How to get the USB connection working? - T-Mobile LG G2x

I got a new laptop with Win7 Home Prem on it just like my old one and I'm trying to figure out why I can't get Windows to see the G2x.
I've installed the LG G2X Android drivers.
I have USB Debugging on. I have the USB Storage turned on.
Yet, it still sees nothing. What am I missing?
I'm on CM7 with 2.3.7. It's an older build from December-ish.

Try rebooting already?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App

Rebooted both and nothing.

Did you use the drivers from the LG updater, and make sure you use the same USB port each time or windows will keep telling you it can't find device or try to find drivers through windows update.

Try updating to one of the new CM7 builds? Also, when you flash be sure to backup, then wipe data, cache, dalvik cache, and system before flashing.

I'll try that. At first I was like, duh, how do I get the zip for it onto my phone if I can't use the use cable, but then I was like, "derr, newbie, turn on wi-fi and gogogo"

Why not turn off debugging? I had to. After flashing EB ICS, it was asking me for drivers again. I turned off debugging and it seen it and was able to transfer data

Does anyone have a link to the proper usb driver for the g2x? I'm thinking the problem is my laptop. I'm able to connect this phone by usb to a car's stereo and it works fine,

Stuck in recovery loop

So in the process of upgrading from CM7 to CM9, I somehow soft bricked my Infuse 4G. Now all it will do is reboot into blue CWM (version 5.0.2.7) continuously. My computer won't read it in download mode even after installing Kies, and a few sets of drivers (not all at the same time). It says error 43, and won't connect so I can't use odin or heimdall. Where do I need to go from here?
Edit: Update- got it into red CWM, then it rebooted and now I can neither connect it to a computer, or get any CWM options. It will boot into download mode, but my PC won't recognize it still. Safe to say I'm past the point of repair?
use odin 1.8 and flash UCKD5, then flash cm9
---------- Post added at 06:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:20 PM ----------
don't worry, it's far from brick.
It's still saveable...although which program have you been trying with download mode...I suggest heindal as it doesn't require any drivers from kies or Samsung...it downloads and installs custom driver for the phone the first time you run it...
So if you've had no luck with Odin try heimdal...if you had no luck with heimdal try Odin...but on a dif USB port...once heimdal is used Odin can't be used on that USB port...
You also may wanna try a dif USB cable...it could be your cable is semi broken and no longer works wig data transfer...mine was like this and would only charge and woulv no longer transfer data...so I used ny dads which worked...

My problem is that I can't get my computer to see the phone. It just boots to the Samsung screen and hangs there, even if I try to reboot to recovery again. Download mode works, but my laptop tells me there's a problem with the device.

Heimdall doesn't see the phone either. I'll try to find a USB when I go in to work tomorrow, because based on what I've been trying that's a definite possiblity.
I was in your exact situation. Here is how I resolved it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1696716. The heimdall one-click unbrick was able to write to the when nothing else could.
Hope this helps...

Yeah you have to go wayyyyy back to stock and then upgrade. Any of the one click restores will work. No way to save your old rom, but you can definitely get out of it...

USB debugging doesnt work after flashing custom rom

I flashed paranoid custom rom 2.53..but realize wifi didnt work hence i went to clear and reflash 2.50 everything works fine except usb debugging.
Whenever i try usb debugging to my laptop, i see a yellow caution under drivers... and then i tried uninstalling and reconnecting and re enabling the USB debugging under development in my tab 7.7
Could it be i didnt tick usb Debugging mode when flashing the rom??
ANy suggestions?
Side Note: Widgets like google-my library also not working. It shows a grey big icon thats all..

uninstall everything.
and you have to follow the instruction.
. Uninstall any previous instance of Kies/USB driver
2. Download the latest Kies, specific to your S3.
3. Download Samsung USB drivers 1.4.6.0 (I've tried newer versions but they all failed)
4. REBOOT
5. Disconnect from internet (VERY IMPORTANT!!! - forcing Windows to install local drivers ONLY)
6. With the phone disconnected, install Kies + USB drivers downloaded in steps 2,3
7. Connect the phone and let Windows install the drivers.
8. Reestablish the internet connection.

setup latest kies with latest drivers.
go to download mode, download is not related to enabling usb dubugging from settings (it should be detected in odin normally)
first wipe the data and factory reset in twrp, or cwm first to avoid super brick bug.
flash the downloaded rom as the tutorial steps normally.

Galaxy S3 on 4.3 with Samsung Custom

I have rooted many phones but DO NOT consider myself an expert in any way but after countless hours on the search, I am just STUCK And seriously frustrated. Here is my complicated story.
I was rooted but without a custom ROM. In the progress upgraded to 4.3 OTA. Since then my phone has been on the decline...the WI-FI does not turn on, the GPS is erratic, and now I cannot connect via USB to anything.
I have done everything imaginable and suggested to my PC (WIN8) as well as the phone. I cannot connect via ODIN nor KIES as I cannot get the USB to work.
In ODIN Mode I have:
PRODUCT NAME: SCH-I535
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (1 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: Enable
WARRANTY BIT: 1
BOOTLOADER RP SWREV: 1
I would prefer to downgrade although I have read this is not an option at this point.
to have functional Wi-Fi and USB connectivity would be great to have again.
Please help!!!
Is my phone considered to be SOFT-Bricked?
Try a new cable and/or a different USB port.
Also kies3 is required. The old kies will not connect to any 4.3 or higher android device. Make sure you have the latest drivers as well

Go on kies make sure your phone in UNplugged then click connection trouble shoot. Same thing was happening to me on windows 8 so I temporarily went back to 7. It looks like the drivers get messed up if you go from lets say the download mode drivers to the normal drivers. It seemed like every time before I connected my phone I had to do that.

