Think I have killed my sensation...help :-) - HTC Sensation

Hi,
I think I have killed my sensation when upgrading the firmware, now its stuck in a boot loop and nothing else. I can enter the boot menu but there are no options to wipe cache or anything else...
I have tried recovering via a RUU file but windows doesn't detect the phone be because of the constant reboots on the loop...
Is it dead ?
Cheers

Take the SD card out and reboot. You need to delete the ps58img off the card. A way to bypass it is to take out the card and reboot. Then when booted insert sd card, delete the img file.

Thanks for the reply,
When I load unto the boot loader after deleting that file there are still no other options other than recovery, simlock, reboot or restart boot loder.. What's the img file you refer too and how would I delete it ?
Thanks again

Put the card into a card adapter and insert it into your pc, browse the files in it and the file mentioned above will be there, delete the file and then you can reinsert the card into your phone.

You need to flash a 3.24 compatible Rom.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium

If your able to access recovery, you probably already deleted the file. You need to flash a Rom. Example ARHD 6.1.1
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium

I flashed the 3.24 firmware and a 3.24 ROM and all I got was a bootloop. I have read many people have had the same troubles. What I did to solve it was mount the SD card into a computer and delete the PD58IMG.zip and replace it with the 3.12 firmware. Unplug USB and reboot phone into hboot and let hboot install the 3.12 firmware. Worked for me. One time on my mytouch 4g I had an incident where my phone messed up during a flash and even recovery wouldn't come up correctly. All my partitions were ****ed up due to a bad ROM installation. Couldn't be fixed and had to exchange it at tmobile.

the hboot menu (the white screen) does not have the "wipe cache" option...you need to select "recovery" from hboot in order to get to wipe cache and install a rom
if you already installed the new firmware, it should ask you if you want to install it again, you say no, and then you can select recovery

[Q] Did I brick my HTC Sensation? Please help!

Yesterday I tried to install a custom rom on my HTC Sensation. The sensation had the Dutch Vodafone ROM, updated to the newest version.
I started by following this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300 to the letter and did not encounter any problems.
Then I read a post about the InsertCoin ROM, and started with the recommended download and install of PG58IMG.zip. I did not install the ROM yet. Upon rebooting after installation of PG58IMG.zip the phone now seems to be in a boot loop, it boots untill the "Quitely Brilliant" appears and then reboots again. I removed PG58IMG.zip and reinstalled su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip (as per suggestion in another thread about a boot looped phone). However the phone refuses to install it.
Is there anything I can do the get my phone out of this bootloop?

Ugh.. really? Any idea what went wrong? I imagine I might have done somthing stupid, but I have no idea what.
You can probably fix it. First thing I would try doing is booting to recovery and restoring from the backup(s) you made.
hello i myself am not really familar with that device its one i never played with or researched but i do know that bootloop does not mean your device is bricked if your device is bricked it would simply be a black screen that did nothing something in your bootloader or spl (secondary program loader).
please boot into clockwork mod pull battery hold vol down when it boots do a complete wipe
wipe data / userdata
wipe cache
wipe davlik
then try to reboot see if you can boot then and if not pull out sd card download a rom from your pc to your sd card for your device try a diffrent rom install sd card into your phone boot back into clockwork mod select zip from sd and install most likely it will repair your boot loop.
(YOUR PHONE IS NOT BRICKED)
any ? go to sensation questions and answers and or development they can further benifit you because they deal with that device full time

I had the same problem. Solved it by installing the a compatible (to the new firmware) rom, like InsertCoin 4.3.2. So, tne procedure is:
1. Install firmware by putting PG58IMG.zip on root of sd card
2. remove PG58IMG.zip from root of sd card
3. install InsertCoin 4.3.2 from sd card
Hi buddy. No, you're not bricked. You just flashed a non-compatible ROM, you're all safe. It happened to me once.
A bricked device means a device that is unable to even power up. If it can boot to recovery, or fastboot, you're not bricked. And if you have a bootloop, you're not bricked either.
Do the following:
Battery pull
Put the battery back again
Press and hold the volume down button
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds, while keeping the volume down button
When you get into fastboot, let go volume button
Select recovery using the volume keys and confirming with the power button
There you are! You can flash back your backup... Because you have a backup, right?
@ all; Thanks all for the help! Wiping and restoring backups didn't do the trick, but the suggestions were very welcome since they convinced me I didn't brick my phone
Special thanks to Norad73 and Pyrobisqit; I did have a backup, but not of the firmware it seems, since restoring the backup didn't work <red face>.
Bu the suggestion of the ROM not being compatible with the new firmware was right on the mark. I installed the InsertCoin ROM, and yes it worked! I now have a very nice ICS Sensation
Thanks, thanks, thanks!

[Solved] forgot supercid... help me please

I just got my sensation and I rooted it with S-OFF and CWM recovery. I forgot to install CID and now I tried to flash a rom and it's in a boot loop. I flashed the right firmware but it doesn't help as I don't have CID. I can get into recovery but restoring my backups doesn't work. Please help me.. I really need it.
Edit: fixed it

Did you try wiping and flashing a new rom
Sent from Sensation powered by ICS
Bricked = does not work, but your does.
1. Wipe everything first, then flash a new ROM.
2. If you can get to fastboot there you can do the CID step.

