ok im getting the htc one x from voda and there buying my sensation back but its rooted will this stop them buying it back off me as it defo works but as i say its rooted and its going back on arhd rom tonight from virtuos sense 4 rom any advice cheers guys
personally I would instal a stock ROM and then unroot and turn s-on just to make sure.
There is a guide somewhere
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using xda premium
Are they buying it back under a trade in scheme, where they give you a value regardless of you buying another phone? CPW bought my HTC Desire which was rooted, they didn't even bother to check.
thanx guys didnt wanna go through the messing about of reversing soff and stock roms ill just stick arhd back on and let em have it cheers
ye there buying it back already told me how much for my phone nothing to do with the new one except im getting the price down with what they owe me lol
just run an ruu
if you have supercid u can use any.. i did it to mine last nite, They want mine back
i dont think it will matter either way, but downloading and flashing an ruu only takes 10mins.
as for cid and s-off id just leave it... its easier for the next owner then lol

i tried to unroot my sensation 4g but i cant get s back on so if i upgrade it will it damage my phone? and will i be able to root it again if i want to with sense 3.5.
you can just download a non stock rom with sense 3.5, since you already rooted your phone.
But I don't want to root my phone. I want to unroot it 100% so I can send it in for warranty but I still have s off for some reason I can't get that process to work when I try to turn it back on. So I just wanna know can I upgrade to 3.5 with s off? And will I be able to root again later on if I upgrade.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
Then no you can't get Sense 3.5 as it's not even released yet. The custom ROMs are based on a LEAKED test RUU and chances of it actually being officially released are slim at present
As it stands, you're S-OFF so you're still not in warranty so you may as well flash a custom 3.5 ROM and be done with it
I have to send my phone in for warranty tho.

yes u can. i just did it to my HTC SENSATION XE and works superb with Insertc0in ROM.. very awesome.

This thread hurts my brain. U need to be s-on to send it in for warrenty exchange. So if your s-off they will not accept the warrenty exchange.there is no sense 3.5 for our phones officially and probably never will bbecause once we get updated to ice cream sandwich. That is going to run a new sense version 4.0

A guy told me some people have sent there's back with s off and warent caught. And he said people have bricked there phones trying to get s back on. Idle why to do its seems like a huge risk both ways. Idk wtf to do I should have never rooted my phone.

Rooting your phone is the best thing u can do for your phone.it makes all the slowness of sense go away and there are multiple guides on how to unroot and turn s back on Wich if followed correctly will not brick your phone.

And who cares if you brick your phone just send it in saying it won't turn on after u had an update for it. They have no way of knowing for sure

Bro I care I don't want to brick my phone plus I just restored my sensation to stock other than still have s off and it isint laggy at all.

Mate just S-on your phone and S-off it again when you get it back, it is really easy to do.
I stayed stock but only because I aint got around to doing it yet, the battery is killing me know though, only getting half the life that I was with Mikes ROM.
Ok So back in the day I used the ace hack kit so I was happily on froyo me specs are:
Android Version 2.2.1
Kernel Version 2.6.32.21-g3c08447
Software Number Inspired DHD AFR003
so now as I remember I did the s-off rooted and unlocked but need to go back to stock firmware (IDK just want it) so att made the update to gingerbread so my question is:
If I update like the way the htc page tells me to will it brick my phone ?
and if not what do I have to do?
ive just been out of it and im a little back behind but I find posts with other things than this thanks in advance guys!
Check out this thread.

It has all the instructions and tools you need to return to stock.
but I cant just execute the htc update and what would happen my main concern is messing up my phone by just updating to the official Gingerbread I am on still on the same specs
Yes you can just flash the gingerbread ruu. You will be stock but still have soff which is fine unless you were going to do some kind of warranty claim then I would suggest gong son aswell

Do you mean the OTA update, or the RUU from HTC's website? If the former, then no, you can't unless you are running a rock-stock froyo ROM (it will abort before doing anything). If the latter, then yes, you can run it, but it will wipe everything.

thats the file I really dont care of the features I use im just wondering if i'll mess up my phone plus I just want to know what ill keep and what ill lose in terms of the s-off and I know ill lose the unlock

Flashing ghe htc OTA update while you are S-Off will not work. Found this out the hard way back when I first started messing with phones
You can un root your phone and put S-On and update it to gingerbread but I don't think you'll be able to root it as I believe the hack kit requires you to downgrade firmware anyway.
Best bet is to just flash a gingerbread rom. If your trying to keep sense I would suggest the rom virtuous unity.
Has sense 3.0 with a load of new features and is gingerbread I believe.
Either way, best of luck. Hope this helps

AFAIK the Vodafone UK XE didn't have custom FW but as I've not used one I couldn't be certain. Did it originally have a Vodafone boot animation/splash screen? If so you're kinda screwed as there isn't a leaked Vodafone XE RUU available
Im not 100% I flashed new ROM during first charge cycle LOL, i remember Vodafone boot screen but I had hd2 and dhd visa branded so I've got the boot image in my head on the same sized screen LOL I don't remember Vodafone music app tho
Does it matter why would HTC think anymore into it if I have s on and cid is HTC__001 with generic 1.73 ROM?

