how many use super CID - HTC Sensation

I'm not familiar with super CID coming from the Mytouch4G, how many of you did it when you rooted? I'm rooting my Sensation 4G as I type this.

i did and you should do the same cause in the future will be very useful

+1 why not do it when you have the chance. I've not seen any downside so far.

for example if you want to install ICS fw you need to be supercided

I don't have to do it at this time right? I could always choose to do it later correct? The reason I ask is because I read that you would not be able to receive any OTA updates HTC pushes out.

well if you don't want to install ics custom rom you don't have to but if you want you have anyway there are ics fw that can be installed without supercid but imo it is better to supercid
edit: and if you supercid you can revert it back....however if you have rooted the phone you can't receive OTA, or better you can but it will brick your phone

So receiving an OTA on a rooted phone will brick the phone? Well that's good info to know lol. Thanks matt95

yes man before getting the ota you MUST flash the stock htc RUU which you can find in the development forum

Almost everyone does SuperCID after rooting.
After Rooting, I didn't though. I just S-Offed. A week later, I realized I had to SuperCID to get some ROMs to work. So I did it and never regretted.
Go for it.

Always sper cid for safe side. If you change to supre cid will be very useful no need to worry.

I also did not super CID right away, but for a lot of ROM it is necessary so eventually I had to do it and never regreted it so far...

yup really helpful I did
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium

I have done the supercid
Sent From Space Using My ICS Flavored Sensation

what exactly did I miss?
I have not needed supercid, I simply s-off'd and not needed any such thing.
I have updated the fw and I'm running Virtuous Inquisition ICS rom, no problems?
I really don't understand why you'd want to change the CID or how it affects ROMS

You don't have to supercid, but it might be handy at some point. It will allow you to flash any ruu shall you ever need it.
Sent throught the wormhole from my CoinInserted Sensation OG.

There are no downsides. I did it as soon as I got my Sensation.

I bought my sensation pre rooted, I have latest firmware and am runnin a 4.0.3. Rom, so does this mean the guy used superCID or whatever
sent from my insertcoined T-Mobile HTC Sensation 4G with Beats audio

Well I must say Im glad I went supercid
I think I saved me a super headache when I got stuck in a bootloop from flasing a ICS the wrong way whatever I did wrong I was able to find a stock RUU in no time thanks y'all.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App

if your not branded,
you will almost never have to supercid for a custom rom to install.
but for example if a firmware update is mandatory, you might depending on your cid/mid.
i own a xe device and never supercid it, can install anything without problems. (dont always) believe what people say, but always check the description on the base of your own cid/mid yourself.
that said,it cant hurt to supercid, but if its not mandatory why?

+1 Me too
+1 I've supercid as well, changed a few times back to orginal CID because of warranty without problem.

Official ICS to Custom ROM SENSE 4

Is it any chance to flash some sense 4 ROM into my Sensation with official update of ICS ? I unlocked bootloader from htc website but still s-on hboot 1.27?
Is any way maybe to downgrade to gingerbread or other solution for this ?
No. There are countless threads saying Revolutionary S-OFF is needed on Gingerbread before upgrading. Please read, now you will have to wait until someone finds a way to unlock it on the new HBOOT.
Don't use HTCDev. You're just letting HTC know you've rooted your phone. I'm not sure why people even use it - maybe because they think it's "official" or something. Oh well.

No. Well actually you can, but 95% that your phone will not boot
You want a Sense 4 ROM? Then flash one from the Development section?
You want official ROM? Do not flash on a rooted/S-Offed phine- use the RUU.
By the way the development sub-forum has a lot of guides and answers

Thanks but I already did official update to ICS and now no way back until someone make it possible.
Why then on htc official site say unlock bootloader to flash custom rom if it is not possible because s-on ?
I remember unlocking my bootloader. It actually does not S Off. But I managed to root. Problem though is that my phone in running on ICS. Theres no way I can get my phone to S Off, and now cannot flash a custom ROM.

[Q] Sensation Stock ROM on Sensation 4G is it possible ?!

Hi,
I bought HTC Sensation 4G from US 3 days ago.. The device works flawlessly.. But the problem is it does NOT support my language !
Since the International Sensation and Sensation 4G is almost identical .. My question is it possible to Flash international sensation RUU ROM on the Sensation 4G without bricking the device ?! Or doing that will brick it ?!
BTW It's S-OFF already ..
Waiting your replies ..
Thnx in advance
Since it's S-OFF, you're going to have to perform super-cid so that you can flash an international RUU. There's a stickied guide in the Android Development section that tells you how to obtain S-OFF, root, and super-cid. You might want to get another opinion, because I've never had to do it, but from what I've gathered, it's that easy.
1) S-Off and Root (Seems like it's already done, rooting isn't totally required for this)
2) Change CID to super-cid (a bunch of ones)
3) Run RUU.exe and enjoy

[Q] returning phone to HTC with relocked bootloader

the reason i want to return the phone is the proximity and light sensors stopped working after i received the OTA ICS update. i unlocked the phone and tried a few custom roms but none of them fixed the problem. so i relocked the bootloader and flashed my stock RUU so now its completely back to stock except in the bootloader screen it says "relocked" now instead of "locked". when i send it in will HTC make a big deal out of that? the phone is still s-on and everything.

