[REQUEST] Bootanimation Retro-Style for ICS - Eee Pad Transformer Themes and Apps

I have a request for all you creative folks out there. I just upgraded to ICS and I would LOVE to have a bootanimation resembling the retro BIOS style found in an old thread. Anyone interested as well?
EDIT: It might be sufficient to update the Android version in the HC bootanimation actually. Anything else would be just the cherry on top!
Thanks y'all!

check out the Nexus XDA Themes and Apps forums and there are some great threads with HD ICS bootanimations. might not be perfect yet for the TF screen but would probably be a good start ....

+1 would love that one too!! with ASCII ICS droid at the end !!

Here ya go!

WHere should I put it? Is it updated?

Thanks for the effort! It still says Android 3.1 in the beginning though :/

If I remember correctly it goes in
/system/media
and just replace the bootanimation.zip
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G using xda premium

Here you go, I wanted one myself so I edited the images to remove the references to v3.1, and also added separate animations for both 16GB NAND and 32 GB NAND versions. Hope this is what you were looking for!
Simply choose your NAND size and rename the file 'bootanimation.zip' and it should work

It goes in "/Data/Local"

Nope, goes in 'system/media'..at least that is where I put mine at..
If you downloaded before this post, do it again, I missed a single frame on the 16GB NAND animation and it flashed to 32GB for a split second. This updated upload fixes it.

i use this on my tf101 and i like it

Linux devices still have a bios, this boot doesn't say windows anywhere, nor is a bios Windows exclusive..so, not getting your point, this is what the op wanted, why give them something they didn't request?

i put it for who wants something cool on the tablet when it start

I really can't do a proper Ice cream sandwich mascot ASCII art...
hope one of you guys will do it !
thanks luna for getting closer from what i'd like.
and deejayviral you should add your bootanimation on a threat were people post theirs like : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101535

I just noticed when i booted up my Transformer that I missed the reference to 3.1 in the beginning. I'm going to fix it and make some sort of animated progress bar for the second half of the animation.

You can also use bootanimation.zip in data/local
This is good for those that don't have root, they can push the bootanimation.zip using adb to data/local. Putting bootanimation.zip here leave the original bootanimation.zip in system/media untouch. Just delete the one in data/local to get back to original bootanimation.zip
I have the BIOS portion edited to show 4.0 and upto 2012 for the "copyrights" LOL.
Trying to find a good second parts to add to it.

BIOS style edited to 4.0

R2D2 Droid2 Boot Animation Ported to CM6 and Sense 2.1(with sound) [Updated 9/9/10]!

So I ported this over for you guys, apparently there is a sound (.ogg file) for this boot animation but its not included with this or the original zip. The sound seems to be part of the droid 2 rom and if any one can get it I'll gladly add it to the boot animation (d2_r2d2_pu.ogg). There might be some trimming as the resolution for the droid to is way bigger then the heros and I had to crunch it to make it fit. The original animation used jpegs and you might also see some color loss as I tried to make this run as smooth as possible for our heros.
This is a flashable zip so just copy it to your sd card and flash it through recovery. If it doesnt work that way go in and manually delete the /system/media/bootanimation.zip file first and the flash this file.
.... if you d/l from the thread post so that the thread stays bumped and I know people are actually using it.
I also have a completely new boot animation I've been working on and I think you guy will like look for it tomorrow or Friday .
Update:
About the sound, it seems that the droid 2 will have a new bootanimation implementation that allows for sounds to be defined in the desc.txt maybe when the droid comes out we can get a img dump and see what's going on... I tried to make this work for cm6 and short of me doing the c code myself its not going to work. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to checking out my own repo.
So the 2.1 version Does have sound but its not a looping sound... this seems to be how it was designed to work with the droid 2 bootanimation so I tried to sync it up as best I could... hope you guys like it.
D/L here cm6 version r2d2 boot animation cm6 flashable zip
D/L here 2.1 Sense version (with sound) r2d2 boot 2.1 animation flashable zip

I've looked into this and it doesnt seems possible... yet. It seems the Droid 2 's build of Android 2.2 has something in the boot animation process that allows sounds to be played. The desc.txt has an extra parameter that specifies a sound to be played for a parts of the animation. I'm looking into how hard it would be to and this to the boot animation code in AOSP 2.2.
Awesome! That sure didn't take long...
I gotta ask, is there any way this would work on any of the 2.1 roms, I tried CM6 and found it a lil buggy still for my everyday use and went back to another rom.

Hehe, we were all there at one point, no worries man! I'm still learning
Download the zip file, rename it "bootanimation.zip" and move it to your data\local folder (overwriting the exisiting one).
I believe it's a little different if you're on a stock rooted ROM tho.
Hope this helps

Thanks very much! Ya I'm using a stock rom so I'm going to have to move that elsewhere. I believe it was under system/customize/resource. I'm going to have to download this bad boy and find out!
We are all noobs in something or something else...
If you have the stock rom rename it ATT_bootanimation.zip and copy it in the folder system/customize/resource/
use ROOT EXPLORER and when you are in the folder above just push the Mount R/W button before you paste it...
And you should be all set...

