Sent from my GT-S5670 using XDA

The items backed up are:
cache.ext4 >> Cache Partition
boot.img >> Boot Image
.android_secure.vfat >> .android_secure folder on SD Card
data.ext4 >> Data Folder (phone)
recovery >> Recovery Partition
sd-ext.ext4 >> SD-Ext Partition
system.ext4 >> System Folder (phone)
Everything included in this will be backed up.
it will work perfectly as long as you don't try and edit any of the files.

I'm using V2froyoXToptimized update v2 v3 update

did you unrar the file and then place it in sdcard/nandroid/openrecovery or just place the rar. you must first unrar khals rom down to just the folder with boot.img boot.md5 system.img and system.md5 in it then place the folder with those in the sdcard/nandroid/openrecovery folder
the procedure that you're saying I have performed and the result is that in post....
so inside the Xtmiuioptimized folder there is 4 items? boot.img boot.md5 system.img and system.md5? and in open recovery when you select xtmiuioptimized in the restore menu it should say only boot and system in the restore options.
yes..the files are 4
restore option for xtmiuioptimized
go back
restore all
restore selected
The directory structure on the sdcard should be...
Code:
/sdcard
/nandroid
/openrecovery
/xtmiuioptimized
boot.img
boot.md5
system.img
system.md5
if your folders match these I would try coping them from your pc again.
Çheck restore all and if that doesn't work your file might be corrupt so try tranfering the folder again.
is the path and just... 3rdstring...Thank you
easye420.. I had already tried I'll try again tomorrow...Thank you
did you try checking the boxs next to system and boot in the partitions sections of the restore menu in open recovery. try that and if that doesnt work and you say you already tried replacing the folder and that didnt work id say your download must have been corrupt id try to redownload it and try again. this happened to me before and if that doesnt work try try making a back up of your current phone and restoring that back up and see if that works. and if that doesnt work try reistalling Open recovery thru the system recovery app and try again. lot of trial and error unless anyone else has better ideas
The ROMs we're flashing only update boot and system. When nandroid restore says "not backed up" it just means it's skipping restore of a partition because there isn't a backup to restore. It's harmless.

if you reed his first post its says all partitions are not back up boot and system included. so its like theres nothing in the folder to restore like restoring a empty folder.
exact is just so happens to me
solved
extract rar folder then take the (sub xtmiuioptimized folder) and put the SD card installed .... ok .......sorry

Fast changing ROMs !

Alright, I have no declaration for it, but I found out, how to change quick between Creeds ROM1.5 and CM7.2 [port]
The Procedure is always the same, anyways if you installed CM7.2 first or Creeds ROM1.5 (if you already have a backup of both ROMs)
- Reboot to Recovery Mode
- Select Wipe data and cache , and also format /system
- Select restore (from backup and restore menu)
- Select according backup from sd card
- Wait till the recovery is finished
- reboot system
There you are.

All right when we have backed up the Rom, and we are restoring from CWM what all do we need to flash? Just system or the others too

nope, no need to flash it... just go to CWM and open backup and restore and chose either to restore or do an advance restore where you can choose which part of the backup you'd want to restore...
hope this helps...
hey, i have most noobish question ever, but when u say back up rom, i do that with for example titanium backup root? and then when i want to restore my current rom setings i just restore it from files on titanium backup, witch i need to transfer to pc before i format sd, rite?

I don´t exactly what Titanium Backup does, but I think it is more for the apps only. I think most use CWM recovery, which is flashed to Recovery of the ROM (no app). This backups EVERYTHING. Apps, System, preferences and data.
hey, got problem with latest cwm recovery, i instaled it from instructions from author, flashed with odin etc, entered cwm recovery afther boot, and went to backup, it fails at cant mount /system

should not be, but just for information, try mount manually (mounts and storage ---> mount /system)
Another question. My bro has a Fit running 2.2 Froyo my questions are these
1. What is the upgrade path. Flash stock 2.3(DDKT1 or DXKT4)
2. Flash CWM (4 or 5)?
3. Restore with .zip from CWM?
PS: I own a Galaxy 551 its mostly OnePackage for that
Thanks
Hmmm yep thts currect

