I need all the files extracted from this specific boot.img of our andriod P920 i can't tell you what i need it for but i promise you it is for an amazing project i am working on alone and if it works then you guys will love it too.. It is not a kernel that i am working on but it is important that i get these files so please help me get the ramdisk img and all the files inside it and i promise you it will be worth all the hard work and effort...
So please if your a dev please help me out and extract the ramdisk and the files inside i will be grateful. Please extract all the files.. these are the files i need from the ram disk it self.. but upload everything you extract please and thank you ....
./init.devicename.rc
./default.prop
./proc
./dev
./init.rc
./init
./sys
./init.goldfish.rc
./sbin
./sbin/adbd
./system
./data
So download the boot.img extract all the files from the ramdisk and give me the files thank you

seems like someone is using the guide suggested in the other thread to pull the lg proprietary 3d framework... I wish u good luck man. I really wish I could help but I am clueless as to how to pull the ramdisc files.
There is a thread about how to decompile and compile boot.img on thrill 4G forum under development + I guess the same thread was ported here under development as well, check it out and if you don't find send me a PM and I will tell you how to do.

If you read my original post this file sammo has provided is for you to extract the boot.img file of our P920 this way you can make kernels and stuff and if you know what your doing you can also steal a few files from the actual ramdisk and do stuff with it...
Im starting with customs roms, and i make one, but i tried many times, extract the boot.img, and alway give a error, if you might explain me, how to extract the boot.img. I'll happy all day, jaja, and thank you for everything, excuse me for me stupid mind.

lets make it simple for you first you must have ubuntu then you open terminal and type mkdir boot-tools this will make a boot-tools directory in your home directory then you type git clone git://github.com/bedwa/LG_Waggle_Kernel.git and it will save the kernel which you may and may not need and the tools you need to unpack the boot.img with and the instructions on how to use it is on the page sammo posted...
Hey Meemo23, i have root explorer installed and i can see all those files, can i just copy and paste into a folder on my sdcard , or do i have to install ubuntu and pull it??

Move the file with root explorer to /system/app
Just use Root explorer to move the file to /system/app and make sure the permissions are set correctly on it, then reboot and it should work fine I had to add that to BB 0.5 for some reason and it works just great.

Maybe because the ROM structures are diferents?
Don't try to use files from SGS FW (the tuto from Nokia7Vista its about this phone, not SG3).
Its just a knowledge base to us!

I was (half) asking if its possible. I think you need to extract some files from jpf. modem.bin and zimage are easy to extract, however redbend_ua? What is it used for? Also what is the META_INF folder used for? Is it possible that it is not firware specific?

This is helpful to those who know what they are doing. However most of those people would already know how to do this no? What would be even more helpful is a tut on how to do this.

I have an app called stickmount that I would like to put into this zip. The apk seems to already have a meta-inf with certs. Do I delete that dir and just insert the rest of the files and folders from the apk into your empty.zip? I have zipsigner on my android to sign the zip file when done. If you want I can attach the file so you can view the tree?
I would like to install this app from twrp.
Thanks

Most Theme Dev's could care less about how a zip file is made, they just need something they can flash with the proper mount points and binaries to distribute there work.
This zip makes it easy for that.
If you want a tutorial you can ask in Q/A and I can explain how to make these if you need help. But I am sure there are already hundreds of tutorials on how to make flash able zip. Thats how I learned :good:

No, those folders are for that specific app. You could place the app in the system/app/ folder and pay special attention to any lib files.

Thanks for this and I agree. I could always do this myself if I had to but I love when all I have to do is grab this and throw my stuff in it and am 100% confident that everything is right.
