Hi,
I am independent Android game designer and developer and few weeks ago I released my first game project Frenzy Fugu Fish after 6 months of fulltime effort. Game was already reviewed on few sites and got 4.5/5, 10/10 and similar ratings (so I am pretty proud). I would be happy to get feedback on this forum from gameplay and also from designer/developer point of view.
http://market.android.com/details?id=com.frenzyfugu.frenzyfugu
Screenshots are below.
Frenzy Fugu is casual fish game with 45 levels in 3 sets, each set with unique graphics design of the environment and introducing new game elements. Game will receive new set of 15 levels each month.
By tilting the phone you control Fugu, the Puffer Fish and have to collect all pearls in the level within a given time limit. If you finish the level below the time limit, you get one star for each 20 seconds (up to 3 stars). Just finishing the level is not complicated, challenge is to finish it and get 3 stars.
Over the time you will meet various enemies and obstacles. There are various fish, stone fish, jellyfish, anemones, starfish, bubbles etc. Some are just obstacles some will try to eat you. In some levels you can collect pufferpoison powerup to inflate as all puffer fish do and are invincible for short period of time and even can eat smaller fish. First few levels are very easy ones to get used to control the fish and principles of the game.

The game is free with placed ads. The ads are not shown during the gameplay.
Game was developed using great free framework Andengine, I recommend it to everyone. Currently Zynga is using it for new projects.

Just played for 20 min or so...
Good and Fyn game!

Great, I hope you downloaded version 1.0.3 I released this evening. There are small "clocks" on pearls to make the gameplay more tactical
Here is short gameplay video created by reviewer. I need to create my own next week, as camera cannot be used for this because of tilting the phone, I have to use video cable to HW recorder.

Nice work
Wow the graphics looks incredible! I managed to get to level 10 in first levels and level 5 in next set )) Is there any way how to publish my score to net, like Openfeint or similar?
I would also suggest to improve help a bit, for example slowly introduce info on new game elements like Angry Birds did with introducing their birds.
Apart from that, perfect game, congratz.
T.
Thanks, nothing is good for my ego than liking my game )))
Yes, I am planning to add there OpenFeint or ScoreLop or other service, makes sense, but I was focusing now on finishing last updates to gameplay based on user feedback.
Hmm, HELP. Yes, maybe you are right, there is only one helpscreen that shows up before playing first level and then only after you click the icon Help. Need to think about it, as you can choose to play different sets of levels since beginning. I got feedback that most of the users just skip the initial help screen and go directly for game. Need to think about it, but thanks for feedback!
Any other end user advice? As the game is only getting the mommentum there are possible changes to gameplay
Good and Fun Game
Thx.
@fredrikk: level set 4 in progress, part of current update available on market, use standard unlock Official release in 2 weeks. Version for reviews with unlocked levels available too, use standard link, 01_004_unlocked.

Here is one bug
When I switched off sound and vibration almost at the same time the sound did not stop and it was not possible to switch it off even after I ended the app. It happened to me only once and when I did tapped sound and vibration immediately one after another.
This happened to me with few more games like Where is my water and one other (do not remember which one).
So not a big problem, but you should know about it.
T.
Yeah, thanks. I am aware of that bug but I am not able to resolve it. It happens occassionaly, the game is not able to switch off sound. Really rare, still I hope to find a solution. Happens to me with more games too. Thanks again for report.
What framework was used for development? Graphics is really cool I like the waterworld. I working on small game too, decided to go with Andengine.
cool game
cool game, playing it since yesterday, perfekt graphic
Yup, AndEngine. Pretty cool framework, without that one, it would far harder to make a game. It is pretty stable too. I used older version, from march/april 2011, now there is out GLES2, need to play with that one a bit to get familiar with. Probably new game will be done with GLES2.
i hope i will make such game someday, will check the andegine
Ragequit because the pearls kept closing.
10/10
Sent from my Optimus 2X using Tapatalk
Oh my ))
Imagine now, that the afternoon before first release I finished all 45 levels twice for 3 stars all of them, just to proper test the game But of course, after the 6 months of development I had the perfect experience in controlling the fish
But with the small clock on pearls in latest release I think it should be far easier.
10/10? Rating?
Nice one
its a nice one u got here...
really cool graphics....
Finished all levels. But by far not for 3 stars, som levels are damn haaaaaaard! Addictive, but maybe I am too old for that, my daughter beats me in most levels :-D
Congrats with release! Game looks very polished and works great on milestone 2.
not sure why its not installedon mk16I

