Ok. I'm very much aware of ebay but I was under the thought you bought it locally in India. I'm seriously planning to get a WebOS device, either the Pre 3 or the Touchpad. I'll get it from Ebay US since the prices are cheaper than Ebay India.
I'm just curious, how good is WebOS ? I mean the battery life, apps availability, bluetooth connectivity, etc.
I'll proly get a new one with warranty. Any chances that HP will honor international warranty should you run into any problems with the devices ?

There is a way to enable the virtual keyboard,it envolves enabling "Dev Mode" and downloading some "HomeBrew" Apps.I'm actually running WebOS 2.2.4 right now on my Pre Plus. Works pretty good, its unstable at times, but the more iuse it,the more it seems to "burn" in and become more stable.

There is a patch for it..go to webosnation.com
Unfortunately, it only enable the virtual keyboard on portrait mode..not the landscape mode..

But in Preware, there a virtual keyboard that can be installed and if I remember , it can go landscape.

Swapping the desire s for palm pre 3

Yep. Believe the pre 3 is a good choice. For a straight swap mainly for the keyboard. What you think?

Straight swap is not a good idea! Pre 3 seems to sell for about £100 on ebay whereas the desire s seems to sell for about double that.
Secondly, webOS is dead! While I admit that it's a beautiful OS and it's becoming open source, there is still a lot of work needed to be done. However, if you are content on getting the pre3, a straight swap just wouldn't cut it for me. I would need cash with the pre3 because you would be losing quite a bit of money
I bought the desire s for around almost 300 quid a year ago. I couldn't find a pre 3 for about 100 on ebay though

Depreciation! Anyway if you look at the completed listings you'll see the price tends to be around £100-£130

[Q] IR Remote App?

Is there an app that can take advantage of the ir sensor? Besides the one bundled with the tab? (I forget its name too)
Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk 2
I believe that it is an emmiter, not a sensor.
Wondering this myself...peel does an OK job but I'd like to use it as a big harmony remote if possible.

I've been looking too but haven't found any app to use the ir blaster. I made a request to the peel developers to include codes for my sharp projector. Does anyone know if I can configure peel for only a stereo receiver?
I emailed them also and asked if they would allow peel to run on cm9. It refuses to even load for me. Could be no kernel support also.
Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk 2
Peel sucks!!!!!! Would be awesome to use as a regular remote.

Hi, If anyone could provide me with the Peel APK from a Tab 2.0 with IR blaster, I would like to take a look, I want to get a Tab 2 7.0 for remote control, but in the UK they don't have the IR blaster.
Before I import one with a blaster, I want to be sure that I can write my own IR app for the device. I'm very happy to share any findings with the community. Hopefully we will be able to roll our own IR API, as according to the Samsung dev site there is no API available.
Cheers,

I can't get it to control my Sony TV, Blu-Ray, and Audio system.
It's Sony, I would think they would have codes for a fairly Old and popular brand.
sony app
I also am unhappy with the peel app and am looking for a way to get the app from the sony tablet s. I found download links in the sony tablet forum, but cant get them to install. Heres a link to the forum page with the download links: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1650834 Hopefully someone who knows more about the .apk files and how they work can get this to work. The sony app looks far superior to peel.

I've been looking for an app as well, I don't have cable cause i download all of my movies and tv shows. It would be nice to have a remote of some sort, even if its just a simple one... The Peel doesn't seem to work. I tried alot of the different IR apps out there with no luck...

Does it have to use data continously? That's the only drawback to peel so far.

I am downloading this app now, looks like it could be an answer, i will test it out when I get home and let everyone know how it works... Especially since it seems aimed at Samsung Tab 2 for its IR
I downloade the app. It does not need connectivity. I dont get what the paid app is for, plus it is really expensive.

I tried out touchsquid on my LG and didn't get any response... I was really just hoping for something like a universal remote. Like where you can program pretty much any TV to it. Not just a few groups...
UPDATE: I called into TouchSquid and they were really cool with their support division, they said that if the code groupings don't work then email them your model of TV and they can probably find the codes for you. I've never really dealt (or had a number to call) any of the app developers before, nice to have that kind of support, and the Tab 2 is what they do most of their testing on!

Which windows phone should I buy for wifi only?

