Need help from Bell Sensation user!! - HTC Sensation

Hey guys!
I S-OFFed a new Sensation and got to flashing ROMs after a lot of difficulty. Cleared the SIM Lock and then noticed that I can't get anything outside of GSM. No Edge or 3G.
I just need to know which Radio, Baseband and RIL you guys are using? I've got Virtuous Inquisition and have used their recommended radio. I've made sure the appropriate RIL files are flashed and have probably tried about 15 radios... I'm really lost here and have been beating my brains over it for almost 24 hours now.
If someone could help me ASAP I would greatly appreciate it. I'm not a rich man (especially considering that this is a full out purchased device... wife BROKE her beautiful Atrix that I rooted and had CM7 on ) but I'll throw some cash down to buy you a beer lol
Thanks, guys! I'll keep searching in the meanwhile. Wife is in school and working so it's really tough not being able to stay in touch especially with the kids needing looking after. Cheers!

Do you have your service providers APN added to the phone?
I use Virtuous Inquisition and it automatically deleted all APN's I had for Fido so I had to readd the Fido APN for data and the Fido MMS APN.

I'm on virgin Canada, wich is Bell. I'm using the 3.3.0 firmware, and associated radio -11.69.3504.00U_11.22.3504.07_M. I've never had to flash a different ril. Are you sure you have the proper son as above poster asked? Strange problem I've flashed every radio and Rom out there and never had a problem. If you need apn settings let me know and ill post for you.

Thanks, man. Definitely have the right APN settings. Tried with my SIM card as well and even went as far as trying to switch bands and tons of other things.
I'm going to try flashing this firmware and radio and I'll make sure it's got the corresponding RIL. May try another non-ICS ROM just to be on the safe side. Thanks, fellas.

[Q] Unlocked Sensation wasnt too Sensational

Im fairly new to the phone game but i know a little bit. I traded my inspire to a Sensation, unlocked it myself. Everything worked finr except my Data i couldnt use the internet in any way. I called 611 (atts customer serv) and they said the connection was rejected. Luckily i was able to convince the guy i got it from to trade me back and give me the extra money i gave him for the trade. Was i just being a dumbass not knowing what to do or is this an issue. On the phone i went into the carrier and APN and it all seemed fine... Just curious because i would still like that phone but of course want my data connection Thanks
Also someone told me that unlocking/flashing phones will drop them down 2 data speeds (4G-2G/EDGE) Is this true?

Stop listening to ignorant people.
As for the problem you encountered, I believe you got the wrong Sensation. You need the Z710a for AT&T.
lianw is correct. Many of us are happily using the z710a on at&t.
Same guy as Smolt here for some reason it wouldnt let me log back in and after an hour of screwing with it and password retievals..... Well here i am... How do you tell the difference between the 2 Sensations? Did you have to call611 and give them the imei # to use data?
Ive got a post under my newly given moniker, if you find the time check it out. Any help is greatly appreciated and always thanked
So you traded the Sensation back to your original phone, so you no longer have a Sensation, and you still want to know why you were having problems?
People don't waste your time trying to figure out his issue, he doesn't have the phone anymore to try and fix it.

Because not only are people wasting their time on answering your question, but you are also cluttering the forum...who knows, you may never get a sensation again or have the issue if you get the correct sensation and this thread them becomes trash.
unless the sensation supports the at&t 4g or 3g bands, you're limited to edge. that's what happened to me when i was using the inspire on t-mobile.
I think only bell or Virgin(from Canada) Sensation have 850 frequency, it is working fine on Rogers with 3g or HSPA after unlock(which i think it should work on at&t as they are using the same band). I hope this could help u a bit. T-mobile sensation doesn't work on at&t because it doesn't support 850.
I'm using the bell sensation z710a and get ATT 3g speeds with no issues.

