Gingerbread update - connection problems
Hey guys, I'm new here and just figured out there's an update for my phone (gingerbread)... Anyways, I've attempted to update my phone, but I've run into a problem. I've been following the steps here from AT&T's website /esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB413936&cv=821#fbid=OhFxMmC2FtH, but I'll lay out what I've been doing for you here, just to make sure I've been doing it right.
1. Install Pantech Upgrade tool on my PC (Windows 8.1 x64)
2. Remove and re-install battery on my phone (not connected to computer at this point so it turns off)
3. Hold down "volume up," "home," and "power buttons to enter "S/W Upgrading" mode
4. Start Pantech Upgrade tool on the computer
5. Connect phone to computer via micro-usb
6. Attempt to connect phone...
#6 is where I have troubles. I believe I've followed all the requisite steps to set the phone up in the right mode, but for some reason the computer won't recognize the device. I've waited 2-3 minutes while plugged in (and set up) and re-tried the connection, but to no avail. I've reset the phone to factory (backed it up first of course) but that didn't seem to help either. Restarting the computer did nothing.
What should I do? Thanks ahead of time

install pantech pc suite, only need install drivers

Hi I got a problem with my phone. after years of struggling wanting to upgrade it I finally could but deeply regret it. it seems the google play services are so bloated that they take over half the available storage space, not to mention the play store doesn't work (white screen) after it upgrades.
so my question is, is there any way to either downgrade the OS back or prevent the play services and store from upgrading? the defaults seem to work just fine. I dont care about using google's upgraded apps.
alternatively fixing the new play store white screen. I can only get it back to work if I uninstall the upgrades.

[Q] LG GW62 brick?

Okay.. Help!
I just recently bought a LG GW620 from a friend.
Usually it runs on Android 1.5
I wanted it to run on Android 2.2
So, i searched the internet and found out that LG gives us this by default, all you have to do is download their update manager and let that run.
So i did.. Until it started telling me that i needed to reconnect the phone.
I did that.. about 5 maybe 6 times. After that, the update program stopped.
I now have, a big fat "!
EMERGENCY MODE" on my screen.
So, i searched, and came across a way that told me to disable the modem.
I did, but still the update program shizzle from LG doesn't seem able to find the phone.
I'm really inches away from going crazy, haven't had any food since 8 o'clock this morning(okay.. just noticed now that that is 12 hours ago.. should get some food)
But.. please.. help me!
Don't make me go back to my Xperia X1 with friggin' Windows Mobile 6.1!
Edit:
I tried this:

OK, got it.
In the settings menu, you can run a factory reset, and after a reboot, it's back to virgin state.
so, to recap:
1) You can recover from bricked state (IE, won't boot) by holding 1+Power on start to get in to Emergency Mode
- You will need LG-Utils
- You will need V10C_00.kdz
- You will need B2CAppSetup.exe (set language to English for ease of use)
- You will need USB modem drivers (I used USB SP modem drivers from LG Modem Driver 4.9.4
-- From LG-Utils directory, run KP500-Utils-EN.exe
-- Phone Model: GW620
-- File: \path\to\V10C_00.kdz
-- Version: V10C_00
-- Takes about 5 minutes and will reboot your unit to charging mode.
2) At this point, you must turn on your device. You won't have much luck doing anything because the GUI is gone, but ADB will continue to work.
- You will need Android SDK
- You will need to have previously set up USB Debugging
- You will need to have previously enabled root for adb
-- Launch adb shell
-- execute: am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN
-- this will prompt you with a GUI to select the app to launch. go in to the settings to issue a factory reset.
3) Voila. On reboot, you are on initial setup screen. You have lost all of your data, but have recovered your device.

