Lapdock pro 500. - Motorola Atrix 2

I just picked one up on eBay for 200$ shipped. Just keeping you guys posted on some good deals! Pick one up!!!

These were $150 a few weeks ago from Verizon, ebay prices will be low due to flood. I got mine today.

BTW Mirror mode doesnt work with this, only webtop mode. The phone will give you the " Unsupported Device - This device is not yet optimized to work with this Lapdock".
I bought this thinking mirror mode would work, I will be returning and just sticking with the original Atrix lapdock.
---------- Post added at 10:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:34 AM ----------
Also, the original Atrix lapdock is more compatible with the Atrix 2 then the 500, USB flash cards dont work with A2 and the 500.

This is incorrect. Mirror mode works.for me....Mine give me the unsupported error. But USB mass storage is fine. Also with the webtop Linux install it's even better. I can even compile and.upload my code to my arduino off of this! I have no issues. Maybe yours is.bad?

Don't use/have a lapdock but +1 for Arduino! Sorry kinda offtopic.
@Shanghei, what do you mean by "don't work"? Error messages, etc?

When you buy a lapdock you are required to purchase a second data plan correct?

No. It will tell you.to upgrade to.a tethering plan if you don't have wifi. It will not.force you into.it.

Laptop Dock

Sorry Wrong Forum!
Mods please move the Accessories Forum. Thanks
So does anyone have the Laptop Dock for their Atrix 2?
It's on Sale now for $50 (Laptop Dock)
My Question is do you have to have a tethering plan to use the Laptop dock?
Thanks,
Coldheat1906
It states that a Data Pro 4GB plan is required. That is a deal and I would love to jump all over it but I can't afford to lose my unlimited data plan because AT&T thinks that its tethering which is BS.
Maybe someone has one that is on AT&T also will chime in?
Isn't it for Atrix 4G? That's what it says.
it can be easily made to work with the A2 all you have to do is swap the HDMI and USB terminals around on the dock
HA! Then it looks like a deal
It's a deal, but I don't want to pay for Tethering......
Wish I was like some that unlimited data...... :-(

You're right about that and I've done been warned once about the tethering on my OG ATRIX so I'm not about to chance losing my unlimited plan....
That laptop dock is for the original atrix 4g. And the connectors are fliped on the original atrix. However I can confirm that the original laptop dock does work on the atrix 2. You have take apart the dock though (took me about 15 minutes.) Ive been using it since the atrix 2 has been out.

OK I have a huge question? Will I lose my unlimited plan using the lapdock since AT&T considers using it tethering? Which BTW I think is absurd not being able to use the accessories that oared available. No other carriers are doing this?

Well Im an Att employee so no I don't.
You do need that tethering plan though otherwise they may threaten to remove your unlimited one.
However I believe that in the atrix 4g forum (the original atrix) some one had found away around this...a while back.
Im not sure but there might have been a work around by using custom roms (which we so desperately need lol)

HTC Media Link For Sale - Used once for 15 minutes

My brother bought it when he was in Pennsylvania on his way home. He used once yesterday at our house. He didn't care too much about it so he wanted me to sell it.
It retails for $89.99 from T-Mobile.
It has everything. The Media Hub, HDMI, power adapter, USB cable, manuals, box.
Throw me offers. Don't lowball me or else I will discontinue my One S toolkit . U.S.A only and I accept PayPal. Sorry guys.
What would be your lowball figure, the one that you absolutely well not go below?

Anyone know if this will work with a receiver HDMI input vs direct to the HDMI on the TV? My setup has all my electronics in another room and I would love to hook this up via HDMI to my receiver and be able to "switch" to it as needed.
thanks...

ICS & Lapdock 500 functionality

I was wondering if ICS has enabled full use of the Lapdock 500 (i.e. webcam, ethernet, etc.). Has anyone tried & what were the results?
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
I have one and its amazing. Depending on your provider, if you are not rooted, you will need a data plan to support data with that lap dock. I am running Linux on my webtop partition and everything works great.
I even program/compile my arduino on it.