Thanks for the reply and suggestions.
I have tried three different cables, installed Kies 3, two different computer and multiple ports on both systems with all the phone settings as suggested. I now get the following message when connected to the USB cable: USB Device not recognized. Device malfunctioned and Windows (8) does not recognize it. I have removed all software, reinstalled phone drivers.

Why do you want to connect to kies? It has 4.1.2 it will always fail the flash for us 4.3 people. Use the Verizon updater or odin. Just a fyi kies will never say it recognizes the phone in downloadmode.

My problem is I cannot get the computer to recognize the phone. I have tried using the code to get into Qualcomm PhoneUtils but I guess I am not sure if that applies to my model phone. This would allow me to confirm the USB settings (MTB?) of the phone.
At this point, any connection would be a HUGE step forward.
Thanks for your help.

Yes, the phone is operational; that is to say it makes and receives calls. The Wi-Fi does not turn on and the GPS is very erratic. I have not found any other problems yet, but I am sure that they must be others....

[Q] Device isn't recognized by the Computer.

Hello everyone!
So, the problem is, when i connect my Nexus 5 into the Computer (via USB cable) the computer doesn't seem to recognize the device...
by "doesn't recognize" I mean not even in Device Manager, The only thing it does is charging up the device.
I tried many things such as:
*Factory Resetting my Device
*Different Computers (one of them is brand new laptop running windows 8.1, another one is normal running windows 7)
*tried to install driver solutions from a Nexus Toolkit
*swapping USB cables / ports on the PC
*Selecting MTP / PTP and plugging / unplugging between
Info:
I'm on a brand new laptop running Windows OS 8.1
My device is rooted and running a flashed zip of Lolipop 5.0
I'm using TWRP Recovery.
I tried looking for a solution in the web including this forum but I can't seem to figure it out.
If by any chance you know the solution to this problem please inform me of it, Thanks alot!

Try going to "settings"

Menu. Click the 3 buttons top right under the time (this is the menu button)
"Choose USB computer connection"
Change from MTP to PTP and see if the device shows up in device manager. Then change it back to MTP and see if it showed up in device manager. If it does on either uninstall what ever driver is installed and reboot computer. Then connect device to PC and see if computer recognizes your phone, if it does let it finish installing and browse to device manager and install the USB drivers put out by google here http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html or alternatively use the naked drivers here http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...r-solves-your-adb-driver-problems-on-windows/
I found that simply plugging and unplugging usb while looking at device manager you can find out what usb it is.
Finally if you could not find out anything above, I had an issue where my usb connection was full of lint from my pocket. The cable was not seating properly inside the phone from the lint obstruction. I could not get the USB drivers or my phone to charge properly. It kept disconnecting and I eventually cleaned the phone with a q-tip and a toothpick, sometime the phone connector could bend so you could try to bend it back, mine has been good every since. I'm not saying shove something in it and bend it/break it. I'm simply saying to lightly clean it or pry it up so that it makes a better connection and make sure that your USB is properly seated.

It seems like you've tried all the steps i know of. Have you tried plugging another device into the comp to make sure it's not hardware issue on the comps side? You could also live boot an Ubuntu CD and see if it's recognized with a different os.
the problem is due to win usb generic drivers that doesn't work

Could be the serial bus controller in the comp is bad. If you have a USB stick laying around plug that in and see if the comp detects that. If it doesn't see any external devices its a defective component in the comp.

You seem quick to dismiss an issue with your computer. I honestly believe it is the computer drivers. Even brand new there are pre installed drivers on your PC that could interfere with the Nexus 5. Its possible that its registered in the PC device manager as something other then nexus or under something other then USB or portable devices. I've seen this so many times. Its also possible that the phone or USB are malfunctioning but I don't think you've exhausted all options software wise yet.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Help!!

Hi everyone, I am a new person in the forums, so please understand if I'm not good at some stuff and if I'm posting this in the wrong place
Well, story is that I found my old Galaxy Tab 2 in my basement after 3 years, and I got it to turn on (no factory cable, 1€ chinese cable). Android version is 4.0.3.
Found a couple of roms in the forums for 6.0, and yes, I've done it before on my phones.
Computer cannot recognize the tab, only says "Unrecognized device", even though I've tried every driver there is to it. Tried kies, no help. Tried odin, no help.
Neither of those detect the tab either, so I rooted it from the tab itself with KingRoot.
Now the tab is rooted, and I tried to flash TWRP to install 6.0.
It says that the recovery is flashed, but when I try to reboot to recovery, it only restarts, with nothing.
It goes into download mode just perfectly, but when connected to the pc, it still doesn't detect it.
I do not have money to buy a new tablet, so I would really like some advice.
Thanks!
hello
go in download mod ( power & vol+ )
go back to origin
use cfautoroot (all needed in it odin + drivers + cfautoroot)
use a new cable
after that install twrp, os ( first cm12.1 )

Hi, will try!
Don't set auto reboot in Odin.
Once TWRP is flashed wait 1 minute and unplug the tab.
Now directly boot into TWRP, else stock recovery get restored on boot.
You should update over OTA to 4.1 or 4.2 if available first, else you'll have to flash a newer bootloader using Odin to avoid graphics glitches at boot.
