Hi guys,
I have problem right now. Im in Philippines and was using a globe telecom sim. its a prepaid sim though.
everything was okay. I woke up this morning with everything working including data coverage etc2.
then later decided to flash a Sense 4 ROM, wiped everything except for the sd then flashed the sense 4 rom.went ok
then to my surprise Ive got no signal, after the setup screen i went to check and see if it connects to my carrier, it sees the three available carriers in my country but wont connect. tried manually search and auto buth with no dice.
then I decided to reflash with full wipe again but still no joy, inserted a Sun Cellular prepaid sim and its okay, switched off the phone and re inserted my globe sim, and there it is again no signal.
then later went and decided to go back to elegancia. thought everything will be okay but still the same.
tried putting my globe to my other phone and seems ok, calls, txt and data works.
tried another globe sim and still wont work
my phone came from singapore. it is factory unlocked sim free.
I wonder what's the culprit?
tried reading some threads related but with no joy
any help would be greatfully appreciated
Ive got the latest bootloader
S-off
Latest radio
latest base
elegancia 3.3.5
in short my problem is Im with two carriers.
globe and sun.
globe was and always has been on my sensation, sun is my secondary sim was using it on my bold
now globe suddenly wont work but other carriers are. I have another globe sim on my mt4g. tried it on my sensation and wont work, tried the sim from sensation and works on mt4g and bb. weird.
my phone isn't blacklisted. I think? how can it be blacklisted if I bought it in singapore and uaing it in philippines. ugh pls help
edit:checked and not blacklisted by carrier
edit2: added some screenies

Well what I can say is since you didn't get it from Singtel on a subsidy contract, they wouldn't have Globe blacklist it (Singtel is a Globe shareholder).
The weird thing is, you're the second one I bumped on to that had this that had the "no service" problem on Globe. The other guy is from Batangas.
I've flashed a Sense 4.0 build myself (Virtuous S4X build 1 to be exact) but I was able to go back to Sense 3.6 without experiencing this kind of trouble.
Maybe you could call up customer service via the BB and ask them if Globe blacklisted it themselves? or better yet go to a Globe store

I applied the update late Friday night and have not been able to get a 4G signal since. I'm normally in a strong 4G area and had not had any problems like this in the past except for the nationwide outage of course.
I've tried battery pulls, toggling LTE off and on and even did a factory reset. I then talked to tech support and they did a few things on their end that were unsuccessful. They then told me to get a new SIM card but once again, no luck.
Tech support is at a loss to explain what is going on and has escalated it to the higher level of support. It can take up to a week for them to get to a ticket so I guess I'm SOL until they take a look at it.
Anybody else having 4G problems since the update?
I haven't applied the update but have been stuck in 1X all day as well. I also pulled the battery, switched back and forth on Rev A, and toggled LTE. Nothing. Was going to revert back to a saved ROM next. My wife's phone happily receives 3G.
Did the update Friday night and 4G is as strong as ever.

My 4g is also working. What is weird is when I loaded a ROM I lost all signal. I loaded another Rom and nothing. I had to load radio file in hboot and I was back in business.
yea in such circumstances I had reflashed the radio and it works just fine, give it a shot
Received a replacement today, popped in the SIM card and am back to 4G. No idea what happened but the update is definitely to blame.
Yeah I got mess up too with the new update. Had to get a new simcard today and it work ok.

glad you got it worked out. I would have reflashed just the radio to try and fix it.
Having this issue as well since yesterday (7/11). Loaded Th3ory 5.0 with the newest radio to two different Tbolts (mine and a coworkers) and we're both experiencing the same issue. Flashed different versions of the radio, including the newest one again and had 4G come back for a short period of time before all service was gone again. Not sure if its an issue with Th3ory rom itself and since I cant post in that thread until I make a few more spam posts about nothing to get my post count up, I figured I'd post it here.
in Mid-town NYC where 4g has never been an issue before.
I should add that I wasn't rooted.
What happens if you're Rooted and running a custom ROM and you do a SIM Card pull? I really want to try this method, but i'm scared this will force my phone to download the new OTA update and that i'll either brick my phone or run into some serious issues.
I have had trouble for the last two days getting 4G, never had a problem before.

don't think anyone else is having problems. Might be network issues in your area. Just flashed gingertheory 5.0 yesterday with the new stock 2.0 radio from the update and no problems.

You dont need to pull out the sim card, pulling the battery is good enough. All it does is update the PRL.

