[Q] Can't get my Diagnosis App to Update [Omnia 7]

Hi,
I'm trying to maintain a jailbroken phone through the Mango update via the following method:

My only trouble, is that I haven't been able to update my Diagnosis app.
It's on 0.922, which will not allow the xml files to be found.
I have tried uninstalling and then hitting "##634#" but each time, it only brings back the same 0.922 app.
I am also unable to find it in the marketplace.
I am currently running OS 7.0.7392 - and Zune tells me there are no further updates (not sure what 7932 is?).
Can anyone help?

I'm having the same problem. I was on 7390 with 0.922 and couldn't update it, so just updated to 7392 and it's still on 0.922 (have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it with no luck either).
There are a few other solutions I've yet to have tried, but it's not looking likely so far...
Note: In regards of this "If your phone is updated to 7392 with the OEM registry information (ATT-US) deleted, the Diagnosis won't be updated." - I think I had deleted the registry while on 7390 (I'm with 3, not AT&T), but I'm not sure how to re-add it. Re-flashing maybe? Though it'll be a pain adding everything back.

How would you have deleted the registry?
I'm from Australia, so my phone was bough on Optus, but is now unlocked on 3.

I can't remember exactly but it's something to do with the SamsungRegistry tool I used when first unlocking my phone. I vaguely remember reading a STRING value and then overwriting it as a blank value.
I was following a guide very closely but now I can't remember what it was for so I can't find it to undo it.

I remembered it seems like HKLM\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\MobileOperator, maybe you can have a try.
it is heard that if the WP7 updated to mango, the Diagnosis will be upgraded too. I don't know whether it is true. Or you can flash another ROM, such as DTMJJ6, I'm using it and it works well.

the DTMJJ6 will update the diagnosis ? is this an branded rom ? 7004 ?
Edit : DTMJJ6 is not an public rom.(samfirmware) what about the november rom?
EDIT2 ": the november rom contains the 1027 versin of diagnosis app .. it works.. its unbranded too..

That sounds great! Do you think you'd be able to give a link to where you got the November rom from? And if you can a tutorial on how to flash it. Those two would be very much appreciated as I can't seem to find them (or don't know what to search for)
Edit: Found it, thanks very much! Hopefully I'll now be able to update to Mango without losing my unlock.

[Q] How to repair bootloader?

As many of you probably know there is an issue with the DFT HSPL and the Mango update resulting in the device no being able to be detected in bootloader mode (one line on the tri-colour screen). Is there a fix available alredy or not yet? Because I can't flash the official mango update for my Vodafone Trophy because of the abovesaid reason. Any suggestions or help would be really appreciated.

probably the easiest method will bee having a ffu file to use with the updatewp or in alternative the cab.pks file with the spl
these are the files signed by ms to be deployed using updatewp
... ultimately we shall wait for the next official update that will be deployed from Zune

I've received the HTC update for Windows Phone through Zune yesterday, update that contains SPL and radio, phone rebooted twice immediately after the update and still no good bootloader, so no luck with that.

thats all bad news.. for now we are stucked with this problem

note to self.. never use custom rom until someone has the solutions to ALL of the problems.

Did you already tried goldcard method. This flashes also the bootloader.

The only way I see after all this attempts is directly flashing mermoy with JTAG

only way to fix this is by " http://gsm-technix.de/shop/produkte/19/1/10/htc/ "
I used this after testing custom spl/radios and ofcause **** can happen
20 euro + 6.90 euro and your phone is fixed for German people
(it worked for me and got my phone back in only 2 day's )

Correction:
Never use Custom ROMs without reading the forum or read the chef instructions first. If people are too lasy to read dont mess with your phones.

jup correct.
And if you want to test/dump/build/cook be prepared to get a bricked phone

iwas have same proplem an i tried all those methods :
*fomat device
*restore backup
*creat goldcard
*replace card
*flashing rom via xtc Clip Box
*Y-Cable Method
And all failed
at end i relpaced the device

