[Q] Rom Recommendation - HTC Inspire 4G

Hey guys,
I've been out of the flashing game for some time now and looking for a fresh rom.
Some of the things I really look for are,
-solid battery life
-good camera interface (ive taken over 1600 photos since sep 2011)
-I hate a phone that freezes and WILL SACRIFICE bells and whistles for it
-I DIS-like the sense feature that allows the screens to rotate like a carosel (iv done it waay too many times on accident)
I will say I do prefer sense, for all the built in features that are very stable. But since the inspire has been out for a while maybe some of the alternates have STABLE features BUILT IN.
Here are a few that I really enjoyed
-Gingerbeast....can you say battery life and stability!!
-LeeDroid....the first rom i ever tried, good balance of features
-WCX_Sense....sense done beautifully! (not great battery life though)
and here are a couple roms that didn't fit my personality/desires
-virtuous unity 1.27
-original rumrunner
-ace miui
**I'm not a fan of adding a lot from the market** I usually find this slows the phone and adds to the stability issues
Open to try anything that you guys think would work well...even if its an updated version of something i didn't really like last time around
Thanks!

Coredroid is really good, its my preferred sense rom. lots of tweaking options within it.

WOW and removing apk's was pointless, (lmao). What one ROM may work great for one person may not work great for another. You have to try them out yourself. I love Redemption 4.0 has its small issues, but also Absolution 3.7 is very solid.

I tried to explain what features are important to myself
I did not ask what is the best rom, or what is your favorite, simply which current rom will fit MY listed preferences best.
Wasn't trying to make this a super generic newb post...

and with respect. this is a development site. its a collection of projects and hacks. this isnt a library where you ask about a genre of books and we take you to them. just download and try. best bet

Virtuous Affinity seems to be pretty solid for a sense ROM. RCMix3D Runny 4.0 was also pretty best. I use my phone heavily and haven't noticed many bugs on Virtuous Affinity so I would recommend it to you.

I always recommend CM7

If you are looking for stability, no carosel, and the best battery life I have ever experienced give the Juicy R2 version ROM a try. The link is in my sig. It is Gingerbread 2.3.3 and Sense 2.5. No added mods, or bells and whistles. Seriously thinking of going back to it myself. Using WCX at the moment. It is a great ROM but I have to agree that it is not the best for battery life. I can do without the new weather app in 3.0 and 3.5.

Sounds like that might be the first one I try. Thanks for all the comments guys, sorry for distracting and using the site for something it wasn't intended for.

Only joking here: but darunion gets yelled at by the mods sometimes, so it's good.

I Would beg to differ on this.
Now for the OP see one of the biggest issues is that a rom could run 100% on my device but not on yours. That is the reason for the try them out yourself and see what works best for you.

You got it.

Roms are very subjective as everybody has told you. I would recommend CoreDroid V9.4 that is truly awesome and battery life great. RCmix and WCX have been discontinued unfortunately, so I would just use a rom that is still supported. Anyway, all roms in here are great and very smooth and stable. In the end, it will depend on what you like....

Opinions on current jvb ROMS

Ive been hooked on MIUI for the past month and love the ui and ROM but I've been thinking about trying out a new jvb rom. I just want to know what peoples thoughts are on perception 2, gr-x, and continuum v5. That being said I know there is no best rom. I am just asking what everyone's favorite aspects/features are of each rom. And please don't say to flash them and find what works for me. I wont be able to flash for a week and have and opinion formulated.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA Premium App
Read the features of each and decide for yourself. They are all fast and smooth.
So your choice comes down to which dev you like most basically!
Samsung Galaxy S i896 on Cezar's Continuum v5 GingerBread
gr-11 is fast beautiful and polishd but support for flac and maybe other codecs is missing, still trying to isolate the missing files. perception is very quick but the talon kernel breaks my gps. this is not typical. then there is c5 which is great all around but gr-11 has much cleaner and better looking implimentation of tw4. then there is subpression, i havent tried the v2 if this yet but it is very light and my sd card wouldnt mount to linux when i tried it. subpression also has touchwiz4 but on v1 which i tried it was that one with the ugly glass bubble icon and very slow.
At the moment I'm on GR-11. Great battery life, really stable.
It really depends on what you're looking for in a rom, though. MIUI and CM7 are going to give you a really custom experience, obviously. GR-X is going a fairly vanilla experience relatively.

ya i've only heard good stuff about gr-11, even DG has said its the best jvb rom out there. and i completely agree about miui and cm7. ive been on both and they're great but i can only stay on one rom for so long before wanting to test something else out.
not sure if we can but it would be sick if we could combine some of continuum's themes with gr-11. from what ive seen theyre sick.
and what to you guys think of tw 4.0? i find it kinda weird that everyone is so interested in it when almost everyone hated tw 3. maybe its just the latest and greatest and will pass over eventually
i like the stock implimentation of tw4. i also like tw3 so take that for what it is. the themed tw4 that is floating around is too slow and the icons dont match and features dont work. in gr11 tw4 (that's the stock one) is great, good looking and no slower than tw3 with the addition of support folders in the app drawer and easier editing with a way to pull icons into a blank page @ the bottom of the screen. also it has a widget picker similar to the way miui is implimented.
Im on Continuum and Im loving it. Im gonna wait another day or two for Phoenix to release something before trying Perception though
Just installed GR-11 and I gotta say I'm impressed. I know Quadrant scores don't mean much but check out the cpu score. This is on xcal kernel (the one that comes with GR) on RFS

