ICS stock Sensation is faster then Galaxy Nexus :D - HTC Sensation

Everything is stock , no overclocking or anything like that

Is that a surprise? isn't sensation better than Nexus? or am i wrong?

Benchmark tests don't always tell the truth.

Tired of those benchmark noobs.

ok, forget the benchmark...
I tried a galaxy nexus...is very very very laggy, is not even smooth or fast...

The Snapdragon S4 based phones disagree

Pikabat I axpected more from you =\ as you can see in the benchmark the nexus have much better CPU (the blue stat) and sensation only have better I/o (the green one) which is obvious why... So no, sensation isn't faster...

this thread is so lol
first of all 2700 is low
second of all, that quadrant graph has not been updated since they added dual/quad core support
so thats galaxy nexus running 1 core test
check my screenshot for some sensation power, 1512mhz gets 3700 points
was with openSensation btw

My phone just sucks in benchmarks . Quadrant cant get over 3000 mark. Antutu usaly 6800+ on 1.5 ghz. But no lag in programs and in the interface, but seeing this score im thinking something is not ok with it.

Lmao... I have bolth Sensation (my wife's) and the SGS 2.. and yes the pyramid is a good phone. It lacks a good bit in 3D performance ..
I know the 2 devices have the same S3 chip set but Sammy definitely did better implementing it.. Though I tend to not trust quadrant I score over 3200 with no overclock on my SGS 2.. just saying .. not to mention my buddy has a GNex and that shiz is fast...

Its inflation. Quadrant is notorious for this. R/RW speed between the current devicesis pretty much the same, especially when they are all on custom ext4 partitions .. Hence why you can run 4 benchmarks and get 4 different scores .. notice the CPU and graphics numbers don't really flux to much...
Hate to break it to you bro. But the Sensation will never be faster than a GNex or any SGS 2 version. Don't get me wrong I love the device. But it is what it is..

Enjoy

you all realize that quadrant is only good for comparing devices with the same screen resolution, right?
The Gnex is running at a much higher resolution and becuase of that the scores will be lower in Quadrant.
Quadrant runs at the phones native resolution so the gnex has to work harder... I cant believe people still use this as their proof....

Gs4g is alright but you will run out of app storage if you like alot of apps, only has 344 MB free out of the box. That's like 700 MB less then sensation. And the gs4g screen does have a good screen but sensation is way better. The difference is darker colors are richer on gs4g, gs4g not dial core, gs4g is laggy even rooted with a custom rom, big step down from sensation I have to say. Personally I wouldn't trade. Sensation is a better phone and get a 8,16, or 32 gb SD card and throw ur music on it and that takes place of itouch. But its up to you.

The galaxy has an amoled display that is pretty much far superior to the one we have. The sensation just has a higher resolution. Although the amoled has a weird bluish tint to it. As far as software goes, the galaxy s ain't nothing unless you root it and throw ... Cm7 for example, on it. The graphics rendering is faster on galaxy as well. Sesation has better battery life and build quality.
As far as processor goes, people just got to stop buying into the while 1.5 ghz or 1.8ghz bs. Our sensation wouldn't be $h*t without faux's kernel. Plus, our phones being dual core and all don't mean much as well until android is written to fully take advantage of two cores. Hopefully android ice cream sandwich will do the trick.
Samsung has the worse software support on the planet, I came from an epic 4G, I know trust me. The sensation is better because of the awesome software our devs put out. Still a long way to go, but it gets better every day. I just can't wait for cm7 on this bad boy

Benchmarking favour anyone?

So guys,I might have a chance to exchange my Desire HD for a Sensation(Plus some money of course),but I want to be sure before I set my eyes on the Sensation only.
To help me choose, could someone do some benchmarks for me?By benchmarks,I don't want stuff with stock rom or stock CPU speeds, but I mean some heavy benchmarking with full dual-core support(Mike's way or anyone else's),full CPU overclock(nothing less than 1.7GHz-Not even 2GHz would damage anyone's phone during ONE benchmark),GPU overclock(I read it's been done in some kernels-Wasn't possible on older Snapdragons) and generally everything that boosts performance. That would be my daily setup(Yes,I'm that mad ) and, also owning a Galaxy S 2,I won't be easily surprised.
So,the benchmarks I'd like to see are:
-Linpack's multi-thread test
-Nenamark 1 }I'd prefer Nenamark 2 but anyway.
-Nenamark 2 }
-CFBench
-Smartbench 2011
-Antutu benchmark
-Quadrant benchmark
If you could post your setup(Rom,CPU speed,GPU speed etc),I'd be deeply grateful too.
Many thanks in advance,I hope I'll be joining you soon.

Yes,I read about that, but I care more about graphics this time,as that was what disappointed me with my past HTC devices and made me switch to Samsung.Qualcomm's CPUs were always really good,no doubt about that so I don't exactly care about that.Synthetic benchmarks also don't mean ****,that's why specific benchmarks like Nenamark for GPU and Linpack for CPU are higher in my priority list. Also,in Smartbench,I care more about the gaming index score.
Thanks for pointing it out anyway.

2012 year of the quad cores

So I wanted to upgrade to a new phone like the amaze but it makes sense to wait two more or 3 months for the quad core processor phones right guys? Let's hear some feeback and what are you gonna do? Wait it out too??

