Hi all,
I searched everywhere and read everything about this, but it seems to be a little confusion yet
I would flash the new Sensation XE ICS RUU, but firstly I have many question:
1. I didn't do Super CID on my Sensation (regular, not XE, not 4G), must be done? I'm already S-OFF with Revolutionary.io tool and I can flash whatever ROM do I want.
2. If I doesn't like anything can I return back on 1.17.1111 HBOOT?
3. What are the requisites before flashing?
4. IT IS SAFE?
5. Anyone flashed that? Can you tell me some tips or perhaps warnings?
Sorry for being noob. I repeat: I read everything in this forum, but before flashing I want to make sure of everything twice.
Hello, I'am new in this forum: I have htc sensation xe, full originally, S-ON....ecc..
also I too am still confused:
1)Can I try the ICS Ruu with htc sensation xe S-ON?
2)If what is the procedure to do this?
Thanks in advance and sorry for being noob.

I don't think you can only "try". Maybe once you flash that RUU you can't reflash older RUUs back.
I'm not sure if you need super Cid completed. I have done it, since in the flashing forum, it is one of the steps to follow. I believe it is needed to flash rims to do with different carriers.
When you root your phone, go into clockworkmod recovery and backup your rom. The you can flash ics Tom and return to yourl original if you wish.
That is what I did. The ice roms. Are fairly laggy atm, so I revert back. Hope this helps

I didn't talk simply about any ROM, but an entire RUU.

If you are on a Sensation (non XE) then yes you should need supercid as you are installing a rom not of your carrier. Here is the way you can test. Download it and try to flash it. It will not let you if it has a CID issue then you SuperCID.
2 - Yup just flash the hboot from an earlier rom
3 - Check this -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414243
4 - Yes and no. If you mess up doing SuperCID you have a chance of bricking your phone but if you follow the instructions you should be fine.
5 - I haven't but across ARHD, Virtuous, RCMix, etc I have seen many who have and are up and running.
So I that I can try the sensation XE ICS RUU without the super-CID and with HTC sensation XE original and witouth root(S-ON)?
Then to return to the starting point (Android 2.3.4 and sense 3.0 original ) just reinstall the original RUU(RUU_Pyramid_LE_HTC_Europe_1.73.401.4_Radio_10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2_release_220036_signed) from here:filefactory.com/f/c87a2330449af512/?
thanks in andvance
If you are S-ON do NOT - under ANY circumstances - flash the RUU
If you do you will NOT be able to downgrade to a previous RUU as you won't be able to S-OFF your handset. You will be stuck with it until such time as Revolutionary works with the new HBOOT (if at all)
You have been warned...

ok thanks for the advice;
but if you reinstall the RUU: RUU_Pyramid_LE_HTC_Europe_1.73.401.4_Radio_10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2_release_220036_signed
I reinstall the previous hboot and then I can not in any way to unlock your phone (S-OFF)?

Update 2011/08/14
Added more information and details
Renamed thread into GUIDE
Using this guide will reset your device into a vanilla 2.3.4 HTC Sensation phone. Your SD-Card wont be touched and you will have S-OFF and root. This will lock your bootloader but that should not be a problem since you are still S-OFF and can flash whatever you want - except the bootloader. I tested these steps and i have a 2.3.4 401 Sensation with Locked HBOOT, S-OFF and root.
If you want S-OFF & ROOT on the latest HTC 2.3.4 ROM follow the steps:
1) Backup
2) Get S-OFF on 2.3.3 (Guide Thread)
3) Recover your phone with original 2.3.3 Update
http://www.filefactory.com/file/cc03797/n/RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.35.401.1_Radio_10.43a.900 7.00U_10.51.9007.27_M3_release_198179_signed.exe
4) Update to 2.3.4 via "Over The Air" (OTA) or using OpenRecovery (OR). I did not use the OR-Method but you can find a lot of information about here. I do not advertise any guides for the OR-method since i did not test them myself.
4) Execute step 2.1 to 2.6 from the Sensation Guide (Guide Thread)
5) Get root again: Sensation Guide 3.1 to 3.12 (Guide Thread)
Have fun!

anyone have a change log? google failed me for once in my life
The 2.3.4 update include an new hboot Version 1.18...
Are u sure that u can install cwm and root the phone again after applying the update?
I think u will be s-on again after the hboot get changed...
Everything I'm reading (the two other threads about this update) says the above method will NOT work. I don't think the OP even tried. Wait for a real dev to cook this up.