Orbox C is a great puzzle game with simple and addicting concept.
It is the third of the orbox sliding-block puzzle games. Like it’s ancestors this game requires you to navigate the orbox through each puzzle. When you push orbox to any of 4 directions (left, right,up,down) it will keep move until it hits the wall. So you have to think your way to complete the missions.
The game has variety of missions. Find exit, blow all the bombs, activate sensors, collect stars, break ice, and any mix between of these.
It is a fun coffee break game, you will not have to over-think yourselves, the various missions and the different objectives are what will make you keep playing.
The levels are well designed and it brings good mind satisfaction when solving them. Such a mental reward.
Orbox C has somewhat a sci-fi style powered by catchy electronic music. Shiny animations please the eye.
Game has plenty of levels, over 100. Later on it will become pretty challenging and will require a logic thinking instead of trial-an-error.
Orbox C is a great choice for puzzle/logic games lovers. It trains analytical ability, logical reasoning, and short-term memory.

Yes, "Quell" is same kind.
But we have some differences that makes "Orbox C" stand enough apart from Quell series.
Also I can ensure you that author(Arseniy Shkljaev) come up with idea by himself very long ago(somewhere in 96-97).
Orbox probably made this type of game popular in 2005(tho russian version released in 2004). It was flash game and it was a hit back then. After that there appeared lot of games of this kind.

I played and finished the trial and I must say it's fun. However, on my Nexus S running jellybean, the more you move, the slower the game gets. I believe it's because of how the blue path is programmed/drawn, the longer it gets, the slower the game becomes.
I will try,thanks...:good:

Next update will add around 40-50 levels so it will be 85-95 levels total. Split levels to a packs - Easy, Average, Normal, Hard
Then with one more update all 120 levels will be available in paid version. 30 levels in each difficulty.
In the trial/free version we plan to allow play 20 levels from Easy, 15 levels from Average and 10 Levels from Normal difficulty.

Hello, good game.. let me end it just now ..
may be you can fix the OP post image , it seems to be broken (or its just me)
so i had a bit time and played through the free version in 15mins.
Will buy the full version when I'm back on a wifi, for 1$, it's definitely worth it.
But I hope there will be harder levels?^^

There will be much harder levels than you can see in free version.
We will release update soon. It will have over 95 levels, but half of them will be easy and average. The reason is feedback we god from many people. It's too hard for many people so we decided split levels into packs - Easy, Average, Normal, Hard.
I can tell for sure you will be saticfied by the difficulty of Hard pack. It is really hard!
The final version will have 120 levels total tho.
Nice game man, will also be looking to buying the full version soon.
And, hands down, massive respect for going out of your way to get it pegi rated, props.
Orbox C updated in google play :good:
I love the game - but since the latest update it runs weird on my SGS3.
Before the last update it just worked fine, now I miss some blocks, graphics seems missing, touch is not reacting properly.....
I bought the version through play store. Anyone else with problems?

Hi. After playing video games for almost 20 years now, we (a frind of mine and me) finally decided to create one by ourselves. We released the first version on google play store these days...
I hope everybody has a great time and a lot of fun with this game. For questions to technical details and other stuff i am available, of course, in this thread, or you can drop me a mail
Fly the dragon named Dracoo through the lovely 2d scenery in this casual game. Roast as many enemies as possible with your fiery breath. But watch out, they will try to harm you.

I would love to read your feedback on the overall user experience. There is still some time left for us to include the customers voice in the full version.

The game runs really smooth with no problems so far for me. Its really challenging but that might be because im so bad at games xD cute graphics as well may I suggest different 'types' of dragons or fireballs in the future?