Now send it to HTC repair! Assuming there is no response on your phone to anything i don't believe HTC can tell what is on your phone.
I totally bricked my phone some time ago trying to return to s-on so sent it in to repair telling them that the phone wouldn't boot after appling an ota. I had it back within the week with a new motherboard and no bill.
EDIT Sorry, just realised i've already given you this answer on general thread.

I don't have to do it at this time right? I could always choose to do it later correct? The reason I ask is because I read that you would not be able to receive any OTA updates HTC pushes out.

well if you don't want to install ics custom rom you don't have to but if you want you have anyway there are ics fw that can be installed without supercid but imo it is better to supercid
edit: and if you supercid you can revert it back....however if you have rooted the phone you can't receive OTA, or better you can but it will brick your phone

yes man before getting the ota you MUST flash the stock htc RUU which you can find in the development forum
Almost everyone does SuperCID after rooting.
After Rooting, I didn't though. I just S-Offed. A week later, I realized I had to SuperCID to get some ROMs to work. So I did it and never regretted.
Go for it.

what exactly did I miss?
I have not needed supercid, I simply s-off'd and not needed any such thing.
I have updated the fw and I'm running Virtuous Inquisition ICS rom, no problems?
I really don't understand why you'd want to change the CID or how it affects ROMS
You don't have to supercid, but it might be handy at some point. It will allow you to flash any ruu shall you ever need it.

There are no downsides. I did it as soon as I got my Sensation.
I bought my sensation pre rooted, I have latest firmware and am runnin a 4.0.3. Rom, so does this mean the guy used superCID or whatever

if your not branded,
you will almost never have to supercid for a custom rom to install.
but for example if a firmware update is mandatory, you might depending on your cid/mid.
i own a xe device and never supercid it, can install anything without problems. (dont always) believe what people say, but always check the description on the base of your own cid/mid yourself.
that said,it cant hurt to supercid, but if its not mandatory why?
+1 Me too
+1 I've supercid as well, changed a few times back to orginal CID because of warranty without problem.
Hi all,
I've googled and read some threads on how to make my phone back to 'normal' - by which I mean how it was before I decided to start messing with it and put CM10.1 on it but the guides etc are a little too technical for me and I want to make sure I don't make any errors!
Can someone please tell me what I need to do or point me in the right direction so I know how to unroot my phone and have regular stock HTC sensation ROM on it again (whatever version of android it's meant to be on).
I think I made my phone s-off so do I need to reverse this? Also I'm on o2 in the UK if that makes a difference?
Many thanks in advance for your help.

it is optional to reverse from S-OFF to S-ON
but be carefull with that because you may brick your device
but it is not so important to do it

I'd only really be interested in making my phone S-On again so that I can sell it (like in CEX or somewhere) - will they know if my phone is S-OFF?

If you flashed the stock RUU and just left it at that, I think they would be unlikely to notice, or know. (CEX)
If they did somehow find out, you could always go back a few days later to a different employee, this time with the phone S-On.

Hi,
CEX do a complete check on the phone to see if it works.
Run a RUU,to put it all on stock, but leave the s-off.
I am sure they do not care about that, and you may brick your phone trying to get it back to s-on.
Thanks guys.
Basically I'm just thinking that I'm going to make my phone stock again as I'm starting to get some issues with it now but I think it may be to do with the fact that the phone is getting old too as appose to just bugs in the ROM that I use so for the time being I will stick stock ROM back on and keep using that until I get a new phone.
I will leave it as s-off for now as I'm not taking it to be sold just yet anyway.
Thanks again everyone.

Hi,
I think that is what he said in his last post.
And that link you gave would be perfect for that.
Even if he does sell it,he should keep the s-off.
Chances are,the next owner would appreciate it.
CEX would not be bothered by it.
And it does not affect the phone in any way, unless you return it for warranty.
I think in a month or two my warranty would have ran out anyway as by the end of this summer I would have owned the phone for 2 years.
I suppose that has made the decision for me...
