I know there have been many threads about similar problems and I don't want to clutter the forum but I haven't found an answer to my particular issue after three days of searching and reading.
I had a ICS unlocked bootloader and Pacman ROM installed with TWRP 2.2. I wanted to upgrade the bootloader, recovery, and rom. I was able to download and install TWRP 2.4.4 with no problems but when I tried to install TWRP 2.5 I ran into problems. The outdated PAC ROM loaded but then I tried to boot into recovery and now am stuck in a bootloop. It just goes to the Asus splash screen and reloads the splash screen again and again.
I have tried holding down the volume button but it does nothing, I've tried letting the battery run out then charging and holding the volume button down and it still loops. I can't load the ROM or recovery.
Is it bricked?

Being that you actually started with ics, did you Happen to do the most important thing and make an nvflash backup?

nope. Haven't done much with this tablet yet and didn't really know about it. Read a lot about it since.

You install TWRP with fastboot. Fastboot comes before the spinning dots. If you hold volume down+power, you'll get to it, am I wrong?
I get the spinning Asus logo even when I hold volume down. No matter what I do I still get the spinning Asus logo.

So i installed latest cm7 nightly 55 and it started normally waited about a minute on the cyanogen mod bootscreen then started looping. any ideas?? i have cwm recovery installed (non nvflash version) if i hold down vol up it goes into a S/W upgrade screen then goes black. holding Vol Up and Down doesn't do anything on a virtual windows 7 pc.
Couple of questions: Which rom were you using before you flashed the nightly? Are you sure it was looping? Sometimes the initial boot after a flash takes a minute or 2.
Needless to say you need to NVflash recovery. Do that for sure whether you're looping or not.

Ditto on the above - plus what did you wipe before you flashed? Alos, you might try pulling the battery and starting up again.
You amy not be able to do anything if that does not work until you flash a real recovery. Follow the one-click method on the dev thread - NVflash and recovery all in one package.
Thanks for the input guys, I tried using nvflash but it doesn't pick up the device when I try to install the apex drivers. I am using a virtual machine so I'll try on a regular one.

You needed to clear the cache and then reinstall the rom. That was my problem.

All,
Hopefully this is an easy one. I looked through the board and did not see anything I haven't similar but i can be wrong. Quick background, I rebooted the phone it looked normal on shutdown but it never came back up.. What I have tried is tremove the battery and left it for day and tried to turn on with no luck. A couple of times it showed the battery indicator but would go black screen if i tried to turn it on. I have reloaded the stock rom using ODIN still no luck. The only thing I can make it do is go to the download screen, that's it. This is a stock ATT Skyrocket no mods or anything. It seems to be a software issue but I do not know how to fix it. Any Ideas Thanks
oops!

I'm in the same boat. Root was a confirmed success after the OTA update, but now I can't get pass the download screen while booting up the phone. When I was trying to boot into recovery mode after I did a few quick restarts in a row after rooting phone, to install a debloater .zip, it came to this screen only (see screenshot), the Samsung logo comes up before this and it's all that it does now. Thinking it's a soft brick as this screen is the only thing that keeps coming up after Samsung Logo with no unlock/lock symbol, when I try to reboot the phone in various ways. I know I can't use Odin to reflash back to stock MDL after the June OTA update, as I tried with no luck came up failed like I knew it would. Plug in via usb to computer, PC doesn't recognize it, so I can't check / access anything on the phone. Pulling straws here. PLEASE HELP.......

I finally got my tablet out to use again and went through the process of installing the newest CWM image for CyanogenMod, and my tablet is now completely useless. It is stuck at the ASUS splashscreen. It will not boot past this and I cannot enter the boot menu to use fastboot or enter recovery. Can anyone help, or does anyone know how to fix this?

You said that you cannot enter the different modes because of the spla#h screen. Have you tried holding the power button for about 10 seconds? It always works for me.

I have no idea what bootloader, and I have no way of finding out right now. It was running a CyanogenMod from last year(4.1 I believe) and I was trying to load the newest one on it.

No luck, it just continues to boot to the splashscreen on its own.
Try this, it worked for me

Hi,
I'm new to this site and just bricked my white 16 gb verizon galaxy s3 sch-i535 :crying: I was running touchwiz and decided to run cyanogen 10.2, I had to install a bootchain to unlock the boot. Downloaded RomManager and was using CWM 6.x.x, went to install it, rebooted into recovery and it started going through the system update, it finished and was about to install gapps when the device turned off and has not been able to turn back on since my computer won't recognize it, i plug it in and it makes a sound and tries to download the drivers, then it just stops and won't be recgonized. tried booting into recovery/download mode, nothing. I left it and used my old gs3 for about 4 days, tried plugging it into the charger, light turned red for about a minute and I thought I was saved, but then it turned off and nothing. Is this completely dead? Does any one know how to fix this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Samsung is now offering free repair of brickes phones. You can try that?

With a good battery boot into recovery using the three finger method volume+ and home and power buttons. Hold it until recover boots.

Phone is rooted with latest TWRP, Cataclysm rom, and Franco kernel. It started happening when I flashed r11 Franco kernel and when I reboot the phone, it shuts down instead. I couldn't start the phone holding down the power button and I held it for over 20 seconds. I thought I bricked my phone. After few minutes fussing with the buttons, it finally booted up. However, every time I reboot my phone, it'll do the same and I had to fuss around the buttons keeping them press down for several minutes before it'll boot up to system or boot loader. As far as I can see, it can boot to recovery & system with no issue. I'm wondering if I need to flash to stock and reflash it again. Anyone knows anything about this or had same issue, please help. Thanks.

Listen like the kernel is the problem. So flash another one (easy way) or go back to stock.
If it's working fine then, it was the kernel which made this happens.
Much success

This is what happens: it gets stuck in the rebooting process. It doesn't properly shut down, it just hangs with the screen turned off.
Try flashing the stock kernel. Does it do the same?

Flashed with stock kernel and it's still doing the same thing. I also restore back to stock 4.4 with stock kernel and it's still doing the same. Do I need to unroot and root again then flash rom, kernel, and etc? Don't really want to do that if I don't have to but guess I have no choice? Thanks again.
Yep, do a factory reset and see if it's working fine again... I'm thinking so.

Update: I've decided to just wipe it all and start over by unroot and root again which solved the problem. It's rebooting correctly and not stuck in that awful black screen boot loop. Thanks.

This means, going back on to the stock firmware. This will remove the root for sure.
After that starting with rooting again.
Hope this answers your question
