Revolution HD: ICS vs. Sense and recent releases - HTC Sensation

I'm trying to avoid having to read through 50,000 posts because the ARHD thread has gotten a bit unweildy...
I'm currently running ARHD 3.6.5.
As you can tell it's been a while since updating and honestly I was waiting around for a stable ICS remix.
At any rate can anyone clue me in on where the scene is at? I see there's different versions of ICS available for ARHD; are they worth while, daily drivers or should I just update my sense ARHD to the current version?

mike1986 said that the current base used for 6.2.1 XE might be close to final. I'm using 6.2.1 XE as a daily driver, without issues.
If you flash this ROM make sure you also flash the correct firmware.

Thanks for the reply.
Did you install the 1.2 or 1.5Ghz version and/or is there a noticeable difference in performance AND battery life? I'm more interested in battery honestly. I'm not much of a power user and I don't stream or watch videos on this really.
Also, is a Super Wipe necessary?

Definitely if you're coming from Gingerbread.

Battery life on ICS sense is amazing for me compared to GB literaly get almost double the batterylife . It sucks though cuz I feel that sense 3.0 is way smoother and faster so I switched back till a new leak is released. Everyone says that sense 3.6 is faster and smoother than 3.0 though :/

Is it just me or are the xe based Roms slower?

Just wondering about others opinions
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
I am running InsertCoin version and it's faster than the stock rom I was running. Although, I am mainly comparing Launcher Pro in stock vs Launcher Pro in XE.
It's just u. Insertcoin is the fastest sense Rom I've used
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
Yeah but what version of insert coin are you using? Is 2.2.5sse the fastest?

XE is flying with faux's kernels.
Android Revolution HD is running slightly faster than before.

In my sig, I am running InsertCoin 2.5.4 (SSE). They have 2.5.5-1 SSE available now.
Running the revolution hd xe based rom. Its pretty dam fast, not sure about battery life with the faux kernel though. Though am still running in a new battery
ARHD 3.6.0 XE is faster than all the previous versions.. I love it!
+1.

The benchmark scores might be better, but Revolution HD used to be faster in every day usage... It lags on home screens now :\
I tried it on two different Sensations.
I'll try Pyramid3D now.
I've heard that the XE based ROMs have a problem with CPU1 being turned off for most of the time, causing the slow down in performance.
No one has confirmed this yet though, but my benchmarks are really crappy compared to pre-XE based ROMs.
I'm just using the stock rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1262539 by EddyOS
Got bored of using custom roms with the faux kernel as it seems to annihilate the battery and I got bored of having to do battery pulls because the phone would suddenly just not work!
The above rom works fine, stable and fast enough
Cheers for the recommendation
Could be mods for pre-XE ROMs don't work as well but I'm sure that's not it. I've had no issues with mine tho, altho I do use Show's 'Bricked' kernel

You're welcome
I got an anker battery to help with the battery performance, but after flashing ARHD,InsertCoin and CoreDroid, my battery life became worse than the HTC Battery. It was fine prior to the introduction of all these different Kernels.
Now I'm back on stock, it's much better, so thanks again
I have an anker battery and am running ARHD 3.6 and it runs fast, lasts a bit longer than my stock ROM, and is much nicer than stock. I use TMO 4G in the US, and the speeds I get on this rom now are much higher than they ever were on stock.

What we mean is when comparing XE based custom ROMs with pre XE based custom ROMs.
My phone shut down all of a sudden in a call and wouldnt boot unless i removed the batter and retried. Also batter life seems a bit lower with XE ROM ( 3.1.1 vs 3.5.2)
No lie, it does feel slower, and for some reason more bloated. I wish dev's would drop it or make the regular one and the XE rom, then again it's a lot more work but still.
i personally don't benchmark so i'm not sure how xe roms are compared to pre-xe in that department, but from experimental use (give or take a few days on it) the InsertCoin XE rom (using the bricked kernel) was one of the smoothest sense roms i've used, but that's just me.

Which ICS rom do you prefer?

I'm not totally sure yet as it isn't 100% yet
With sense - ARHD (for now!); Without sense - Virtuous Inquisition.. That's my opinion..

