Please Help with Telus LTE and this phone - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Please If anyone could direct me to the answer I'd be eternal grateful. here is my issue and I'm not the only one with it there are a few of us.
Bought a Rogers HTC ONE X on launch day Unlocked it and hooked it up to the Telus network. right from the begining the phone would not connect to the Telus LTE network for what ever reason I doen know it should be compatible.
I've bounced around from every rom in this forum some would let me phone connect to LTE but only 10mbps download until I cam across KingCobra 1.2 based on Asia 1.88 (other roms at the same time were based from this same build) with this rom and the included V6 supercharger in the aroma installer my LTE came to life and my download speeds were 25-55mbps depending on the area I was in.
Here is my Question what is it about that rom that got my phone to connect to the Telus LTE network with thoes speeds??????????
Here is some of the stuff I've tried
V6 Supercharger - I've installed it with other roms of the same and different bases but still no luck.
Radios - I've flashed every radio and radio + Ril but still no luck getting it to work
Roms - tried every rom in here with different combinations and still no luck
Could there be something special about the telus rom files for it to conect to there LTE network? Does anyone have a Telus RUU I can try flashing to my phone to see if that helps?
I'm at my wits end with this problem and its driving me to the point where I'm thinking about selling my One X and getting the SIII and I hate samsung phones lol

You probably just need to enter the Telus APN. Turge lives in Canada so his ROMs might already include the Telus APN. This would explain why the KingCobra1X ROM would work but others won't. A quick google search should give you the APN settings.

Here, just enter this in your APN settings. Settings>Mobile network>APN>New Apn
Name: Telus SP
APN: sp.telus.com
Done!

Thanks guys but I should have said in the OP that this is one of the things I first tried. My APN is the exact same for other roms as the KingCobra rom.

Have you contacted TELUS technical support to ensure your account is LTE provisioned?
To provision, you require a V3 SIM Card, an LTE compatible plan (they should all be), and an LTE compatible phone.
There are a "rare few" that don't get provisioned automatically, DNA support can assist with this.
Have you tested your LTE SIM in another LTE phone? This would show if it is account related, network related, or possibly your hardware related.

As WorldIRC said you need to tell Telus you need LTE enabled on your account.
That being said I haven't done that with Rogers yet either but I've realized HSPA+ has been perfectly fine for me especially since I only have 500mb data plan.

Yes I have a v3 sim from Telus and my account is LTE enabled. I have contacted customer support and they tell me everything is fine at there end. Like I said it works perfectly on the KingCobra 1.2 rom. That tells me that it's not my network/plan or my hardware
I'm not the only one with this issue I know of at least 3 people with the same setup (unlocked Rogers phone on Telus network) Turge (dev behind the KingCobra rom) being one of them.
Even Turge can't figure it out that I know of. When he changed the base of his rom to 2.23 it broke the LTE for us if we did a full wipe but everyone else is ok.
It's really puzzling and I've spent all day messing with the Build.Prop in clean rom using settings from the V6 supercharger, from the king cobra rom what ever I could think of. Best I could come up with was
Phone connected to LTE but download was 10mbps and upload was 25mbps this is the best I can get on any rom other than KingCobra

Still running the TELUS radio file?

Yes I'm running the Telus radio found that it gave me the best results I haven't tried the new 2.20 radio yet but I imagine it won't make much difference as I've tried every other one

Anyone else got any ideas about this problem? Do you think it has something to do with the sim unlock? Could that have effected it?

Think I'm going to put my phone up for sale and get a different phone.

Yeah I give up I went back to KingCobra1X 1.2 cause that's the only rom where my LTE works properly.

You can +1 with another Unlocked Rogers HOX on Telus with the same problem. I always thought it might have been a Toronto thing, but now hearing you comment about this there must be something Telus does...perhaps to force you to buy their phones.
I don't think I'm going to give up on the HOX, I love this machine to death. Secretly I'm hoping someone will leak the stock Telus ROM so I can flash out of the stock Rogers ROM. I've recently updated to the latest Rogers Stock, and still same problem. LTE dl speeds capped around 10...
Lemmee know if you find a better solution than using KingCobra, I'm dying to see what true LTE feels like =P
Cheers!!!

I'm using a Telus One X....I haven't rooted / custom ROM'ed it yet...but contemplating doing so for LTE test purposes.
Right now, bone stock, I hit a max of 47mbit down today at Vaughan Mills; with an average of 20-25 mbit today.
OP have you tried the latest KingCobra rom released today?

I was never personally a fan of LTE even after I got my HOX, so losing it really didn't kill me. I am on the Telus network with a Telus HOX. I will revert back to my stock setup and see if I can pull anything out of it that is different from my current setup (CleanROM 4.5). IMO, 10mbps is plenty fast enough in everyday use, blows all my iJunk buddies out of the water anyways =p. Will report back.