[Q] suddenly unable to connect to my provider

Hi guys,
I have problem right now. Im in Philippines and was using a globe telecom sim. its a prepaid sim though.
everything was okay. I woke up this morning with everything working including data coverage etc2.
then later decided to flash a Sense 4 ROM, wiped everything except for the sd then flashed the sense 4 rom.went ok
then to my surprise Ive got no signal, after the setup screen i went to check and see if it connects to my carrier, it sees the three available carriers in my country but wont connect. tried manually search and auto buth with no dice.
then I decided to reflash with full wipe again but still no joy, inserted a Sun Cellular prepaid sim and its okay, switched off the phone and re inserted my globe sim, and there it is again no signal.
then later went and decided to go back to elegancia. thought everything will be okay but still the same.
tried putting my globe to my other phone and seems ok, calls, txt and data works.
tried another globe sim and still wont work
my phone came from singapore. it is factory unlocked sim free.
I wonder what's the culprit?
tried reading some threads related but with no joy
any help would be greatfully appreciated
Ive got the latest bootloader
S-off
Latest radio
latest base
elegancia 3.3.5
in short my problem is Im with two carriers.
globe and sun.
globe was and always has been on my sensation, sun is my secondary sim was using it on my bold
now globe suddenly wont work but other carriers are. I have another globe sim on my mt4g. tried it on my sensation and wont work, tried the sim from sensation and works on mt4g and bb. weird.
my phone isn't blacklisted. I think? how can it be blacklisted if I bought it in singapore and uaing it in philippines. ugh pls help
edit:checked and not blacklisted by carrier
edit2: added some screenies

Well what I can say is since you didn't get it from Singtel on a subsidy contract, they wouldn't have Globe blacklist it (Singtel is a Globe shareholder).
The weird thing is, you're the second one I bumped on to that had this that had the "no service" problem on Globe. The other guy is from Batangas.
I've flashed a Sense 4.0 build myself (Virtuous S4X build 1 to be exact) but I was able to go back to Sense 3.6 without experiencing this kind of trouble.
Maybe you could call up customer service via the BB and ask them if Globe blacklisted it themselves? or better yet go to a Globe store

[Q] Cannot Connect to Rogers Operator, Connecting to Telus Instead?

Hello everyone. This is my first post on XDA. I've been an avid follower for a couple of months now, but I've reached a problem in my hacking spree which cannot be resolved by a simple search.
First thing's first... I'm running AOKP 6, and using the HTC TELUS 1.91 (0.18a.32.09.01_2_10.94.32.20L) radio. I know this sounds silly, but is it OK for me to be connecting to the Telus Operator, rather than Rogers? I have the correct Rogers APN entered, and can use data just fine.
When I enter the Network Operators Menu in the settings, I get a list of three different operators: Rogers, Telus, and Bell. When I tap Rogers, it will authenticate for around 2 minutes and then say it's not available. The same case goes for the other two. But when I enter a dead zone (typically in the university) it says something along the lines of "Cannot connect to network (Telus)"
I suppose another question I have is, is the current radio that I'm using sufficient or is there one which is more beneficial? If it helps anyone, I'm living in the west coast of British Columbia, Canada.
Thank you very much for reading my poorly explained thread. I hope somebody can help me fix this issue I'm having.
I have no idea why you suddenly have no connection to Rogers. It may be an issue with the Telus modem. Have you tried flashing a different one to test? I am on Rogers in Vancity also and i just flashed the 1.88 modem from Asia. It seems to be working fine for me. Perhaps give that one a try.
Before this radio I was using the Rogers one provided in that thread. I was also connected to Telus towers with that one. I will give the Asia radio a try.
Here is a silly question. Is it a Rogers HOX or an AT&T version?
Beamed from my KingCobra1X powered HOXL
Heh, well. I bought it brand new at Rogers Plus. I'd like to assume it's a Rogers phone.

Lol just checking. I just flashed back to the Rogers radio, the 1.88 radio is crap. My LTE speeds and signal strength took a dump.
Oddly though, this version of the 1.73 Rogers radio fixed my wireless issues.
---------- Post added at 05:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:25 PM ----------
As for your issue, have you verified that the Rogers LTE apn didnt get screwed up by AOKP?
Really, I'm not sure. I'm using the official Rogers APN with all the right settings. When I get home I'll attempt to flash another radio and report back. By the way, I really appreciate your help. Thank you!