Yea, I agree. I get bored easily, this is the first phone I've kept for this long (about a year). At first, I was looking at a gradual upgrade, something like a sensation or a g2x... Then I figured if I'm gonna spend $$, might as well just do it for the long haul & look into an amaze, galaxy s2 or even wait for a galaxy nexus... After all is said & done, I'm still using my glacier & will continue to do so. The Ville is the 4.3" ICS phone right? That sounds so much nicer size-wise than the massive Galaxy Nexus. Should come out more compact than the Amaze or Sensation due to the removal of buttons.
However the render appears to have a screen aspect ratio of 1.64 or so, which is closer to the 5x3 of an 800x480 display than the 16x9 (1.777) of a qHD display. So the render is misshapen.

Yes the ville is the 4.3" screen one. Same screen as the RAZR i believe. Its gonna be nice because the 28nm processor allows for it to be really thin. So it shouldn't be much heavier than the MT4G.

A 4.3-inch qHD (960×540) Super AMOLED display; a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor; 8MP camera on the back with 1080p HD video capture; a 1,650mAh battery; HSPA+-connectivity; and Beats Audio Technology. If you are waiting for the greatest smartphone you will be waiting forever, there is always going to be a rumor about a supposed OMG smartphone RIGHT before you was about to purchase the smartphone you thought was awesome. In my opinion, to have a really satisfying smartphone experience there needs to be great utilization of software and hardware. Software is something that has always been a bit of a hindered on devices with custom skins (most of the Android ecosystem). The only ways to really circumvent this is to either buy a Nexus devices or root your device in HOPES of finding a solid ROM to flash. I think this makes the decision quite easy, buy the Galaxy Nexus.

Does galaxy S2 more powerful than sensation?

One of my friend using Galaxy S2,his phone can run fruit ninja HD quite smoothly, but on my sensation it runs choppy,we also done lot of benchmark, the score on S2 just way higher than sensation, now im wondering is our phone really that powerful, its performance just only like single core with areno 205 phone, let discuss here
That s ii is more powerful in terms of CPU and gpu
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
Dont under estimate your sensation than his galaxy S2 because Touchwiz UI is a light and crappy UI while sensation has a rich Nd heavy UI which makes the benchmarks down...
I agree S2 has a Better GpU, but sensation is also not so far behind...
Checkout cyanogen mod-i use hypersensation and faux kernel...it will surely help for benchmarks as well as gamez, but if you want perfect battery life too, you should under clock...
Hope this helps

Use bricked kernel to make fruit ninja and other games work like they should.
I also want to recommend you flash Gingerbread Sense 3.5 (2.08.401.1) that has much better adreno driver than sense 3.0 and also don't have that fps limitation which make games like fruit ninja choppy and laggy.
Exynos is more powerful, yes. But there's no reason why your phone can't handle Fruit Ninja. I play it all the time with no issues.
Sensation would have given a performance close to GS2 if it was not qHD... Gs2 is not qHD..
Everything runs in high resolution on this phone... That's why Sensation has 25% less performance... But overall Sensation has sharper display compared to GS2...
Gs2 icons looked very soft compared to Sensation
Add to that, Sense UI is more CPU consuming...

Our even better, if you can, install a custom rom and you'll see how smooth it becomes.
If it runs smooth on mine it has to fly on the Sensation. Great phone! Very sexy too! Way more than SGS II on my opinion.

Holiday Comparison
Over the holidays a buddy of mine brought his new rooted GS2 over. We swapped phones to check them out. The GS2 was wicked fast and smooth scrolling and entering various apps. Entering apps like picture galleries was almost instant, which was cool. Connecting to the internet was faster on my Sensation and Sense 3.5 makes Touch Wiz look childish. The build quality of the SG2 was CRAP!!! The phone felt really cheap. And as for looks, no contest. Even iPhones look better. I was considering getting The Galaxy Note(mainly for the screen size), but not anymore. .

it does.benchmarking depends on resolution directly

GS2 is more powerful, plain and simple. The Exynos processor is way better than ours, A9 architecture vs. custom A8, and it's synchronous vs asynchronous. The GPUs are both very good. The GS2 CPU is what gives it the advantage.
People are overblowing the resolution difference. Yes, it makes a bit of a difference, but not as much as raw horsepower. The Galaxy Nexus has a way higher resolution than the GS2 but it manages to perform about as well (and also better than the Sensation).

Yeah, the Galaxy Nexus doesn't do as well on the Sensation on benchmarks. The PowerVR SGX540 is outdated and they underclocked it too I believe. Just compare the NenaMark 2 scores and you'll see the difference.

S3 and S4 version difference ?

So I was looking up on online stores which sell One S....and nowhere the specify what version it is, S3 or S4. So how do I know online that is the phone is S3 OR S4 before thinking to order it.

Do not get the s3 version Its not worth the money you can get a better phone for the price. I have S3 version. And tested S4 version too. Despite there is no noticable differantiation about their performance, dont buy S3 version. Because there will be always update issues about S3 version as we seen here, S3 versions are still not updated to 4.0.4 while S4 versions got.

Actually its you mate, you shouldn't look into numbers so much, going through the ui the galaxy nexus with jelly bean runs smother than most phones but yet quadrant is only like 2000..... Numbers mean **** its down to real world performance. If you go on the one x forum you will see a lot of people saying it has lag in areas the one s doesn't yet it has better quadrant. Numbers mean nothing its down to real world and you really cant make an argument for a device you have never used.
I'm getting confused now with varying opinions
and my original question is....how do i know the phone is S3 or S4. Sense 4 and 4.1 is one of them but i cant check it before i buy it even in a store....and the processor is different. Anymore ?

S3 units suck, no customizing with not enough experiance because most devs only support S4 units.
they releasing one update after other for S4 but for S3 units only two custom roms exists.
