I will be getting an HD2 tomorrow (hopefully) and have been doing research about alot of different things for it... one thing is games - I have seen alot of games and none of them seem to be using the specs of the HD2 very well.... I would expect a phone like this to be able to have some very nice games, I understand it is quite new and maybe there aren't any out yet...but could you please let me know what is out there so far? I have only seen things like xtkart (I believe that is how it is spelled) and the ps1 emulator... so I was wondering what you guys have or what else is out there that is in accordance with my recommendation ?

XTRAKT, Experiment 13 and Electopia demo are by far the best games for hd2! avatar, asphalt 4 and nfs undercover are great too!
man.. its just that i'm not interested in racing games...
i wouldn't mind some good ol tetris.. but with nice visuals that take advantage of the hd2 specs...

the ferrari game runs 'terribly' on the US HD2.....they should be embarrassed....constant lag and slowdown. :O(

yeah im not sure there are any games that fully take advantage of the hd2 hardware.
thats not to say that there arent any good games because there are PLENTY!

On my German HD2 with stock ROM it works brilliantly without any freezes etc.
@ Topic: You have to keep in mind that it is a Windows Phone. If you wanna have a phone for playing only then you have to buy an iPhone or sth. like that. Nevertheless I got more than 20 brilliant HD2 games that brought me hours of fun during long train trips.
wow, i wonder why the one on the us hd2 runs so poorly.........it stutters sooooo badly that it's barely playable......i didn't buy this phone to play games but since they were included i certainly checked them out, that's why i'm so shocked that they included a game that runs like crap, lol, not a good advertisement!
the graphics suck on that game too, not up to the HD2 par in my opinion...the game market for this phone is disappointing! =\..
By the time Windows 7 comes out you said ? Yeah, but the HD2 would still be stuck on windows 6, remember ?....I wonder if the games will be comaptible though? or If someone will come up with a perfected windows 7 rom for the HD2 ? Gameloft has bunch of 3D games like Avatar and Assiasin's Creed for Android on their website, I can't post links so just google it or go to Gameloft.com and go to their Android section.

Why don't you go buy a dumb flip phone and supplement it with a PDA? Oh, maybe because you want one device to do multiple things? Imagine that. With phones like the Epic out, phones are starting to pack some pretty nice GPUs - you shouldn't dismiss gaming just like that.
To the OP: Check out Gameloft's stuff like someone else mentioned, they really are top of the line, but they refused to list their games in the marketplace. SNESoid, NESoid can run SNES/NES games. There's also some decent paid games in the Marketplace, you can usually find a demo or Lite version to try. With more people flocking to Android, more developers will start creating fleshed out games other than Bejweled clones (hopefully).

I wonder why people say garbage like oh get a PSP if you want to play games, Or if you want to use a navigation system get a gps, etc. I for one buy a device so I can do it all with one device. Or else I wouldn't buy it. End of point.

Except Gameloft that begins to bring its Iphone hits to Android, there are few 3D games on our favorite platform.
Few days ago, I played Asphalt 5, that's not a bad game, because Gameloft proposed some free demo versions on its website (not avalaible n the market)
You can also try some good games you can find on the market like Speed forge 3D or Replica Island (not in 3D but a very good game).
At least you can try emulators (gensoid, gameboid...)

Best tool for the job is the simple summary. I for one am glad that the entire market isn't dominated by games.. With all of the porn and sound boards there wouldn't be any actual useful apps left.

aTrackDog tells me there's a more up-to-date version than what I have, but I can't access it from the market.

You need psx4droid...
And you'll need the bios of the ps and images of the files...
FFVII runs really well (on samsung i9000)
You should try quake3droid if you like FPS games. It's awesome.

nice atleast the games i play work on the sensation
today i played asphalt 6 HD and Modern Combat 2 HD on my sensation...i have to say that the games luck much better than on the iphone 4.. i realyl was amazed by the graphics

What happend @ 14:26 ? Since he went to the Task Mangager I guess he didn't have enough free RAM to run the game. But shouldn't a phone with that amount of RAM don't run low on RAM?
Would this phone be the right phone for me if I want a phone that can run EVERY game that exists now. And every coming games for about 1 year?

The Sense UI is a real memory hog. It certainly looks nice, but it takes up a lot of memory. That's why I'm hoping HTC unlocks the bootloader on the Sensation soon than later.
i have been using the desire hd version for those games (cracked apk's)
and what happened @14mins mark was: that game is supposedly made only to run on tegra 2 devices but somehow this guy has found a workaround for it that still is a bit buggy !

let me say this: i have everythig enabled: all animations and syncs i can play those games without any hiccups ..dont worry about gaming on sensation but le me warn you, when you play hd games the it eats the battery !

I guess it's quite good on gaming. But maybe gaming works better on another phone.
I guess that playing games eats battery on every phone But I can charge it while I'm playing.
Ah I got a question now. HDMI works on every TV, but it only charge the phone if the TV supports MHL? Is there any adapter, so I can charge it AND using HDMI without a TV that have MHL.

Yes they do have such adapters that allow you to do that which should be coming out soon. I believe I saw one in a Galaxy S II demo video a couple months ago that had two microUSB ports: one for the MHL connection and one for the phone charger.

He was trying to run a game optimized for Tegra - for some unknown reason it didn't launch on the first attempt (black screen), therefore he launched the task killer and force closed the game. He did not kill any other applications. After that, he proceeded and (this time successfully) launched the game a second time.
This definitively wasn't RAM related as there was still plenty of free space left.

