[Q]Yuv\rgb16 color format problem on (some) x264 10bit files - MX Player

yuv works absolutely fine on every hi10 i tried , x265 , everything with 99% stable fps
except some of the x264 10bit , it generates black artifacts on white backgrounds like this one

only fix i know is to switch to rgb32 , 16 doesn't solve this
and on my xperia z3 , no roms , 4 months old it runs slow , with cores up to 4 and it sucks to keep changing the color format depending on what i'm watching

RGB32 is the superior format in terms of picture quality. Based on how the colourspace is defined in the hi10 profile, it's expected that artefacts may occur on YUV and RGB16; I don't think that anything can be done about this...
It is true that RGB32 is more processor intensive; unfortunately nothing can be done about that.

It looks like artifacts from some HW/HW+ decoder.
Please try SW decoder if HW/HW+ was used.

It was with s/w , cant run it with h/w
I dont mean anything bad really but other video players with yuv ran good -no artifacts- with the same fps
-But they're audio was far inferior quality and loudness also the 200% boost so..-
Is this something to be fixed in future updates or by custom codecs or something?
Thanks for the replies

What are you using to play the youtube vids on your Xperia? If I let the phone buffer a bit, I can play SD videos with ease on R2, and on R1 I was able to play SD videos without a hiccup and w/o buffering.
Just watched the video, have you guys actually tried Kinoma? I haven't tried it on my X1 yet nor have I tried this pre-release build, but I did try the current build on my old 400mhz Touch Cruise, and it was fvery ast on that device too. Its really difficult to tell how much of the speed is due to Kinoma's smooth code, and how much is due to the speed of the G01...
Man that looks good. Smooth as a baby's bum!

[Q] HTC Sensation XE ViperS 5.1.0 Video Highlights

I'm not sure if it's just me or is everyone else who is using the 5.1.0 rom also getting the message "unable to create video because there is a problem with the original media files" when trying to play the video highlights.
My videos are 1080p mp4 and the video highlights work on my HTC One (m7).

I've tried methods suggested in other threads but it does not fix the problem. I think they only apply to android verison 4.2.2 (ViperS rom is android 4.1.2).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2308665
I've also tried modifying the ZeroEditing.apk file so that only the available musics in video highlights would recreate if I changed the music folder to another name i.e. "musicold".
Therefore the new music folder would only generate:
music_avalon.mp3
music_burbia.mp3
music_eifel.mp3
music_islandia.mp3
music_polaris.mp3
music_vega.mp3
This method did not solve the problem and I'm running out of ideas....HELP!

It works for me for videos only shot in low def, like videos shot in or below QHD (960x540) and bout 8Mbs bitrate.
It starts with 1080p of highest bitrate for me but freezes once it gets to bout 1 - 2 seconds into it if I'm lucky.
I think our CPU or GPU can't handel this part of the software as it probably relys on the hardware and it fails.
Oh, I forgot to mention that lower quality videos from downloaded sources are a hit or miss. Photo highlights works perfectly.
I get the same symptoms as you, 1 or 2 sec then it freezes. Ocassionally I get the error message but it's not consistant.
If we can get a couple more user to testify that they can't run it as well then I'm sold that the hardware is not powerful enough. In the mean time I'm continuing to do tests to see if I can find a solution.

HW decoder Ghosting Effect

Hi. I bought a Mini M8S II TV BOX with Amlogic S905X CPU and Mali-450 GPU. Then I installed MX Player Pro from Play Market. I tried different decoding modes .
Sound output is hdmi passthrough or spdif.
In HW+ mode sound output is stereo only. The picture is excellent.
In HW mode sound output is normally 5.1. But the picture has problem. There are ghost images from all moving objects.
Examples:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The reason why HW+ can't do 5.1 passthrough is likely due to proprietary drivers than MX can't access. It works on HW as HW calls the system to do the decode, whereas HW+ uses MX's own logic to do so (and therefore no access to the proprietary SPDIF passthrough). As to whether it can be fixed, I'll leave to someone else to answer.
Thanks for the answer!
But what could be reason for ghost images in hw mode?

HW mode is based on the android native media player api. MX Player have very basic controls over it. In General anything on HW is basically from your ROM. It seems to be a bug on your ROM.

Kindly read my reply just above your post.
In General most of the issues with HW decoder will be from the system. Try HW+ or SW. It may work better.
Kindly share some screenshots & bug report from MX Player whenever you report an issue.

Slow motion video at 480 or 960 fps

Hi everyone,
I bought a Poco X3 NFC, and it is supposed to be capable of 960fps video. The problem is the stock mi camera allows you to film only 4 seconds, of which only the last 1 second is actually in slow motion. This makes it basically impossible to actually film anything, either you are too early or too late.
I have two questions:
- With a different ROM or camera app, will it be possible to simply film video in 960 fps from start to finish, and to film longer than 4 seconds?
- Would it be possible to film with an intermediate speed, like 480 fps, which is not available in the stock software? Or is the hardware not actually capable of this?
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks,
Joe
U can change it in camera settings.

No, sorry. I've given up on doing slow motion video. At least it still takes decent pictures... I'm on a custom ROM though so I don't know that the default apps would be like now.

Question HDR10+ Pretty wonky?

Can't play any HDR10+ videos on my phone for some reason. It can only play HDR10+ videos recorded by the phone. When I open the "Video" app I can see a small HDR10+ icon.
However, the mediainfo says it's HDR10? And when I load any HDR10+ video it says it's HDR10 only??
The clip I downloaded was from this site.
The media info of the HDR10+ Test Video and the Video recorded from the phone. And of how it looks like in the Video app, Pic
You can see how weird it is, would love some insight
Plays good, no problem here.

I Downloaded the video from the link your provided and it played ok on S22 ultra Android 13 stock one UI 5.0, snapdragon model. Are you on stock Android? Are you using the stock video player? Did you install other video player that could be interfere with it?
Played fine for me.

I'm using stock android. I used the stock video player, MX Player, Just Video Player/Just Player, MPV and VLC. All of them have the same output. The Increase contrast has no difference with the output and the decrease brightness one decreases the brightness of the whole scene, nothing like what the demo pics showed. Also, I'm using the Vivid screen mode which unlocks DCI-P3 which would be great for HDR content, still getting nothing. I'm posting the photos of what I'm getting and what I expected to get over here.