I'm glad everything worked smoothly. We thought about different power ups with different effects and ammo (ice ball for example). We plan to deliver new levelpacks through updates later this year. We would include these new powerups there. Thanks for this suggestion. I will discuss it with my partner, but it seems logical to me. It would enhance the depth of the level design
Is the game too hard? Some people stated by now that it is a little too challenging. They haven't faced the first boss yet. He will be hard work to beat
When I was designing the levels, I had games like rayman origins or the gameboy classic parodius in mind. This games are very challenging too. I hoped, our levels can be beaten with less than 5 trys per level from the average casual player. To target all 3 eggs per level is very challenging indeed.
What is your opinion? Should we aim a little lower?
Maybe have a selection of 'easy', 'normal', and 'hard' levels?
COOL!!!
funny, cool !!
Awesome!, It kinda remind me space impact
looks soo cartoon pretty
Reminds me of Rayman Legends style.. EXCELLENT WORK!
I gotta hand it to you, the game got me hooked. Over and over again trying to get a full 3 star. Hahaha and I agree, it is challenging but that's what I find to be the charm here. When playing, you get this feeling that it's not that hard but everytime I failed I always go; "ugh, just a little more" or " damn, curse that dead end" lol but I always came back for more. Thanks

Thank you very much. It is fun to make a game. But it is even more fun when someone actually is playing it. :fingers-crossed:
At the moment, we are drawing and designing the 3rd levelpack: Terror Forest We're going to put 3 free levels in the Lite version, of course. The full version will have 45 Levels (and we will enhance the gametime with additional levelpacks via updates). And the full version will be ad-free. I hate the fact that we had to put Ads in the lite version, sorry for that. But, at least the GameScreen itself and the TitleScreen remains ad-free. I would love to read more feedback from you.
I hope everyone has a great time with our game. And don't be shy: Please rate Dracoo Lite in the Google Play Store. :good: :good: :good: :good: :good:

Can you give to us developers a overview of the geral game architecture ?
Do you use a SurfaceView in the game ? How you do it so smoothly ?

Thank you. I use the LibGdx framework for creating the game. They supply everything you need, from box2d physics simulations to application lifecycle handling. But, compared to cocos2d, it is more technical and you have to do more things by yourself. When it comes to performance and asset management, I bet I have done some things wrong (this was my first android app and my first game). But with every update, it becomes better . I wrote a small "history of prototypes" on our homepage a little while ago, where you can see the milestones we achieved with each version. But I stopped updating some versions ago, so the latest version of the game is not there. To run the game in your browser, you need the webGl plugin.
We plan to make some development and design-tutorials in the future (2-3 moth from now). Frankly, since we have dayjobs too, it is a matter of time. But I hope we find the time to walk you throw the tricky parts of game development. If you like to keep track, simply like our facebook page or check this forum post in the libGdx forum.
Why is it so smooth? Hm. Maybe because I went down an endless road, trying to tweak the performance. I came up with some pretty memory-saving ideas how to build the parallax. More on that topic will be covered in a seperate tutorial.
When you think now: Hey, why is it not smooth on my device? That is probably because of the HD graphics we used. Not every phone can handle this big graphics and animations without problems. Especially phones with 320x480 screens. But we are working on that.
Surface view: My understanding ist that LibGdx uses a GlSurfaceView under the hood, but usually you do not get in touch with that.
cool !
good work bro...
congratulations !!!
its ok to play

Players are required to grow a friend for the character of Peekaboo, a tiny sprite living in the grass and feeding on pure water. Players guide a water droplet through a host of obstacles to the right place. Once the water drops close enough to the target, a new friend will grow.
The game is based on the laws of physics: the water droplet evaporates in contact with a hot obstacle, and steam rises up. It changes state again once it runs into a cold barrier, drops down or freezes, and so on.
You can build your own levels.

That is right, at first version was no limit to send levels. But most of players build and upload completely unusable levels. In version 1.0.4 we add some limitations 10000 game points, so players must know basic game principles first.
It was helpful, just experienced players submit their levels now.
I'm glad that you like the game.
Your game is tricky. For first look it seems to be easy, but advanced levels are challenging.
Good work. Like the game.

I see, that is good idea. Was it difficult to implement online storage for the levels and do you use some service provider or your own server?
I saw some providers for score tables (even Google start his own). But for store data (e.g. levels) I didn't find anything.
This could be usefull for my own application. Thanks.

