Everything Updated in one Place with CM 6.2 and CWM recovery - Hero CDMA Android Development

Okay so I went and got the latest working updates from everything and put it in a convenient package for you.
One Click Root Apk: Version 0.1.0
Radio: 2.42.02.10.29
HBoot: 1.47.0000
Kernel: 2.6.29.6 (up to 768 Mhz and its stable )
ClockworkMod Recovery: 3.0.0.5
CynanogenMod: 6.2 - No longer needed
S-OFF
Step by Step Instructions below.
The instructions are only for people running CynanogenMod and ClockworkMod recovery.
Unzip everything.zip to your sdcard
Also put Kernel.zip on your sdcard
You HAVE to install these in a specific order otherwise some things won't work.
Flash CynanogenMod 6.2 if you havent already. It has the latest kernel in it already which goes up to 768 Mhz. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731659 here's the new link
Install Rom Manager and flash ClockworkMod recovery 2.5.0.1. Now you MUST backup with it.
Run the ruu included in the zip. this will give you the latest HBoot.
Boot into hboot mode (volume down and power button) and look to make sure it installed HBoot 1.4.7.0000
reboot
install heroroot010.apk
run heroroot.apk and it will give you darchstar's recovery and put a file on your sdcard called rootme.zip
reboot
reboot into Darchstar's recovery
flash rootme.zip
reboot
you now should have root and should have the super user app. if you dont then something went wrong and you should try again.
if you have root, download rom manager and flash ClockworkMod 2.5.0.1
restore your backup with ClockworkMod recovery
reboot
reboot to recovery
flash radio.zip
it will tell you to reboot after it is done.
this boot will take a while so be patient
reboot again
reboot into recovery
wipe dalvik
flash kernel.zip
reboot
reboot recovery
warning: there is no hboot s-on for the cdma hero YET. they are working on it though.
flash S_OFF.zip
reboot
you now have hboot s-off
reboot into recovery
plug phone into computer
run the following code in adb:
adb shell
mount sdcard
flash_image recovery /sdcard/CWMR3.0.0.5.img
exit
adb reboot recovery
reboot
done!

6.2 has been around since mid to late December... if not earlier.
P.S. You may wish to give people credit where credit is due.

You're a hero with a hero -- saved me boat loads of time!

I don't see anything named cyanogenmod 6.2 in the zip or the provided link...

You really need to credit the people who made this stuff in your op unless you want to get infracted or banned. Also this is a pointless thread as these things can be easily found by searching. And you haven't developed anything here so this should be in another forum, not development. Seems like you just keep making threads in development of other peoples work for no reason. Way to go.

Im putting on the credits now and this is just a package that has everything in it so people DONT have to search for it so it saves them a lot of time plus it has step by step instructions 4 people who dont know how.. and there is no where else to put it otherwise i would.

Q & A would be a tad more appropriate since nothing is being developed here.

kk. will do next time. and if u guys want anymore of these packages pm me da details. itll be in q and a from now on

Since when is there a CM 6.2? The last stable release is 6.1. Anything else is unstably/nightly/unofficial

its been out for a while dude. just look at the link i posted. completely stable. idk why they havnt updated they're site yet. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731659

That's not 6.2, that's some custom build. Don't know why it's called 6.2, as there never was a 6.2, they went straight into 7

[ROM] Stock 2.1 Hero Update zip from RUU_Hero_C_Sprint_2.20.651.1_signed_test.exe

Since some people were interested I've made a stock update zip from the RUU_Hero_C_Sprint_2.20.651.1_signed_test.exe so you can flash via recovery.
This is just for those who want a completely stock rom to work off of or those that can't or don't want to run the RUU. If you want something already tweaked then use DamageControl. I'm not trying to start a custom rom I just did this for a couple people that wanted it.
It does not include the new hboot or radio.img included in the RUU and the system is stock except for adding busybox, patched su and sh.
To use su you need to install Superuser.apk.
Busybox is not installed by default you can do that through a terminal app or adb executing su and running "busybox --install /system/xbin".
You must be rooted and flash via Amon_ra recovery. Recommend nandroid backup and wipe/factory reset before flashing.
Here is a link to my post on how to make an update zip from the RUU.
Download link for the update/rom:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6022412/zen-hero_0.1b.zip
The link might be down since dropbox just suspended my public links due to excessive traffic.
Alternate download:
http://www.4shared.com/file/YqMmKAzL/zen-hero_01b.html
This is a link to my google code site where i put up some of the binaries/scripts that I use for rom making. These are linux binaries. If you download them put them in your path so you can execute them from anywhere. Also make sure you chmod them to executable. If you don't know how the google can tell you.
http://code.google.com/p/zen-droid/downloads/list
Due to recent events I just want to say that the devs here put a lot of work into getting you guys these leaked roms. They risk their credibility and their sources risk their jobs. So have some respect and remember it's just a phone.
Thank you,I'm sure a lot of people were wanting this.
What is the point of making a zip when you can just use the RUU?
My RUU just got done booting!