What rom and kernel combo are you using

With all the development and new roms which combo are you using? I'm currently on nexus mod 4 stock UCLA 3 2.3.6 kernel getting outstanding battery life.
On NexusMOD 4 and was on romracers stockish0.3

I have that ROM, it's not missing it.
And every single rom for Skyrocket has LTE Support, actually the phone hardware is always there, that I know for sure.
some ROM's don;t even have an option to choose and still applying apn works perfect. On AT&T ROM the icon will say 4G and small LTE under it, on Rogers it will say LTE.
If 4G is working there is no way you can be missing LTE as LTE is 4G just faster.

AT&T uses regular LTE which is just 4G updated it's called 4G-LTE, Canadian network is way more advanced.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4G
coming back to my original point, if your phone shows 4G sign and you don;t get LTE, two reason's 1) you are not in the range for LTE 2) your apk is wrong. This is tested and retested, just change the apn and get in the LTE range and see the magic.

well there u go, becuz I'm on rogers in Canada and LTE is LTE, 4 g is slower. Yes, the LTE radio remains active but the rom is incompatible with the frequencies of Rogers LTE = no LTE. That being said a RAT unlocked radio like kj7 may work, but 1) i highly doubt it, and 2) I never got around to testing this as the UCLA3 modem and kernels combo work great for me

Rogers ROM on AT&T HTC One XL

Was wondering if we can put Rogers ROM on AT&T for 2 reasons.
Turn off LTE and tethering.
Can anyone with Rogers confirm they have tethering ability. Also do you have to pay extra for tethering with Rogers.
I bet AT&T will block those.

Confirmed! We have tethering enabled(free) as well as the option to turn off LTE.
As for loading the Rogers rom onto the AT&T handset, I don't see why not other than maybe some differences in what 3G/4G LTE Bands are made available. Rogers and AT&T are very close in offerings though. Don't know if there's any relation nowadays, but they used to be partners a good 10 years ago here in Canada. I think Rogers bought them out of their wireless venture. Fun fact of the day. Minus the fun
Anyone has an unlocked rogers htc one xl phone that also has an att sim card can do a test if att sim card will get lte speed with rogers rom?
The Radio firmware is a separate image from the system rom. Once we have a Rogers RUU, you should be able to flash the boot.img and system.img from that without worrying about altering the way your radio connects to the AT&T network.
So what would be a better choice? Att handset with rogers rom or rogers handset stock rom. I just want to be able to tether sometimes without att giving me trouble and turn att off. Since i will be getting out of contract... Price for the handset should be the same.
The only difference between the AT&T model and Rogers model is the ROM, so it really wouldn't make a difference. Go with whichever option is easier for you.
(I accidentally thanked your post. Enjoy it lol)

ummm it doesnt matter which ROM your on... ur still going to get charged for tethering. ATT looks and sees whats connected to their netwok (ie a PC) and will see you're tethering. As far as 3g/4g toggles, wait like 2 weeks for some custom ROMS.
Can AT&T peek into a custom ROM like say CM9?

The thing about the bloatware is it can be disabled in settings-apps under "all" tab which is nice if you don't want them loading and updating all of the time, but they still take up space.
For those that don't know, I didn't when I first found this out, you have to first uninstall any updates an app may have before the option to disable it shows up.

If you don't go crazy with tethering then they won't bang you for it. Yes, I briefly used the rogers rom and it unlocked tethering as well as gave the option to turn off lte, however I have gone back to the updated att rom 1.82 and hacked the stock tethering app to work just fine. This rom is ultra smooth compared to the Asian or Rogers rom.

[Q] Cannot Connect to Rogers Operator, Connecting to Telus Instead?

Hello everyone. This is my first post on XDA. I've been an avid follower for a couple of months now, but I've reached a problem in my hacking spree which cannot be resolved by a simple search.
First thing's first... I'm running AOKP 6, and using the HTC TELUS 1.91 (0.18a.32.09.01_2_10.94.32.20L) radio. I know this sounds silly, but is it OK for me to be connecting to the Telus Operator, rather than Rogers? I have the correct Rogers APN entered, and can use data just fine.
When I enter the Network Operators Menu in the settings, I get a list of three different operators: Rogers, Telus, and Bell. When I tap Rogers, it will authenticate for around 2 minutes and then say it's not available. The same case goes for the other two. But when I enter a dead zone (typically in the university) it says something along the lines of "Cannot connect to network (Telus)"
I suppose another question I have is, is the current radio that I'm using sufficient or is there one which is more beneficial? If it helps anyone, I'm living in the west coast of British Columbia, Canada.
Thank you very much for reading my poorly explained thread. I hope somebody can help me fix this issue I'm having.
I have no idea why you suddenly have no connection to Rogers. It may be an issue with the Telus modem. Have you tried flashing a different one to test? I am on Rogers in Vancity also and i just flashed the 1.88 modem from Asia. It seems to be working fine for me. Perhaps give that one a try.
Before this radio I was using the Rogers one provided in that thread. I was also connected to Telus towers with that one. I will give the Asia radio a try.
Here is a silly question. Is it a Rogers HOX or an AT&T version?
Beamed from my KingCobra1X powered HOXL
Heh, well. I bought it brand new at Rogers Plus. I'd like to assume it's a Rogers phone.

