My friend has the Wildfire, which is nice, but 3.2" screen sucks. I need to get him a good phone. So I'm going to buy him one, but which is a good phone to start with and easy to port. I saw the sprint nexus and it looked a little difficult. The evo was a little easier. But im open to any carrier or phone, anyone have good experiences?
I am also interested in porting my phone to metro... I have TMobile gs2 not sure its possible since I have sim tech.

It won't be possible with GSM devices. Only CDMA can be flashed to Metro. Try Simple mobile if you want GSM

Should I just get a Nexus S 4G?

Please, i need a new phone, but i dont have any money right now! I would love a One X! Thanks ( i reallllllyyyy like the black one, but i will gladly take a white)
This is not the place to do it. I'm pretty sure you're violating xda rules.

You can try the new market place to purchase or sell phones. It should be presented on the front page of the forums. Swappa.com

Sorry, not buying/selling.trading on XDA Forums.
Try swappa.com with your XDA login.
I am just wondering since my sister has the old iPhone contract with AT&T which gives her unlimited data so long as she is using an iPhone.
That's pretty much the only thing holding her back from switching to Android.

probably not

If you have a rooted android device you can edit the build.prop to change the phone's build number etc.. But that's not going to work I think with an iPhone because it isn't recognized and you might brick your phone. So I guess she is stuck with her iPhone.
Im myself are not sure why they are doing this. The ubuntu edge doesnt really seem practical. I mean, who needs two lte antennas in their phone?

It's an interesting experiment, but honestly I don't know if it's gonna meet success. I mean, what if people buy it just for the 4 GB of RAM and then run Android?

I believe the two antennas were for use on a carrier of your choice, since it comes without contract (even international).
Impractical probably for most. Ever since I got an android device (an archos) many years back I kinda wanted to be able to have a functional desktop experience. Having a note ii now I can basically already do that, whether im using a tablet multiwindow mod or the linuxonandroid app. That being said, there seems to be enough who want that kind of functionality. Would be even cooler to see somethin like that with a keyboard dock. Old idea that was tried on other phones.
I'd go as far as to say this is nothing like what's been done before.
I love it, would definitely buy it if it was coming out sooner, but I need a new phone now, not in 2014.
Never figured the price to be all that steep either, you 'muricans have gotten too used to carrier-subsidized stuff
Here in Norway an $800 price tag is normal for such a badass...

It's an Ubuntu touch phone that has the option to boot into android, with an android app compatibility layer for Ubuntu coming soon so you can still use your favorite apps when using u-touch. It also has a desktop mode where you can hook it up to a monitor and enjoy the full desktop version of Ubuntu.
The desktop mode is the reason for the specs, so it's literally a computer in your pocket. Thanks to so many ARM distributions out there, almost every single piece of software in the main Ubuntu repositories has been ported to ARM. Overall, for $800 you get an Android phone, and a desktop computer that fits in your pocket.

Soo true. Thays really what drew me. Im mean it really sounds like a high quality device and it wouod have to be to meet for both a high end android device and a very functional desktop computer. I can even imagine it being more, having the ability to be a laptop too.
I just read only people who support the development donation 775 will get the phone its not being publicly sold or distributed also the 2 antenna deal is one lte antenna is for the US the other is for functionality in EU if y'all want I'll link the article from indegogo which is the current most updated article.
Edit: ok I apologize and correct my last statement it's not on indegogo site that's the place this article refers to if you want to donate and back this project to get one... Here's the article

Whether or not you like Ubuntu, you should hope that this 'experiment' exceed, doing so would surely drive something positive towards the mobile phone scene.
But will it get the newest android versions when they release like the nexus devices, or will it just update android in the same way as, say Sony does? That's probably the qyestion holding me back a little.

It is based on CM so it will be fast with aNDROID-Updates!
this phone wouldn't be commercially successful
At the beginning I thought the campaign is gonna be a huge success.. but looking at it now.. seems like a far cry from being successful. But would be cool to see a device that can dual boot android & ubuntu though:fingers-crossed:..
What do I think? Neat idea, not so great on the execution. The Android world is full of great-but-not-quite-there ideas, and this is a good one -- unfortunately the timing just isn't right.
Dual-booting is just way beyond the scope of what the average person needs or wants right now, in my opinion. Could it be useful? Definitely, if implemented and executed correctly. Maybe this is one of those product categories people don't know they want until they have it?

My question is this I have a company iPhone I'm a Verizon network I would like to take the SIM card from the company iPhone and use it in a droid based phone. Is this possible?

As long as they both have sim cards and are verizon phones it should work.
I'm using a Apple Iphone 5, but I prefer Sony Z1 Honami
