[Q] Desire S rooted needs unrooting - HTC Desire S

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, basically I bought my desire s a few weeks ago and managed to root it, then added a Rom. However I believe I need to put back a stock Rom as it needs returning owing to a faulty speaker where I can't hear it ring, the output is getting worse each day. So basically I need to know which Rom and how to do it. I have tried searching but come to a dead end, lots of help for the desire but not my desire s. Many thanks in advance.

I'm sure I saw a thread knocking about in this forum where someone described the process of returning the phone completely back to s-on stock state, but I can't seem to find it myself now either.
Iirc though, restoring back to a stock rom and kernel may be enough to override the hboot and make it s-on and without root. There's something somewhere about flashing a stock hboot I'm sure.
Sorry I can't be more help than that.

You need to look here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113820
This will over ride your alpharev hboot with an Eng S off hboot flash it via bootloader or Android flasher 1.8
Once you have done this you can flash an official ruu which remove your s-off and root status

When I try this method, bootloader says bypassed?
Any ideas.
chill...............

Ok this is how I did it I download this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15493125&postcount=1
On my lap top I extracted the zip file
Then put your phone in fastboot making sure it says fastboot usb then run Android flasher 1.8 chose hboot and browse for the .img file you extracted from the zip file earlier if all goes well you will be eng s- off then you can reflash an ruu

S-off Original Roms

Well i did s-off my device first and then i did flash the original RUU roms and boot in to bootloader and shocked to find that s-off is still there.... so for whoever asking if flashing the original HTC rom will it s-on back well the ans is no ?
I assume s-off would stay permanently, just the original rom should no longer be rooted.

yeah so you have to manually flash the su zip file and clockwork mod recovery file... such a pain in the arse lol...

Quick root question

I've had many Android devices before. New to this one. Rooted them all but just to ask, I rooted with ace hack tool. Everything went ok was going to flash Android Revolution Rom but it recommends using the radio posted. Now than I'm rooted and s-off in hboot how do I know I have both eng hboot and radio s-off pretty sure I have radio s-off because of process it takes to root but not sure about eng hboot. Never had to have both in other devices but thanks for your help.

you dont need eng s-off. just go to the radio/rils thread and get a PD98IMG.zip, put it on the root of your sdcard, boot into hboot, and select yes when it prompts you
Ok that'll work didn't think of it just wanted to make sure was correct radio in the post for the Rom it just said to use that radio wasn't sure if was any different from others but should of checked also said would need eng hboot and s-off so thanks will do so.

The problem with the revolutionary hboot is that it's a little bit tricky to overwrite it, cause of this only the adb method with dd command works, take a look at this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285312
there is this solution described and also other possibilities of this fails, after you got that just run a ruu and your device should be stock within s-on.

is it not possible to use this method? haha sounds so much easier...
1.Take the ENG HBOOT found here and put the PG88IMG.zip in the root of your SD card
2.Boot into the bootloader (Volume Down + POWER)
3.Go into FASTBOOT mode
4.The bootloader will automagically detect your new HBOOT and install it
5.After rebooting your phone you can install any RUU you want. That will bring HBOOT back to the installed original
Unfortunatly with revolutionary bootloader not.
oh damn lool..
time to take the risky path
thanks anyway will let you know how it goes...
thanks once again mate

[Q] Very strange issue with hboot

Hi all,
I'm having a strange issue with the hboot downgrade process. I S-OFFed my DS using revolutionary, but wanted to go back to a stock ROM using one of the shipped RUUs. I realised I cannot flash the RUU over the revolutionary hboot, so I looked around the forum for a recipe how to downgrade to a stock 0.98.0000 or anything that would not render my DS unusable after using RUU.
I tried most hboot.img files on this forum and none of them managed to overwrite the current file. I don't know what to do, when I use the zip file method I get "Bootloader bypassed" message and nothing changes. I tried android flasher as well, and even though it reports that phone has been flashed successfully it sill comes up with the revolutionary hboot version and running a RUU makes my phone stuck on the HTC logo.
There was one tutorial topic on how to go back to the original hboot, but it was pulled by the author due to people bricking their phones caused by not following the instructions properly etc.
I would appreciate any help, as I really want to go back to S-ON and stock ROM. At the moment I'm rocking CM7 as thankfully I made a nandroid backup before playing with the hboot stuff.
Kris
You first need to flash a hboot that can be over written by a RUU. The one you need is Eng 0.98.2000, once you've flashed that you can install the RUU.
I think u need to flash it using adb or fastboot whilst the phone is in bootloader or maybe recovery

[Q] How to Manually S-OFF?