There maybe a way to show your Hboot as locked, but how can you tell for sure that HTC doesn't keep a track of the phones that have been unlocked using HTC Dev. You are literally telling them "Hey! I'm about to unlock my bootloader which is going to void my warranty!" I do suppose they keep a track of such things.
Try unlocking again and flash diffent firm and relock it on gb idk nice to see there stalking our phones
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Don't know if this works for the Sensation, but if someone is trying to go back to locked hboot, give it a try.
Go back to totally stock. Flash a RUU, preferably GB so that you have an earlier hboot that can be easily S-OFFed again.
fastboot oem write secureflag 3
Reboot and you should be S-ON again. AGAIN, MAKE SURE YOU ARE TOTALLY STOCK WITH A SHIP HBOOT OR YOU WILL BRICK.
Use revolutionary to S-OFF again. Hopefully, you will be locked at this point.
If not, repeat, but use JuopunutBear to S-OFF.
If you're still unlocked, this method doesn't work on the Sensation.
Click to collapse
In your case, try using JuopunutBear to S-OFF and see if it restores your bootloader to "locked"
Does it only say that for people who used HTC tool?
revolutionary does not unlock bootloader.
Why not just flash pg58 with stock hboot in it? Or better yet, I believe stock tmous ruu has leaked (you are on tmous, right?)

That all depends on how you got root. I know on my EVO 3D shipped with hboot 1.50 in order to get temp root, then s-off I used the HTCDev site and I basically forfeited my warranty (that's my understanding) and HTC COULD hold me to that. I would encourage you not to run an RUU for a phone of a different model. I know in the EVO 3D forum people on Sprint were flashing the ICS update for Virgin and it did not go well for them. Not knowing the specifics for your phone I would encourage at least reading in the Sensation forums and seeing what they say.

If you want to run the latest Stock version I would say to unroot, do the OTA, then reroot. There are some great Sense ROMs for the Sensation, I would check into them...think stock (with regards to look and feel, kinda) on steroids. Here is a link to ViperS Sense 4.1 ROM for Sensation. Team Venom does awesome work and it will give you the Stock interface (Sense), with better speed and performance. There are many more options are you wanting to go stock rooted or stock unrooted?

[Q] Question on Software update/warranty, etc

I'm new to this site, just registered. Sorry i'm a noob!! So I have had the Blue Tmobile One S since august but sold that one to my friend and bought a black one from a guy and said it's from solavei, So I try it and everything seems legit except It's running Android 4.0.3 and Sense 4.0. So I go to menu>Software updates>check now to see if I can get the OTA they had in September but it says I am currently up to date. I checked my sotfware information and it said my software number was 1.84.1135.17 71ORD. I look online to see if I can some how download it and it told me that if I don't have these two other numbers and had something else then the warranty is void and I can't get updates. So My big question is how can I change my software number? Do I have to like root my phone? Then some how unroot it back to a different stock ROM? I'm open to suggestions and I would really like an answer thanks!!

If you're on 1.84 I would not update via OTA. You probably have a 1.06 or .09 hboot, which will be extremely nice for you.
I would suggest unlocking your bootloader via HTC and installing TrickDroid if you want stock. There arr several guides, including a all in one tool to help you with the process.

You can try typing *#*#CHECKIN#*#* into the dialer and then checking for updates.
Or you can find a T-Mobile US 2.35 RUU and running that. However it will be more difficult to flash ROMs once you have upgraded if you want to do that later on.

I tried that and all it did was say in my notifications "checkin succeeded" and nothing else happend.. so idk about that. I'm not really looking to root my phone, all I really want to do is have my phone run on the latest software and get OTA updates if possible. But if I need to root it, I will. And for the second thing, I'd have to root my phone to run the 2.35 right?

After "checkin succeeded" you should then check for updates in Settings, as I mentioned earlier.
You seem to be running an "ORD" build which is basically like a Beta test for the latest software. RD stands for Research & Development. The latest 2.35 RUU should work without rooting.
However that will upgrade your HBOOT and make it more difficult if you decide to root later on.