For people not running windows and for people that don't want to risk flashing hboot or the radio.img.
See I did not know it came with the radio image!
Just booted up fine and got the new radio image and a knew PRI# and was able to update my PRL as well!

Yea I thought that was kind of funny. Nice name for a rom though
yeah well, I thought it had a nicer ring to it than fengshuidroid.... was going for a rom which was also centered around a nice clean theme to the sense ui. I'm still making headway on the project.

Now this might be a stupid question, but do we need Root for this? I have a friend who's terrified of Rooting but really wants 2.1, so could he just Flash this through the Stock Recovery Image, or should I force him to Root?
Edit: NVM sorry I just read the 1st post on page 2. Told you it was a stupid question.
It seems like the flash_image command is missing.

Glad you got it working. To answer the question about .txt on the phone, others have reported that using a different browser works for downloading the .img file correctly. I think they used Dolphin browser from the market.
I tried method 2 and method 3 above without success. Trying to go from 2.5.0.1 to 3.0.0.5. Attempts to boot into recovery and then reboots again and boots normally. Suggestions?

don't flash the 3.0.0.5, you don't need it for GB. the reason I think people have been having so much trouble is that the recovery is overclocked, so some phones can't handle it. same thing goes for the GB rom, if it loops and hangs etc., just flash a capped 691 kernel after the rom and gapps, it *should* work.
OK NOW - TO ALL FUTURE POSTS - PLEASE DON'T, LOL.
AOSP MADE THIS RECOVERY AND IS CONSTANTLY UPDATING IT
3.0.0.5 CAN BE FOUND IN THE 2.3 GINGERBREAD THREAD

Method III worked fine for me. Just follow instructions carefully, and don't forget to do "su" first (lets terminal use root privileges).
I'm curious why RomManager doesn't update the version number. I know I'm using 3.0.0.5 because of the new orange text, but RomManager still shows 2.5.0.1

[Q] flashed wrong kernal on my xoom 3.1

I am new to this posting and asking questions. I have a xoom and rooted it and updated it with 3.1 and then I went and updated it with the new rom which came out the other day. I did something studpid and didn't wait for the resolution to the sdcard not being seen after flashing the new deodex rom. I looked on the kernal manager and when I what I thought was the latest kernal I decided to flash it. I now can only get to recovery mode and I don't want to make another mistake. Can someone tell me if I can safely do a wipe data/factory reset? Will that get me back so I can flash the deodex rom back? You dev guys are really awesome and I really appreciate all of your work. Thank you for your support.

If you can get to recovery, just re-flash the rom, it includes its own kernel.
Ok I will and let you know if I am successful. Thank you
I tried to use recovery but my xoom won't see the sd card. I have adb running but really am afraid to use it without some help. Don't want to brick my xoom. I have the kernal zip but don't 1.4.4 and thought if I could flash the kernal to my xoom that would maybe fix it. I read somewhere that you shouldn't flash a zip file, so I don't know what to do. any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Please don't flash any xip file through adb! Why not go into RomManager app and look for an earlier version of recovery, maybe 3.0.2.5, and flash that. A good recovery should allow you to flash from your sdcard through clockwork mod recovery.
I can't get to the rom manager app. Am I missing something? The OS won't boot up and I only have version 4 of the clockwork recovery. What should I do?

Hi,
Did you install 4.0.1.4 or 4.0.1.5 ?
4.0.1.5 has some known issues.

Isn't it time they "officially" did a 4.0.1.6 with the charging issue fixed, this 4.0.1.4/4.0.1.5 confusion gets someone every day it seems.

Just ignore it, I guess it's RM standard procedure. Don't update it if you don't want to have the buggy 4.0.1.5 version. Mine is 1.4 but RM still says it's 1.5.
They cant release a updated version because they dont even know why the hell people are finding one to work and not the other, while others find the converse to be true.
.4 charged my phone, but with no LED lit and I had to do a battery pull to restart the phone. Booo...
.5 works, 100% for me. Just like you would expect the phone to work. This is true for some, and false for others. No one has a clue why, so they cant fix anything yet. They are too caught up in ROMs rather than basics. If you mention it, they breath fire down your neck and call you a heritic. They then scold you for not bowing down and kissing @ss of the developers. Funny thing is, the developers never say how they feel, its the OTHERS that jump in the way and flame you until a MOD comes to put the fire out with a locked thread. Some forum, huh?

This is NOT true for everyone. The truth is, is that MORE THAN LIKELY one or the other version will be the one for your phone, but NOT both.
The true way to know is to attempt to charge a battery with enough charge left to boot up your phone in the event you chose the WRONG one for your phone's special needs.
Turn off phone, no fastboot. Charge phone for 30mins or so. Try to turn the phone back on and see if your battery % went up. If not, try the other version.

Whats wrong with ROM manager? I am asking as a "noob" because to me, it looks superb. Although, I just have used it to get CWM .5 (which works 100% for my phone) as well as to backup my current ROM and fix permissions.
Is there something that us "noobs" should know about it?