Oh boy Some of use knew this was gonna happen
do not flash this to a stock rooted rom - it will **** it up - wait for your favourite dev to update their rom
flashing this will give you the new locked htc bootloader and you will not be s-off anymore (even though it still says you are)
it's taken me nearly 3 hours to get back to normal

Hi all,
I've just done this update
Backup with Titanium
Reflash with 2.3.3 stock ROM (my Sensation was already S-Off)
OTA update to 2.3.4
ClockWork Recovery
Root
Restore with Titanium
Reboot and that's it
No OTA
I did exactly like shown in the first post, but i wont get the update ota. It sais that my phone is actually actual.
Could I have done something wrong?
Got the Sensation from T-mobile -> debrandet it like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193033
And used the RUU version from the first post.
Thanks
done as suggested - works fine for me!

no - i did not try to.
I am pretty happy with my phone right now. Fast and long battery pack - replaced Sense with LP.
When testing the early (pre-soff) custom roms and test recoverys I had to flash stock RUUs a couple of times.
To get the phone back into a decent state I needed to pg58 flash eng&unsecured boot then root and fastboot recovery.
Can't for the life of me think why anyone would s-off their phone then install stock/ota for any reason (bar repair). It's like buying a track day race car, shouting "look what I've got" then pushing it around rather than thrashing it.

Thanks. That's what I thought. I removed the hboot from the OTA before flashing it so couldn't confirm for myself. There's been a lot of conflicting information about whether phones are still S-OFF after running the unmodified OTA but it appears that they are. I only ran the RUU then OTA so I could have a backup of a stock 1.45 system.img.

hey there,
bought my gf a desire s to christmas. i, as a sensation user at the moment am very comfortable with development. flashing, adb, fastboot and things like that are working flawless.
as i don't have so much time to read atm, i have some questions concerning the way to set the desire s up. it was shipped with 1.47 rom, t-mobile branded, sense 2.1, android 2.3.1 and hboot 0.98.0002
i want to flash this rom: endymion sense v3.1 (android 2.3.5, sense 3.5)
i already achieved s-off with revolutionary, hboot is now 6.98.1002 with radio 3805.06.02.03_M. 4ext recovery 2.2.7RC5 is installed as well.
now i saw, that there is RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.8_Radio_20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_225161_signed.exe availble. i also read in the forum, that this ota brings some parts for firmware, which are not flashed with a custom rom.
so would you recommend to flash this ruu first? wouldn't i lose s-off then? would i be abled to achieve s-off again after flashing this? also, for my sensation i would have to supercid first - i didn't read about this here in the forums.
what i would want to do:
1. flash RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.8_Radio_20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_225161_signed.exe
2. run revolutionary again
3. flash custom recovery
4. flash endymion v3.1
would it be possible this way? or would you recommend any other way to me? i want to have all firmware parts as up to date as possible before i flash the custom rom.

Cause you are already s-off I would say it's senseless to use the ruu first, because it would put you back to s-on like you suggested, but only if the revolutionary bootloader doesn't make problems.
There are many reports of problems with it and I would say you should replace it with the 2.00.2002 engineer bootloader.
before just flash a custom recovery (I would recommend 4ext touch) and if your done with the bootloader flash the ROM of your choice.
To get bootloader, recovery,... just look at the index thread at the development section, it's all in there.
The last step to achieve a full upgraded phone would be to update the radio to the latest version, this you will also find at the index thread.
Happy modding

Yes this guide is to "downgrade" (in fact it's an upgrade, even if the version number is lower).
Yes you would stay s-off.
No it not brings you all what is missing, just a part of it, the rest you get with flashing the radio and the rom.

It's not really needed, you can do it if it's in the zip (or better said if it's there it's done at the flashing procedure), but you're also good to go without it.
Hi all,
New to sensation, and I'm going to be a bit cautious and ask before royally messing up...
Going for ARHD and I'm looking at firmwares. My cid and MID do not match with supported devices listed. So, what is the likelyhood of a brick if I edit the files to include my id's? Would it be better to force another id on? Is it possible to change the MID in fastboot at all?
Currently rooted and have necessary recovery and gingerbread ARHD.
THANKS!