I had use DFT mango coustem Room till the mango update comes in market from microsoft
use same DFT program 1- DFT_RSPL_WP7FG1_LAUNCH / 2- DFT_HSPL_WP7FG1_INSTALL """but select the 1 option""" then install orgenal shipped ROM (old V. WP 7) to get back the orginal HSPL
then it be easy to update to WP 7.5 by Zune
(my HD7 worke fine and normal update by Zune)

If you are going to using stock or shipped ROM you will not needs Gold card "only if your phone is louked then you needs gold card)

[Q] downgrading wp7

hey guys,
i've got the samsung omnia w gti8350 and i installed the latest update including kk2, but now i havn't the phone either unlocked nor i have a backup.
i downloaded the full mango build 7720 rtm and the wp7 update cab sender. when i wanted to "update" actually downgrade, the anser was no cab was required. the phone doesn't let me downgrade to mango!
is there a possible answer how i can downgrade it or how i can uninstall kk2 without having a backup?

I'd ask what you did with your backup, but it's probably too late for that now.
You need a ROM flashing tool, not a CAB sender (which is used for updates, not full ROMs). I know that ROM flashing utilities exist for the first-gen Samsung phones, and would assume that either they can be used with second-gen or you can find one that works. The tool used for HTC (like I have) is called ROM Update Utility, commonly abbreviated RUU.
You may want to look in device-specific parts of the forum. Also, just for the record, do you mind posting your firmware version info (from Settings -> About -> More Info)? People are constantly asking how to check for the KK2 version, and it would be good to have a number I could point to and say "if it's at least this high, you need to downgrade."

Ive got the versions, only the bootloader is different: 5.12.29.0
@GoodDayToDie: would it be possible to use the ROM Update Utility to flash my omnia w?

I don't know; ROM flashing isn't my thing (I'm still on a stock ROM). I strongly suggest you go look at the Omnia [7] forum, if you can't find an Omnia W forum, and ask how to re-flash the ROM. Alternatively, you could try searching (using Google/Bing, since the forum's search tool is down). You could also look at the XDA-Devs wiki; a lot of this sort of info is stored there.

Here you are

Download: Click HERE
This ROM is from Poland, unfortunately it's the only ROM I could find for your phone. Anyway this shouldn't give you any kind of problem.
How to flash:
- Extract the archive
- Open the folder Downloader and run WP7_Downloader_Ver_3.8_for_Secure_and_SMD_change_Parttiton_and_Support_Retail_binary.exe as Administrator
- Click on PDA and choose PDA_I8350XXKK4_REV0.nb0
- Click on CSC and choose CSC_I8350PLSKK4.csc
- Click on Phone and choose PHONE_WEMBLEY_16002402_open_KK1_rev00_RC1.bin
- Click on Eboot and choose EBOOT_I8350XXKK4_REV0.eb0
- Put your phone in Download Mode (Turn it off and press Volume Up Key + Camera Key + Power).
- Plug in your phone, wait until the program finds the phone and then click Start
If the program doesn't find the Phone, then you need to install Samsung USB Drivers: Download HERE

Try these USB drivers:
Samsung USB Driver v1.3.2300
Uninstall the old ones before installing these!
Also, I found another revision on that firmware, if you have the same error with the new drivers, try with this other one:

i have samsung omnia w with frmware v7720 and diagonisis ver 1109 in which the window break method does not get applied...so for this reason i want to downgrade my phone...is possible to use windows support tool for downgrading to earlier windows ver i.e. NoDO because i dont have any backup of it so i cant even reterive it with zune

It seems not to work! Same problem as before, no way out! I think samsung provided with kk2 an update that blocks all possibilities to "hack" this phone.

2nd gen devices (like Omnia W) can't be downgraded to NoDo because they didn't even exist before Mango!
Anyway 7720 is the OS version, not the firmware.
You can always try the ROM that I posted above and see if you're able to apply WindowBreak on it

Well, my Samsung Omnia 7 also received KK2 update which blocked the possibility to use WindowBreak, but I was able to flash even a custom ROM, so I don't really think that the problem is realted to the firmware.
Are you sure that you're in bootloader mode?
You can also try the procedure on another computer, but I don't know what else I could suggest you, because I didn't have any problem on my Omnia 7!