I've tried ARHD but the terrible battery life made me go to Virtuous Inquisition. Very stable.
What's the point of this thread?
It's like going to a bar and asking a bunch of guys which beer is the best. Hopefully you don't get punched in a face
Even so, there is a difference in quality when some are stable and others are still in Alpha.
I've always had minor problems with ARHD, performance hiccups and whatnot. Virtuous Inquisition, however, is stable and just feels lightning fast and smooth.

I think this thread could go that way: flash and post a review! Think of it like ROM tasting - have a sniff, a taste, spit it out, rinse and try the next one.
It's not always as simple as that, but I suspect that now that TripNRaVer released his beta ROM of the Cyanogenmod 9 source, for Sensation, that developers can be inspired to also source from CM9 and get some more ROMs out, based on CM9.
Has anyone here got it running and can compare it to the best on XDA?
I've waited this long. Just waiting until we have a CM9 ROM running properly, then will try a few of them.
CM9 for Sensation is a great leap for Sensation ROMs, IMHO.
Kristofpetho's HyperNonSense is excellent! I installed it on my gf's phone and it's super fast and stable. She prefers speed over beauty though, so that's always something to consider

I use ARHD 6.2.1 XE but I cannot connect wifi networks with enterprise security. So, ARHD is not so good!

HTC Sense.. just ... ugh. I'm disgusted with it.
I've used ARHD before ICS and after, in my opinion, it's the most stable.
But I'm currently running OrDroid with Sense 4, I think Sense 4 is way better than 3.6.

this virtous inquisition doesnt have the phone unlock issue on receiving a call anymore right? been thinking of going for a closest to vanilla ICS experience for a bit.

It really depends on how you use your phone, what you want, etc...
If you're a tmobile user and need wifi calling then the jellybean ROMs are a bad choice for instance..
In short you really can't ask what's the best ROM and get a useful answer without telling people what you need and expect..

Is it me or does Gingerbread run the best on the Sensation?

ICS ran like a dog on stock and on ROMS, JB is also pretty horrible to be honest, I've tried various ROMS from CM based to Viper and they are all sluggish when you try and do more than 1 thing at a time. I went back to stock Gingerbread today and have to say I am surprised, everything seems to be running pretty smooth and snappy although battery life seems crap but I think I can live with this because of the decent performance.
I wish I could go back to gingerbread too, but I've never gained s-off on my sensation. Now my wife is using it as I have a One and I don't want to mess around with it just now. I remember too when bought the sensation, it was pretty fast and stable. Ics update was horrible. However I flashed the darksense rom on the senny, that's how my wife is using it. She's happy with it just yet...
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I don't know what you're talking about.... For me ICS was about the same as JB, and when I used Sense 4/4.1 it was blazing fast. When I tried JB ROMs (CM10.1, ViperS 3.1.2) it was just fluid.... are you sure you flashed your devices correctly? Because for me it is awesome.
I've a good experience with JB with viper. With a moderate use I have 1,5 days of battery life and a more smooth experience than ICS or GB.
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using xda app-developers app
I didn't use GB for long on mine but I found ICS incredibly fast and stable, never had a lot of problems with it. Even now I have my S4 I still flash new ROMs onto it and I keep going back to ICS, specifically HNS ROM.
Having latest CM and stuff is cool but because I'm out at work all day I prefer stability over speed and new features.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Only reason why GB seems fast because it's less resource intensive, ics and jb are more ram intensive and thus less free space for apps
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app
For some reason the stock RUU (ICS) seems a lot slower to me too.
But on the other hand, the custom ICS ROMS are considerably better.
For me jb is the smoothest one. Project butter does its job. Plus it is the least battery consuming one. (Viper3.1.2)
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda app-developers app
I've made the experience that cm, beginning from cm9 to cm10.2, ran and still runs very fast and smooth with very little lags. With sense roms (3.6, 4.1,4+) i often had lags. But on the other hand since arhd reached v7.3 it became very fast but unfortunately less stable (some reboots).
Can't agree with this. Sense 4+ is extremely smooth and blazing fast on the Sensation.

This is what I have noticed, It does 1 thing at a time blazing fast but have something running in the back round such as apps updating and it stutters all over the place.
