I don't fully understand this, but it seems as if it will give a performance boost to our heros, is this right? I am running Jaybob's TeamHeroC-7.2.X. So can I just flash this from your CWM recovery?

What's the flash order for wanting to flash from the beginning with firerats? I tried the classic: flash recovery, wipe data cache and system, reboot recovery, flash rom, flash gapps, flash kernel, flash opengl 2.0 mod, flash boot, and reboot, but all I got was a bootloop back to recovery. I'm using the latest 5.5.0.4 recovery, is there anything else I should be aware of or a different order I should try?

Fixed it. OP updated
If you're running cm7 or a cm7-based gingerbread rom, opengl2.0 is already a part of the rom. No need to flash this.
Not in our CM7 roms.... dont be putting out false info... not cool. We had the opengles.version trick which tricked apps into thinking we had 2.0 when in fact we didn't.
Really? that's interesting because on the gsm side's forum, they did say that hero cm7 roms already had opengl2.0 built in. sorry if it's wrong information, but i do not take credit for it at all. hehe.
I had no idea about the opengles trick. apologies.
Look in my ICS thread. Pier11 tells more about it.

So I thought I installed this, but in my /system/build.prop, I have this line:
ro.opengles.version = 65537
Shouldn't it be 131072?
Here's what I did:
* booted into recovery (your old 5.0.2.4 I think)
* backed up
* flashed your new recovery (5.5.something)
* rebooted recovery
* flashed firerats
* formatted /system, /cache, and /data
* rebooted recovery
* restored backup
* flashed this opengl 2.0
* flashed firerats
* rebooted system
Did I do something wrong?

Glad you got it working. To answer the question about .txt on the phone, others have reported that using a different browser works for downloading the .img file correctly. I think they used Dolphin browser from the market.
I tried method 2 and method 3 above without success. Trying to go from 2.5.0.1 to 3.0.0.5. Attempts to boot into recovery and then reboots again and boots normally. Suggestions?

don't flash the 3.0.0.5, you don't need it for GB. the reason I think people have been having so much trouble is that the recovery is overclocked, so some phones can't handle it. same thing goes for the GB rom, if it loops and hangs etc., just flash a capped 691 kernel after the rom and gapps, it *should* work.
OK NOW - TO ALL FUTURE POSTS - PLEASE DON'T, LOL.
AOSP MADE THIS RECOVERY AND IS CONSTANTLY UPDATING IT
3.0.0.5 CAN BE FOUND IN THE 2.3 GINGERBREAD THREAD

would you correct me if I said he made his rom, because technincally google MADE it, but he did in fact tweak it,build it,compile it, for the hero.

Method III worked fine for me. Just follow instructions carefully, and don't forget to do "su" first (lets terminal use root privileges).
I'm curious why RomManager doesn't update the version number. I know I'm using 3.0.0.5 because of the new orange text, but RomManager still shows 2.5.0.1
Anyone?

Okay so I went and got the latest working updates from everything and put it in a convenient package for you.
One Click Root Apk: Version 0.1.0
Radio: 2.42.02.10.29
HBoot: 1.47.0000
Kernel: 2.6.29.6 (up to 768 Mhz and its stable )
ClockworkMod Recovery: 3.0.0.5
CynanogenMod: 6.2 - No longer needed
S-OFF
Step by Step Instructions below.
The instructions are only for people running CynanogenMod and ClockworkMod recovery.
Unzip everything.zip to your sdcard
Also put Kernel.zip on your sdcard
You HAVE to install these in a specific order otherwise some things won't work.
Flash CynanogenMod 6.2 if you havent already. It has the latest kernel in it already which goes up to 768 Mhz. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731659 here's the new link
Install Rom Manager and flash ClockworkMod recovery 2.5.0.1. Now you MUST backup with it.
Run the ruu included in the zip. this will give you the latest HBoot.
Boot into hboot mode (volume down and power button) and look to make sure it installed HBoot 1.4.7.0000
reboot
install heroroot010.apk
run heroroot.apk and it will give you darchstar's recovery and put a file on your sdcard called rootme.zip
reboot
reboot into Darchstar's recovery
flash rootme.zip
reboot
you now should have root and should have the super user app. if you dont then something went wrong and you should try again.
if you have root, download rom manager and flash ClockworkMod 2.5.0.1
restore your backup with ClockworkMod recovery
reboot
reboot to recovery
flash radio.zip
it will tell you to reboot after it is done.
this boot will take a while so be patient
reboot again
reboot into recovery
wipe dalvik
flash kernel.zip
reboot
reboot recovery
warning: there is no hboot s-on for the cdma hero YET. they are working on it though.
flash S_OFF.zip
reboot
you now have hboot s-off
reboot into recovery
plug phone into computer
run the following code in adb:
adb shell
mount sdcard
flash_image recovery /sdcard/CWMR3.0.0.5.img
exit
adb reboot recovery
reboot
done!

You really need to credit the people who made this stuff in your op unless you want to get infracted or banned. Also this is a pointless thread as these things can be easily found by searching. And you haven't developed anything here so this should be in another forum, not development. Seems like you just keep making threads in development of other peoples work for no reason. Way to go.