I just need to know which Radio, Baseband and RIL you guys are using? I've got Virtuous Inquisition and have used their recommended radio. I've made sure the appropriate RIL files are flashed and have probably tried about 15 radios... I'm really lost here and have been beating my brains over it for almost 24 hours now.
If someone could help me ASAP I would greatly appreciate it. I'm not a rich man (especially considering that this is a full out purchased device... wife BROKE her beautiful Atrix that I rooted and had CM7 on ) but I'll throw some cash down to buy you a beer lol
Thanks, guys! I'll keep searching in the meanwhile. Wife is in school and working so it's really tough not being able to stay in touch especially with the kids needing looking after. Cheers!
Do you have your service providers APN added to the phone?
I use Virtuous Inquisition and it automatically deleted all APN's I had for Fido so I had to readd the Fido APN for data and the Fido MMS APN.
I'm on virgin Canada, wich is Bell. I'm using the 3.3.0 firmware, and associated radio -11.69.3504.00U_11.22.3504.07_M. I've never had to flash a different ril. I'm going to try flashing this firmware and radio and I'll make sure it's got the corresponding RIL. May try another non-ICS ROM just to be on the safe side. Thanks, fellas.
My TMO One S wont disconnect from whatever wifi network it was connected to. I left my house and drove miles away and it shows still connected yet its obviously not and data doesn't work via the cell tower unless you turn off WiFi completely.
I have the same problem. I talked to tech support at t-mobile and they talked to HTC they had me switch out the phone. That didn't fix the problem. I can say when I wipe the phone the wifi seems to work, but after I install everything and wait a day it stops. I do like the phone and am thinking it is one of my app causing this problem. I bought a second one s for my yesterday I will see if her setup does this as well.

Same issue here. I have left the house and been 15 minutes down the road and my wifi still shows as being connected to my home network. It does not do this all the time, maybe half the time. I can get it to connect to the cell network by toggling airplane mode on and then off.
I have worked out using a wifi analyzer that the wifi seem to lock up when the signal drops off, If I toggle the wifi on and off everything comes back just fine. The phone starts to find wifi signals again. I guess I am going to start uninstalling apps one at a time to try to find out witch one it is but I have over 60 so this is going to take a lot of time. I hope my wife's new phone doesn't have the problem that would make things easier to track down.
I had this problem. Do a factory reset. That'll sort it.

It is a known bug.
Hopefully will be sorted out by the 1.78 firmware update or a later one.
How do you know this is a know bug. This is the first post that I have seen on it on the web not just this site, and t-mobile and HTC said they have not seen it before, I know that could and most likely is BS, but all the same where did you get your info.

I am seeing this problem more frequently now. At my office the H1S is on Wifi all day pretty much, then I drive home which is a few miles, and it stills shows connected. Which is annoying as this means the 3G connection is not enabled.
Same here... Also not always and also it didn't happen first day to have phone, but after some days of usage...
I still haven't received the OTA (mine is Orange Spain branded)... Let's hope this has been solved.
Thanks all for letting me not filing alone... XD

I have noticed the same thing. It's probably a firmware issue as so many people are having it.

Hi since I can't find a forum for the One XL I assume it's shared within this one.
I just got my One XL yesterday and it's been having what seems to be a SIM card problem. The phone will be normal sometimes but will lose all mobile connectivity suddenly. Is this a known problem? The connectivity comes back on its on but it could be after a few minutes or few hours. Apart from returning the phone, is there anything I can do? Note that WiFi works perfectly.
Yes sir that would be a common issue among the hox .

When you say "XL," so you mean an imported XL from Asia? Rogers? AT&T? The AT&T's the one having some radio issues. I don't think the Rogers' is. And if you imported yours there could be a number of reasons you're having connectivity issues.
@barryH_GEG: I live in Hong Kong and the One XL has the right bands for 4G and HSPA+.
@tyshemi: is there a software fix to this or is returning it the only option?

Gentlemen,
What the h.. is with this phone? I got it as well last Friday and I have exactly the same problem - it loses all mobile connectivity and only emergency calls can be done .. for which a SIM card won't be needed. It doesn't look like a software pronlem to me, it looks more like a hardware problem! I've seen this behavior immediately after I received the phone and I immediately went with the phone in a Vodafone shop. The guy did not look surprise at all. He took out the micro SIM for couple of times and after wards it worked OK. I went home and after couple oh hours it happened again!!!
@ HTC developers:
Gentlemen, are you joking with this device? What's going on in the testing team?
Indeed it is a LTE phone - and it is known already that there are lots of problems with the 4G software, but the SIM card not to be seen by the mobile? How could this be possible???
Please do something about this!
I will send back this device immediately!
Cheers
I myself have exchanged my HOX for this issue twice now. AT&T knows about this issue and refers to it as a manufacturing defect with the SIM card reader while not in a LTE area.

In Australia, we have this issue on our 32GB One XL. Apparently it's a particular version of micro SIM. One specific version has this issue, the other doest.
I've seen it happen a couple of times on mine since I got it. If it happens again, I'm going to put some very thing pieces of paper under the sim card to make it marginally thicker and press firmer against the contacts when it's inserted.