Are the bootloader mode and the download mode the same? First you mentioned i've to go to the download mode (vol. up + cam. + power).
If that's true i am in the right mode.

I'm interested in downgrade my Omnia W too. I found this. I hope that it helps, but i think, that it's only for upgrade...

Can i make a custom frimware for 2nd gen devices???

Since you'd need to unlock the bootloader before you could install it, a custom firmware for gen2 phones isn't yet a useful project...

So i tried it with later drivers and Poland Firmware and it seems that it doesn't works.. Still the same firmware.

@WooDoo.CZ: don't you forget to ckeck the checkboxes from PDA, Phone, Eboot & Phone Boot. Unless you check these, i think it won't send any files to your wp7 device...

i tried now what you found. For me it didn't seem to work! Error: md5 checksumm not valid for both of the roms mentioned before in this threat.

[Q] Custom accent colors, 3g toggle question.

Hello folks,
I know there are a lot of threads going around that cater to this topic but I had just one little question. I have an Omnia 7 (8107, updated via zune) which is developer unlocked (no interop).
Is there any way, or will there be any way via which I can put custom accent colors on my phone?
I loved doing that using advanced config but I flashed my rom & all the changes I made were lost.
Also I loved having the 3g/2g toggle button, but ever since I flashed the new rom & updated it is no longer there. Is there anyway by which I can get back the toggle?

Why didn't you interop-unlock again? You can still use Advanced Config or similar apps if you do...
Use WindowBreak or any of the Interop-Unlock apps. If your firmware is incompatible, roll back first using Zune (it should be the last update, so easy to restore).

Hi, Thanks for replying. I don't want to roll back because I am unable to! I have a backup restore but my phone never restores to that point (gives me a weird error, I don't remember the code right now, my phone reboots twice and the restore fails giving me an error code. I did some digging around but didn't find anything useful)
It's the same story with ALL the restores that I have, I cannot roll back to any of those. Does windowbreak work on 8107?

I said firmware, not OS (7.10.8107 is an OS build version). 8107 doesn't matter one way or the other, but some phones get a firmware update (Samsung's KK2 update) that disables hacks like WindowBreak and the other Interop Unlock tools.

japmeet, unfortunatly kk2 was just to break the project, nothing more.
I have an Omnia 7 and i can give you two advices about what i did:
A)First, i have downgrade to 7.0.7004.0 and run windowbreak or chevronwp7 and then u can update,i suggest manually to 8107 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415
B) I also tried after downgrade to 7.0.7004.0, done a clean reset and tried the custom already unlocked roms:

it shows

Suwon3G Test Band
and i also tried chevronwp7 tool with installing certificate to my phone but it always shows
"Sorry I'm having trouble communication with the phone"
-Please Make sure its connected using USB
-Please Start Zune Application
but i always get this error

ChevronWP7 Unlocker hasn't worked in nearly a year (since NoDo came out). If your OS version is 7389 or higher, you can't use it. This was pretty clearly documented, not just here on XDA-Devs but on a number of tech sites and phone hacking blogs and so forth.
I'll look into your Windowbreak problem. Typically, it means you have the KK2 or later firmware version from Samsung. Flashing an older version to the phone may let you use Windowbreak. Annoyingly, Samsung doesn't seem to use easily-distinguishable version numbers for their significant firmware updates, or at least not ones that I find easily memorable...

i have found a 7720 build samsung omnia w rom, but it is a plus poland brand rom.
So if i flash it to my omnia w, which is not a plus poland mobile, will it cause me problems. I just want to jailbreak my phone and i already have updated my phone to 8107

It will cause the problem. Windows phones are not just like others where flashing goes smooth.
Cross your fingers and wait for jailbreaks. We are all waiting from last 3 months