What restrictions you would face if you were rooted using this lapdock? I have the fist lapdock mod to fit my A2 running ICS rooted & they work great together, now wondering about a lapdock 500.
Same Question
I have an unrooted Atrix2 that I'm hoping will soon have ICS 4.04 on it. I have an older Atrix 4g Lapdock that I modded for my Atrix 2 and it works okay.. But I'm leaning toward either a newer Lapdock 100 or 500.. My only question is will the additional features (mainly the Camera) on the 500 work with Atrix 2 after my ICS upgrade? If not I don't really see a reason to buy it just for the bigger screen. Any help would be great!!

Ben Mitchell

Thinking of buying a used Atrix2, what should I do first?

Seems to be the best value in used GSM phones. $95 for a 9/10. I'll probably put it on AirVoice for $10/month. I don't like custom roms because something is always broken. ICS would be fine. But I do need to root so I can run DroidWall since I'll only have ~100MBs/month.
My plan is::
*Update to factory ICS, if it isn't already (eBay refurb seller)
*Use new_root_unroot_4.0.4_ics to root
*Side load Atrix2Bootstrap to make backups
Or is Boot Menu Manager better? I don't think I'll be using its features.
Go for it.. And you should consider jb leak 3.. Its an official Rom.. Kinda.. Stable and better than ics.

The thing that would make BMM better in your case is that it is accessible on boot. Multi-booting is a feature but not a requirement. The best root method that I have found is linked the the op of this thread:

Ha! We must've been typing at the same time. It is important to note, though, that the jb "leaks" aren't compatible with all versions of the Atrix 2. ESPECIALLY the AT&T models.

Yeah, they are mostly unlocked ATT on eBay in the US, MB865. Tho locked will work on AirVoice and H2O.
I really hate when something doesn't work. I was using the official CM 7.2 on my old Incredible 1 and the FM didn't work Guess I'll go with the BMM, especially since I hear it is trouble to install once you have tried the other. Just wanted to make sure that old advice about never updating to the official ICS no longer applies.
Edit: Got my phone, $90. Win7 installed the latest driver so no need for that. One-click rooting worked.

HDMI Out ... ??

I admit I didnt search for too long..
But does the V10 support Video Out? Either with an mHL Adaptor or HDMI or any other means? My previous device used mHL and it worked great.
Any info would be great.

I've also been searching for this answer. MHL doesn't work. Slimportconnect just added the V10 to the list, so it should work. However there are many different brands, most with spotty reviews. Would love to hear from someone who has had success with the V10 specifically and with what brand.

I've used right now my SlimPort that worked with my historical LG G2.
worked fine, charging my phone, audio and video through HDMI.

I just bought this SlimPort adapter from Analogix. It's a new model, comes with a remote and explicitly supports 4K. It's called the Nano.Console. http://www.nanoconsole.com It's just coming off of an Indiegogo campaign (still sold through Indiegogo for now). Looks very promising. Compatible with the LG V10. I'm waiting to receive the unit (ordered yesterday).

Will do. Shipping is a bit slow. It's shipping from California and I'm in Arizona. Their customer service says they ship within 2 weeks. It should ship some time this week, since I bought it on the 19th.
Unsure whether anyone wants another report on this, but I'm able to confirm success with this. Officially the standard is "MyDP", but they're better known as "Slimport". Thankfully the adapters aren't too expensive, such as this one for $15: Unitek (NewEgg)
It works fine without power (micro-USB) plugged in. With power plugged in it can in fact charge mine. Problem is you really need a USB cable with thick wires, otherwise there is barely enough power to keep the V10 at its existing power level. Either way I can confirm video out is useable on an LG V10.
Apparently if you've got a device with USB-C you can use video out and at the same time have a computer talking to your phone via `adb`. Sigh, one more extra feature people who could wait a year got.
Hmm, I've noticed more recently the device has been acting a bit flaky. Not a super big deal, but enough to be an annoyance. Might be it doesn't like being powered on so long or could be it is only good enough to last 3-6 months.