I don't get it. Does it automatically connect to Telus, or just NOT connect to Rogers? Have you tried another ROM?
I would do a nandroid backup of your current setup and maybe try a different rom. Won't hurt, you can always restore.
Beamed from my KingCobra1X powered HOXL
I honestly wish I were better at explaining this. If I try to manually register to the Rogers operator, or any operator for instance, it will say it's unavailable. Although I do notice that it says it's connected to Telus when I lose connection in a dead zone. It shows "(Telus)" beside a lost signal message.
I would try replacing your sim card. The LTE sim cards can be flakey. Its an easy way to eliminate that possibility. Hell, it may fix it. Other than that you could try playing stupid and calling Rogers. Just don't mention the fact that you have flashed another rom or unlocked your boot loader....
Beamed from my KingCobra1X powered HOXL
Try flashing the king cobra rom I believe it is based for rogers and comes with the HTC Asia radio 1.88. Give that a shot. Not really too sure just trying to help.
Yea. King Cobra is working great for me. I was looking through the AOKP thread and there are a few people reporting data issues. I would swap roms as I suggested a few posts back.
Beamed from my KingCobra1X powered HOXL
I'm not sure exactly what I did, but I fixed it! I flashed the stock Rogers radio back in my phone, and I'm using a different RIL now. But I'm getting amazing download speeds and connecting to the Rogers Operator. My mind is blown.
I really appreciate your efforts to help me. Thanks.
Awesome! At this point it doesn't matter WHAT fixed it, only that its fixed!
I just flashed the 1.89 Telstra radio with ril and my LTE speeds went up.

Please Help with Telus LTE and this phone

Please If anyone could direct me to the answer I'd be eternal grateful. here is my issue and I'm not the only one with it there are a few of us.
Bought a Rogers HTC ONE X on launch day Unlocked it and hooked it up to the Telus network. right from the begining the phone would not connect to the Telus LTE network for what ever reason I doen know it should be compatible.
I've bounced around from every rom in this forum some would let me phone connect to LTE but only 10mbps download until I cam across KingCobra 1.2 based on Asia 1.88 (other roms at the same time were based from this same build) with this rom and the included V6 supercharger in the aroma installer my LTE came to life and my download speeds were 25-55mbps depending on the area I was in.
Here is my Question what is it about that rom that got my phone to connect to the Telus LTE network with thoes speeds??????????
Here is some of the stuff I've tried
V6 Supercharger - I've installed it with other roms of the same and different bases but still no luck.
Radios - I've flashed every radio and radio + Ril but still no luck getting it to work
Roms - tried every rom in here with different combinations and still no luck
Could there be something special about the telus rom files for it to conect to there LTE network? Does anyone have a Telus RUU I can try flashing to my phone to see if that helps?
I'm at my wits end with this problem and its driving me to the point where I'm thinking about selling my One X and getting the SIII and I hate samsung phones lol
You probably just need to enter the Telus APN. Turge lives in Canada so his ROMs might already include the Telus APN. This would explain why the KingCobra1X ROM would work but others won't. A quick google search should give you the APN settings.

Have you contacted TELUS technical support to ensure your account is LTE provisioned?
To provision, you require a V3 SIM Card, an LTE compatible plan (they should all be), and an LTE compatible phone.
There are a "rare few" that don't get provisioned automatically, DNA support can assist with this.
Have you tested your LTE SIM in another LTE phone? This would show if it is account related, network related, or possibly your hardware related.
As WorldIRC said you need to tell Telus you need LTE enabled on your account.
That being said I haven't done that with Rogers yet either but I've realized HSPA+ has been perfectly fine for me especially since I only have 500mb data plan.
Yes I have a v3 sim from Telus and my account is LTE enabled. I have contacted customer support and they tell me everything is fine at there end. Like I said it works perfectly on the KingCobra 1.2 rom. That tells me that it's not my network/plan or my hardware
I'm not the only one with this issue I know of at least 3 people with the same setup (unlocked Rogers phone on Telus network) Turge (dev behind the KingCobra rom) being one of them.
Even Turge can't figure it out that I know of. When he changed the base of his rom to 2.23 it broke the LTE for us if we did a full wipe but everyone else is ok.
It's really puzzling and I've spent all day messing with the Build.Prop in clean rom using settings from the V6 supercharger, from the king cobra rom what ever I could think of. Best I could come up with was
Phone connected to LTE but download was 10mbps and upload was 25mbps this is the best I can get on any rom other than KingCobra

You can +1 with another Unlocked Rogers HOX on Telus with the same problem. I always thought it might have been a Toronto thing, but now hearing you comment about this there must be something Telus does...perhaps to force you to buy their phones.
I don't think I'm going to give up on the HOX, I love this machine to death. Secretly I'm hoping someone will leak the stock Telus ROM so I can flash out of the stock Rogers ROM. I've recently updated to the latest Rogers Stock, and still same problem. LTE dl speeds capped around 10...
Lemmee know if you find a better solution than using KingCobra, I'm dying to see what true LTE feels like =P

I'm using a Telus One X....I haven't rooted / custom ROM'ed it yet...but contemplating doing so for LTE test purposes.
Right now, bone stock, I hit a max of 47mbit down today at Vaughan Mills; with an average of 20-25 mbit today.
OP have you tried the latest KingCobra rom released today?