OK, so I currently have a wifi aokp ics HTC flyer, iPod touch 3rd Gen jailbroken , hp touchpad dual booted with android and web os, and Samsung fascinate on miui 4 used only with wifi and has no plan of any kind, I bypassed activation. As you can see, I have a large collection of devices but do not have any cellular plans on them at all (my phone is a basic keyboard phone and I can't afford to pay 360 dollar a year data plan upgrade with Verizon, plus I don't want to worry about going over on data and being charged more). That being said, I want to try wp7 but don't know which devices I can use without a plan of any kind and just on wifi. Could someone clarify for me what my options are, if there are any, I have Googled it for a while without luck. Any help is appreciated, and thanks in advance! just a note though, I asked specifically about the HTC arrive and dell venue pro before because of the keyboard, but they didn't seem confident in their own forums. Again, thanks!

I'm not talking about putting it on Verizon, I just said that was my carrier for my keyboard phone, no wishes to replace it. I just want to try wp7 in general and use it not as a phone but WIFI ONLY, like an iPod touch. I want no plan of any kind. This is possible on some androids, I've done it on the fascinate. So I just wanted to know my options.

Are you sure? If that's true, how do you bypass the cellular activation screen and go on with using wp7? There was a method to it with the fascinate, and you could simply hit the home button once on a custom from. Is this the case for wp7 too? Or are any unlock codes needed to do this? If there is a custom rom of wp7 for a phone, is it safe to assume it can be used without a plan of any kind?

I have two P6800s one for me and one for she who must be obeyed and both are fantastic devices. i believe it is one of the more flexible for use devices on the market. I sourced both of mine from http://www.onthegosolutions.com/. If there are any available that is another source. just looked at the website and he shows 699.00 for a new one. Over the years have bought about 8 different phones and never had a problem. Best of luck finding what you want. BTW i use 64 g cards in both so have plenty of memory and storage.

I believe the two antennas were for use on a carrier of your choice, since it comes without contract (even international).
Impractical probably for most. Ever since I got an android device (an archos) many years back I kinda wanted to be able to have a functional desktop experience. Having a note ii now I can basically already do that, whether im using a tablet multiwindow mod or the linuxonandroid app. That being said, there seems to be enough who want that kind of functionality. Would be even cooler to see somethin like that with a keyboard dock. Old idea that was tried on other phones.
I'd go as far as to say this is nothing like what's been done before.
I love it, would definitely buy it if it was coming out sooner, but I need a new phone now, not in 2014.
Never figured the price to be all that steep either, you 'muricans have gotten too used to carrier-subsidized stuff
Here in Norway an $800 price tag is normal for such a badass...

It's an Ubuntu touch phone that has the option to boot into android, with an android app compatibility layer for Ubuntu coming soon so you can still use your favorite apps when using u-touch. It also has a desktop mode where you can hook it up to a monitor and enjoy the full desktop version of Ubuntu.
The desktop mode is the reason for the specs, so it's literally a computer in your pocket. Thanks to so many ARM distributions out there, almost every single piece of software in the main Ubuntu repositories has been ported to ARM. Overall, for $800 you get an Android phone, and a desktop computer that fits in your pocket.

Soo true. Thays really what drew me. Im mean it really sounds like a high quality device and it wouod have to be to meet for both a high end android device and a very functional desktop computer. I can even imagine it being more, having the ability to be a laptop too.
I just read only people who support the development donation 775 will get the phone its not being publicly sold or distributed also the 2 antenna deal is one lte antenna is for the US the other is for functionality in EU if y'all want I'll link the article from indegogo which is the current most updated article.
Edit: ok I apologize and correct my last statement it's not on indegogo site that's the place this article refers to if you want to donate and back this project to get one... Here's the article

Whether or not you like Ubuntu, you should hope that this 'experiment' exceed, doing so would surely drive something positive towards the mobile phone scene.
But will it get the newest android versions when they release like the nexus devices, or will it just update android in the same way as, say Sony does? That's probably the qyestion holding me back a little.

this phone wouldn't be commercially successful
At the beginning I thought the campaign is gonna be a huge success.. but looking at it now.. seems like a far cry from being successful. But would be cool to see a device that can dual boot android & ubuntu though:fingers-crossed:..
What do I think? Neat idea, not so great on the execution. The Android world is full of great-but-not-quite-there ideas, and this is a good one -- unfortunately the timing just isn't right.
Dual-booting is just way beyond the scope of what the average person needs or wants right now, in my opinion. Could it be useful? Definitely, if implemented and executed correctly. Maybe this is one of those product categories people don't know they want until they have it?
