Hi,
I want to turn the flash light on/off in my own application. I use the CameraCaptureDialog for taking a picture. However there is no method in it for switching the flash light. It can only be done by the Camera-menu.
Has anyone an idea ?

I got to playing with a friend's Blackberry tonight in a nightclub if all places and found that it's automatic flash helped make the mere 2.0mp camera shine in dark enviorments. My old Wizard doesn't have auto flash but a light per say. I was wondering for those that have Fuzes or TPs does the phone come with automatic flash or is it like a flashlight until you get out of the camera app?
nah, no automatic flash
Is there anyway to modify it to have an automatic flash?
It's only 2 screen taps to turn it on from the camera app. I'm sure with some clever ingenuity someone could figure out how to read the light sensor when the camera app is open and if it's below a threshold, turn the light on (if so desired). Maybe post an app bounty for such a thing?
When I bought this phone I knew it had a flash, but I was not aware that it was 'manual'. I had assumed it was like a normal camera flash.
I'm pretty annoyed at this fact myself, hopefully it is something can be worked around to be made automatic.
I have a strange problem that I can't seem to find an answer for. I have an SGH-I727R rooted with stock ICS ROM. I don't know when this started happening so I'm not sure what triggered it, but the flash on my camera doesn't work.
My LED works because my flashlight app works, and when I go to take a picture in the dark, the camera will turn on the light for auto-focus, but when I go to actually take the picture, the light turns off but doesn't flash for the picture. I've tried 4 camera apps and they all do the exact same thing.
Things I've tried so far:
- I thought it had something to do with settings on my flashlight app (shaking the phone to turn on the flashlight) so I wiped all data and uninstalled it
- turning off the phone and pulling the battery
- used Titanium Backup to reloaded the last backup of the stock camera
Because the light works, it's not hardware. There must be a file missing that triggers the flash mode for the LED or something. Could reloading the stock ROM fix this problem? It's really annoying not being able to take pictures in low light. Again, the light works during auto-focus, but doesn't actually flash for the picture. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
reload the stock
As per title.
I am unable to turn the flash off on my gf's Nokia 820
Any suggestions?
In addition to turn off the flash, in camera settings there's a 'Focus Assist Light' option, try set it to off. Hope this solve the problem.
EVERY time I take a photo running the stock camera app, if flash is enabled (auto or manual), the phone saves a picture file a split second after the flash is back off-resulting in a dark photo saved. I have turned on an off HDR with no change (thinking it would be affecting the timing somehow).
The only way the flash is of any use is if I start to record a motion video file (with flash on the whole time) then touch the screen to capture still photos. Then the photos are lit up perfectly.
Has anyone seen this before? Any tips to fix?
I have had this issue on two Droid Maxx phones now. one unlocked bootloader downgraded to 4.2.2, the other with rooted on 4.2.2 (shipped with camera update firmware, disabled firmware upgrades on purpose to prevent 4.4)
Same thing often happens to me. It isn't every time I use the flash, but probably 75%. Once it does this crazy flash thing, then the camera no longer zooms properly until I close out of the program and reopen. It happens with the stock camera and 3rd party (camera360).
I usually don't take pictures with flash, but today I noticed that the flash doesn't work properly in the camera app. When I try to take a picture, the the flash lights up while the camera is focusing, but when the actual picture is being taken it remains off, resulting into a very dark picture. I am running stock 4.4.4 + elementalx kernel. Has anyone else noticed something similiar and have any idea how to fix this?