I was never personally a fan of LTE even after I got my HOX, so losing it really didn't kill me. I am on the Telus network with a Telus HOX. I will revert back to my stock setup and see if I can pull anything out of it that is different from my current setup (CleanROM 4.5). IMO, 10mbps is plenty fast enough in everyday use, blows all my iJunk buddies out of the water anyways =p. Will report back.

Sensation 4g stuck in 2g

I have a HTC Sensation 4g that i got and repaired and switched over to it from my inspire 4g. My inspire would hit 3g great where i am and beyond it at times. So i thought the Sensation 4g would be the same but so far all it will do is 2g for some reason. Have checked APN, making sure WCDMA preferred is set and nothing still 2g but can take my sim stick back in the inspire and bam 3g and more....Not really sure what is going on here...Have searched alot but have not found any real answers yet and hoping perhaps somebody here might know something...So far i have learned a great deal about the android system from here and hoping there is something that can be done. Really like the sensation so far except for the fact its only got a 2g connection...Thought it could be the sim card but then it would not work in my inspire then, so that is ruled out....also went as far as trying different roms thinking maybe different firmware maybe, but nope nothing so far at all. It is rooted and S-off if that matters. Currently has 3.32 firmware and unlocked. Currently running Revalation. If anymore information is needed let me know.....

Update to 3.33 universal. You can find that on the first post if the help thread. Point 13 I think.
Otherwise, do an Ruu. I would recommend the above, as at the very least, you get the latest radios.
VERIFY MD5 BEFORE FLASHING. Make sure you have 70% or more battery. A wrong flash of 3.33 will get you a hard brick, but don't worry as long as you take above precautions.
Happy to help.

How odd...Even ran the RUU and it succeeded. Rebooted put in the APN settings and nothing. Still at 2g network. This doesn't make any sense to me at all.

check the antenna which is responsible for network
lift them up gently if it is necessary
Alright will do that as soon as I get home from work and will post update. I just remembered something, this originally a T-Mobile phone but is unlocked to use on any network. Not sure if that is useful or not but more info the better to help resolve the problem
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda app-developers app

Got home a while ago and took it apart and checked all the connections and the antennas and everything seems ok...but still 2g...
Just out of curiosity...is there something perhaps in the buildprop possibly that I might be able to edit or something to make it see the 3g network... just thinking out loud... haven't touched anything in there yet.... just trying to figure something out.... really like this phone but not much use to me without data....

No, I dont have another carrier sim card...Have had net10 for several years and not anything different. Can put my sim card though in my inspire and 4g works fine so i am to believe it is not anything to do with the sim card itself. Have also put the same sim card in my ZTE 990 as well and 4g works too. I thought about buying a different plan on a different carrier to get a different sim but that could be in vain....

I have tried just about everything i can think of and for the life of me cannot figure out why this thing is stuck in 2g mode. I have ordered a new back panel for it and maybe that will help but im reluctant to think it will considering wifi and the 2g signal it does get is full bars.Unfortunately most of everyone i know is on the same service out here that i am so no way of trying a different carriers sim card.....Short of that being tried I can't think of anything to try....I am open for any ideas at this point.....

As a update...This is a T-Mobile Version of the Sensation therefore only uses 3g on a 1700 mhz band in which the cell company I am through does not broadcast on that band so this phone will never get 3g or anything else unless i change companies. Thank You Everyone for your help.

Unfortunately buying and activating a sim card from another network just to see if it was gonna work was something i did not have money for...I have spoke with HTC and confirmed what i wrote in the other post about this being a T-Mobile phone and specific to certain bands...and unless the network i use has that specific band it will never work for 3g. Unless there is a way to reprogram the radio frequencies it is a limitation all T-mobile sensations have sadly....but I have found another company that runs on the bands this phone needs to run so will be switching to the new company next month.
