Cm7, stock,update,etc - HTC Inspire 4G

Trying not to beat a dead horse here.... currently running a stable cm7 from last year with launcher ex instead of adw.(rooted) What kind of updates are in the newest cm7 release? Is it worth a flash? The new at&t update, how is that compared to say a custom rom? Looking for a stable, snappy, (with some eye candy) phone. And if I wanted the att update what would I do? Go back to stock?

Flash and see for yourself, as for the at&t update use gizmoe's or flapjaxxx's rooted version in the dev section

I tried Android Revolution HD 6.3.3, which is exactly the same as AT&T's update, plus overclocked @ 1.5GHz. Battery life is good, better than unrooted, though. I recommend it

Cool. I may change it up a bit. I hate re-flashing so I haven't tried much. But lately either cm7 or the launcher ex has been dog slow. Been waiting to see if they bring cm9 to the inspire.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda app-developers app

Man, I sure hope they do. I didn't like CM7, though, because stock Gingerbread is too plain. ICS doesn't need another skin over it.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda app-developers app

Well, I flashed latest nightly of cm7. Now I really can't wait for a stable 9. I was hoping for a little improvement in update but haven't seen it. Went back to adw cause launcher ex is soooo slow. Cool though. Anyone seen an unofficial cm9 with the bugs worked out?
Sent from my inspire using xda app-developers app

Try installing Jellytime ROM. Its Android 4.1 jellybean. Its actually an unofficial CM10 build.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda app-developers app

Thought about that. Jb I heard was a little buggy. Same as cm9. That's why I like waiting for an official unless the bugs in the above mentioned are minuscule. Plus do u have to flash anything extra like a kernal? I'm better than noob but far from expert. I like small risks.

[Q] PDroid on the Nexus S i9023

Hi there. I'm new to the Nexus S. Bought a second hand one after my first Android phone (galaxy ace) died due to water damage. After a week of reading I unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone.
Now here is my question, I am a big fan of PDroid wich currently only runs on gingerbread. I really love the ICS interface but until PDroid can run on ICS I am looking for good deodexed gingerbread Rom. So I would like to ask your opinions on the GB roms.

I tried finding Nexbreed on XDA but the thread was closed due to warez. Did you get it from a different site?
Thanks anyway. Someone else opened a post about GB roms and alot of people are recommending Oxygen so ill have a look there.
I ve downloaded it in Rom Manager. Oxygen is good too but i prefer Nexbreed because for Oxygen you have to wipe cache and i need my cache.
Ah ok.. I never used rommanager because it bricked the galaxy ace. But I'm guessing you can download from within the app. I'll check it out. Thanks!

Rommanager is a great app! I can reflash Cwm from within! So I downloaded nexbreed. I am on ICS 4.0.4 do you know if I their are any issues with downgrading to gb?

Nope just do a full wipe beforehand, ie /system, /data, /boot and then flash it

Bugless Beast and Carbon are both good roms too
Nexbreed is a good one try it out.

Thanks for the input! I'll give it a try tonight.

So I made a PDroid patch, flashed nexbreed had a little problem with super user (didn't seem to work) just reflashed the one I still had from rooting. Flashed PDroid an all works well! Later I will try the other GB roms you all advised but for now nexbreed is looking really fast and stable. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. And let's hope ICS support for PDroid will be out soon

After trying nexbreed for a few days I am happy with it and want to see what else is out there.. I downloaded oxygen and bugless beast but both where odexed. And for PDroid I need a deodexed Rom. So any suggestions for a deodexed gingerbread Rom would be much appreciated
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
Seems my PDroid patcher was a bit off, not sure why but no matter what rom I gave it to patch it said it was not deodexed. After reinstalling a different version of PDroid all was good. So I made a successful patch of blandroid and the Pete Crespo rom. I'll have a look at them tomorrow.

Missing apps in the ota ics

My gf was exited to hear that ics was available for her skyrocket the other day. I pushed the leak a few months back for her.then the official yesterday. now my question is: where is the people app in the official update ? In the leak it was a better version of contacts. with Facebook, google + status updates next to the corresponding person.is there a way to port this over?
I must say I'm extremely disappointed with this update. Visually nothing is different. Battery, signal etc all the same.

Only the aosp versions get that. The official version has the crappy Samsung app.

because they went from touchwiz 4 to.... touchwiz 4. Exciting, I know.
Tell her to stop using official garbage and use one of the exceptional roms from our devs.

Her quote " then have a exceptional ROM from the devs themed blue like ics is supposed to be. And i won't use the official garbage." If one of these exist with the official ota let me know. And not the leaked garbage

Cm9 and AOKP are both AOSP roms. That's why no screenshots, it's vanilla ICS. Just look at a galaxy nexus, that's what it looks like.

Fastest and most stable ROM for the G2X?

I got this phone for my mom and wanted to ask what is the most fastest, simple and the most stable ROM for this phone?
PS - I know that this has been asked a lot but just wanted to know what's the latest and greatest
Simplest and most stable is stock.
I've recently gone to CM7.2 and so far I'm pretty happy with it as far as speed and stability

You can get CM from their website cyanogenmod.com
I'm on my phone so I don't have the exact link available.
And I've never used MIUI, sorry

i think that CM7 Last Nigthly works really well to me, on stock kernel and V6 superchager... Go launcher LG UI 3.0 Themed smooth and 16 hrs of normal use...
For speed use CM7 or MIUI, they are both really speedy and pretty stable for this phone, but I feel like MIUI is much faster.
For stability use Stock 2.3.4, except after a while it may begin to slow down but a simple reboot should fix it.
Hope this helped

Most stable rom?

What's the most stable ice cream sandwhich rom for g2x?
Skip ICS and get pa jelly bean from tonyp . Eagles blood 4.0.4 is most stable ICS if you're still interested

i recommend GB roms mainly, You can try out the ics/jb roms but it won't last long.
sigh...just search a little and you will find your answer...

it's threads like this one which make me hope that xda will impliment a negative button and if you have x amount of negative points then you are not able to post for x amount of days...
someone lock this thread
Why won't it last? I'm currently running PA Jellybean and get no crashes and decent battery life.

Agreed. I've been on tonyp's PA since he put it out and I was on the hackfest before that. Nothing has ever been so bad that I felt the need to return to GB.

There is no such thing as most stable/best ROM.