If you're firmware is still on the SD Card start from step 1, otherwise just go straight to step 2.
1. Remove SD Card
2. Boot to Recovery
3. Insert SD Card
4. Toggle USB Storage(if there is one on CWM, I can't remember)
5. Download the correct firmware and place it on the SD Card after checking MD5's
6. Reboot to bootloader and flash firmware
7. Repeat, but instead of firmware, replace that with the word ROM.
I hope that helps.

I CAN get into fastboot but adb does not recognize my device so I can't do CID.
And now I'm pretty sure it doesn't charge.... the LED never turns on when it's plugged in.
HTC drivers installed? You using the original USB cable ? (I heard about weird issues with non-genuine cable).
If not at least install HTCDrivers (or HTCSync) and then your PC should recognize your device.
If you can still turn on your phone and gives "life signs" it is not bricked.

Get this http://db.tt/VTKmP0lQ and extract the recovery.img put it in your adb folder and flash it via fastboot
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Then after you got the recovery back. Do format of all partitions except sd card in 4ext and then restore from backup

Download the correct RUU file for your device. Boot your device into Hboot/boatloader, connect your device to your computer via USB cable. Find the RUU, right click the .exe and select run as administrator. Follow the on screen instructions. Wait until your device reboots to the lock screen and then unplug your device.
This will put you back to complete stock, but you will have a usable device. You can always start over and try again. You should remain HTC Dev unlocked though.

Hi all, so I am helping my nephew trying to fix his sensation, but I dont know if I can...he just got it used, and it hadnt been rooted...he helped me root mine way back when....so He said he htc dev the phone all went well, unlocked, s-on and cwm touch, and flashed SU...BUT..he flashed elegancia Pegasus..but after helping him try to fix it i noticed in his phone he is hboot 1.27...so he has s-on still...he did not make a backup...(I asked, he said wasnt sure why)...lol...so now...his phone will go into cwm recovery, but nothing to recover...if he reboots it and does nothing, he is stuck at htc splash screen ....nothing happens...and can alsoget into hboot...bootloader etc etc...just no OS basically...I have tried all kinds of stuff to help him but I just dont know what to do next...can someone please help and see if we cant at least get his phone working again?..."Uncle cant afford to buy him a new phone"...and he isnt getting mine...lol....when i tried to get it in usb mode through recovery to try to get some files to the phone it says something like ums lumpfile??..something like that also...this thing is messed up....please dont give me links with more confusion...lol....I need one on one here folks....Thanks so much,,,,

You need to flash the boot.img of the ROM that is why the device will not boot into the OS. You can either use fastboot commands or flash 4 EXT Recovery and use the Smart Flash in it. Download this PG58IMG.zip and place it on the root of your SD card, you can put his SD card in your Sensation and download the file to the SD card. Jusgt make sure you move it to the root of the SD card. Then put the SD card in his Sensation and power the device on holding the volume down button down. When Hboot comes up it will detect the file and ask you if you want to flash it, press the volume up button and let it flash. Then take the SD card out of the device and press the power button to reboot the device. Next put the SD card with the ROM in the device and select recovery. When 4 EXT Recovery boots up select tools and then enable Smart Flash and then go back to the main menu and select install from sdcard thenn select choose zip fromsdcard and then select the ROM. Press yes and let the ROM flash and then reboot the device. It will flash the boot.img when it reboots and then reboot again and you should have a working device again.
I dont have a rom on the phone...that I know of...where can i get the stock one at?...really confused here, also i did the above file Pg58img and it said cid incorrect..update fail...where can i get the 4ext recovery?..ty so much!!!!!
I did some searching and found that the 4ext is an apk...cant use that as I have no useable phone....
I fixed it, had to push the correct firmware to phone, and installed ext4 recovery, and it worked fine...thanks for the help

Bricked (temp hopefully)

Trying to flash the new stock sense 5 rom phone is stuck in a loop that I cant get it out of.
Rogers HTC One XL
hboot 2.14
bootloader unlocked.
Followed this guide to unlocked bootloader.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1952038
Copied the stock 4.2.2 sense 5 rom and super su zips onto my sd card.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2423735
Then I booted into twrp and flashed the stock 4.2.2 rom and was prompted to flash super su as well.
flashed both files and reset the phone.
The phone boots up and shows the htc screen, then goes to a black screen.
Holding power down just makes the three softbuttons flash three times, then the phone resets and goes back to the black screen.
EDIT:
I can get into the recovery menu, but everything fails.

once you unlock the bootloader you cannot factory reset in hboot menu anymore.
flash twrp 2.6, wipe sd card on twrp (wipe - advanced), mount, copy rom over, wipe everything except sd card then flash your rom.
if youre s-on you have to extract the boot.img from the rom you flashed and:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
