Source Kernel ICS - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So looking over primes development I see they have OC'd ICS are we not bugging Asus for source kernel at the level we should be or what?

Well most likely they have waited on purpose. Asus is already aware of the few bugs we have with the ICS upgrade. And most of the bugs seem to be kernel related. So once they iron out the bugs we'll get kernel source in due time.

Yep, they are probably working the bugs out of the source (or as many as they can) and will update our TF101s ad release kernel source at that time..I hope anyway..

HTC Kernel Source Released for Evo3d/Sensation/Inc 2

Hey guys,
I know we have been using mocked up kernels for the sense 3.0 shoot ports and they have for the most part been stunning. I see HTC release the source code for the kernels for numerous recent devices

Not sure if any of this could be helpful in building a more stable kernel. If it is and any of the Dev's come up with a new one and need testing, send me a PM and i will be glad to help.

The only kernel source of real use, or that we can really use at all, is the Thunderbolt kernel. Until we get a GB kernel source release, nothing great will happen.

"This is a minimalistic Thunderbolt kernel based on the HTC Desire HD source (ace-2.6.35.10), then upgraded to 2.6.35.13. It also includes some code from 2.6.36.x and 3.0rc6 (that's right you read correctly). A lot of the mods in my kernel are fairly experimental and not typically done by other kernel devs, so I would not get too upset if things don't work sometimes."
From Imoseyon's GB Sense kernel thread. I'm not really following what you're saying here.

OC Kernel

Anyone have any idea when we'll get an OC kernel for GB EP1W?
At some point after we have source code and no sooner.
Probably never. Samsung isn't going to release source code for an old build. If this new ep3 sees the light of ota, then that will be the source we get and we should see oc kernels on that.

ICS doesn't use 3.0 kernel. Why?

Why doesn't the new update from Asus uses the 3.0 kernal? aren't there a lot of enhancements with it?

The 2.6.xx kernels vs the 3.0 kernel........
2.6.39.4 is maybe one ver behind 3.0 i think
Besides all the features can be back ported to the kernel that we are using
Also we still have to wait for kernel source before we can expect anything exciting
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
its also kernel not kernal.
There aren't a lot of differences between 2.6.39 and 3.0. In fact, Linus made the Linux kernel jump to version 3 because it has 20 years now, not because it's a major release.
So I don't think it really needed as 2.6.39 works well so far
The main reason due to Asus uses the old 2.6.39 (yes old, we are at 3.3 now, with a looot of changes) is because nVidia doesn't provide updated sources for Tegra's devices
That's all

I remember reading on Wikipedia Android History that ICS is based on Kernel v3.0 as default, seems not the case with this one then?
It's not another complaint about ICS, I don't care if it is Kernel v1.0, I just need something that works

Yeah, original ICS from Google is based on newest kernel 3.0, but as i said nVidia just added ICS support to his old 2.6.39 kernel
has nvidia mentione anything about upgrading to 3.0? it seems tegra 3 does use it.

Just noticed spark is using 3.1 kernel. Interesting

[Q] ICS ROM / KERNEL ? Anything official / Information?

Hello, I have been doing some reading here as well I sit on IRC on the #skyrocket channel which is pretty quiet these days.
I am using TPC GB rom build with Da_G kernel, and so far (since november 2011) it has been solid.
I have tried alienROM for the ICS leak, but it is missing some kernel features I like, however is a decent ROM. I was wondering if there were any nice ROMs or Kernels for ICS yet, or are well all still waiting for samsung to release an official ICS build so proper kernels can be made. It has been quite awhile and are we even getting an official build for the I727R (Rogers)
I wanted to post here if that is OK because I have not been finding too many answers to what I am looking for. I am in no rush really, but wanted to start thinking about tweeking my phone. Would it be best to play with leaked builds or just wait till some official builds come out then wait and go from there. If anyone has suggestions that would be great.
Thank you for your time and comments.
Hi. All the roms you'll find here are decent and will each appeal to different people and their needs. I've found the latest SkyICS to be excellent in many ways. Try a few different ones to see what you like. Any will be better than stock GB.
As for kernels, there are a few out, but none will have all the features we like about a custom kernel until the official ICS is released because -as far as I know - the code for the kernel hasn't been released yet.
For example, we won't have overclocking until someone can tear into the official released kernel.
I am not a developer, so please, someone correct me if I'm wrong about this.

Without kernel source nothing can be done. No oc, no uv, no bln.

Thanks for the reply, I am on GB (not stock) running rom / kernel (4.3.5) just can't decide on what ICS I want to go with. So I will continue to read away

Doesn't the Cymbaline kernel have BLN now?

Yes. He posted that before the t989 source dropped. Cymbaline used fixes from that source. We also have instigatorx kernel for aosp based roms.

Working 3G kernel for TF300TG

Hi,
I just want to publish JB stock kernel for TF300TG with modem part writen by myself from zero.
I'm usind this kernel for a while and have no problems with 3G hangs, network lost stuff, etc.
ACM (AT control channel), POWER CONTROL and RAW IP NETWORK writen from zero.
Other code (RIL part and BASEBAND CHR for FW update) was not changed (bugfix only).
Installer can be found^

This is a plain stock kernel!
I hope when you share source code, developers will better support model t300tg. And I hope in the future to see a little overclocked version of the kernel. : P
Thanks again andrew_z1 for support kernel. Kernel version v3 is very stable.
Thank you for sharing. Hope this gets a working kernel for CM / AOSP based Roms as well.
Working flawlessy. It is a breathe, to find a person who supports 3g version of a tablet.
Maybe you could collaborate with other developers to widen support of TF300TG model.
Thanks a lot.

It's all depends on the developer. As for me, it would be great.

Great thanks!
I have the tf300tl LTE and im stuck with the stock kernel and the poor I/O performance
Is it possible to implement the 3G changes you announced in Untermensch kernel for example,
my dream is to have a kernel with good I/O performance and working 3g!!
thanks!
Can you please share the source code for this? With no great devs around to do stuff for the TG, it's left to each one of us to dabble a bit and see what we can do
Thanks
Do you mind if I include this in my kernel installer for CleanROM Inheritance?

Million thanks for this kernel :good:. I installed it with CleanROM Inheritance 3.4.4 on my TF300L. It works really fine with 3G. I'm not convinced about LTE, but unfortunately I do not have an LTE subscription yet. According to SpeedTest it works fine at around 10Mbps, which is the bandwidth I pay for currently.
Do you think you can make OC available in this kernel?
Does this kernel work on last cm tf300t, using a tf300tg device?

I doubt it as it is a stock kernel.
Can I use this kernel with the the stock ROM? I didn't switch to any custom ROM yet.
Edit: I guess sbdags already answered my question
