I recently rooted my HTC Explorer.. Everything was fine till last night. When I played an avi video file (video H264 and audio mp3) in the default player, the video stopped after few seconds.. and I had to manually start the playback.. This happened every 10-15 seconds.. When I used 3rd party app such as MX video player, the video paused and started again from the same point... In both cases, it's very annoying
The only root apps I have are titanium backup, droidwall, Cache cleaner NG and link2sd.. And this error has started occurring out of nowhere.. I have attached a screenshot of log below.. I think this has something to do with OMX flushed issue.. I searched around in here for the same error but could not find any definitive answer. Has anyone faced this and is there any solution?

have you tried with different files? try downloading the video/film from somewere else or downloading a video with the same characteristics (video H264 and audio mp3). I guess is a file error.
Yes I have.. I tried diff codec, video files, lowered the resolution of videos, diff FPS but no luck

well, im sorry I cant help you much, you should have touched some system files, the only way i see to fix it right now is installing a rom, if you do not have a problem with the language in it..english Ok for you?
---------- Post added at 10:40 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:33 AM ----------
try cleaning dalvik cache, see if that helps
u can do it with link2sd
reboot phone inmediately after
Tried clearing the dalvik cache.. didn't help.. Is installing a new ROM the only way? and yes I use english only..

then no problem, just make a backup of your apps and data and flash it.
I have already made backup of all apps.. Where can I get that ROM? and I guess the official ROM isn't out yet right? any tut on flashing?
sure check my signature I created a stock based rom with a2sd, no need of link2sd anymore
I found a temporary solution.. I tried several combinations of video players and files encoded using diff codecs. The error was consistent with all video formats including avi (H264 and xvid/divx both), MP4, mpg, mkv and flv.
Default player - When error occurs , video gets paused and you have to manually resume playback
MOBO player - When error occurs, video is interrupted for about 1 sec but resumes playback.. sometimes it returns to main menu.
MX Video Player - When error occurs, if you have screen lock on, screen is unlocked showing control bar.. video is interrupted for about 1-1.5 seconds but resumes playback automatically.
QQPlayer - When error occurs, video is interrupted for barely milliseconds, and if you have screen lock on, control bar does not pop up. I think for now I have to live with this...

When the phone rings i hear an annoying glitch or blip ( SCRATCH) which occurs only at the start of ringing tone.
My Questions:
Do u have the same problem ?
How we solved this ?
Thanks in advance
I had the same problem. Didn't solve it though. I think the MIDI engine takes a long time to load, which causes the glitches to occur. Try to get an mp3 ringtone, for me it works, no more glitches. Must be that decoding mp3 is faster than decoding MIDI files.
Don't know if it will work with you, lets hope

I have the same problem with your ringtone, but the MIDI was even worse Note that I had that problem too just previewing the file... The second preview was ok, must be some kind of cache miss or so?

Try a soft reset, if it doesn.t work hard reset your phone.
My HD2 didn't come with the youtube app.
So I downloaded the youtube app for my touch HD and copied it to my HD2.
I've installed it on HD2 and it works but it looks VERY different to the old youtube app that I had on my Touch HD.
It doesn't look as nice, but the results do scroll really well accross the top of the screen, and it starts playing REALLY fast on my HD2 (none of this buffering nonsense). Here is the cab I used.
After install is working but can't stop and seem very slow....any one can help....
I'm running Cookie's HomeTabs on my HTC HD2 T9193. Youtube at first seemed ok when I tested smaller videos, less than 2 minutes long. but if i select any videos above that, which mostly are. It will say "connecting" forever until it finally gives up and says connection error.
I've been searching around and I've tried signing in and out of the google/youtube accounts - still doesn't work. and So I've inconclusively narrowed it down to an issue of cache/memory. My theory is that videos less than 2 minutes don't take up as much temp space so it can load it, and for larger videos, it hits a block/protocol of some sort that won't allow it to load.
I've tried running youtube via the built-in app and via the Opera browser with fixflash.
Any ideas?
Youtube App
I've personally been having trouble with various youtube apps on my HTC HD2.
This one is the most stable. Interface is slightly different than the stock one but much more stable and I personally prefer. Enjoy and give me feedback.