I am running android revolution rom, can i not just install zip from sd in recovery and do it?
Is there any way to modify this bootanimation so that the "quietly rooted" screen stays on until the lockscreen/OS show? On CM7, I get a black screen almost immediately after the "quietly rooted" text shows up, and then a few seconds later the lockscreen appears. I've started using the Android Scribble bootanimation for the time being, but I really prefer this one. Thanks in advance!
Im loving this boot animation. Thanks
Love it. +1. But, because I also love the brilliant boot animation of TPC's optimized stock ROM, I ended up extracting the last frame from the zip and installing it as my splash screen, which works great.
I would like to add "with TPC optimized stock ROM" or some other language to the image, but can't quite match the "quietly rooted" font. Can you please tell me what font it is?
Mucho thanks.
Well actually it isn't a font. "quietly brilliant" is really handwritten... I recreate the letters for "rooted" using the ones in the original line as models... what you ask could be done but its quietly a pain in the butt.... lolol
I suggest you to use a complete different font an add it like a sort of tag underneath the qr line...

Yep; the animation works fine, it just cuts to a black screen for an extended period of time after the "Quietly Rooted" text shows before the lockscreen pops up.

New Market 3.2.0

not much different than 3.1.6 but that version never got pushed to phones/tabs so it may contain bugs. update through link below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297389
edit: as mentioned below, this version isn't displaying properly on tablets. Try Philos' instructions on getting this market to work. see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18392304&postcount=11
3.2.0 looks a lot different than 3.1.6 did for me. The layout is even more scattered and ugly... I can't imagine this being intended. For instance, look at the useless big black box in the second screenshot. Maybe it's because of the ROM I'm running (ARHD 2.1.0), not sure if that's relevant. Here are the screenshots:
well that stinks. I haven't actually tried it on my transformer yet. only installed to phone. anyone else can confirm its not working on tabs? I'll remove link if so.

Instructions:
*You can try to install this .apk over top of your current market, but it may not work. If it won’t, then you will need to be rooted and follow the instructions below.
1. Download the file (Phonesky.apk) to your SD card.
2. In Root Explorer or ESFile Explorer, find the file you just downloaded and copy it.
3. Move into /system/app and hit the R/W button to mount – then paste the file.
4. Find Vending.apk and rename it to something like Vending.apk1.
5. Long press on Phonesky.apk and rename it to Vending.apk.
6. Afterwards, long press on it again and choose “Permissions.”
7. Change the permissions to this:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

}
8. Press “OK”, reboot and enjoy the new market.
Give it a try and you should have the latest Android Market, the same instructions should also work on all Android tablets too. You may run into some permission issues and will have to change a few things using root explorer if that is the case so head on down to the source link for full details.
Nothing to change on the UI.

Porting Motorola Xoom2(XYBoard) Apps

Got my hands on the Motorola XYBoard dump today and i though i would share some of the things that i have been able to pull out of it.
I have started Deodexing and Zipaligned/Signedthe apk's and there are actually some pretty neat things
Floating Notes is a widget that once tapped creates a panel and a toast that you can move around the screen write notes input text or just doodle. Once called once it can be brought up in any other app. I have only had it for 5 minuites now and its sick

There is also a version of SwiftKey that has a form of spell check for hardware Keyboards
Working on motorola email but it conflicts with the stock email app so i will try uninstalling the stock one and see if that fixes anying
I have the Buttons but VRTheme is being a pain so i will upload that later once i get it fixed
I pulled the Bootanim/Wallpapers as well and am working on other apps
I just learned how to Deodex today so sorry if things are a little slow in updating
Wallpapers were tooooo big and XDA limits to 8mb zip files so that is why there are 3 best ones are in 3IMHO

good work.. like the floating notes..
got it up and working, once we get a sizable browser going it will be great for doing research and locking in the links you are reading, which is one of the uses I want it for.
Boot animation looks good.. actually prefer it the latest Krakd's at the moment..
for those that want to have a try..
use ES file explorer or Root explorer
copy to /system/media/bootanimation.zip
just rename the other one you have in there to a .bak encase you want to go back to it.

THX Looks very good. :good:
Hi, Im currently running malladus 2.0.2 rom (VS980) and I renamed the old bootanimation as old_bootanimation.zip and then copied this into system/media and now it only shows the default android bootanimation, you know, the one with the word "android" kinda flashing. Any advice?

I did not make a backup of it, and it did the same for me. The lg splash screen stays on a bit longer and it shows android and the light washes over it.

Is rooting essential?
yes, because you need to replace a file into the system folder

Not sure why, but I just can't ever seem to get any bootanimation to work for me. Permissions are set correctly (I think anyway) to rw - r -- r -- and the original bootanimation.zip is moved elsewhere.
There are a few variants however in my 'media' folder, such as bootanimation_gb.zip / bootanimation_at.zip / bootanimation_hk.zip / bootanimation_se.zip / bootanimation_it.zip are all present as well.
After rebooting my phone didn't have the Three branded boot, it just had the extended LG boot screen with the light shining on it etc.

You don't have to move the bootanimation.zip file. Just name it bootanimation.zip.back or .old, that way you can leave it in place. As far as the other files, not sure what those are [emoji53]

Inspected them all with es file explorer, turns out they are different boot animations for different countries that Three have a network. Deleted them all apart form the UK one now. Even with just the bootanimation from this thread in the folder, it still boots with the all LG animation.
Looks good, thanks. Way better than the stock Verizon boot

That is the best boot animation I've seen. Where can I get that? Link please.
Edit: Are those multiple animations? If so, I would be very thankful if you would share. ?
