So i recently unrooted my B90 Transformer, after hearing that Asus would give us ICS. I'm back on the stock ROM now, and it updated to the 8.6.5.21 firmware already. Changed my mind last night, and decided to root it again, because there will probably be a handful of better ICS ROMs out there soon enough. So I searched several different forums for a way to root the .21 firmware, and almost all of them gave me NachoRoot, but they said it only works on some B70 and below devices. I didn't even try that one, because I don't use ADB and don't have it set up.
I tried RazorClaw, didn't work. Tried this method, no dice. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

NachoRoot should work for you. It has nothing to do with the SBK so it doesn't matter
if you're pre or post B70.
NachoRoot requires ADB, which I don't have, nor do I have much experience with. Hence the reason I didn't use it. Unless there's a different NachoRoot that automates the process, it's a no go for me. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
Try this it is an automated version of Nacho. Originally for Prime, but reports of ppl with TF101 using it.

Yes, USB Debugging is on. Finally got the MTP driver installed, about to try the other two. Hopefully when I get them installed, I can run ViperMod.

Keep me posted.
Update: Installed all three drivers directly from Asus, tried to run ViperMod again. For the 9999999th time, I got a diagnostic message that said:
Cannot execute "C:\DOCUME~1\JUSTIN~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\Rar$EX70.464\viperMOD PrimeTime v4.1\viperMOD PrimeTime v4.1.exe"
Followed all the directions, but still came up with this.

jeepjeep thanks, I'm going to see if i can find a way not to downgrade first. But it has certainly crossed my mind. It's looking like the viable option.
Hey OP, ignore everyone else and listen to me. In order for nachoroot or viper to work, your asus sync needs to be synced. When you connect your TF to your PC, you need to press the sync icon on your TF and wait. It will fail to recognize the first time. Press again. It will fail to recognize a second time. Keep trying. Usually, the third time is a charm.
And I am putting this in big font so you don't accidentally miss this post.
And yes, I am an ass.
PS - so many bad advises these days.

You need to the PC to recognize via asus sync first thing before you do anything.
Doesn't matter what your serial number is. Just use nachoroot.
Remember this, not all advice are equal. Look at my siggy. That's my resume for android devices.
Added by edit.
You need to download and install asus sync on your computer.

Well, while this is true, adb can still recognize your adb devices while asus sync ain't syncing. The first steps of nachoroot will not work if asus sync ain't synced.

Not sure if this will be true for your device or not. All i know is that for my device I did not have to mess with Asus sync at all. I find it odd though that the nacho root thread says nothing of the neccessity of Asus sync.. Sync it up.. its not going to hurt anything but I feel it is an unnecessary step. Now lets get back to gorealmighty's problem and stop the unneeded bickering.

Actually, I think you might be right. I work with so many devices that sometimes I get confused. May be I was thinking of the rooting process for HTC devices. My bad.
O.O good lord theres no easy answer for this lol. downgrading is still looking pretty viable. I think I may end up giving my laptop and TF to a buddy of mine who is pretty command prompt savvy.
ok, so I tried the sync thing, Ive tried running through CMD, maybe im missing something or over complicationg things. do I need to bring up adb the same way as described in the idiot proof guide...which apparently im proving able to beat or do I simply enter into cmd then follow the nachorot instructions as posted...because that doesnt seem logical. no path etc.
as much as I hate a Youtube tutorial I may have to go find an extensive vid tutorial -.-'
guys, little debate aside, I do appreciate all the help, hopefully your patience outlasts my inexperience.
and just to throw my 2cents in. Razorclaw makes it painfully clear that it is not .21 friendly, however I have read a couple of posters who have had what appears to be hit or miss success.
Still dont know how to identify Bxx version...just saying.
Do you know how to command prompt navigate to your android folder? What windows are u using?
Don't get me wrong. The answer is easy. Its the receiver that's the problem. Please don't take offense. I've been dealing with nontechies for years. It usually boils down to the nontechie not doing something right.