Best rom and kernel for battery life?

which rom and kernel and you using and what type of battery life are you getting? im using faux 0.03 kernel on interactive setting and the senseless rom 1.3 and with heavy use im getting about 5 hrs, how about everyone else?
I tried InsertCoin and Revolution HD and the battery life was awful. Everyone said I needed to calibrate my battery, let it charge and die a few times but none of that worked. I went back to stock and I got over a day and a half

Exactly my reason for avoiding ROMs. Its too bad people here get so pissy when you wont try their fav. ROM.
I am holding out for CM7. They have a GREAT reputation!
BTW-For all those that are using a min clock speed of 300+Mhz, I notice that my STOCK cpu min is 192Mhz. Try dropping your min speed down some, as that seems to be what the stock ROM uses...

Alright, I guess some things need to be SPELLED out for some here...
I meant to say, CUSTOM ROMS, as in, ROMS built by everyone and their grandma here.
Seems everyone has their own ROM these days...And I read a LOT of complaints about them. Please, dont go to bat for the ROMs. Everyone gets to have an opinion, let me have mine this time and back off. We have valid complaints.
Why is it that anytime someone here mentions anything slightly less than great about a ROM, someone with jungle fever has to step in and twist their nuts?

What he's saying is he's waiting for a custom ROM with no Sense and good reputation (i.e. CM7) to come along, then he'll flash that. He doesn't want to flash any custom ROM because he's heard bad things about some, which may or may not be true. You got a problem with that?
Personally, my favourite custom ROMs for the Sensation are InsertCoin 2.2 and Android Revolution HD. I'm not gonna flash any more ROMs until I can completely refresh my Sensation and put a clean, small ROM on it, without Sense. That ROM is CM7

I find it interesting that there are a handful of turds, including you, that go around making trouble for people. Are you THAT unhappy with life that you need to make others unhappy?
I believe most people here would agree that my point was made, correctly. Whats your age? I feel like I am arguing with a teenager that has yet to make it to Algebra 2. (No offense to those that HAVENT had Algebra 2...)

After saying that my battery life on those ROMs was "awful" I feel the need to follow up. I posted a bit about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16852910#post16852910 but the short story is I'm now on Revolution HD 3.0.0 and after some research I found that the Facebook apps are doing something with the Calendar which was draining the battery. I'm only a few hours in, but so far so good with no account being added to either Facebook app.

Endymion is the fastest and best performing sense ROM for the ds, in my opinion.
I used to find sense 3 faster.... but that was before Endymion.
Beamed from the Dark Side using xda premium.
Ditto. Before Endy, all Sense 3.5 roms were base on leaked betas, so they were laggy. Endymion is the fastest, and stable too.
+1
HTC optimized 3.5 for speed, functionally and efficientcy.
It's a much appreciated upgrade from 3.0

Now you've pissed off the AOSP champion!!
Lol..
Been meaning to try out ICS myself... but am sticking to Reaper till HTC releases a new kernel and drivers specific to ICS... I'm all for bleeding edge experience, but dirty hacks for libs and drivers seem like a compromise to me (HD2 runs everything... but if you've run them, you'll know what i'm talking about)
So while i'll keep fooling around with the alpha betas and "RC"s, properly optimized ICS is still a couple of months away (I mean, we've had GB for ages now, and even today, ROMs like Reaper and Endymion are still exploiting more and more of it... milking out more juice than we knew we could) I'm looking at April or May as a timeline for an ICS ROM that will run as smoothly as most GB roms run on the DS today... and a little longer for something akin to Reaper on ICS.
Cheers.

Hit the nail right on the head. But still, i can't go to GB AOSP, i find ICS a lot better. I can't go back to sense, it doesn't play well with my apps. So I'm kinda stuck I still like Quattro, a score doesn't prove anything. My apps feel faster than GB, especially HD games like Blood and Glory.

No doubt Endymion is the fastest but Energy RCMix 4.0 Energized BLUE Edition is also a good one. It is fast and very stable rom.
For me Runydroid v3.0 or v4.0 are lighters and fasters than the others rom. They are very stable too.

