R2D2 Droid2 Boot Animation Ported to CM6 and Sense 2.1(with sound) [Updated 9/9/10]! - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

So I ported this over for you guys, apparently there is a sound (.ogg file) for this boot animation but its not included with this or the original zip. The sound seems to be part of the droid 2 rom and if any one can get it I'll gladly add it to the boot animation (d2_r2d2_pu.ogg). There might be some trimming as the resolution for the droid to is way bigger then the heros and I had to crunch it to make it fit. The original animation used jpegs and you might also see some color loss as I tried to make this run as smooth as possible for our heros.
This is a flashable zip so just copy it to your sd card and flash it through recovery. If it doesnt work that way go in and manually delete the /system/media/bootanimation.zip file first and the flash this file.
.... if you d/l from the thread post so that the thread stays bumped and I know people are actually using it.
I also have a completely new boot animation I've been working on and I think you guy will like look for it tomorrow or Friday .
Update:
About the sound, it seems that the droid 2 will have a new bootanimation implementation that allows for sounds to be defined in the desc.txt maybe when the droid comes out we can get a img dump and see what's going on... I tried to make this work for cm6 and short of me doing the c code myself its not going to work. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to checking out my own repo.
So the 2.1 version Does have sound but its not a looping sound... this seems to be how it was designed to work with the droid 2 bootanimation so I tried to sync it up as best I could... hope you guys like it.
D/L here cm6 version r2d2 boot animation cm6 flashable zip
D/L here 2.1 Sense version (with sound) r2d2 boot 2.1 animation flashable zip

I've looked into this and it doesnt seems possible... yet. It seems the Droid 2 's build of Android 2.2 has something in the boot animation process that allows sounds to be played. The desc.txt has an extra parameter that specifies a sound to be played for a parts of the animation. I'm looking into how hard it would be to and this to the boot animation code in AOSP 2.2.

Awesome! That sure didn't take long...

I gotta ask, is there any way this would work on any of the 2.1 roms, I tried CM6 and found it a lil buggy still for my everyday use and went back to another rom.

[Bootscreen] Halo Reach Android Edition (Finally)

After almost 4 weeks of putting together storyboards, computer crashes, time constraints with the animation, testing, starting over, finally settling on a storyboard, more testing, editing, a broken car that won't start, being stranded at home for 2 days due to the weather, I am PROUD to give you Halo Reach Android Bootscreen. I hope you all enjoy, I am currently rocking it on my rooted EVO. Be aware the animation is a little longer than what most are used to for a bootscreen.
Major thanks to Rivertamer for his help testing!
IMPORTANT: Tiffany84 has just created flashable files for users, the links are below the animated gif. The original files still attached to the post are not flashable and require adb push or copying from your sdcard to the appropriate system directory.

Here's a flashable zip for the halo bootanimation. The first one is for people that are running a rom with the bootanimation located in system/customize/resource. The second is for people that are running a rom with the bootanimation located in system/media. The first one has the sound included but the second one does not because there is not a way to use sound for the bootanimation on a rom that has the bootanimation located in system/media. Just wipe dalvik/cache and flash.

wow again u should make a thread with all your anims man unless u have one and i missed that ..
This looks pretty sweet.
One thing though, for those with roms using the system/media folder. You can add any boot sound you like, just make or get your mp3 file.
Using Root explorer
Rename the file to android_audio.mp3
Then copy the file to the system/media folder.
i Love it and i'm not even a Halo fan but i want this Boot animation

I just tried renaming and moving the audio like u said and it did not work. I've been looking for awhile to find a way to add the audio on roms that store the bootanimation in system/media but haven't had any luck so I was really hoping this would be the answer. Question, I take it u have done this and it worked so can u tell me what rom u are currently running that u were able to do this. Just curious to see if its a sense rom or aosp. Thanks.

Also, I have an HTC Evo with MikFroyo 4.4 Which one would I use for my setup? I have not done any custom bootscreens or anything like that, so this is new to me.
And lastly, do you have any other animations out there? If your work here is any sign, I would like to see what else you have come up with.
Thank you,

Nexus S Boot Animation (Original Non-Modified)

This is the boot animation taken directly from the Nexus S, I installed root explorer and sent the animation to my phone. No resizing was needed as it looks awesome without it, plus I tried to resize it and it looked funny. I think it looks cool so I thought I'd post it for others to enjoy. There are two versions:
Version 1:
1. Download and move to the system/media partition and overwrite your existing bootanimation.zip
Version 2:
1. This is a flashable zip using edify script so it will work in clockwork 3.0+
If you like it give me a thanks. If not speak your mind. I'm trying to be a more constructive member of this society hehe.

Sure, if you have another boot animation. Use a file manager to go to system/media, make a copy of the boot animation there and move it someplace else. Then just move the new one into system/media. It will ask if you want to over write, say yes, and reboot. Then, to go back, just move the copy you made back to system/media. Cake and pie.
If you have problems, gimmie a shout, and I can walk you through it.

Sense 3.0 CAM working on Sense 2 Rom...