Make sure to double check that you did everything and installed everything as stated in the instruction thread. Run flashtool as admin. If still doesnt work, and this is only way it worked for me, do the power volume up but remove the battery. Thats how i was able to install the baseband after 2 days of trying.
Sent from my LG-P920 using XDA App
Have you removed the sim/micro sd/batery then do it. This is where i got stuck lol soon as i removed them all i just held the power n volume button for like 10 seconds i didnt release them till my pc noticed it

i just want to share what i did to flash GB baseband.
1. i uninstall everything that smell LG from my computer (pc suite, divx, LG smart world, LG flashtool)
2. install step by step everything from the beginning (except LG pc suite that come from the phone), then i install pc suite (2 file) that come from the tutorial page.
3. follow instructon from the tutorial page.
4. my computer didn't detect omap but LG modem, and when it needs the driver, i take it to omap driver that's been installed before.
5. change port and follow the tutorial.
6. when connecting to computer, first time to make it "ready"
7. second time connecting, i took out batterey first before connecting back to finish the flashing.
8. flashing and stop at 22% (GB "leaked" baseband), restart phone,..and the signal bar finally there.
PS : im using Win XP sp2,..sorry for my bad english

1. Do i uninstall the lg drivers also?
2. Do you mean the lg flash tool?
i did exactly the same as ssfirme , i found the original instuctions didnt work for me, i think for me the bit that made it work was removing the bettery before connecting it to the computer for a second time as this step isnt in the original instructions

LG P920 bricked after playing with CWM.exe

I decided I wanted to change the firmware .. I did not do this for the first time so I downloaded the beta Accura SAMBA v2, with ciekowości with UPK.zip. I plugged the phone to upload ZIPA the card and started | drinking heavy digging in UPK.zip CWM.exe shoved and there, not knowing that he will immediately do something. It turned out that he started flashign - now like a brick phone detects omap4430 but after installing the drivers in Device Manager / Ports LG CDMA, there is no serial ports and LGflash Tool does not detect my phone. The system is win xp. Could only service?
(google translate)
did you try putting it in download mode take the battery out hold volume down and power i think then plug the usb in keep holding buttons tell the phone vibrates or device manager finds it.
Which OS are u using(Windows 7 or XP). I bricked the phone multiple times trying to install the wrong CWM onto the phone as the latest version of rom manager did not have the O3D as an option. I tried to recover in Windows 7 and couldn't. Had to be done in Windows XP.
If it is still bricked, let me know and i will forward a link to the recovery page to get the phone back up and running.

Prior to obtaining answers the phone sent the unit if the warranty does not include a guarante (phone rooted) back to the topic.

[Q] LG optimus pro G bricked after using exitrecovery.zip

hello,
I hope someone can help me with my AT&T LG Optimus Pro G phone, which I have royally screwed up.
I was experimenting with the cyogen mod and after installation I installed the freegee app and once the cwm recovery was installed, I decided to go into the recovery by holding down up volume and power button.
Once I was in recovery for CWM i couldn't exit out, and the phone constantly booted into recovery after every reboot, even if i took out the battery, and powered it on.
I tried reflashing the cynogen mod through the sd card, and even though I would get success message the phone would still reboot into the cwm recovery.
I started doing research on the internet and i found file exitrecovery.zip that could be used to possibly get the phone out of the cwm recovery.
After installing exitrecovery.zip, I rebooted the phone, and now I have complete black screen. There are no light, no hints the phone is even turning on, and I can't get into recovery( or at least I can't tell). The only thing now is that when i connect the phone to the computer the window tries to install drivers for the device, and eventually prompts to insert a CD for LG drivers. I already have LGUnitedMobileDriver v.3.10.1 connection drivers installed from their website.
Please help, I am really stuck here..... and have no clue what to do. I am fairly new with rooting and modding, and I am extremely miserable.
The phone is still under warranty from LG. Anyone if all else fails, and since the phone has no screen or lights, whether they would replace it?
Attaching the exitrecovery.zip that I used.
sobbing....

hi, thanks for your reply. Again I very much new to the rooting and android OS tinkering, and nowhere close to an experienced user.
I tried to use google with your information in regards to how to use flow ROM with expansion.exe, but did not get any leads.
I would appreciate if you could elaborate more on this process.
When my phone is connect to the computer via usb is is constantly trying to install drivers. I had already installed LG usb connection drivers in the past and it was successful. It almost seems it tries to install driver yet fails after receiving no input from the phone, and then request LG CD with drivers.

