Sprint Nexus S 4g on Boost Mobile - Questions

I flashed my NS4G to Boost... it was a long and agonizing road, but I think i finally got it working correctly.
my phone is currently 100% stock with gingerbread 2.3.7
since this was such a stressful flash, i'm kind of worried about "not fixing what's not broken"...
however, i'd love to re-root it and flash a custom ROM. Will doing this mess up any of the modifications i had to do to get calls, text, and data to work?
(they were all done in QPST)
I'm not going to do it until i have confirmation... so let me know and ease my mind!

i also have a nexus 4g on boost. i've just about had every kernal and rom on this board for it (both gingerbread and ICS)

so a standard rom flash will retain all boost settings?

yes.
keep in mind mms fix only works on gingerbread as far as i know.
the APN can't be changed on ICS roms.

If you use voice dialer and say "open APNs", it will let you edit the apn. Does this not work to get mms working?

I made this change and the mms successfully sent. I'll ask my brother if he got it later and update you

hey i have flashed lots of phone from eve's to epic touch, but for some reason i am unable to get the 3g to work on the nexus. I used an incognito as donor phone retrieve all the required info. By any chance can you tell me how you got your 3g to work?

i cant get that to work. as soon as i enter my password i loose my 3g icon?

Please Help, I have been all over Google and multiple forums and cant find out how to flash my phone to boost. I have a NS4G I got for my birthday this pass Dec and had sprint service on it but now want to flash it to boost mobile. I was able to root it, but that is all. any info would greatly be appreciated!

what you are talking about can not be talked about as it is illegal to change the esn and meid all all other device identifiers that are registered to the fcc. Each phone has a unique id to it that is represented to the fcc. I have also been talking with Boost employess and area managers and boost is getting ready to kick off the users who have "flashed" phones on Boost that do not belong on boost. This is going to be done as Boost can still tell what type of phone you have other then the esn / meid as the device still sends out certain other device ids to the network when you use certain programs. Also by trying to send updates to your phone sprint can request the system information from your phone that can tell them the actual make and model and firmware and all that you are running. And you thought carrier iq was bad...
if you wait a few months or so the evo 3d will be on sprints virgin mobile with ics included and sense 3.6...
Boost mobile will be getting the HTC Evo design 4g soon as well...
i myself dont understand why boost is going 4g when sprint is going lte... but another stupid move by sprint.

does anyone have a link to a how to flash my nexus s 4g to boost? I'd really like to do this. cant afford sprint anymore...

Please Help with Telus LTE and this phone

Please If anyone could direct me to the answer I'd be eternal grateful. here is my issue and I'm not the only one with it there are a few of us.
Bought a Rogers HTC ONE X on launch day Unlocked it and hooked it up to the Telus network. right from the begining the phone would not connect to the Telus LTE network for what ever reason I doen know it should be compatible.
I've bounced around from every rom in this forum some would let me phone connect to LTE but only 10mbps download until I cam across KingCobra 1.2 based on Asia 1.88 (other roms at the same time were based from this same build) with this rom and the included V6 supercharger in the aroma installer my LTE came to life and my download speeds were 25-55mbps depending on the area I was in.
Here is my Question what is it about that rom that got my phone to connect to the Telus LTE network with thoes speeds??????????
Here is some of the stuff I've tried
V6 Supercharger - I've installed it with other roms of the same and different bases but still no luck.
Radios - I've flashed every radio and radio + Ril but still no luck getting it to work
Roms - tried every rom in here with different combinations and still no luck
Could there be something special about the telus rom files for it to conect to there LTE network? Does anyone have a Telus RUU I can try flashing to my phone to see if that helps?
I'm at my wits end with this problem and its driving me to the point where I'm thinking about selling my One X and getting the SIII and I hate samsung phones lol

You probably just need to enter the Telus APN. Turge lives in Canada so his ROMs might already include the Telus APN. This would explain why the KingCobra1X ROM would work but others won't. A quick google search should give you the APN settings.

Thanks guys but I should have said in the OP that this is one of the things I first tried. My APN is the exact same for other roms as the KingCobra rom.

Have you contacted TELUS technical support to ensure your account is LTE provisioned?
To provision, you require a V3 SIM Card, an LTE compatible plan (they should all be), and an LTE compatible phone.
There are a "rare few" that don't get provisioned automatically, DNA support can assist with this.
Have you tested your LTE SIM in another LTE phone? This would show if it is account related, network related, or possibly your hardware related.

As WorldIRC said you need to tell Telus you need LTE enabled on your account.
That being said I haven't done that with Rogers yet either but I've realized HSPA+ has been perfectly fine for me especially since I only have 500mb data plan.

Even Turge can't figure it out that I know of. When he changed the base of his rom to 2.23 it broke the LTE for us if we did a full wipe but everyone else is ok.
It's really puzzling and I've spent all day messing with the Build.Prop in clean rom using settings from the V6 supercharger, from the king cobra rom what ever I could think of. Best I could come up with was
Phone connected to LTE but download was 10mbps and upload was 25mbps this is the best I can get on any rom other than KingCobra

Still running the TELUS radio file?

Yes I'm running the Telus radio found that it gave me the best results I haven't tried the new 2.20 radio yet but I imagine it won't make much difference as I've tried every other one

Tried that one still no luck I'm really starting to get frustrated with this I really like to flash new things to my phone but I also like all my features to work and this is bugging the %@$#& out of me.
Think I'm going to put my phone up for sale and get a different phone.

Your unlock won't cause any problem.

