Is it any chance to flash some sense 4 ROM into my Sensation with official update of ICS ? I unlocked bootloader from htc website but still s-on hboot 1.27?
Is any way maybe to downgrade to gingerbread or other solution for this ?
No. There are countless threads saying Revolutionary S-OFF is needed on Gingerbread before upgrading. Please read, now you will have to wait until someone finds a way to unlock it on the new HBOOT.
Don't use HTCDev. You're just letting HTC know you've rooted your phone. I'm not sure why people even use it - maybe because they think it's "official" or something. Oh well.

No. Well actually you can, but 95% that your phone will not boot
You want a Sense 4 ROM? Then flash one from the Development section?
You want official ROM? Do not flash on a rooted/S-Offed phine- use the RUU.
By the way the development sub-forum has a lot of guides and answers

Thanks but I already did official update to ICS and now no way back until someone make it possible.
Why then on htc official site say unlock bootloader to flash custom rom if it is not possible because s-on ?
I remember unlocking my bootloader. It actually does not S Off. But I managed to root. Problem though is that my phone in running on ICS. Theres no way I can get my phone to S Off, and now cannot flash a custom ROM.

You can flash roms after htc Dev unlock. Install custom recovery, flash rom. Does anyone read this forum before asking questions?

I don't have to do it at this time right? I could always choose to do it later correct? The reason I ask is because I read that you would not be able to receive any OTA updates HTC pushes out.

well if you don't want to install ics custom rom you don't have to but if you want you have anyway there are ics fw that can be installed without supercid but imo it is better to supercid
edit: and if you supercid you can revert it back....however if you have rooted the phone you can't receive OTA, or better you can but it will brick your phone

yes man before getting the ota you MUST flash the stock htc RUU which you can find in the development forum
Almost everyone does SuperCID after rooting.
After Rooting, I didn't though. I just S-Offed. A week later, I realized I had to SuperCID to get some ROMs to work. So I did it and never regretted.
Go for it.

I have updated the fw and I'm running Virtuous Inquisition ICS rom, no problems?
I really don't understand why you'd want to change the CID or how it affects ROMS
You don't have to supercid, but it might be handy at some point. It will allow you to flash any ruu shall you ever need it.

There are no downsides. I did it as soon as I got my Sensation.

if your not branded,
you will almost never have to supercid for a custom rom to install.
but for example if a firmware update is mandatory, you might depending on your cid/mid.
i own a xe device and never supercid it, can install anything without problems. (dont always) believe what people say, but always check the description on the base of your own cid/mid yourself.
that said,it cant hurt to supercid, but if its not mandatory why?
+1 Me too
+1 I've supercid as well, changed a few times back to orginal CID because of warranty without problem.
Ok, i habe hboot 1.23 and so i cannot flash any new firmware files via hboot or cmd prompt. Unfortunately I also have s-on, what some friends suggested is to try and use RUU files to change the hboot but I ALWAYS get an 'Unknown error:155' on whichever RUU i try (i am SuperCid), and no HTCdev is not a solution! it does not give s-off. Can anybody PLEASE tell me what to do, I am really desperate as I want to switch back to ICS roms as after using them for so long I hate GB roms ( no offence to any chefs). Please anything at all, I've asked this exact same question before but despite getting 200+ views, nobody answered, I'm really desperate!
boot to bootloader and fire up the RUU.exe
That's what I have been doing, from fastboot option in the bootloader.
Does it change to fastboot USB when you plug the phone in ?

yes it does.
Do you run the ruu as admin?

Yes I do. I right click and choose run as admin and it asks for rights and I click allow.
Please stop starting so many threads asking for help with the same issue. Your question has been answered more than once and it's well known that you cannot flash any RUU because you are s on with 1.23 h boot. You continue to open threads rephrasing the same question. I don't think we will know until the official release what h boot version is going to come with the update. We will have to wait and see. Best to try to contact the revolutionary team through there site and ask them.

G'day champ,
Welcome back, begin with the guides provided below.
1. S-off, unlock, recovery, root & SuperCID
[Guide] to Installing S-off, Unlocking, ClockWork, Root, SuperCID & S-on
2. Install the latest firmware, 3.32 is needed for the latest base.
[Firmware][Mar 30]User-Friendly Firmware 1.17/3.12/3.24,3.30 & 3.32 Unlocked
3. Flash a ROM, Android Revolution HD(ARHD) is the most popular(for good reason)
[ROM] Android Revolution HD 6.5.5 | ICS | High Quality & Performance | 3.32.401.105
After all that, feel free to learn what you will, there's plenty to learn, it just requires reading, and problems, there's guides all over the Sensation forums, generally within the first couple of pages.
Thank you for all that. What is the firmware step for??