Lol just checking. I just flashed back to the Rogers radio, the 1.88 radio is crap. My LTE speeds and signal strength took a dump.
Oddly though, this version of the 1.73 Rogers radio fixed my wireless issues.
---------- Post added at 05:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:25 PM ----------
As for your issue, have you verified that the Rogers LTE apn didnt get screwed up by AOKP?
Really, I'm not sure. I'm using the official Rogers APN with all the right settings. When I get home I'll attempt to flash another radio and report back. By the way, I really appreciate your help. Thank you!

I don't get it. Does it automatically connect to Telus, or just NOT connect to Rogers? Have you tried another ROM?
I would do a nandroid backup of your current setup and maybe try a different rom. Won't hurt, you can always restore.
Beamed from my KingCobra1X powered HOXL
I honestly wish I were better at explaining this. If I try to manually register to the Rogers operator, or any operator for instance, it will say it's unavailable. Although I do notice that it says it's connected to Telus when I lose connection in a dead zone. It shows "(Telus)" beside a lost signal message.
I would try replacing your sim card. The LTE sim cards can be flakey. Its an easy way to eliminate that possibility. Hell, it may fix it. Other than that you could try playing stupid and calling Rogers. Just don't mention the fact that you have flashed another rom or unlocked your boot loader....
Beamed from my KingCobra1X powered HOXL
Try flashing the king cobra rom I believe it is based for rogers and comes with the HTC Asia radio 1.88. Give that a shot. Not really too sure just trying to help.
Yea. King Cobra is working great for me. I was looking through the AOKP thread and there are a few people reporting data issues. I would swap roms as I suggested a few posts back.
Beamed from my KingCobra1X powered HOXL
I'm not sure exactly what I did, but I fixed it! I flashed the stock Rogers radio back in my phone, and I'm using a different RIL now. But I'm getting amazing download speeds and connecting to the Rogers Operator. My mind is blown.
I really appreciate your efforts to help me. Thanks.
Awesome! At this point it doesn't matter WHAT fixed it, only that its fixed!
I just flashed the 1.89 Telstra radio with ril and my LTE speeds went up.

[Q] only getting edge data

i thot id go ahead and start a thread for this,to get a lil more exposure than the other thread ive posted in.
ive been using an att one x on t mobile, waiting for the refarm to make here
a couple days ago,i popped my t mobile sim back into my international one x,and its getting 3g/H data just fine. apparently the refarm has made it to dayton,oh,finally
however,my HOXL refuses to connect to anything other than edge... if i remove the sim card,4g pops up for a brief second when i power the phone on. ive tried it on stock 3.17.707.1 and stock ATT 3.18.502.6. ive tried a couple different APN settings...
ive also now tried viper 3.2.7,and tried 2 different t mobile one s radios( ) against my better judgement also tried changing the CID. still no go.
my international one x,att inspire, and att jetstream continue to recieve H data no prollems,on wich the HOX got a best speedtest of the following on a dozen or so tests,so im definately in a refarm area:
i dont think the imei has been black listed,i get no error messages, and the sim continues to function just fine in other devices.
any ideas? i actually prefer the HOXL over the HOX since its s off. id love to HSPA+ working.
Could be a hardware issue. Do you have a friend who has AT&T that can test it out? If they get edge speeds, then it is definitely the phone. If not, you may need to keep trying different APN settings.

[Q] Unlocked At&t htc one mini used on tmobile cant send/receive pics

Help! I am using an unlocked at&t htc one mini with a tmobile mini SIM. I configured the apn settings but I still can't send or receive pictures. Can someone please help?!
Anyone help me with this?!?!
Make sure you got the most current apn. I know here in the U.K there are 3 different t-mobile APNs that I know of.
Also the AT&T software might cause problems. It did for me when I flashed a AT&T based rom with my tethering.
You might want to think about using another rom.

Thx for the reply. I am definately no expert, anything you can refer me to on going about using another Rom?
what are your APN settings? I've done this with an AT&T phone on T-Mobile in the U.S. and had no issues after setting the APN.
Same exact issue and I for one know I've never had any issue ever sending mms on att device on tmobile network ...
None of us are apn dummies lol...
THIS MINI ON 4.4.2 JUST DOES NOT SEND OR RECIEVE MMS
We need help guys
This has to be a issue known to some and I'd bet there's a Fix floating around .
Think about it if you set your apn on any unlocked phone once you get your Data icon ... we have always gotten mms to work there after .
Any help guys ?

I'll upload screen shots of my APN setup when I get home from work. I have 4.4.2 on T-Mobile and my MMS works just fine.
