I would like to restore my HTC Desire S to stock.
I now have CyanogenMod-7.1.0-DesireS it's S-off.
I can't find any answers in Google.
First restore hboot with English hboot. Second install ruu. Third enjoy original rom.
Is most important that you for first restore English hboot if you don't restore it the ruu will not installed!

Rather flash a eng hboot (0.98.2000).
Then flash the RUU which is the right region, aslo you may need to change your misc version.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, basically I bought my desire s a few weeks ago and managed to root it, then added a Rom. However I believe I need to put back a stock Rom as it needs returning owing to a faulty speaker where I can't hear it ring, the output is getting worse each day. So basically I need to know which Rom and how to do it. I have tried searching but come to a dead end, lots of help for the desire but not my desire s. Many thanks in advance.
I'm sure I saw a thread knocking about in this forum where someone described the process of returning the phone completely back to s-on stock state, but I can't seem to find it myself now either.
Iirc though, restoring back to a stock rom and kernel may be enough to override the hboot and make it s-on and without root. There's something somewhere about flashing a stock hboot I'm sure.
Sorry I can't be more help than that.

You need to look here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113820
This will over ride your alpharev hboot with an Eng S off hboot flash it via bootloader or Android flasher 1.8
Once you have done this you can flash an official ruu which remove your s-off and root status

Hey guys a quick question (apologies for not doing extensive research, am using my gfs data plan and don't want to waste it)
I have on order a uk vodafone, how can I debrand it so that its a clean version and get updates from HTC? Do I have to soff then root to flash an ruu or can I just flash the latest stock ruu?
Thanks for any advice I get

You've hit the nail squarely on the head .
Basically, you just need to S-OFF (using Revolutionary), install clockwork mod recovery (do a complete wipe), then flash an RUU of your choice.
Good luck!
I'm pretty sure can just run the RUU with stock. RUU's are not custom they are used by HTC's own tech peeps.
yes, i have installed just the original RUU and the branding was gone...easy way
so you can actually RUU a device without S-off??
Yes you can. But the ROM on RUU must be newer than your current. (ie yours is 1.28.... and RUU has 1.45...)

Hi all,
I'm having a strange issue with the hboot downgrade process. I S-OFFed my DS using revolutionary, but wanted to go back to a stock ROM using one of the shipped RUUs. I realised I cannot flash the RUU over the revolutionary hboot, so I looked around the forum for a recipe how to downgrade to a stock 0.98.0000 or anything that would not render my DS unusable after using RUU.
I tried most hboot.img files on this forum and none of them managed to overwrite the current file. I don't know what to do, when I use the zip file method I get "Bootloader bypassed" message and nothing changes. I tried android flasher as well, and even though it reports that phone has been flashed successfully it sill comes up with the revolutionary hboot version and running a RUU makes my phone stuck on the HTC logo.
There was one tutorial topic on how to go back to the original hboot, but it was pulled by the author due to people bricking their phones caused by not following the instructions properly etc.
I would appreciate any help, as I really want to go back to S-ON and stock ROM. At the moment I'm rocking CM7 as thankfully I made a nandroid backup before playing with the hboot stuff.
Kris
You first need to flash a hboot that can be over written by a RUU. The one you need is Eng 0.98.2000, once you've flashed that you can install the RUU.
I think u need to flash it using adb or fastboot whilst the phone is in bootloader or maybe recovery

Hi all,
I searched everywhere and read everything about this, but it seems to be a little confusion yet
I would flash the new Sensation XE ICS RUU, but firstly I have many question:
1. I didn't do Super CID on my Sensation (regular, not XE, not 4G), must be done? I'm already S-OFF with Revolutionary.io tool and I can flash whatever ROM do I want.
2. If I doesn't like anything can I return back on 1.17.1111 HBOOT?
3. What are the requisites before flashing?
4. IT IS SAFE?
5. Anyone flashed that? Can you tell me some tips or perhaps warnings?
Sorry for being noob. I repeat: I read everything in this forum, but before flashing I want to make sure of everything twice.
Hello, I'am new in this forum: I have htc sensation xe, full originally, S-ON....ecc..
also I too am still confused:
1)Can I try the ICS Ruu with htc sensation xe S-ON?
2)If what is the procedure to do this?
Thanks in advance and sorry for being noob.

I don't think you can only "try". Maybe once you flash that RUU you can't reflash older RUUs back.
I'm not sure if you need super Cid completed. I have done it, since in the flashing forum, it is one of the steps to follow. I believe it is needed to flash rims to do with different carriers.
When you root your phone, go into clockworkmod recovery and backup your rom. The you can flash ics Tom and return to yourl original if you wish.
That is what I did. The ice roms. Are fairly laggy atm, so I revert back. Hope this helps

I didn't talk simply about any ROM, but an entire RUU.

If you are on a Sensation (non XE) then yes you should need supercid as you are installing a rom not of your carrier. Here is the way you can test. Download it and try to flash it. It will not let you if it has a CID issue then you SuperCID.
2 - Yup just flash the hboot from an earlier rom
3 - Check this -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414243
4 - Yes and no. If you mess up doing SuperCID you have a chance of bricking your phone but if you follow the instructions you should be fine.
5 - I haven't but across ARHD, Virtuous, RCMix, etc I have seen many who have and are up and running.
So I that I can try the sensation XE ICS RUU without the super-CID and with HTC sensation XE original and witouth root(S-ON)?
Then to return to the starting point (Android 2.3.4 and sense 3.0 original ) just reinstall the original RUU(RUU_Pyramid_LE_HTC_Europe_1.73.401.4_Radio_10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2_release_220036_signed) from here:filefactory.com/f/c87a2330449af512/?
thanks in andvance
If you are S-ON do NOT - under ANY circumstances - flash the RUU
If you do you will NOT be able to downgrade to a previous RUU as you won't be able to S-OFF your handset. You will be stuck with it until such time as Revolutionary works with the new HBOOT (if at all)
You have been warned...

I reinstall the previous hboot and then I can not in any way to unlock your phone (S-OFF)?
Hi
I have a htc desire s with revolutionary hboot (S-OFF).
I want to roll back to the stock hboot (0.98). I found it but when I try to flash it using fastboot, it tells me 'cannot roll back hboot'. How can I do to flash the old & stock hboot? (my ROM version is 1.47)
You must install an eng h-boot to be able to overwrite the existing one. Here it is