For what reasons exactly
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
You can root without doing supercid. Supercid is optional.
It allows you more flexibility though. Useful if you want to flash other areas/carriers rom. Personally I prefer to keep original cid.
Recently I couldn't receive ota update to ICS because I was supercid, then reverted to the original one and suddenly I received the Ota update notice.
It's up to you whether supercid or not and it's not a real concern because you can revert at anytime.
What is your current hboot version? Power off, pull battery, press & hold vol down and power to enter bootloader and read it off.
You have to check your hboot is supported by revolutionary- the tool to give you s-off.
sent from HTC Pyramid using Tapatalk
And the OTA thing... Say i update my phone..will i lose root n such..
Thanks.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
Yes you will lose everything and bootloader will become 1.27 (which is unsupported by revolutionary) Unless you have S-OFF before the update that is.
As for SuperCID, Its optional but HIGHLY recommended, As said before, it allows you to flash any firmware from any region....
If you dont have it, You MUST make sure it matches your CID or it wont boot... It can also be tricky to find one for your region (depending where you are)
It only takes a second, And its permanent and reversible
When i switch from rom to rom... Do i superwipe then flash rom everytime??
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA
You can do, but its not necessary, Have a look at the installation guide for the ROM your going to flash.... Usually if you are updating the same ROM wipe isnt needed..
If you are going to a different ROM altogether, A wipe is a MUST
Guys I see a lot of roms that tells you what firmware is recommended but it dowsnt show you on how to know which firmware you have.
I recently got this phone sensation 4g from tmous. came with ICS.
I rooted it, s-off it, and hboot 1.27.1111
how can i know what firmware do I have? and I guess I need to be on 1.33
and another question is anybody still using super wipes in here? seems like the more ics roms dont tells you that you need to do a super wipe
and can I still use superwipe when flashing new roms?

Their is a firmware thread that gives all the firmwares with unlocked bootloaders. Also a rom will state if you should super wipe or not. But as a rule of thumb do not super wipe when installing a aosp or aokp rom. Only sense roms seem to be compatible.
Also since you have ics as stock It would be safe to assume you have the 3.32 firmware as this is what is linked in most if the s-off guides I believe.

Because 3.33 is the newest firmware and what some devs recommend for there roms. Even though 3.32 is the same as 3.33. So if you have 3.32 your ok.The only real difference is the radio. So if you just update your radio. You should be fine.
you can update to 3.33 but right now you dont have to. eventually maybe. setting > about phone will also tell you firmware version on phone, or maybe just the firmware of the rom, not sure. If you read the firmware thread then you will understand firmware and settings and not make a mistake. end up with reboots or tac nyan or some ****.

Finding out the firmware version is one of the most basic information you need to know. Hint: Bootloader has nothing to do with it.
Odoslané z HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio cez Tapatalk 2
What he's trying to tell you is if you get to your boot loader (by pulling battery putting battery back in pressing volume down and power at the same time) the information about your device will be there...if you want to upgrade to 3.33 you flash the v pg58img file. You put on root of sd card boot into boot loader the way I showed you then it will ask to update press power for yes. Then DELETE the file! If you don't delete it it will continuously try to update. That's all there is to it. Hope I've helped.if so press thank you. Have fun updating.

Hi guys,
I am sure this has been asked many times and it's very stupid question. I have reading since last three days and I am still unsure.
I got this HTC sensation from someone. It is rooted and has CWM. I am not sure if it's bootloader is unlocked or not. I assumed that if there is CWM then it must be bootloader unlocked but the attached picture confused me.
I just want to upgrade it to official ics. I tried to use this thread to upgrade but nothing happened. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
Can someone direct me to right path? Please. I will really appreciate.

The bootloader still locked according to the picture. So go to htcdev.com website and follow instructions to unlock it. You can upgrad to ics either through installing a custom ROM or an official RUU (Rom Update Utility). If you choose the RUU method you will loose the root and the custom recovery but will retain the unlocked bootloader and the soff status.
Read the following guides carefully to be able to upgrad your phone.

Hi,
@ Alsager:
Please stop telling people who are s-off to unlock their phones at HTC.
This is totally unnecessary and could possibly bork their phone in the future...
@ viny2cool:
You need to upgrade your firmware/radio in order to get everything working properly.
The Kohr-Ah thread that Alsager suggested is a good starting point.

Hi,
A locked bootloader will prevent the user from using certain fastboot commands.
If the user has a locked bootloader, this can be unlocked with Kohr-Ah's "HBoot 1.27.1100 Patch (Go from Hboot 1.29.0000 to 1.27.1100)"