Need Some Testers [Team Inferno]

Hey guys, i live over in the Mytouch 4g forums, and i am part of Team Inferno. I am a Rom/Kernel/Modding dev on Team Inferno and we want to branch out and support other devices. My mod can support all HTC devices but i need testers to...test it haha. My mod adds governors without modifying the kernel. I currently have support for all sense versions, ICS AOSP and AOKP in Desire HD, Inspire 4g, and the Mytouch 4g. You can check out my thread in the desire hd forum (Because its laid out better there than in the mytouch forums). Its called INDIAN MADNESS. Post if you would like to apply .
Devices that I will support soon:
Sensation 4g
Amaze 4g
Mytouch 4g Slide
One S
Devices that i hope to support:
One X
One V
Assorted others
Devices that my mod will work on:
All HTC devices
Positions that i am looking for
Head Tester- Will get get the results from the other testers and send them back to Team Inferno, you will also test
Tester- Just test stuff
Thanks for all your help and you'll definetly get credit!!!
Would you be able to test it with any kernel or would you have to have a stock kernel?
I am currently testing a ROM for toryheal right now but would be interested in testing this if I can.

Its flashed on top of any sense, Aosp or Aokp rom. No kernel is included in the package nor is a special kernel needed for the mod to run.
Edit: Just saw the second half of the post, great! Just tester or head tester?
Tester=tests
Head Tester= A bit more, all other testers report to him/her and he/she reports to me. In turn, i give them information that they disperse.
here is the desire HD thread for your enjoyment
I can be a head tester I guess, lol....
I will look at the thread you posted here before too much longer. Are you looking to just see if this allows under clocking and over clocking when installed? Also it would probably be best to test this on stock kernels and not custom kernels to make sure it works as you want it to, you know without changes in the kernel. Most custom kernels have the clocking already in them so they may give false positive results.

This rewrites the custom kernel's OC. And includes my own OC settings which tend to give amazing battery life coupled with a couple scripts What i want people to test is
1. Will it actually flash
2. Is performance faster
3. Is battery life better

Ok that sounds cool to me, it actually will work out good for me as the ROM I am testing right now has had some pretty bad battery performance. Give me a little while and I will see if the file will flash for me via 4EXT Recovery. I am flashing the new test version of the ROM I am testing so I will have to do the set up and run some test before I can try to flash this.

Edit: I realized that I must have tried to flash the non-Sense version, the MADness v1.2.zip. I let my battery recharge to 100% again and I tried flashing the other INDIAN MADNESS.zip and it flashed. It did flash successfully and I will post a screen shot of my battery usage graph tomorrow sometime when I get to 20% to 10% battery level. And just so you know I am using RMS DX4 1.0.1 wich is Android 4.0.4 and Scense 4.0.
I think I'm going to test this test

So many ROM's.... Which one?

After work tonight I'm gonna dive in and unlock my HOX bootloader and dive in to some new ROM's. I see there are now a multitude of choices here, and I am wondering if I could get some feedback regarding which ones are viewed best. Fast, clean, best battery life, customizability... so many criteria I'm a bit confused. Any guidance here would be greatly appreciated.
This should be in Q&A but try clean ROM it's the best in my opinion.....now prepare to be flamed...

The second I clicked "post" I realized I put this in the wrong forum. I am SO sorry. I don't know how to move it. I hope the Mods move it for me. I don't want to be flamed! I'm really sorry.
FLAME!
i'm sure the mods will move this at some point.
personally, i like clean rom DE, sense is pretty, but it's such a huge resource hog still, aosp ICS is so much lighter on ram, even in its faux aosp iteration on our phones.

Duuude, you're sooo stooopid.
Just kidding.
Its not that hard. If you intend to flash the "typical" way using CWM, and not mess with desktop installers then that excludes Magnolia and Sirius (these were released before the bootloader was unlocked) . At least until they are updated to flash via CWM.
There is a stock deodexed 1.85 ROM, and a 1.88 ROM. But as the names tell you, they are just stock ROMs, just deodexed. Good if you want a base to do other mods (which often require deodex) but that's about it. And 1.88 is based on an Asian ROM, and it breaks AT&T LTE.
What you have left is only 3 custom ROMs. CleanROM DE has an AOSP look, if you are looking for that. If you like Sense, pick CleanROM or Nocturnal. CleanROM is somewhat close to stock, but with performance tweaks and other mods, and de-bloated. Nocturnal looks to have lots of customization options when you flash thanks to AROMA. I haven't personally tried Nocturnal. But I've used ROMs on a previous phone that utilize AROMA, and its very slick.
If you want to see the current ROMs listed in an organized fashion, have a look at my index thread (shameless self promotion):

That's all there is to it, at least for now. Hopefully we'll have a lot more to choose from soon! That's one first world problem I would like to have . . .
Can't go wrong with cleanrom, I've been using his roms on a few phones, I love it.

Wrong section
For me I came to the HOX from my GNex so my assumption was I was going to want to get closer to AOSP / CM9 as soon as possible.
I was surprised to really enjoy a few different tweaks to Sense that HTC has done like the lock screen shortcuts which I use constantly.
For me I have been sticking with CleanROM since the 2.0 version. It has been very very stable and the little tweaks available by default are really everything I want.
I'm really enjoying CleanROM DE. Smooth and ASOP elements are sexy.