I prefer the older way of doing things manually . Justed wanted to try out RM as everyone is going ga ga over it.
ROM Manager does not recognize this as an "official" alternate recovery, but you can flash it using this workaround.

1. Open Superuser and "Forget" ROM Manager.
2. Open ROM Manager, and Flash ClockworkMod Recovery.
3. After it downloads, it'll ask for superuser. Uncheck "Remember," and Deny superuser access.
4. Go to /sdcard/clockworkmod/download/download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/, and rename the file that just downloaded to [whateverItIs].img.real. (The next step will be easier if you copy the filename first.)
5. Copy the 4.0.1.4 to this location & rename it to whatever the new ROM Manager download was called.
6. Open ROM Manager, and Flash ClockworkMod Recovery again.
7. This time, Allow superuser.

[Q] recovery v5.0.0.8 for the Sensation link not working

Hi there,
I am working through the Guide to Unlocking your Sensation and the link to recovery v5.0.0.8 for the Sensation is not working.
Is there another place I can download the file?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Lizzie.
Edit:
Looks like someone updated the MultiUpload Link. Thanks guys!
You may download it from here: http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/ Just search for ....pyramid.img and flash from fastboot.
But I suggest you to get the latest v 5.0.2.0. Works fine in every aspect.
New CWM Version?

How do I update to the new version? Will it affect the back-up files that I have already made?
Sorry if the questions seem silly.
I'm still trying to get the hang of all this!

Open up rom manager and hit the first option...it will flash to the latest CWM recovery. Your old bckups will still work.

Make sure you are connected to the internet via mobile or wifi. Then go to Rom manager. Open the app and press Flash ClockworkMod recovery and the bottom should list your old one and the phone will flash the new one automagically
now if i try unlock bootloader with htc dev method
fastboot oem get_identifier_token ---> [ERR] command errror !!!
Edit : WrongForum ....
may i ask how to flash the .img file?
I'm using the guide to S-OFF etc...
It states to use recovery v5.0.0.8.
A file called PG58IMG, I cant find this, I've S-OFF'd and I'm looking to update and then use recovery.
What's the best file? Does it need to be the Zip file?

I have uploaded CWM 5.0.2.0 here: http://www.axifile.com/en/EC384AC809
MD5: 85b5f10c9afe33fb50396bd5f54bc7de
I just flashed it on my phone and it seemed to work fine, I was on 5.0.2.0 and still am ;-)
I uploaded and downloaded it and it's the same MD5 as the one on my phone that worked.
Just rename to PG58IMG.zip boot up from scratch (Power and Vol -), vol + to flash. When it wants to reboot after flashing pop the SD-card out and rename it after booting.
I came across this, it might be abit outdated but I'm guessing it'll work fine.

I've put it into my root on my SD card, and updated it.
I'll do recovery now.

Hmm, version 5.8.0.2 Not certain what the differences are. I tend to stick with something that works until I need to change ;-)
Well you're winning, from zero to two versions to pick from now ;-))

I've flashed the ROM, just rebooted... I'm guessing the first boot will take awhile.
Will all my data be on the phone?
I guess by checking System settings etc I can see if it's worked.
....I remember how frustrated I was when I found out that there were no working links anywhere. But, maybe I just didn't know how to search.

If you're changing ROMs did you Superwipe before flashing?
If you Superwipe all data/apps on the phone will be zapped, the SD card should remain intact.

Erm, I've only gone from stock to ARHD 4.1.13 so far...
All I did was S-OFF, CWM Recovery and flash the ROM on.
I haven't done anything else yet.
All my apps and data on my SD card are fine atm.
I do want to flash an ICS ROM onto my phone, I'll be following this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
For the firmware.

Yes, that was my exact feeling. I mean if you get a brand new £250 phone, then your not going to mess around with it, are you? No. You are going to try and get the prefect amount of information and clarity so you know you won't mess up.

In the ARHD (mike's) thread there is a SuperWipe script in the downloads. Use that when changing between ROM flavours, or if recommended by the dev when changing versions. E.g., VI from 2.0.0 -> 3.0.0 required a SuperWipe.
MAKE sure you take regular Nandroid backups before/after you changing anything.

That's precisely it, I've had my Sensation for a while now and want to get the full user-experience from it. I know it is irritating for you guys to have to answer the same Q&A's over and over again, I did try reading everything but with so many answers and so many flavours it's a bit overwhelming.
I might write a guide from a noobs perspective (for noobs) on what to do...

Oh right ok, well I've been advised to change my recovery to EXT4, which I'll do tomorrow. Nandroid backups, is that when I go into HBOOT and choose Recovery? That's a good idea. So when I do go to update my ROM to ARHD 6.xxx for ICS I'll use Superwipe to clear out my app etc... So by using recovery I'll keep my app data/saves etc?
Root fail
I do evrything but when i get to bootloader he starts to read fails from sd card and then says phrasing****** and then nothing. How to root
