official MR4 vs leaked MR4 - Thunderbolt General

Hello! i was wondering which radio you guys would recommend? to my understanding there is both a leaked MR4 build out there as well as an official MR4, i've read mixed reviews about the leaked version so not sure which i should go with =/ thanks for your input!

Official was best for me.

Leaked has fixed a lot of issues for me.

I did not know there was an official MR4 leak. So the official is sense 3 from Verizon then?

I've only seen one mr4 from open mobile. Can you link me to the other you speak of?

thanks for the input ended up reverting back to official mr4 for the time being, also @dirtyfingers here is a link to all currently available radios, Turd Furguson did a great job of putting them all together http://www.nerd-haven.net/forum/showthread.php?tid=1

That's probably what he meant. My T-mobile Nexus S is still on 2.3.4.
A lot of these updates are to get the devices ready for ICS and its features.

Not particularly
2.3.4: Rolled out to all devices - Maintenance release - fixed issues
2.3.5: Rolled out to Sprint Nexus S 4G to resolve signal issues, introduced some SE code
2.3.6: Rolled out to i9020a to attempt to fix Search button bug among others
2.3.7: Introduced Google Wallet
All of the releases since 2.3.3 (which enabled Write support for NFC) have been maintenance releases prior to 2.3.7 which introduced Google Wallet. The ICS branch is a completely separate branch of the development tree.
Mean 2.3.3 .4 .5 and .7 and how y'all think is gonna work Ginger/honeycomb together .... I really would love to get honeycomb itself on my phone ...but that's too much to dream of lol

Sounds good but unlikely unless someone steps up to try and port a ota rom. The real Jboxer and (forgive me) Lotherius both tried to do an exact port but it was very complicated with baseband and partition tables. If someone wanted to try that'd be awesome, maybe practice for when the O2X gets 4.0????!!!!

How'd it get complicated? Back in my Sammy Vibrant days, most people could do it pretty easily. Devs of course.

ics rom no update for sgs2

Hey devs and un-devs alike,
I have not got the update yet tho I know it is out. kies says my phone doesnt do updates through it and when I check for ota update it says non available.
why is this.
vodaphone uk, original sgs2, gingerbread 3.5
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
As far as I know its not been released by the oems. I'm not sure how the uk companies handle it but att has to do whatever they want with ics before we get it. I would recommend installing aokp or cm9 if you want ics.

thanks loads, is that firmware or a rom?

Cm7, stock,update,etc

Trying not to beat a dead horse here.... currently running a stable cm7 from last year with launcher ex instead of adw.(rooted) What kind of updates are in the newest cm7 release? Is it worth a flash? The new at&t update, how is that compared to say a custom rom? Looking for a stable, snappy, (with some eye candy) phone. And if I wanted the att update what would I do? Go back to stock?

Flash and see for yourself, as for the at&t update use gizmoe's or flapjaxxx's rooted version in the dev section

I tried Android Revolution HD 6.3.3, which is exactly the same as AT&T's update, plus overclocked @ 1.5GHz. Battery life is good, better than unrooted, though. I recommend it
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Cool. I may change it up a bit. I hate re-flashing so I haven't tried much. But lately either cm7 or the launcher ex has been dog slow. Been waiting to see if they bring cm9 to the inspire.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda app-developers app
Man, I sure hope they do. I didn't like CM7, though, because stock Gingerbread is too plain. ICS doesn't need another skin over it.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda app-developers app
Well, I flashed latest nightly of cm7. Now I really can't wait for a stable 9. I was hoping for a little improvement in update but haven't seen it. Went back to adw cause launcher ex is soooo slow. Cool though. Anyone seen an unofficial cm9 with the bugs worked out?
Sent from my inspire using xda app-developers app
Try installing Jellytime ROM. Its Android 4.1 jellybean. Its actually an unofficial CM10 build.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda app-developers app
Thought about that. Jb I heard was a little buggy. Same as cm9. That's why I like waiting for an official unless the bugs in the above mentioned are minuscule. Plus do u have to flash anything extra like a kernal? I'm better than noob but far from expert. I like small risks.

Flashing New Radio

I've heard a lot recently about flashing a new radio to help get better reception and it sounds great and all, but if that can be done so easily why haven't all carriers just started with the best there was to offer? Does it adversely affect battery life? If I were to change my radio what would I want to change it to?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
Well if you were to flash a new radio, it would be the new jellybean radio leaked from the new vzw jellywiz.
You can find all the radios on one of the stickies under Android development and you'd just install the newest one. but unless you're having signal problems, i wouldn't bother. I do have it installed though.

Has it made a noticeable difference?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
For me the only way I have noticed a difference is when I am running the leak. I don't know why but that's the only time I have better reception.
Sent by one of my many Anthromorphic Personifications
How stable is the leak right now? Since its a major upgrade is there anything special I need to do to flash it?
