Are you confortable with using ADB?
If not let me help you.
You will need
1- HTC Sync (http://dl4.htc.com/managed-assets/support/software/htc-sync/setup_3.0.5617.exe)
2- ADB (Go to my firmware thread, link is in my sig, I have it zipped on post 1)
3 - Install HTC Sync
4 - Unzip ADB Windows
5 - Download the recovery.img I've attached to this thread and put it in the ADB directory you unzipped
6 - Open a command prompt in windows (cmd.exe) and go to the directory you unzipped the ADB zip at
7 - Boot your phone into the bootloader and plug into the PC
8 - In the command prompt type in "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
9 - Once it is finished installing choose recovery in bootloader
10 - You should be good.

thanks for help but htc sync don't detect my phone what should i do now? I have tried changing usb ports too

[TUT] Telus Desire HBoot 0.83 Root and Flash

Hi all,
Seeing as Telus now has the Desire, a lot of people are a little confused how to root and flash it. I will list the steps I did in order to root mine and run a nightly Cyanogen build on it.
A few notes before we get started. I use a Mac/Ubuntu 10.04 so Windows people will have to get the drivers installed by installing HTC Sync then uninstalling just the software leaving the drivers on the system. I also do not want the Sense software so my tutorial will use ROMS based off of stock Android. Flash what you want though
Steps for Rooting:
1. Goto http://unrevoked.com and download the software
2. Get the needed recovery image from here http://crop.floodbit.org/~defer/recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.1-bravo-slcd.img
***DO NOT plug you Desire into your computer yet***
3. Start unrevoked and goto File>Custom Recovery and point it to the recovery image that you downloaded earlier
4. Enable USB debugging on your Desire Settings>Applications>Developement
5. Plug Desire into your computer, unrevoked should start its goodness
6. Once you are left at the recovery boot and unrevoked says "Done!", disconnect your Desire and click the Trackpad to select "reboot system now", phone should reboot into normal mode
7. Check for Superuser Permissions app, if you see it you're good if not retry
You can still install rom manager from the market to use the "Reboot to recovery" option as it is handy but do not let it install the recovery image, it will mess up your flashing.
Steps for flashing:
1. Go here to grab a Cyanogen build http://mirror.kanged.net/cm/nightly/bravo/
(I used 08092010 as of this writing)
2. Once zip is download, copy it to your SD card
3. Get the updated radio needed from here http://android.adamg.co.uk/bravo/radio/32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20.zip
4. Reboot into recovery either using rom manager or by powering off you Desire and powering it back on while holding down Vol-. Rom manager will get you to the recovery console right off, other method will bring you to hboot screen. Select Recovery with the Volume rocker and then click the power button to launch it.
5. Select "install zip from SD card" using the trackpad and select the radio zip that you download earlier
6. Let it do its thing (could take up to 10 mins to finish), phone should reboot to recovery, use the back button to get to main menu and select "reboot system now" with the trackpad
7. Once rebooted check that the new radio is good by going to Settings>About phone>Software information (or whatever its called), if good lets continue, if not redo till it works
8. Reboot to recovery as before, select "wipe cache partition", "factory reset" to clear out any junk leftover and once done select "install zip from sd card"
9. Select the ROM we downloaded before with the trackpad and click it
10. Wait for it to do its thing, could take up to 20 mins to finish
11. Phone should reboot into your new rom
Hope this help people.
*I am not responsible for bricking your phone.*
UPDATE August 23 2010 - Once you have eveyrthing working, check ROM Manager. If it says that you need to install ClockworkMod (as it wont pick up the custom one) go ahead and do it. I am running 2.5.0.7 ClockWorkMod and the SLCD is supported by it so you can see the recovery console.
did you make a gold card first?
Thanks!
Just got to unlock when i get home, then time to flash radio and new rom!
Just one question why did you choose the rom that you did vs. others?
Mine hung at the waiting 5 seconds because windows sucks
No need for a goldcard. Goldcards are when you downgrade using an RUU.
And I don't understand the part about not using ROM Manager. It works just fine for me.
I'll be grabbing one next week as my first android device, Question from the android super noob. This does not sim unlock correct?

Are you going to use the phone on a orange network? If so then there is no need to unlock the phone. Just need to root the phone.

You can use it if you want just don't apply the recovery image if it asks or you will overwrite the custom one.

slimdizzy,
assuming you did this in windows, what driver/device shows up in device manager when your at the fastboot usb and hboot usb, are they different or the same?
Thanks for the guide. Seems to work well, but I have a couple of issues.
Firstly, after booting into recovery using the needed recovery image - the phone will not ever boot back into that recovery mode.... if I try to use Rom Manager to boot into Recovery mode it will hang and I have to remove battery. So the only way I can get into that recovery mode is by using unrevoked each time.
This issue is probably related to my next one - is when I tried to install Cyanogen (thanks for the recommendation) - it applied in the recovery mode okay, rebooted, and then got to the Cyanogen / Android load screen... and hanged for about 45 min before I decided to remove battery.
Anyway, do we have to partition the SD card? Any other tips or suggestions are appreciated.

