That's probably what he meant. My T-mobile Nexus S is still on 2.3.4.

A lot of these updates are to get the devices ready for ICS and its features.

Not particularly
2.3.4: Rolled out to all devices - Maintenance release - fixed issues
2.3.5: Rolled out to Sprint Nexus S 4G to resolve signal issues, introduced some SE code
2.3.6: Rolled out to i9020a to attempt to fix Search button bug among others
2.3.7: Introduced Google Wallet
All of the releases since 2.3.3 (which enabled Write support for NFC) have been maintenance releases prior to 2.3.7 which introduced Google Wallet. The ICS branch is a completely separate branch of the development tree.

Mean 2.3.3 .4 .5 and .7 and how y'all think is gonna work Ginger/honeycomb together .... I really would love to get honeycomb itself on my phone ...but that's too much to dream of lol

Well hello Samsung user. Welcome to the evo. Rooting this phone is as pain free as turning your samsung on. Maybe you should read up a little bit.

Try rebooting the phone, then updating both profile and PRL.
Unrevoked had my 2 evo's rooted in 5 minutes each. Not seeing how that is hard. But anyways, glad you got the update to go through.

New Gingerbread 4.24/4.26 update?

Ladies & Gentlemen, as we speak I am manually checking for an update from HTC. There was actually a GB update waiting for download. Its either 4.24 or 4.26. Can't check as I am currently downloading. Please try....and post back with your experiences. Thanks!
Edit: This was already posted in the Evo Q&A Section and General Section.

Interesting was there supposed to be an update?
Maybe I'm missing something but I didn't see anything new for the Evo. Last update was in December.

I checked today and there was a 8 meg update but I'm rooted so I didn't update it.

Thee has been one major update which was the GB 4.22 update plus this one which is 4.24. It is only 6MB, so I'm sure its nothing major. Keep trying the manual update. Took me two tries.

How did you find this? I checked HTC support page. Where should I be looking? Running Cm7 I can't do it through the updates like on Sense.

It is under Settings/Software Updates/HTC Software update.
FYI: It does not update radios, the locked hboot 2.16.001, or Wimax. It does seem to make my phone respond faster (apps snappier & data seems faster).

The faster response is probably a result of rebooting your phone and not having 100 apps running in the background eating up memory

Official Gingerbread?

I apologize if there is already a thread going on this but as you can see I am using the XDA app and that doesn't have the best search feature. I was wondering if samsung has released any official news on when the US is supposed to get Gingerbread. I had heard that they were rolling it out based on their "Regional Plan" but does anyone know what the plan actually is?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
Tbh, I don't think therell be an official gingerbread update for this phone.
1. Not none as much...
2. Hardware wise not that good
3. Tmobile is slow with gingebread.
And I heard krylon is working on a CM7 so we're saved because of him!

Already is, since AOSP based roms (like cyanogen) and phones run 2.3.5 and the HTC version for the Thunderbolt is 2.3.4. Anyways, one doesn't stay stock and expect to be bleeding edge (unless you have a nexus phone).

no one is working on cm7 because there is no source. Slayher attempted it and he got to a point where without the source there was no success so he stop workin on it. He was the first to get cm and ppl tweaked his cm around but still have same bugs.

You should talk to topprospect about this; he compiled a working (booting) AOSP rom from the msm8660 source before this was released. Here's a link to his current status on it -------> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22523586&postcount=127
And here's one to his github ------> https://github.com/dferg/android_device_msm8660_skyrocket