I had a same problem bifore when i use CHT 1.8.5 now a had CHT 1.7.2 and all aplications working very good
Two weeks ago I hard bricked my LGP920 (firmware update screen) and last week I got a replacement through LG's 24-hour service, but the phone has had a problem from the beginning: I can't play any videos. At least not properly.
I haven't rooted my device, it's running on T-mobile and version v10d.
When I record a video and try to watch it it simply says "can't play video"
The 3D videos that were on the phone were all green and blocky
Youtube videos are also green and blocky.
It doesn't matter whether they're in 3D or 2D
The strange thing is:
I can make pictures, watch pictures, make the videos themselves, play games, do whatever all without any problems.
When recording a video I can see the preview just fine, the playback is broken though...
Sometimes the video recorder (stock) crashes to homescreen right after pressing "stop recording"
I've tried the LG software update, it didn't make any difference.
I've also tried resetting to factory settings from android's recovery menu, no luck.
I cant suggest an answer but I can say that the problems you describe often happen on computers where it needs a specific video codec installed and maybe something is missing on the phone you have.
You could try playing videos with a different player and see if they then play properly, if they do it would suggest a problem specific to the video player I think but other than clearing its cache from the phones settings I cant suggest a solution.

I agree with you that it looks like a codec problem.
I've tried the stock media player, the youtube app and the ES File browser media player. All act the same.
I forgot to mention this:
Sometimes the video recorder (stock) crashes to homescreen right after pressing "stop recording"
Sometimes, very rarely, I manage to record a video that does play, but it will be a black screen with only the sound...
Have you tried resetting it to factory settings? Worth a try before trying to get a replacement best of luck!

Yes I have
Also I just tried formatting the SD. No luck.
I just tried recording a video and playing it on my computer.
The sound works kind of ish, but this is a screenshot of VLC playing it:

The file is 52MB.
So you don't know the solution?
Thats what vlc looks like when playing a low resolution video that it cannot decode properly, which is odd as the picture should be much bigger. If on vlc you go to the menus and click the menu option (second menu from right I think) that says media information it will show you the resolution and codecs used.
It will at least help determine if its a codec (on phone) problem or a recording malfunction. Was the video high definition or 3D?

Hola!
Device Configuration: Before I describe the problem, plz have a look at my signature to see my device configuration. It will give you the details about the ROM, OS and kernel currently running on my device.
Problem: Since the last couple of days the Stock Video Player (Samsung Stock) has been behaving erroneoulsy. Whenever I try to play a video the player opens but the video does not play. All the controls are shown on the screen but there's no video or audio playback. I can press the play/pause and next/previous buttons but there's no playback. Video playback through other 3rd party video players like MX Player is perfectly fine.
Here's a screenshot of the problem:

What I've tried so far:
1. Cleared the cache and data of the Videos app from Settings>Applications>Manage Apps
2. Deleted the VideoPlayer.apk file from /system/app using root explorer and cleared all the leftover files like in /data/data and dex files.
3. Obtained a fresh copy of the app apk from Neo ROM and Re-installed the VideoPlayer app by pushing the apk to /system/app using adb and fixed permissions as well.
I've done all these step over and over again 'n' number of time but to no avail. Still the same problem as described earlier.
4. Finally I repeated the playback process and recorded a logcat. (attached)
What I suspect: Last week I flashed the beats audio libraries. But I wasn't pleased with the effect so I restored a Nand Backup that I had previously done. I think this process messed up some media libraries.
OR
Some recently installed app is causing problems. Can't say!
I'm not a dev so I cannot myself analyse the logcat to pin-point the issue. So I was hoping that some one from the forum who's good with logcat's could take a look and if possible point out the issue.
Thnx!
Anyone? Plz

I don't go to sleep until I utilize my quota of 8 thanx a day!
1) Get SD Maid
2) Go to app control
3) Go to settings => Include system packages and scan system packages
4) Select The problematic app - Select Video Player
5) Select Reset app to its install status.
6) Go to settings=>applications in the phone and clear data/clear cache if available
7) Also if possible clear you media player cache and clear data .
8) Reboot the phone (Dont know if i rebooted but worth a reboot)
9) Wait for the cache to be rebuilt.
10) Fingers cross and thank me if works
Not a dev guy but this worked for me for quite a few things when app responds strangely
I tried...but same result as before. Anyways thanx for suggesting.

yuv works absolutely fine on every hi10 i tried , x265 , everything with 99% stable fps
except some of the x264 10bit , it generates black artifacts on white backgrounds like this one

only fix i know is to switch to rgb32 , 16 doesn't solve this
and on my xperia z3 , no roms , 4 months old it runs slow , with cores up to 4 and it sucks to keep changing the color format depending on what i'm watching
RGB32 is the superior format in terms of picture quality. Based on how the colourspace is defined in the hi10 profile, it's expected that artefacts may occur on YUV and RGB16; I don't think that anything can be done about this...
It is true that RGB32 is more processor intensive; unfortunately nothing can be done about that.
It looks like artifacts from some HW/HW+ decoder.
Please try SW decoder if HW/HW+ was used.
It was with s/w , cant run it with h/w
I dont mean anything bad really but other video players with yuv ran good -no artifacts- with the same fps
-But they're audio was far inferior quality and loudness also the 200% boost so..-
Is this something to be fixed in future updates or by custom codecs or something?
Thanks for the replies