After some searching for existing services during preparing our game (year ago), we decide to build our own server application to maintain users, levels and rates. Levels created by players are signed, so only author can change them. This all thing are too complex to use some universal service. But we could have a performance problem if there will be too many concurent players. During performance tests we were able to deal with approximately 10 players per second.
So if you plan use your own server, you have to decide performance vs. custom implementation.
Good luck with your app.
Hi fivephones, I finished free packages of the game and most of online levels. I have to say again, I like the game.

Hi, you have to try it first . It's an honor for me if you compare One More Drop to this game. I do not have iPhone, but according info on iTunes "Candy Pot" using one object "candy" to jump into a pot.
In One More Drop the water droplet contains 25 parts and keeping them togeather by tilting phone and guide them to the target is the goal. Of course there are some similiar elements, it's a puzzle game ).
Thank you very much for the comment.
After all free levels (during last days) I have to say, tilting waterdrop is a FUN . Level builder is working good, sometimes overlaping elements are confusing. Maybe you can improve "button-flow" for deleting all elements (it was not clear for me first time).
Thanks for the game and good luck.
OK, we will improve Level Builder a little bit in next release. Thanks for sharing your levels with other players.

Save the Comet apparently is not a clone of other game and tries to bring something new to market. We hope you like it!
Sincerely,
MogaMecha Team

Hmm Great to hear that! Except the problems of course
About the planet problem. I may have a couple of questions to solve it. We will try to look into that ASAP.
Have you used the recently implemented Quick Restart or One Shot buttons that appear while Camera is zooming in to the Comet when you die? (Example below)
About the Google Play i suspect it might be related to some kind of connection issue. But i am not quite sure since we have not seen this problem before. But we will definitely look into it.
Pointing the obvious but if you haven't done yet, make sure you have the latest version of Save The Comet.
Also it would be great if you could tell around about the game We need every help we can get

Hello, Nidre!
About the problem: I used quick restart button at that time. And I proceed to play the game. The bug there was only once in the whole time while I was playing.
The game is really cool! :cyclops:

Thanks tho you we were able reproduce and solve this issue. You will see it fixed in the next patch
We are planning even better Customizations and brand new features that we could not make ready before release! (More Geeky stuff )
That would be great if you could share us around We really need every single download in those days!
We have just released a major update!
Lot's of polishing involved in this update!
Here take a look at it : http://blog.savethecomet.com/post/89778428027/polishing-the-comet
Frustrated? No More!
Ok Everyone!
We knew that you have frustrated by a couple of things. This patch will aim to solve them as much as possible. (ETA Tomorrow)
So let us begin the countdown!
Frustration Number 3!
Door animations are too slow. Restarting takes too long!
- Door animation is now a lot more faster. Also you will be able to directly restart into the game in a future patch
Frustration Number 2!
Game asks for rating all the time!
- This was a bug. And now you also have chance to hide this dialog for good.
…Aaaaaaand, Frustration Number 1!
Game asks to login to google everytime i start it!
- We will only ask the first time you have opened the game. After that you are completely free of Google if you want to
Headstart just got Better!
It has been a wonderfully tiring week for all our team. Except Oz, he was on vocation drinking margarita and dancing under sun shine!
Anyways, we have made some great changes around the galaxy.
First and biggest of them all is that we have upgraded the HeadStart.
Before
> You could use it to reach level 2 if you had 2500 Stardusts.
Now
> Headstart now has 3 different levels.
> To unlock a new level of headstart you should reach the corresponding level in the game. For example to unlock yellow Headstart which takes you to the Soul Nebula, you have to reach the Soul Nebula at least once.
> After unlocking more than a single level; which level you can use and how much you are are going to pay will be determined a very small mini-game.
Not interesting changes;
> We have killed a lot of bugs recently. Yes we are horrible people.
> Pickups now increase you combo.
Awesome games no problems
also its featured on android authority !

Nice game! I think overall it is great and I was actually surprised that the models are sharp on my Note 3(I thought the edges of the models would be jaggedy because that is how they look like in the pictures). Keep up the good work!
Thanks I spend alot of time polishing and optimising the game

Yes I just reached one actually lol. make individual levels with those at the end and it makes you feel more accomplished plus you don't have to repetitively replay the same parts. And upgradeable ships! Dual weapons and such. I'll play this game in a regular then lol. Good work though, i really can see a future with this