Are you plugged in with the usb cord still? This is why i was having problems booting into recovery.
Got it working after a bunch of times. What did it was choosing the "Factory Reset" from the clockwork recovery; rebooting - and it loaded up Cyanogen almost immediately.

I stated that I use OS X and Ubuntu 10.04, so no drivers needed. Might I suggest downloading a live CD of Ubuntu that you can boot into and use it for flashing?
Somewhere else in this development forum there is a thread with drivers for windows apart from just the htc sync drivers.

You could also install VirtualBox and create a virtual machine running Linux. Very handy to have.
I do it the other way. I run Linux and have a Windows XP virtual machine that I use for GPS stuff.
Same deal in linux just sits waiting at waiting for device (htc splash screen)
didnt see the error log in the terminal
Errror: N = -1 , errno = 19 (No such device)

heeeeelp htc desire hd refuse to boot

hi every body im sory i dont know if this is the right place to this thread
i have new htc desire hd and try to install arabic support to it
but after reboot it wont work and stuck on HTC mark on the begging and recovery dont start please help
on my old xperia x10 i was use x10 flasher and install a stock rom without any problem is there any thing like that in htc desire HD
Pull the battery out, leave it out for a few seconds. Pop it back in, hold Volume Down while pressing Power button and it'll boot to bootloader, from there, you can boot to recovery.
And you're right, this isn't the right section
thanks for the replay
i tried what did you say
and i have the bootloader screen but when i click to recovery it go back to the same screen htc first screen and stick on it
Sounds like your recovery somehow got corrupted. If you have ENG S-OFF (Radio S-OFF is not enough), you can flash recovery via fastboot.
Here's a link to ClockWorkMod recovery, where you can download a nice little pack with recovery and an executable .bat file that will do the manual work for you, for example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1003723

Think I have killed my sensation...help :-)

Hi,
I think I have killed my sensation when upgrading the firmware, now its stuck in a boot loop and nothing else. I can enter the boot menu but there are no options to wipe cache or anything else...
I have tried recovering via a RUU file but windows doesn't detect the phone be because of the constant reboots on the loop...
Is it dead ?
Cheers

Take the SD card out and reboot. You need to delete the ps58img off the card. A way to bypass it is to take out the card and reboot. Then when booted insert sd card, delete the img file.
Thanks for the reply,
When I load unto the boot loader after deleting that file there are still no other options other than recovery, simlock, reboot or restart boot loder.. What's the img file you refer too and how would I delete it ?
Thanks again
Put the card into a card adapter and insert it into your pc, browse the files in it and the file mentioned above will be there, delete the file and then you can reinsert the card into your phone.

You need to flash a 3.24 compatible Rom.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
If your able to access recovery, you probably already deleted the file. You need to flash a Rom. Example ARHD 6.1.1
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
I flashed the 3.24 firmware and a 3.24 ROM and all I got was a bootloop. I have read many people have had the same troubles. What I did to solve it was mount the SD card into a computer and delete the PD58IMG.zip and replace it with the 3.12 firmware. Unplug USB and reboot phone into hboot and let hboot install the 3.12 firmware. Worked for me. One time on my mytouch 4g I had an incident where my phone messed up during a flash and even recovery wouldn't come up correctly. All my partitions were ****ed up due to a bad ROM installation. Couldn't be fixed and had to exchange it at tmobile.

the hboot menu (the white screen) does not have the "wipe cache" option...you need to select "recovery" from hboot in order to get to wipe cache and install a rom
if you already installed the new firmware, it should ask you if you want to install it again, you say no, and then you can select recovery

Get this http://db.tt/VTKmP0lQ and extract the recovery.img put it in your adb folder and flash it via fastboot
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Then after you got the recovery back. Do format of all partitions except sd card in 4ext and then restore from backup

Download the correct RUU file for your device. Boot your device into Hboot/boatloader, connect your device to your computer via USB cable. Find the RUU, right click the .exe and select run as administrator. Follow the on screen instructions. Wait until your device reboots to the lock screen and then unplug your device.
This will put you back to complete stock, but you will have a usable device. You can always start over and try again. You should remain HTC Dev unlocked though.

[Q] Help | HTC ONE Mini AT&T stuck on boot after flashing rom

flashed InsertCoin Rom with TWRP, twrp wont open now, and I cant get access to the SD card. The HTC logo only appears when i turn the phone on. can somebody here live chat with me or something??
You should be able to flash the recovery by using the below command when in fastboot
Fastboot flash recovery nameoftwrp.IMG
You will need to cd command to the folder your twrp recovery .img file is.
Also did the install complete or cut off half way through install?
Were you using twrp 2.7.1.1?
Have you completed all the prerequisites in miniwhoopers ic thread?