Hi,
When you did s-off,did you do Super CID?
Is your phone S-Off and SuperCID?
You can check if you're are S-off by booting into recovery, and you can check if you're superCID by using fastboot in the terminal.
Code:
fastboot getvar cid
This command will return 11111111 if you are SuperCID.
If you want to flash 6.0.X you need to install new firmware, the PG58IMG.zip package. You want "Firmware from 3.12.401.2/102 RUU"
make sure to check the md5sum of all packages and follow the instructions for all the roms diligently and you'll be ok.
Don't want to superCID? Use the firmware in my signature I have added most to supported devices

I have supercid'd and made the leap on the firmware and.....
6.0.3 is running. Not great, Im getting random reboots/shutoffs, odd BT issues...
hopefully when I get the suggested radio to flash it'll be sorted. The one on the ARHD thread will not flash for me doing it the way in instructions or manually in fastboot.

Hi,
The suggested radio is included in the firmware update,so you already have it.
Check: Settings>about phone>software information>more>baseband version.
It should be 11.65.3504.00U_11.19.3504.29_2
First thing's first - I'm definitely not a newb.
My phone (Sensation 4G on T-Mobile USA) is depended upon for work and person use. I've been playing with a lot of custom ROMs and each and every one of them has their own little quirks.
Because of this I have seriously considered going back to stock, but I want to be sure that I can receive OTA updates.
I realize that I can get everything back to stock via RUU, HOWEVER, with SuperCID in place, would I still be able to receive OTA updates? I've read that the RUU doesn't replace the SuperCID with the shipped value.
If not, how would I get the SuperCID back to the original value (which unfortunately I don't have - phone was bought used and already rooted) ?
Thanks so much!
You can get the OTA with superCID the RUU will unroot your phone and reinstall the stock recovery. You will need the stock recovery or you could Brock your phone
If you want to be on the safe side and rewrite your cid do the steps you did to get superCID but instead of 11111111 put T-MOB010 That should get you back on track

Are you sure for this? From what I know IF you install stock ROM from RUU, it will automatically unroot the phone, get back to S-On and of course replace your bootloader with the original one. However to be honest I don't know what happens if you install stock from clockwork recovery - maybe that way the bootloader will not be replaced and you will still have S-Off and root.
TO JWhipple: The Super CID shouldn't matter for RUU. However you could always change it back to your phone/operator version before installing RUU.
@up: not in Sensation. After installing stock with RUU, S-OFF will remain still. To get S-ON back follow this guide. I'm sure, tested on my own Sensation
What would be the right order to go with:
Do you start with changing the SuperCID back to the original one forst or would you first have to go back to S-ON?
SIMPLY TELL ME ONE THING
that can we have official update after installing the latest ruu with s-on and unroot but with super cid?????
thanks

installing stock ruu doesnt change the phone to s-on or unroot.......but see the guide to do s-on then u might get the official updates
The ruu simply changes your rom to stock unrooted, changes radio, recovery and hboot. It doesn't change stuff like cid and s-off. In theory you can get ota updates with supercid and s-off. The only thing required, would be the stock recovery

Quick question, a few guides to going back to stock Sensation point or that you have to downgrade the firmware and radio. Is downgrading the radio (and firmware for that matter) necessary before flashing stock ROM with RUU? I did it with the last sensation before sending it in for warranty replacement, but only because the guide suggested it. But next time I wouldn't do it if I don't have to. Thanks ahead.

No it is not necessary. It will be required only if your device is S-ON and RUU version is older. Just remeber that if your phone is S-OFF and you want to put it S-ON again, do that after you have flashed stock ROM.
Hi is it possible to install CyanogenMod 9 Stable Release for Sensation in my HTC Sensation which is S-ON but has bootloader unlocked.
My firmware is stock 3.33.401.6.
Thanks!
I think you can do that with 4EXT's smartflash. But why not just s-off your phone? It'll open up a lot more possibilities for you. Not to mention making flashing new ROMs much easier.
Just like what Skipjacks said. use the 4EXT smartflash. I, too, have my sensation xe S-ON but unlocked with HTC DEV. It is not necessary to S-OFF anyways (it just makes things easier). Follow this thread's guide in number 5 and you will be able to utilize your S-ONed Sensation with no problem. Remember to enable the Smartflash both in recovery menu and in the app every time you flash any ROM or Kernel.

I have hboot 1.27 and tried Juopunutbear S-OFF but it is not working, I think because I have 3.33.401.6 firmware, it is said on the Juopunutbear S-OFF guide(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614617) that it is for 3.32.