First of all, if you are in ICS, all you need to do is download the vipermod tool from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21009605
You should connect you tf101 and make sure under settings you have usb debugging checked. On your computer run the tool, click option 1 (even if it says tf201), just wait for it to reboot and confirm you have superuser and root. Hope this helps.
If you are still in honeycomb, i think there is another option for Tf101 in vipermod

Just turn USB debugging ON.

Nope. Just search vipermod. You don't need an update if you have cwm. You can just install what ever you want then. Including the update..

thanks. the last thing im having trouble with is the drivers installation it also says disable asus sync and the splashtop but i cant find those two apps anywhere. also vipermod got updated so the choices are now:
1: root (only method for prime on ICS v9.x.x.11)
2: root (only method for prime on ICS v9.x.x.8)
3: alt root (recommended for TF101 also works with prime on v8.x.x.x)
4. unroot
5. install unlock tool and flash cwm
6 donate
7 exit
from my understanding i would connect the tablet to my laptop, kill asus sync and splashtop somehow, then open the vipermod app and press 3? i cant tell you how thankful i am for everyone helping me i'd be so lost
User option 1 in ViperMod
I used nachoroot. So I don't know. You could use that too. I am putty sure you choose 1 tho in vipermod.

I was able to update to ics by manually downloading from the asus website. Tried vipermod again and still got adb unrecognized so I looked up how to install adb which I did. Still nothing. When you have your fastboot folder open press shift and then right click. One of the options in the menu should be "open command window here". That should do it unless Windows 8 has changed this.

TF300T UK Model Build 10.4.2.18
I apologise if help is on another thread which I could not find.

My TF300T is a UK model.
It has arrived with Build 10.4.2.18 already installed.
I want to root it and install a custom ROM. Like many others I want to remover some of the pre-installed apps such as Chrome.
I've rooted 4 HTC phones with no problem but I just cannot find a hard and fast post with instructions to rid this 10.4.2.18 of its factory installed ROM.
I have unlocked the device using the ASUS website.

TWRP Recovery for JB Bootloader. Its an older Versions which runs without any problems. The 2.3 or CWM are giving many problems to many User, so i recommend the 2.2
Take a look here
http://www.teamw.in/project/twrp2/97
on how to installe via adb or fastboot.
After that you can just go into TWRP recovery with turning on while Power and Vol- pressed at the same time
Than switch to RCK with Vol- and choose it with Vol+.
Once in Recovery you can install all JB Bootloader compatible Roms like you are used to

I've tried several time to root my Droid Razr M with motochopper but it fails every time. I'm guessing the exploits been plugged. Is there a way to root this phone. I am pretty sure you are on newest firmware, it would require you to use RSDLite to downgrade most likely, unless you unlocked bootloader previous to taking newest update:

Build is now listed as 9.8.1Q-66 I read down the thread and someone suggested putting the phone in fast flash mode with instructions. Problem now is I can't get motochopper to work. It keeps hanging at daemon started or something like that. I'll try again.
OK I'm an idiot. I did a factory reset just to make sure everything was as it should be and forgot to re-enable debugging. I'm now rooted. I did the protect root and I have to proceed to the next step but I have to take a break for now. I'll be back at it in an hour or so. In the mean time the phone is off. Don't want nothing happening. Thanks for the help. I think the part about putting the phone in fastboot flash mode is worth noting somewhere. This wouldn't have worked for me without it.

Make sure USB debugging is enabled after the downgrade, I am wanting to say it may have turned it off? It sounds like Motochopper isnt seeing the phone is all.:good:

I've tried several time to root my Droid Razr M with motochopper but it fails every time. I'm guessing the exploits been plugged. Is there a way to root this phone. I need to make changes to the tether so it will work with my tablets along with all the other cool stuff that comes with rooting. I found another app online but I'm not sure I trust it. Last thing I need is a bricked phone.

No worries! Thanks for trying to come up with an easier solution, no harm at all in that! :good:
Root xt912
The best method I have seen for rooting the XT912 is on YouTube called "How to use the Droid Razr Utility to root and restore your device." It is simple to follow but you have to follow instructions exactly. I have used the Utility many times with no problems.