Yeah I give up I went back to KingCobra1X 1.2 cause that's the only rom where my LTE works properly.
Going to check out my options might sell this phone and get the galaxy S III

You can +1 with another Unlocked Rogers HOX on Telus with the same problem. I always thought it might have been a Toronto thing, but now hearing you comment about this there must be something Telus does...perhaps to force you to buy their phones.
I don't think I'm going to give up on the HOX, I love this machine to death. Secretly I'm hoping someone will leak the stock Telus ROM so I can flash out of the stock Rogers ROM. I've recently updated to the latest Rogers Stock, and still same problem. LTE dl speeds capped around 10...
Lemmee know if you find a better solution than using KingCobra, I'm dying to see what true LTE feels like =P

I'm using a Telus One X....I haven't rooted / custom ROM'ed it yet...but contemplating doing so for LTE test purposes.
Right now, bone stock, I hit a max of 47mbit down today at Vaughan Mills; with an average of 20-25 mbit today.
OP have you tried the latest KingCobra rom released today?

Yeah on KingCobra 1.2 I get 25-55mbps its nice. I tried flashing his latest 1.4 but it was bugged wouldn't sync Google apps was waiting for him to fix it before I tried again.

Yeah I get LTE on most roms its just the download is capped at 10mbps for some reason and I know it can go faster.

I was never personally a fan of LTE even after I got my HOX, so losing it really didn't kill me. I am on the Telus network with a Telus HOX. I will revert back to my stock setup and see if I can pull anything out of it that is different from my current setup (CleanROM 4.5). IMO, 10mbps is plenty fast enough in everyday use, blows all my iJunk buddies out of the water anyways =p. Will report back.

Simple Mobile MMS Issue Need Your Help

I am on 4.0.4 OS
My MMS was working file before this updat , my internet working fine but unable to download MMS if some one send me keep failure any suggestion please

my mms was working fine also... i was paying the 50 plan, downloaded NRG rom, and they freaking locked my internet and slowed me down, saying i abuse the net
so i had to use my roadrunner light, and have been using my wifi,
so today i noticed, i could not receive or send mms, with the wifi... went crazy trying to figure it out.... i did upgrage to tmous v2.35.. so i downgraded to euro v2.31 from torxx Trickdroid v8.10... works great again, with wifi...
not sure if thats ur problem,, check it out,,, also my signature has the fix for locked apn switching back to tmobile instead of simple...

i use to use simple mobile, I've since switched to straight talk, it's 15$ cheaper per/mo and you can buy both the att and t-mo sim and switch back and forth (without losing your number or having to change it) depending on your location (in my area I use the T-mo sim because they kill att download speeds in Orlando...) it's quite nice and you'll never look back!

Everyone talking bout ROM I didn't change anything on my phone still running T-Mobile original OS 4.0.4 .
MMS was working fine still have same setting .... No idea what's wrong even I hardly use data only few MMS

yes, u can use your htc one s on simplemobile, straightalk, tmobile, att.. it has a micro sim card, just unlock the sim, and switch to any gsm company u want.

well everything seems to be correct, but try putting this "default,supl,mms" in the APN Type... reboot and see if that works...

Do we need mms apn or just one apn like I use to have

I just switched to ST with this same phone (TMobile HTC One S) and it keeps going back to the locked Tmobile APN's. Do you know how to get it to stick with the ST APN? Also, my MMS messages are not working. Can I root the phone and get access to delete the Tmobile APNs?

Cannot get LTE on my AT&T LG G2 only 4G

I'm running 4.4.2 on my LG G2 for AT&T
My wife just got the same phone and her phone shows 4G/LTE Mine shows only 4G
I checked our APN settings for both and they're the same
I checked through the 4636 code through the phone and it shows only the HSPA letters where hers shows up once again with LTE
ANY advice would be great

Try turning data off then on again, it will force it to search for the network.

i tried that one...and i tried the 4646 code and theres no option to change the NETWORK type...this friggin sux...no LTE on this phone and only "4G"...been tryng to figure this one out..
any advice much appreciated.

Maybe replace it?
If this is a new phone that you haven't tampered with, I suggest that you exchange it. New phones don't need any change in settings to connect to LTE out of the box.
Maybe it's a hardware problem. Did this problem just appear out of nowhere? (maybe after the update)?

Like the poster above if its stock return it otherwise reflash to stock to confirm the issue is still there, here's another thread dealing with the same issue http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2702386

you might be 'ROAMING'
this happens to me. i think theres no att tower near me, i think they use someone elses lte tower, but half of the android phones ive used need roaming enabled to connect to lte in my area. try that it might work.. its in the normal settings app under networks enable all roaming. never had any extra charges. att covers the nation and doesnt count local roaming.
BUT i agree with this guy if my suggestion doesnt work

Issues with MMS

Recently went to a CM12 build and even with CM11 I had the same issue. I am using ATT for my OPO and I can not send picture mails (mms) out of my messaging app. I changed to hangouts, and it sends out fine. Any one know why this is going on?

I'm on Rogers in Canada, in my case there's multiple APN on my Sim card..
I have an LTE APN and another APN for 3G I think. Everything else is the same within each APN, just the first couple lines are different. MMS doesn't work for me with the LTE APN but it works great with the 3G APN for some reason
Maybe your situation is similar?
I attached my APN list
In hangouts you're able to specify which APN you want to use, so I use LTE APN for my phone while I chose 3G APN for hangouts. The new Google messenger app doesn't allow for this unfortunately..

That looks like the same one I am using. Did you have an LTE phone before this one on AT&T? Have you tried changing to one of the other AT&T APN settings seeing if it works or not then changing back?

What i ended up doing is getting off a daily cm12 build, and went to blissrom, solved all my issues. No idea why though.... using the same messaging app T_T

I have had similar results with different ROMs. Sometimes messenger app works fine with MMS and other times I have to use Hangouts. I also see this happening when people send MMS from iOS to me.
