Little bit more info should be great
Could it be your friend has an rooted device and booted from cwm into the recovery. the transformers don't like that! As i had a simular problem mine was on cwm5504 recovery and only booted back to recovery
You can try an cold boot. volume - and power buttons till you see the white text written above, release the buttons and it will cold boot linux.

He probably installed a "bad" version of CWM.

I have an HTC inspire after a ROM install F1 CM 7 V3 it went to the boot logo on it's stuck, I pulled the battery and still stuck.. I dont know what to do....
Turn off hold volume down and power and open up and click recovery if you have a backup but if you don't then put a P98IMG file and restore you

OK I did this, but it wont let me get to recovery, it wants me to update HBOOT?
Yeah it wont let me get passed HBOOT?? any help?
Hold down Vol+power
Then use the volume down to select Recovery then press Power to select it.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Thats what im saying I do this and it shows HBOOT and all the stuff on the bottom including recovery, but when I hit the down key it wont move... keeps me on HBOOT and then HBOOT starts its script...
Remove the PD98IMG.zip from the root of your sd card if you intend to boot into recovery and restore a backup. As long as it's on the root the bootloader will load it.

[S3]cant install cwm recovery

hi. unlock went great but installation of cwm - tried both ones - touch and normal - didnt work. followed the procedure exactly as explained in the thread. what can i do to root my phone?
thanks
Download GooManager from the Play Store. Then inside the GooManager App go under Settings -> Install OpenRecoveryScript and Download the file given. Then you can reboot into Recovery and you get the same as CWM.
Seems like I have to root first. How do I do that without recovery? Torxx guide says recovery first and only after that root. I am not a Rom flashing noon (had about 10 customs Rom on SGS) but I can't figure this HTC one s s3 thing out... It beats me. Can you please help me do this? Bootloader is already unlocked, that was the easy part
Thanks

That download link redirects me to a blog... There is no download actually. Can you somehow give me the file please?

still no luck. when i try to enter bootloader by pressing pwr btn + vol dn +vol up it doesnt work. when i press just pwr and vol down it enters fastboot. if i click fastboot, then i get a bootloader option, but when i click it it goes back to fastboot. fastboot is disabled in power options. this is really starting to annoy me..... think i will sell the damn phone and go back to samsung ((((((
Have you unlocked the bootloader? (check in the bootloader if it's saying unlocked)
If no, you have to do the whole unlocking process again.
If yes, reboot into bootloader (power down your phone. Press power button and volume down button). Go into fastboot. Plug your device into usb and start install-superboot-windows.bat.
I did that. It was the only solution left. It worked. Thank you again for taking the time to assist me

Did you try the r2 of cwm? I don't think I can post links yet' but modaco had a post for rooting that I used and I had to use the r2 and then it worked. I would google something to the effect of "inurl:modaco root HTC one s" or when I get a chance I'll pm you a link.
Because the cramp just won't go away!
Thanks a lot, my problem was solved. I think I used an older version of that recovery, but at least it worked. From what I read around here the r2 you are talking about is an upgrade, isn't it? Is it somehow better than r1?
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
Nope this thread tells you to only use r2.

Battery died, boots into recovery?????

My phone died and i didnt realize it was low and now im not sure why it wont charge. Anytime i put it on the charge it reboots into recovery and keeps doing that. I tried holding down the vol down several times to get into bootloader but it wouldnt go nor will it boot back on
Recovery
I was having a similar issue with the phone booting into recovery while charging. I flashed the latest TWRP recovery and it solved that issue. However, I have not encountered the issue with the device not being able to power up. I hate to recommend a full wipe if you don't have a back-up, but you can try the recovery first.
Hard power-off offers a workaround

I am experiencing this as well. Battery runs out of charge and when I plug it into the power outlet, the phone boots into recovery. Selecting "reboot" in recovery doesn't work and the phone boot loops back into recovery. Some have suggested that using the "clear storage" option in recovery seems to stop the boot loops but I don't really want to clear my data every time the battery runs out. What works for me is to let the phone stay plugged in for about fifteen minutes (so it gets a little charged). I then press and hold the power button for about ten seconds. This causes the phone to power off completely. I then press and hold the power button to power up the phone (cold start). The phone boots up correctly although I get a message something like "the device encountered an error on startup, would you like to report the issue to HTC?" I choose NO.
This is very annoying and I can't seem to find out if it is in the recovery or if it is in fact a problem in the stock ROM.
ROM: T-Mobile Stock 4.0.4
Software number: 2.35.531.10 710RD
HBOOT: 1.14.0005
Recovery: CWM 5.8.3.1
Rooted: Yes

Its the crap recovery you using. Flash TWRP and you should never have that issue again.
I had that issue too. I had to leave the phone in recovery, charging, for a few minutes, then boot it without the charger.
It's a known issue with cwm though I thought it was fixed a while ago. Had that issue on my g2 but was fixed. I wish 4ext recovery was an option for this device

Anyone who is reading and is panicking, for future reference just hold down the power button to do a hard shutdown. Do this about 4-6 times until it successfully boots up. As a rule of thumb, I never install anything cwm anymore.

Actually, just leaving it charging for a couple of mins in recovery and then boot it without the charger works even better.

Well that's wack..they fixed it for the g2 a year or so...
As the old saying goes if it's not broke don't fix it .
Still wish we had 4ext recovery for our devices. Think that's the only reason I quit rooting.. I know it's a matter of opinion but that recovery is awesome

Is my tablet bricked?

I know there have been many threads about similar problems and I don't want to clutter the forum but I haven't found an answer to my particular issue after three days of searching and reading.
I had a ICS unlocked bootloader and Pacman ROM installed with TWRP 2.2. I wanted to upgrade the bootloader, recovery, and rom. I was able to download and install TWRP 2.4.4 with no problems but when I tried to install TWRP 2.5 I ran into problems. The outdated PAC ROM loaded but then I tried to boot into recovery and now am stuck in a bootloop. It just goes to the Asus splash screen and reloads the splash screen again and again.
I have tried holding down the volume button but it does nothing, I've tried letting the battery run out then charging and holding the volume button down and it still loops. I can't load the ROM or recovery.

You install TWRP with fastboot. Fastboot comes before the spinning dots. If you hold volume down+power, you'll get to it, am I wrong?
I get the spinning Asus logo even when I hold volume down. No matter what I do I still get the spinning Asus logo.

[Q] Stuck in boot loop and bootloader is also in boot loop!????

Ok so about a month ago i bought an htc one mini m4 from att and since i think im pretty well trained on installing custom roms and such i thought i would do this to my htc. Well i did everything like normal flashed twrp and booted into it made a back up and so on and rebooted fine. so the next day i was gonna flash a rom for it i dont remember which one it was. But when i woke up my phone was off so i plugged it in and thats when this started im in a boot loop as far as the splash screen htc logo but when i try to go into fastboot mode about a second or 2 into hboot it boot loops and keeps doing it over and over and over again. I been looking for a way to fix it but i dont see nothing like this and this is a first time for me as far as the bootloader boot loop goes... Does anyone have any knowledge of how to fix this??? i would appreciate any help!!!!!
oh and my hboot is tampered relocked and s on
hboot is 2.22 and os is 3.10
i dont remember locking it back i might have but idk!!!
and i have no factory reset or recovery now to!!!! smh :crying::crying::crying::crying:
Just to confirm, it is rebooting even when you are at the hboot screen?

When you plug it into your PC or laptop can you hear the USB recognised chime for any time?
