I saw that google map use RAM when he isn't launch in cm7.2.
So, is there a way to keep it killed when we don't use it ?

If you've got root access you can use Titanium Backup to freeze it. Besides that you can control data usage for individual apps with the pro version of Juice Defender.

Problem is not with data usage but with RAM. Is there another way than with Titanium backup because I can kill with settings but it start a second time.
More, I want to be able to run it when I want.

Freezing it with TiBu should do the trick.
I don't know, really. It shouldn't be starting up like that... I almost said under Accounts/Sync disable it but, that doesn't make sense. It shouldn't be there.
Have you tried uninstalling it completely... and reinstalling when necessary?

Uninstall and reinstall is too long when I need to use it.
I use Autostarts to manage what loads at startup on my phone. Works great for me.
Is there another way than autostarts like a script to mod ?

Even though the phone cones standard with almost every Google application it you can uninstall most of these application. With no root needed to free up space on the internal memory. You can not delete the games that come preliaded though.

Can you clarify your what you're saying? It doesn't make much sense.
Are you claiming you can remove all apps that ship pre-installed except the games?
And please be specific to which applications you can permanently delete and what apps you cannot. It would be much appreciated.
I'm sure he's talking about gapps. Since google put there apps on the market for easy updating. no way tmo gone make it easy to remove there bloat ware

You need to have the root access to completely remove them else you will not be able to remove them completely.

The way I understand it is that with no real root access and therefore no real write access (and therefore delete access) to /system, you cannot delete apps off of the system partition, as they will reappear after reboot. Freezing apps by Titanium simply removes them from some sort of app database so they don't appear in the app drawer and cannot start at any time, although they do remain linked to the market and remain in the data partition so as to be unfrozen at any time.
Correct if wrong. I don't see a way to delete apps at this time, and I'm wondering how the freeze will work after a reboot.

You are correct till we don't have the root access all the methods will be temp and you will see the apps coming back after a reboot. i know it sucks but this is how it is with the phones these days.
the only good thing is that these apps don't bother me because they are not bogging the phone down

That's exactly what TB does when it freezes an app. So, I suppose it works and survives a reboot?

Yes, it does. I'm a bit old school so I like to do stuff manually (unless it's super complicated of course). The best thing about this method is that you can just disable/enable packages as you please.
One thing to consider is those that did completely remove Google Goggles from their G2 had problems with OTA. Disabling/freezing apps is a way to avoid that.

100% correct. Eventhough .apk file is stored in /system/app, all the settings and data for the said app are in /data/app and data/dalvik-cache which is in fact rw.

I can confirm that removing games or whatever is permanent. Removed demo version of asphalt and peep and some tmobile stuff, it is gone and hasn't come back even after factory reset. Hope this doesn't interfere with update.
Did you do this in Settings? If so, T-Mo decided that they would allow that, so I'm sure that it wouldn't prevent from an OTA upgrade.
The free version of Titanium Back now has the option to delete apps permanently.

Is there a way to reinstall the full versions without it asking to replace a system app?
If I deleted amazon, and the demos that came with the phone with a temp root using titanium backup will I be able to receive OTA's on the future? Or on order to receive OTA's u need to be completely stock?
currently, i'm using hotmail apps and espn fc apps.
the problem is, they keep auto start by themselves, is there any way to stop that?

I havent found a way to stop the hotmail app so I just uninstalled it. Its really annoying since I dont use push notification so why should it always be running.
You can use either Autostarts and Gemini App Manager to do that.

Autostarts is the better of the two IMO. ROM Manager also has the functionality built into it.

I feel you, man. I'm also annoyed with apps that just keep running in the background no matter what I do. In my case, these are apps like Facebook and Google Maps. What I do with them, since there are instances where I actually need them to, is just freeze them using Titanium Backup and then defrost them when I want or need to use them. It's a bit cumbersome but at least I can have the best of both worlds - use of the apps when I need them and said apps not using precious resources when I don't. < via xda app>

This is exactly what I do as well. I have them on my phone (because downloading when you need them is silly), but use TB and freeze them. You don't ever see them but they are there for when you need them. Weather apps, FB, Poweramp, etc. They are always running stealing RAM and battery.

A tip for both of you guys, if you don't know:
You can create a widget with Titanium Backup, select Titanium Backup (Actions), Action, scroll up a bit and select Freeze/Defrost/Launch an app. Select the app and choose Facebook or any other app you want to freeze.
What will this do? When you click the 1x1 widget, it will defrost the app and automagically launch it. When you exit and click it again, it will freeze the app. Reclicking it will defrost and launch and so on. Makes it much less cumbersome.

WIth CM10 I can completely kill facebook and google maps by long pressing the back button. They dont automatically restart like they would if you just force stop them.

That's the same as going in the app details and Force stopping the app.
Doesn't stop Maps from restarting if you have location services enabled of just prefetcherservice feeling like it should be prefetching.

Hi all. Quick question; searched and didn't find a response. So...
There are a few Google apps I'd really like to lose. Namely Play Books, Play Movies/TV, Play Newstand, and Play Games. I'm never going to use them, so I'd just as soon uninstall them. My question is can I uninstall these through Titanium Backup or are they crucial system apps that I should just leave alone and learn to live with?

You can deactivate them in settings -> apps. You will not gain more storage, but the apps will disappear. They can be enabled again of course

I freeze every one of those apps with Titanium backup every time I install gaaps or return to stock. No issues with them frozen on N5 at all.

Actually, all deactivating them in Apps does is uninstall the updates. They're still there.

The advantage in freezing them is you retain the ability to take OTA updates without reflashing system.

Titanium Backup is worth the price. The UI is terrible. Still can't find a replacement I'm happy with.

I would think most people who are active on these threads chose a nexus for ease of changing ROMS. I would lose my mind doing that without the pro version of TiBu. Have it anyway so used it. Also, freeze is nice because I can quickly thaw out a memory hog program, use it as I need to and then quickly refreeze it with all data in tact.

Of course it is - bought it years ago.
You can delete any app with the full version of Titanium Backup.
But I'm pretty sure that you can disable them like I mentioned above and still receive OTA's Am I wrong?
After I saw that the data generated by the MotoCare app was very large, I decided to clear this data (through settings>apps).
In Motorola Privacy settings I have disabled MotoCare.
Two weeks have passed now and again my MotoCare data has grown substantial, being at 11,62Mb now.
Does anybode else also have this growing data of MotoCare?
What is this app collecting even if it is turned off?
I completely disabled motocare app and stuff, you can do the same in easy way. For me it's an unuseful service and i completely disabled. You need it?
This is unfortunatelly one of the Moto apps that I can not disable.
Other apps I disabled but for this one the button is grayed out.

Are you rooted?
If yes - you can use Unninstaller Pro. It has "Freeze" function per app.
App won`t work, but it won`t be uninstalled either and you can unfreeze it in any moment.

Since the freeze option is only available in the pro version of Titanium, I tried another app.
App Quarantaine is doing the job very well so far.
I also read something about Greenify, is this recommended above the others?

Is it bad manners to ask which of the system apps in a custom ROM can be safely uninstalled? I don't want to insult anyone that put in hours and hours of work to make our lives better, But i don't see the need for Chrome and Internet, to list an example.

no its not.. but there are some bad implication for removing some apps.. make sure you know which system app can be removed safely and what are not.

use titanium backup or similar app.
best to make a backup of the apps first, then if you change your mind or have an issue, you can put it back.
titanium can also freeze apps, witch is basically the same as deleting but not really gone.
