I was wondering if ICS has enabled full use of the Lapdock 500 (i.e. webcam, ethernet, etc.). Has anyone tried & what were the results?

I have one and its amazing. Depending on your provider, if you are not rooted, you will need a data plan to support data with that lap dock. I am running Linux on my webtop partition and everything works great.
I even program/compile my arduino on it.

What restrictions you would face if you were rooted using this lapdock? I have the fist lapdock mod to fit my A2 running ICS rooted & they work great together, now wondering about a lapdock 500.
Same Question
I have an unrooted Atrix2 that I'm hoping will soon have ICS 4.04 on it. I have an older Atrix 4g Lapdock that I modded for my Atrix 2 and it works okay.. But I'm leaning toward either a newer Lapdock 100 or 500.. My only question is will the additional features (mainly the Camera) on the 500 work with Atrix 2 after my ICS upgrade? If not I don't really see a reason to buy it just for the bigger screen. Any help would be great!!

Ben Mitchell

So does anyone have the Laptop Dock for their Atrix 2?
It's on Sale now for $50 (Laptop Dock)
My Question is do you have to have a tethering plan to use the Laptop dock?
Thanks,
Coldheat1906
It states that a Data Pro 4GB plan is required. That is a deal and I would love to jump all over it but I can't afford to lose my unlimited data plan because AT&T thinks that its tethering which is BS.
Maybe someone has one that is on AT&T also will chime in?
Isn't it for Atrix 4G? That's what it says.
it can be easily made to work with the A2 all you have to do is swap the HDMI and USB terminals around on the dock
HA! Then it looks like a deal
It's a deal, but I don't want to pay for Tethering......
Wish I was like some that unlimited data...... :-(

You're right about that and I've done been warned once about the tethering on my OG ATRIX so I'm not about to chance losing my unlimited plan....
That laptop dock is for the original atrix 4g. And the connectors are fliped on the original atrix. However I can confirm that the original laptop dock does work on the atrix 2. You have take apart the dock though (took me about 15 minutes.) Ive been using it since the atrix 2 has been out.

OK I have a huge question? Will I lose my unlimited plan using the lapdock since AT&T considers using it tethering? Which BTW I think is absurd not being able to use the accessories that oared available. No other carriers are doing this?

Well Im an Att employee so no I don't.
You do need that tethering plan though otherwise they may threaten to remove your unlimited one.
However I believe that in the atrix 4g forum (the original atrix) some one had found away around this...a while back.
Im not sure but there might have been a work around by using custom roms (which we so desperately need lol)

Does anybody know where I can get cm7 for thunderbolt? I do not see it list of htc devices under cyanogenmod site. Just got the bolt at bestbuy. I traded my dinc2 for this. I paid $2.99 for the tbolt. They gave me $97.00 for mine, the bolt was $99.99. Not a bad deal. I like the bolt since I can talk and surf at the sametime.

As of right now the T-Bolt is not officially supported by Cyanogen and what we have know is just a port that a 3rd party made for us, but don't worry! There is news that CM9 should not have problems with the T-Bolt / VZW 4G LTE devices, and it has been confirmed that they are working on CM9 for the T-Bolt (That will be officially supported by them, which then will give us nightly's).

Good news indeed. Always loved AOSP roms for the lean efficiency.
Noob question, is CM9 an ICS build? If so, I hear ICS has had a lot of UI improvements. Might make me think twice about sense roms.

I currently have an atrix 4g, OG, and I've become real interested in the skyrocket. It has really awesome specs. Do you guys like your phone? I'm going to pick up a skyrocket in a few weeks and would like to know what you guys think of the phone. Do you have a good dev community and support?

Forgot to mention that we can flash roms for the T-Mobile galaxy s2 since they are so similar. And a lot of their devs usually bring some of their stuff to our phone blindly developing it so we really have a lot of developers.

I LOVE this phone. No problems. Seriously, it's a great piece of hardware. I think by time my contract comes up next year, it still will feel fresh.
Add me to the list of those who recently "upgraded" from Moto Atrix to S2SR. Atrix was a good phone, but it had a serious restart/reboot problem no matter if I was on a call, texting, listening to music or watching movies/videos. I eventually sold it a month or two ago for a used SR with Otterbox Defender case. Cost of SR - profit from Atrix = $110 out of pocket. I'd say that was worth it...haha!
Anyway, for the S2SR, my only complaint is how often I lose bluetooth and wi-fi (at home) or 4G for data. I'm constantly re-connecting to my headset or checking the "Use Packet Data" box in Mobile Network. I keep a Settings shortcut on my home screen because I lose connection daily...gets annoying.
So do you guys use ODIN frequently? What is a modem? Where does unlocking the boot loader come into place? For the atrix, ODIN is RSD and we usually never use it, its either fast boot or cwm. and we just have kernals and roms and basebands when needed. Sorry for all the questions. I don't want to brick it when I get it

OK, so I currently have a wifi aokp ics HTC flyer, iPod touch 3rd Gen jailbroken , hp touchpad dual booted with android and web os, and Samsung fascinate on miui 4 used only with wifi and has no plan of any kind, I bypassed activation. As you can see, I have a large collection of devices but do not have any cellular plans on them at all (my phone is a basic keyboard phone and I can't afford to pay 360 dollar a year data plan upgrade with Verizon, plus I don't want to worry about going over on data and being charged more). That being said, I want to try wp7 but don't know which devices I can use without a plan of any kind and just on wifi. Could someone clarify for me what my options are, if there are any, I have Googled it for a while without luck. Any help is appreciated, and thanks in advance! just a note though, I asked specifically about the HTC arrive and dell venue pro before because of the keyboard, but they didn't seem confident in their own forums. Again, thanks!

I'm not talking about putting it on Verizon, I just said that was my carrier for my keyboard phone, no wishes to replace it. I just want to try wp7 in general and use it not as a phone but WIFI ONLY, like an iPod touch. I want no plan of any kind. This is possible on some androids, I've done it on the fascinate. So I just wanted to know my options.

Are you sure? If that's true, how do you bypass the cellular activation screen and go on with using wp7? There was a method to it with the fascinate, and you could simply hit the home button once on a custom from. Is this the case for wp7 too? Or are any unlock codes needed to do this? If there is a custom rom of wp7 for a phone, is it safe to assume it can be used without a plan of any kind?

Correction: the phone ships with an unlockable bootloader. You have to use Motorola tool to unlock it and agree to void your warranty.