[Q] Lost backup files

I wipe catche sys dalvik then factory reset then flash rom (liquidsmooth 2.10) gaaps and bms kernel after all that i was setting back up my settings apps etc then realized i needed something from my txt saved on backup file so i put back my backup files to internal storage wen i go to TWRP restore thers no files there but i can see the files in es file explorer.. Any suggestions how to get my backups back so twrp can restore them
What directory did you place your backup files in? It's possible they got wiped. I know it doesn't help now but I recommend buying TitaniumBackup it's the best app I've used for those types of issues.

[Q] Nandroid backup, app and sdext

Good morning, I'm here to do some questions about the nandroid backup.
Fist of all I'm using rashed's cm10.1.5 with halo and I have s2e installed and all running smoothly. I also have Clockwork 5.Now the questions.
1- Can I do a nandroid backup from my clockwork? Do I have to install something? Or something like that? What is the easy way to make a backup of my data?
2- In case I decide to change the rom, can I get my app back with my nandroid backup? How?
3- Will my ext partition in the sd work like before? I mean if the nandroid backup will restore my s2e, my app in the ext partition and the script or it will show an error because the appdata will take more space than the free space in the phone. For example I have my ext part with 400mb occupied. So I do a nandroid backup. When I'm going to restore it, it will restore to te ext, or to the phone?
3- I think this is not number free but number 6534532, and it's a noob (very nooooob) question. I always have trouble when a zip says "flash it from recovery" or "Install it from recovery" and all that options. How I know when I have to choose "Install ZIP from sd card" or "Install UPDATE from sd card"? what is the difference? -because I think that I have half bricked (bootloops, stuck in logo) a lot of times because from this. Thanks from now.
And please forgive my english, my noobing and the big number of questions.
1. Yes you can do a nandroid backup from CWM
2. As CWM backups all the data i.e settings,Google accounts but AFAIK you may lose the apps which were on SDcard
If all apps are on internal memory then you will not lose them (If you want, you can backup all your apps with MyBackup Root)
3. SDext partition has been a hit-and-miss for me on CWM
It did not restore my sdext backup sometimes and when it did, the ROM boot looped
TWRP is the best for wiping/backup/restoring SDext backup
6534532. Choose Install ZIP from SD card.
Install update from SD card means it flashes /sdcard/update.zip from SD card if it exists
Always use 'Install zip'

mmm The bakcup save the app in the phone. But how about the symlinks that are created in the phone that directs to the ext? It will backup the app anyway in the ext or only will backup the "Link"?
Another question. The Dalvik cache is important? Because I can move all the app to the phone, but if I move the app, the app data and the dalvik cache all that get bigger than my internal memory, but if I move only the app and the app data it fits perfectly. So can i backup the app and the data only and wipe the dalvikcache?
Dalvik cache is not important while backing up
AFAIK SDext backup saves the links only
But I have limited knowledge on SDext backups
Asking @ibub @Junior Einstein and @shinobisoft

I think I'll move all the app and the appdata to internal memory and then do the backup. So all the app and the data will be saved. And after flashing rom y will put it. But the dalvik cache i'll leave in the sdext. So it will be erased, but i was thinking it doens't matter, but I wanted an expert opinion, to aovid getting bootloops or have to reflash the rom 2 or 3 times or whatever problem can be found. Thanks a lot.

The backups, for any partition, besides cache and dalvik cache, are exact duplicate images of the partition(s). Comparable to that of an ISO image for the PC.

If you choose to backup both sd-ext and the data then the apps symlinked to the sd-ext will be restored on restoring from the clockwork recovery...
Hit thanks if i helped you.. !

Can I restore factory defaults using a custom rom?

Can I restore factory defaults using a custom rom? Can I through the settings or through TWRP tbm? Will the rom continue to work?
You can delete your apps and app data in TWRP (Wipe) or delete all user data including the emulated sdcard (Wipe -> Advanced -> Format Data). You can reinstall the full stock ROM using fastboot.