Hi guys,
Just to give you an update about my HTC ONE XL. Unfortunately, I have only bad news about it !
I went yesterday to Vodafone shop and they changed the micro SIM card. They gave me a different one - also a brand new one, and I have the same problem, the phone loses the connection with the SIM card. Since yesterday it happened already twice! I've seen some discussions here about the WiFi. Just to mention that in my case the Wifi can be used, only the network is gone and stays gone until I restart the phone.
HTC ONE X also loses the connection with the SIM?
My micro SIM card does not have a 4G subscription anyway..
Cheers
Try putting tape on the plastic side of the microSIM to see if maybe you can get a more solid connection?
My One XL would keep loosing reception and saying "no sim" even though it was clearly working. I deactivated my SIM pin and it seems to have stopped dropping out and saying "no sim" Give it a try.
I have One XL and I have no sim issues, it could be the piece that you use. As for the signal drop, it does happen to me sometime, and I think it tries to connect at LTE then goes back 3G. Try to force 3G only then try.
Setting on network menu could help too. Try *#*#4636#*#*

Been having the same issue and found it in the logs. Not sure if other people are seeing the same thing though. Post with info.
Hi guys,
I sent back the phone last week and yesterday I got a new one with a "newer" IMEI. Since yesterday, the phone did not lose the connection with the SIM card.
I was told that, indeed, some of the first HTC ONE XL modeles released on the market had the problem described by us on this forum/topic. The nature of the problem, hardware or software is not known to me so far but I believe it's a bit of both..
Cheers
This happened to me and updating radios to 1.88 or higher fixed it. did not work well with 1.85 radio. Radios dont come with custom roms. They have to be installed separately or with a ruu. There is a radio thread in development. You must be rooted. Ive only had 1 person tell me they still had problems after updating.. if it doesnt fix it, get another phone. Its a legit reason. Main reason for a phone is to make calls. kinda hard to do that with no mobile connection. :crying:
Edit: here is the radio thread. 1.88 or higher. 1.88 is my favorite. The telus seems to be great also. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1694012

and jsut in general the network fluctuates a lot on this phone.
I have a HTC Sensation 4g that i got and repaired and switched over to it from my inspire 4g. My inspire would hit 3g great where i am and beyond it at times. So i thought the Sensation 4g would be the same but so far all it will do is 2g for some reason. Have checked APN, making sure WCDMA preferred is set and nothing still 2g but can take my sim stick back in the inspire and bam 3g and more....Not really sure what is going on here...Have searched alot but have not found any real answers yet and hoping perhaps somebody here might know something...So far i have learned a great deal about the android system from here and hoping there is something that can be done. Really like the sensation so far except for the fact its only got a 2g connection...Thought it could be the sim card but then it would not work in my inspire then, so that is ruled out....also went as far as trying different roms thinking maybe different firmware maybe, but nope nothing so far at all. It is rooted and S-off if that matters. Currently has 3.32 firmware and unlocked. Currently running Revalation. If anymore information is needed let me know.....

Update to 3.33 universal. You can find that on the first post if the help thread. Point 13 I think.
Otherwise, do an Ruu. I would recommend the above, as at the very least, you get the latest radios.
VERIFY MD5 BEFORE FLASHING. Make sure you have 70% or more battery. A wrong flash of 3.33 will get you a hard brick, but don't worry as long as you take above precautions.
Happy to help.

How odd...Even ran the RUU and it succeeded. Rebooted put in the APN settings and nothing. Still at 2g network. This doesn't make any sense to me at all.

check the antenna which is responsible for network
lift them up gently if it is necessary
Alright will do that as soon as I get home from work and will post update. I just remembered something, this originally a T-Mobile phone but is unlocked to use on any network. Not sure if that is useful or not but more info the better to help resolve the problem
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda app-developers app

Got home a while ago and took it apart and checked all the connections and the antennas and everything seems ok...but still 2g...
Just out of curiosity...is there something perhaps in the buildprop possibly that I might be able to edit or something to make it see the 3g network... just thinking out loud... haven't touched anything in there yet.... just trying to figure something out.... really like this phone but not much use to me without data....

No, I dont have another carrier sim card...Have had net10 for several years and not anything different. Can put my sim card though in my inspire and 4g works fine so i am to believe it is not anything to do with the sim card itself. Have also put the same sim card in my ZTE 990 as well and 4g works too. I thought about buying a different plan on a different carrier to get a different sim but that could be in vain....

I have tried just about everything i can think of and for the life of me cannot figure out why this thing is stuck in 2g mode. I have ordered a new back panel for it and maybe that will help but im reluctant to think it will considering wifi and the 2g signal it does get is full bars.Unfortunately most of everyone i know is on the same service out here that i am so no way of trying a different carriers sim card.....Short of that being tried I can't think of anything to try....I am open for any ideas at this point.....

As a update...This is a T-Mobile Version of the Sensation therefore only uses 3g on a 1700 mhz band in which the cell company I am through does not broadcast on that band so this phone will never get 3g or anything else unless i change companies. Thank You Everyone for your help.

Unfortunately buying and activating a sim card from another network just to see if it was gonna work was something i did not have money for...I have spoke with HTC and confirmed what i wrote in the other post about this being a T-Mobile phone and specific to certain bands...and unless the network i use has that specific band it will never work for 3g. Unless there is a way to reprogram the radio frequencies it is a limitation all T-mobile sensations have sadly....but I have found another company that runs on the bands this phone needs to run so will be switching to the new company next month.