[UNROOT] Return to Factory Stock - AT&T LG G3

UNROOT METHOD FOR AT&T LG G3
So you messed around with your G3 too much and broke something... or do you need to return it or send it in for service. In either case, you may need to un-root and restore the phone to factory settings.
Follow the instructions below to get your phone back to stock.
How to un-root the LG G3 on AT&T
1. Download all four files
Driver
LG Flash Tool
.DLL
.TOT
Mirror of above files - Thanks to clsA
***If anyone is interested in mirroring the above files... please do so and post the links and I will update the OP***
2. Install LG United mobile driver
3. Install LG FlashTool using instructions in zip folder
4. Unzip LG850AT-V10d.zip and LGD850_20140613_LGFLASHv160_DLL.zip in to a new folder
5. Turn of your phone
6. Using a USB 2.0 Port, plug one end in to PC
7. Hold the Volume Up key and plug USB cable in to phone - this will put your phone in to download mode.
8. Open Device manager and scroll down to Ports
9. Click on Ports and right click LGE Mobile USB Serial Port
10. Select properties - go to Port Settings Tab and click on Advanced
11. Change COM Port to COM41 - Click OK and Close device manager
12. Go to LG Flash tool and run as administrator
13. Select Manual Mode and browse to the folder you extracted the files to and select the .dll and .tot you downloaded
and unzipped in item 4 and place in corresponding box. dll in dll box and .tot in S/W box
14. Click OK
15. Click Yellow arrow to begin
16. When the Port 1 (COM41) box is ready, unplug USB cable from phone, wait 5 seconds and plug cable back in to phone.
17. The process will take up to 45 Min (Mine took 2594 sec)
18. When you see a large 3 on the screen - unplug phone, pull battery and reboot
At this point your phone is un-rooted and restored to factory settings.
19. Once you reboot - go to settings, backup and restore, and hit reset to perform a factory reset. (Optional)
20. Download root checker and run to confirm you no longer have root (Optional)

To Confirm that you have no Rooted flag in the service menu, follow the instructions below
To check:
1. Go to dialer
2. enter 3845#*850#
3. Scroll to and click on LG RCT

WARNINGS & DISCLAIMERS
Proceed with caution and at your own risk - I am not responsible if your phone self destructs, gets bricked, or melts.
Please keep in mind that both these methods will yield ROOT only - as of know there is no way to unlock bootloader on AT&T
Rooting and any other modifications to your phone will void your warranty - do not root if you do not know what you are doing.
Rooted devices will not be able to receive OTA updates. You may have to unroot and restore stock in order to accept updates.
FAQ:
Q. Will this reset my root counter in the hidden settings menu?
A. Based On my experience - YES - After restoring using this method the root counter showed NO ROOT and the Root Checker app from the market also showed Not Rooted.
Q. When I tried to follow the above method I get a "Can't change to download mode" error referencing "Error 00000064"
A. I experienced this several times when attempting to un-root using a USB 3.0 port. Connect the phone using a USB 2.0 port preferably connected directly to the computer - and make sure the phone is already in download mode. Occasional you may need to unplug the USB cable from your phone for a couple of seconds and reconnect to get the process started.
Reserved 2
Don't need it now and hopefully won't, but if I do this is where I'm headed. Thanks man.
Had to do this for a boot loop I induced trying to remove CarrierIQ. I was following the thread from the general section which has all this information but spread out through the thread. Very simple. Nice to have all the links to the ATT specific stuff so thanks for posting this thread. Would have saved me 40+ minutes of searching around.
I followed the guide but every time I am at Step 15, process fails with message "Can't change to download mode" 00000064. I am still able to get to download mode and do the steps again and again but it doesn't get past this same error message and fails.
I did a factory reset before running the flasher tool. After a couple of failed attempts, I enabled "usb debugging" thinking that might have to do something with the reset process. Still no go ...
Any suggestions? or solutions? Thanks.
Having this same issue. Driving me crazy >.<

USB 2.0 with OEM cable and Windows 8 machine. So no USB 3.0 here. I am trying to arrange a windows 7 machine. I read somewhere around here that LG drivers don't play well with Windows 8/8.1 so thought its worth a try.

Followed this sequence too. Still same. Can't change to download mode. This time around it didn't show "00000064". But hey thanks for suggestion. :good:
Finally I was able to get a computer running windows 7. I setup the machine with fresh download and installation of drivers and tools. Reset process went through without a hitch. It took 277 sec for the entire flash process to complete. I verified the root counter in LG RCT menu and its says "Not Rooted" now. All traces of root gone. Time to box it up and send it to the new owner
