I tried to flash AOKP and that continuously crashes about 30 seconds after boot. Then i tried to flash clockwork recovery on top of 4ext touch recover(i know, stupid). Now i cannot get to recovery or the rom. What can i do? I can still get to the bootloader screen.
PLEASE HELP!!! I need my phone.

Get this http://db.tt/VTKmP0lQ and extract the recovery.img put it in your adb folder and flash it via fastboot
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Then after you got the recovery back. Do format of all partitions except sd card in 4ext and then restore from backup

Download the correct RUU file for your device. Boot your device into Hboot/boatloader, connect your device to your computer via USB cable. Find the RUU, right click the .exe and select run as administrator. Follow the on screen instructions. Wait until your device reboots to the lock screen and then unplug your device.
This will put you back to complete stock, but you will have a usable device. You can always start over and try again. You should remain HTC Dev unlocked though.

I was just about to try updating from NScollab 1.0.39 to 1.0.40 and for some reason my nexus s refuses to boot into recovery. It doesn't seem to exist anymore. Im not sure if it is related or not but my phone became very laggy after my first failed attempt to boot into recovery. I tried fixing user permissions and rebooting many many times but it doesn't seem to help.
What does it do when u try to boot into recovery?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
It doesnt do anything. It just reboots into the bootloader.
Thank you for the quick reply
edit:
i tried flashing recovery again through rom manager and now whenever i try to boot into recovery it just hangs at the google logo with the unlocked padlock.
Hmmm
Do me a quick favor.
go here:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Ne...de#Installing_the_ClockworkMod_Recovery_Image
and download the 4.0.0.2 recovery image and save it to some directory on ur computer
then follow these steps:
1. Open up command prompt/terminal and plug in phone to computer
2. Type "adb reboot bootloader"
3. It will take you to fastboot mode. Now type "fastboot erase recovery"
4. Then type fastboot "flash recovery ____.img"
( ____ is the name of the recovery img file)
5. Now it will flash and once it says "OKAY" then scroll down using volume down into recovery and see what happens
plz get back to me bout this!

Thank you so much for the quick help! btw i updated recovery from rom manager and i ran into the same problem with it not booting into recovery so i am guessing there is a problem with the latest version of recovery? I'll just reflash through the instructions you gave me.

Hi,
I think I have killed my sensation when upgrading the firmware, now its stuck in a boot loop and nothing else. I can enter the boot menu but there are no options to wipe cache or anything else...
I have tried recovering via a RUU file but windows doesn't detect the phone be because of the constant reboots on the loop...
Is it dead ?
Cheers

Take the SD card out and reboot. You need to delete the ps58img off the card. A way to bypass it is to take out the card and reboot. Then when booted insert sd card, delete the img file.
Thanks for the reply,
When I load unto the boot loader after deleting that file there are still no other options other than recovery, simlock, reboot or restart boot loder.. What's the img file you refer too and how would I delete it ?
Thanks again
Put the card into a card adapter and insert it into your pc, browse the files in it and the file mentioned above will be there, delete the file and then you can reinsert the card into your phone.

You need to flash a 3.24 compatible Rom.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
If your able to access recovery, you probably already deleted the file. You need to flash a Rom. Example ARHD 6.1.1
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
I flashed the 3.24 firmware and a 3.24 ROM and all I got was a bootloop. I have read many people have had the same troubles. What I did to solve it was mount the SD card into a computer and delete the PD58IMG.zip and replace it with the 3.12 firmware. Unplug USB and reboot phone into hboot and let hboot install the 3.12 firmware. Worked for me. One time on my mytouch 4g I had an incident where my phone messed up during a flash and even recovery wouldn't come up correctly. All my partitions were ****ed up due to a bad ROM installation. Couldn't be fixed and had to exchange it at tmobile.

the hboot menu (the white screen) does not have the "wipe cache" option...you need to select "recovery" from hboot in order to get to wipe cache and install a rom
if you already installed the new firmware, it should ask you if you want to install it again, you say no, and then you can select recovery

Are you confortable with using ADB?
If not let me help you.
You will need
1- HTC Sync (http://dl4.htc.com/managed-assets/support/software/htc-sync/setup_3.0.5617.exe)
2- ADB (Go to my firmware thread, link is in my sig, I have it zipped on post 1)
3 - Install HTC Sync
4 - Unzip ADB Windows
5 - Download the recovery.img I've attached to this thread and put it in the ADB directory you unzipped
6 - Open a command prompt in windows (cmd.exe) and go to the directory you unzipped the ADB zip at
7 - Boot your phone into the bootloader and plug into the PC
8 - In the command prompt type in "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
9 - Once it is finished installing choose recovery in bootloader
10 - You should be good.
thanks for help but htc sync don't detect my phone what should i do now? I have tried changing usb ports too
I've had a good search for this stuff and I'm having a hard time. Now my phone wont boot.
I have rooted the phone using the HTC One X all in one tool, but then couldnt get it to install Clockwork touch 5.8.2.4 which is included with that.
I found the CWM section in here that linked me to a one click install for Clockwork touch 5.8.3.1 which installed ok, and allowed me access.
I then attempted to install from zip the menubarmod to remove the 3 Dot menu.
After that, the phone makes it past the first htc screen, the telstra screen and then hangs on the second htc one screen after the animation...
So I'm freaking out a little...
Device is a stock HTC ONE XL on Telstra.
Try to do a factory reset in CWM. After that, try to boot the phone. If it doesn't boot, relock the phone and flash the RUU.
Put your phone into fast boot mode by turning it off, holding down the volume down button, and turning it on while still in fast boot mode.
Download the RUU from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1691295
Then connect your phone to the PC and start the .exe you just downloaded. Follow the steps it tells you exactly.

Looks like thats working now. Thanks heaps!
Can you shed some light on where I went wrong? Essentially I'm trying to remove the 3 dot menu that appears on some apps that havent been updated properly for ICS and the one X.
I have a feeling it was to do with the unlock method I used being for the one x not the one xl on telstra?
Hi,
I have a rooted device and installed CM9 for testing. Then I went into recovery and wiped everything, set to factory defaults and erased sdcard. Now the Sensation boots and hangs when the HTC Logo appears. I cannot get into recovery anymore and when plugged into my computer the device is not recognized even though I have the fastboot driver installed and the normal usb_drivers.
How could I get my device working again? Thanks

Unfortunately that won't work, because the relies on the the fact, that I am in fastboot. I cannot get into fastboot. I read that EXTRA1, which suggests in my case to go to EXTRA4.
P.s. I do not now if I have s-on or off. Sorry, but I forgot to look it up before I wiped eveything
Sory, I was wrong. I am now in fastboot
Great. Everything works fine again. Thanks