I have succesfully got this to work on [ROM][Sense 2.1] GingerSense ReMix (B1)
OK...
The steps I took to do so..
Download Camera Zip: http://www.multiupload.com/EJI8A8SWT4
Using ROOT EXPLORER: extracted zip (sdcard/extracted)
I moved entire "Sense3_Camera-0.9" folder to: /system (for copy/paste ease)
GoTo: /system/Sense3_Camera-0.9/system/app (folder)
change permissions for HTCCamera.apk, HTCAlbum.apk (to: rw-r-r)
now GoTo: /system/Sense3_Camera-0.9/system/framework (folder)
change permissions for com.scalado.caps.jar (to: rw-r-r)
from their I copied content of each of the 4 folders in "/system/Sense3_Camera-0.9/system" to matching "/system" folder on device (and pasted)
rebooted phone
Camera 3.0 and Album WORKS!!!
---only issue is that "HD 720P (1280x720) setting in Camera will FC Camera so just set to "Widescreen (800x480)" to match The INC`s Screen Resolution!
--- And "YES" the 360 Panorama WORKS!

Does not work. On initial run it gives a notification that it couldnt back up the stock bootanimation. Selecting preference fc's the app. Does not change the boot animation. Places several wrongly named double zipped bootanimations in the /system/customize/resources, /data/local, and /system/media folders. Should be named VZW_bootanimation.zip, in the system /customize/resources folder. The restore option dosent work as their is nothing to restore. The stock backup fails, and i see no option to do a backup, so that i could restore a backup.

For AOSP Roms, the animation is stored in data/local. For Sense roms, it is stored in /system/media or /system/customize/resource, for sense 3 devices, it uses bootanimation.zip, sense 4 is htc_bootanimation.zip. If you could send me the errors for the problem, i would be more than glad to help.
I have a Dinc, and I couldn't find anything wrong with it on there.
Again, please send me the error and i would be happy to help.
Am i ment to get an error code from somewhere? First error is a notification, failed to backup stock animation.
Second error is a force close when selecting preferences.
Third problem is no way to back up and nothing to restore.
On stock rooted gingerbread 2.3.4 the boot animation is located in /system/customize/resource, and is named VZW_bootanimation.zip. Im sure thats one of the issues, you need to include VZW_bootanimation.zip as a file to backup and replace. Never mind about the double zipped stuff i mentioned earlier, im just blind. Also this way of getting the right system wastes a lot of space creating multipul files when only one is needed. Your app should search for the correct file path, when it finds it, it should back it up and replace only the stock file.
Not trying to be a downer or offend you, just saying.

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it. I just (Hopefully) fixed the incompatibility issues with the stock Dinc. Believe it or not, that was what I was currently working on for the next update. I haven't had much time, and that was just my quick way of making sure it worked on all of the supported phones. Please tell me if the app doesn't work again. PM me because It'll be easier to talk that way. Try downloading it again on the market, I updated the apk.
Thank You again

try it again, fixed a stupid bug
Ok seems to be working now. However some of the animations are formated wrong such as "blue hole". If i install the "blue hole" and then go look it is a correctly named zip, but appears to be a flashable package. It contains 2 folders meta-inf and system which contains a folder named media, and then the actuall bootanimation.

sorry about that. That's me being up till 4 or 5 in the morning trying to add animations after a night of coding. That's an easy fix which i'm doing right now.

Just went through all of the animations... you ended up downloading the only one that had the problem... haha
Only other issue i see is when restoring an animation, it still restores it everywhere, instead of just the roms proper location. Other than that great job. Here are a couple more animations if you would like to add them http://dinc.does-it.net/Boot_Animations/Blue_Particles_VZW_bootanimation.zip and http://dinc.does-it.net/Boot_Animations/Green_Particles_VZW_bootanimation.zip.

Thanks. As said before, I will add that in the next version.
As for the animations, I wish I could add them. Unless you are the animator, I can't put them up for legal purposes. Sorry and I hope you understand. If you ever know of any animators trying to get their stuff out there, refer them to me and I'll put their stuff on my app.
Thank you for helping me get support on the Stock Dinc.
I now realize that I was using a non-stock rom, and was unaware of verizon's change.

Which animation? I'll check it out for you. It is possible that is how fast the one animation is after it has loaded. But let me know which one and I'll see what I can do for you.

I mention this in the OP.
The problem is that synergyROM doesn't allow a custom boot animation even with a custom kernel. I asked about it in the thread but didn't get a response. I'll try again.
That's why I use bean's

any chance of getting this for Stock Rooted?
I manually installed to data/local on bean v6 and it works perfect!
Thanks for the animation, schu9120.

It is pretty tough to make one that will work with stock. I'll look into what it would take to get it working with stock and I believe it would then work with synergy ROM too.
I'm busy paving a street right now so I'll look at it after work

You would have to make it a .qmg file to run on stock rom.

Added new AOKP bootanimation
Cool boot animation, works great on Bean's Rom
Hi schu9120
Looks like Synergy is now using a custom kernel......Bootanimation coming its way?
Is there anyway you could make a download of just the blue android part of the countdown animation?! Have it just run that during the boot up process?! Thanks in advance... I'm just being picky
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Love this - I'm getting white page flashes during the dropping androids (end of cycle) - I can look up how to fix that, but is that something you could fix/repost or do I have something out of whack? Task650 AOKP ROM, included kernel.
Let me start off by saying that my old laptop is being a sh*t head and is making these boot animations WAY more difficult than they should be...

I need some time to get one put together and I haven't looked around to see what kind of Team Synergy images are out there. Do they have a logo?

That's a tough one. I'm guessing that my images are too big or possibly something else... our phones are too busy loading important stuff when they boot up to handle high quality images. I'll see what I can do, but if you find a salution let me know:banghead:
I don't have much free time to work on these but I'll do my best. I'm just a road maintenance worker with an art degree and a four year old boy so free time is pretty tough to find right now.
Every time you hit the thanks button I'll put another 10 minutes of work into new boot animations