Ah okay
The LG O2X does have randomly reboots. This one have a death grip and the camera app crashes. Samsung Galaxy S2, seems to be so plastic and slippery but that phone seems to be quite stable.
HTC Sensation doesn't have USB OTG.
All the phones probably have more bugs but that's a few of them. This is driving me crazy.
Is there a way to turn Sense animations off? That might help memory use and performance.

sometimes it helps to read or better yet look at the videos because in the video he did test dungeon defenders and in other post others have been playing dungeon defenders. so next time to avoid unnecessary post search observe and most of the time your question is already answered

The search doesn't do anything, the video I saw him load angry birds with no mention of dungeon defenders. Although I asked if anyone tried it, not if there were videos of it. The game runs smooth on my SGS in single player, but in multiplayer it can get really laggy. He just showed that it boots fast pretty much.

First one... My point was single player vs multiplayer on dungeon defenders is way different on the SGS phones (which are listed as "mid range" for their specs, and the only thing better is Tegra2s).
It's not essential, I just can't find much info any where on the net about it (then again it's hard to find as typing "dungeon defenders sensation" brings up tons of forums that discuss both dungeon defenders and sensations but separately) and I have read the SGS2 (which isn't really an option for me, but I am presuming the Hercules will be similar) has problems with gaming. I don't think that will persuade me one way or the other but figured I would just drop the question in a gameplay thread.
I like the qHD screen, but I love my amoled... The benchmark comparisons is sort of worrisome as well, but I might end up with a sensation either way, as long as the bootloader gets unlocked.
Hey so I just seen on this market pretty bad compatibility for a lot of devices it seems, the data download is choppy and the audio is reportedly out of sync for SOME devices other devices just find the game to laggy.
Having tried it myself i find it very choppy Xperia Play controls work fine for me, although other users are reporting problems, this could be down to bad downloads/ custom roms.
Not to mention it's like over a year late, guess its in preparation for episode II

You are better off buying sonic CD, its much longer and its much more fun. Sonic 4 just plain sucks.
It's working smoothly for me with xperia play controls... Stock rom with root and some system apps uninstalled, and supercharged and i have chainfire installed....
Edit-Played through first level with only one lag spike which didn't really affect me since it was so small... Touchpaxz do not work but the d-pad does and I can't see why you would want the Touchpaxz to work so I'd say buy the game... No idea what's wrong with your version... Maybe try deleting and re downloading the sd data....

Working fine for me too, Sonic CD runs better but I guess if I change my v6 settings it will run a little better.
PS. I played through first level with next to no lag, a slight bit of slow down in places but bearly noticeable.

Blocked from the market for me. It's saying incompatible with my device.
EDIT: Went ahead and *forced* it anyway... and now I'm wondering why in the hell they blocked Xperia PLAY users from seeing this. It's working perfectly with Xperia PLAY's physical gamepad and I can't quite complain about the performance either.

While Sonic CD was a much bigger deal, this is kind of a big deal for me too... you guys don't know how much I bugged Sega about putting this on PSP (while most games just suck on touch-screens, platformers got the shorter end of the stick by far) and this kinda makes up for it.

Can confirm that it works fine on the Play controls.
I just bought Sonic 4 on my old Droid x and then tried the apk on my Xperia PLAY and I can tell you right now that the controls most certanly work. The menus are all touch but the game itsef supports the controls, not the touchpads but the directional pad works great.
I've been playing it a bit now, and must admit I did find a few bits of lag going on :-( but all the controls work find, and tilting on certain bits is loads of fun!!
I'm not overclocking so maybe if I pop SetCPU up to 1.4 or 1.6 it may stop the lag.

Triangle is supersonic, so it seems all ingame buttons were made for the play. and its not just a carryover from dpad+enter button config.

That is interesting... that means Sega was actively working on making this compatible with the Xperia PLAY this whole time.
...that brings me back to why the hell they'd make this any less than fully available day 1. It's not like they couldn't expect us to figure them out.

I would like to buy a good android smartphone to emulate some PS1 games (talking about emulator because i want to play games that are not in the PS mobile store like FInal Fantasy, Chrono Cross, Legend of Dragoon ecc).
The problem is that i would like to use physical pad (so no touch commands) but i would like to just take the mobile from the pocket and play when i get some free time without attach any huge pad.
I looked for a small pad, something that i can leave on my mobile in my pocket (taking those huge pads around it's stupid, that would be better to go around with a PSP ._.).
DOes somebody know if such a mini pad really exists?
If it does not exist then the only solution for the problem "take from the pocket and play" would be the Sony Xperia PLAY (the only one i know with physical pad) but i am scared about the performance.

The Xperia play is still surprisingly a great phone, it would be able to run a PSX emulator just fine, if the Nook simple Touch can play Crash bandicoot fine then the Xperia play should ;p. i want to say sony has a market place that allows you to download PSClassics. and if you still dont like the performence you can always overclock it. if you want a alternate, it sounds like you want a big phone but small enough to take around and probably Either the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 or 6.3, they are both great devices but the 6.3 would be a better choice and worth the few extra bucks. another recommendation would be Whatever Blu Device would suite your needs, they have a huge line of devices you can find. Good luck!

I don't really want a small or big device, it doesn't matter as long as it had good performance emulating. What i want are physicals command, no touch ones. Xperia PLAY has those included in the mobile. Other mobiles should get those with a PAD but there are only huge ones. The Xperia PLAY is outstanding for that reason.
ANyway if you say the Xperia it's actually still good at emulating it sounds like a good choice for me.

you can get a controller for a phone that has a touchscreen only so it sorta has that Play Feel like a PSP, i would recommend a moga pocket for Emulators like GBA/SNES that such controls but not a great on a psx emulator. and the Moga pro (i have this and its awesome) and would be perfect for other android games or PSX and sorta great on GBA/NES and such.