Ok here it goes I will try to explain my situation. Sorry for my lack of information, and other nonsense.
I have unlocked bootloaded using HTC dev my bootloader shows a pink ***UNLOCKED*** at the top. I have loaded cwm recovery using aahk. All my attempts at trying to gain s-off have failed. I dont care about setting CID to 111111 (however many 1's it is) Is there a way to gain S-OFF with out using the aahk. I can't seem to flash any ROMS using cwm because of s-on?
When trying to attempt the downgrade via aahk in linux I am getting invalid image or some error in HBOOT, I just need to figure out how to gain s-off and all my problem I think will be solved. My problem, I have root, s-on, cwm recovery. but when flashing zips in CWM I get stuck on HTC screen. It's like its failing to write to some partitions because of s-on? I can make and restore backups just fine, except that one time when I flashed a boot.img with fastboot. (was getting desperate) so I restored and flashed the boot.img from my nandroid. All is well again.
Running Software:
Android v 2.3.3
HTC Sense 2.1
Baseband 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M
Kernal 2.6.35.10-gd2564fb
Build 2.47.502.7
HBOOT info:
*** UNLOCKED *** (Via HTC DEV )
ACE PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-0.85.0024
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.10.04.03_M
Please any help or other information will be very helpful, in the mean time I will search and read up on everything. But all I seem to find is outdated information, and aahk. I would prefer to do everything manually, not matter how hard or how long it takes. I feel better doing everything myself, and I will know what went wrong and where when doing it this way. Please if there is a way to manually S-OFF, HELPS!
P.S. I have root if that helps, gained root using another tool I think it was htcsupertoolv3, but I have tried another tool as well, HTC_QuickRoot_1.1.13_Release.
Another question, Is it the radio flashing that gains S-OFF? is there a way to radio flash using fastboot with S-ON? I can flash stuff with fastboot. I Imagine I can flash with Hboot as well using a gold card, but for some reason I'm getting invalid image errors in Hboot when using aahk.
I just need some help in general lol. Don't be shy ppl I hit the thanks button alot. Thanks in advance!
You need to flash the insecure boot img and relock the bootloader before trying to run aahk... Do you have good instructions for that process?

Wow, so all I need is the boot.img ( I can flash with fastboot correct?) Then relock bootloader, I don't exactly have good instructions, but I'm sure I can find! Thank you My head was hurting, now to start my search!
p.s. If you already got a link by all means post away!
I pm'd you step by step instructions for unlocking inspire, build 3.02.502.52...assuming that's what you are dealing with... If you're part way through the process already, or have already rooted via another method though, I have know idea if it'll work or what potential consequences there could be....so use it at your own risk.

Worked Like A Champ! Thank You, That boot.img is actually the one I flashed before when I thought I had screwed everything up. I just didnt relock then rerun aahk. I feel so dumb now. Thank goodness you saved my day! Much LOVE AND THANKS!
Glad I could actually help...
Now go flash Viper 1.2.3 in the Desire HD Dev threads and enjoy your *new* phone!

Totally went with Jellytime R30 xD, Perhaps I'll try Viper
This was my first HTC phone, and I must say after getting through all the confusion in reading old outdated stuff. It's one of my favs!
Again Thanks for the info about flashing the insecure boot.img and relocking bootloader in prep for aahk, Hopefully ppl like me who tend to overlook stuff will see this, and help them too.
Until my next phone adventure! Peace OUT XDA!
I'll just put this link here for anyone else who stumbles across this thread. It's a detailed list of instructions for new att Rom