I'm sorry but what is the MD5? And I have tried a few roms for nexus s. Latest one is BOFTAIN-NS-V1.
Btw, when I install a rom i get E:ERROR IN /SDCARD/MIUIDEV.....ZIP (STATUS 7)."INSTALLATION ABORTED" What does STATUS 7 MEAN?
MD5 has (or checksum) functions as a compact digital fingerprint of a file. The download file and on both ends should have the same number. As for the status 7 not sure. I have never had that issue. I do recall others in the past did. What recovery version do you have?
I tried another thread that said to download the stock 2.3 gingerbread.... and the file is a backup for the nandroid something something. I did just as the instructiond stated.
But when it tries to restore it says CAN'T MOUNT SYSTEM. and it stops right there.

There is a guide on how to flash a new radio on the One S, but its outdated and obsolete.
While we still dont have S-OFF yet, there is a trick that lets you flash radio images.
Requirements.
The latest TWRP recovery image. Available here.
Grab the latest US or EU radio here and copy it to your SD Card. (adb push filename.zip /sdcard/radio.zip) Click the changelog-button to see which radio's are US and EU.
Lets get flashing
Reboot your device into the bootloader.
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Use fastboot to boot up into recovery.
Code:
fastboot boot openrecovery-twrp-2.3.1.0-ville.img
You will boot directly into recovery from the recovery image, and no restrictions apply. Now simply flash the radio.zip file that you pushed over earlier, and you're all set!
Enjoy!

Is it really bad if I flash a EU radio on my TMOBUS device? I have done so 24hrs ago and notice very fast speeds and good signal strength. I don't get why there is a difference.

Had the exact same problem as you.
I just flashed the recovery with CWM recovery image. The one in this topic didn't work for me cause it wouldn't mount the /sdcard either. I used a different version.
Then I just installed the radio.zip from this topic.
So if I have the last CWM, just I have to put the zip to the SD, and flash it from recovery?

From what Ive been told, and what I did, was to boot directly into the latest recovery image. Meaning, you dont flash the recovery image first, you simply fastboot boot into it, then you flash the radio.zip from there.
Again, make sure you pick the newest version of the recovery image.

No Ville-specific improvements, just the latest CM9 commits. Its basically the exact same ROM, just with the latest CM9 improvements.
Thanks Untouchab1e!

flash directly from cwm?
having already unlocked, root and flashed the latest cwm, can't i just move the radio.zip file to the phone and flash directly in cwm instead of all commands?
Team Win Recovery Project 3.x, or twrp3 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
*
* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you.
*
*/
Features:
- Decrypt is not working for now
- Backup still have some problems use it carefully
Install guide:
1. Install fastboot tools from google's sdk on your PC
2. Enter fastboot mode
3. Unlock your bootloader
4. Run "fastboot boot recoveryimgfilename.img" in command line (if you want to have it permanently you should flash the installer)
5. If you will flash the installer and you are stock you need also to flash magisk or your phone will not boot again
6. Enjoy it
How to flash a custom Rom:
Boot twrp
Flash rom
Flash twrp installer
Boot twrp
Wipe data & art cache
Flash magisk
Reboot
Tips:
If you alread have a twrp flashed you can only flash the new installer zip to update your TWRP (remember to flash again magisk or your system will not boot).
If you have some problems with backup, like 255 error or something similar please check this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/255-error-twrp-backup-restore-999-t3801632
For the Bacups use always "system_image" and "vendor_image" instead of "system" and "vendor".

finally. thanks for the hardworking. i will check if it works or not.
Thank you for your hard work.
Seem this rec was for international version, as it showed SKR-H0 when I connected to the phone to PC.
As for CN ver in which I made the try, it reverses the screen.
To me, the decryption has gone after wiping /data and booting again using fastboot.
Backup was smooth. MTP mount was also great.
Now I'm trying flashing magisk. Will update ASAP

Updating
CN version works great with back up and magisk using the TWRP from the OP, just remember to boot into stock recovery to wipe after magisk flashing as I could not reboot successfully from TWRP.
As for installing this rec permanently, I have not tried.
Once more time, thank you.
This is great news! I really love the progress we have made as a community!
Thank you for your hard work, I'll be testing it today
EDIT: tested, here are the problems found so far testing it on a chinese SKR-A0:
- the image on the display is upside down but the touch is right, so navigating the menus requires some effort

I got no idea on this actually it works, just the cosmetic issue. I think spending on next release with other issue is better than concentrating on this small one.
Appreciated your work and hope to see the update

Hello guys. I installed TWRP, well, when I tried to put Magisk, something went wrong, and now I can not log in to the system, the boot sign in the system constantly hangs. I can not delete Magisk using magisk uninstaller, it gives an error that I need to mount the system. With TWRP, I can not do this. The section is, well, you can not mount. I need your help, please skip the Boot section from the global version, it may still be possible to start the system.

I think you should:
- wipe data
- install Magisk
- boot into original recovery
- wipe data again from there
- reboot
And you should be able to boot!

Write a way to do this. I would be very grateful, there may be people who will want to help me, and I’ll draw out the original boot.img. Maybe I'm not the first, and not the last who will face this situation, and already it will be for all the same as I have an airbag.

To extract the stock boot, you should boot the twrp and from the pc using adb run these commands (remember if you have already rooted or if you flashed the twrp installer, you have no more the stock boot on your deivce:
Code:
adb shell dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/boot of=/boot.img
adb pull /boot.img <pcpath>
For example in my case to copy it on desktop:
Code:
adb shell dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/boot of=/boot.img
adb pull /boot.img D:\Desktop
