It really depends on how you use your phone, what you want, etc...
If you're a tmobile user and need wifi calling then the jellybean ROMs are a bad choice for instance..
In short you really can't ask what's the best ROM and get a useful answer without telling people what you need and expect..

That's right. It's kinda very invidual thing and just after a long searching and trying you can choose which ROM fits you the best. :good:
hey there
am currently stuck at the ViperS ROM with Sebastian FM kernel besides a 128mb zram.
these two are quite gud for me n does suffice for a nearly professional use.
gaming, multitasking, listening 2music, browsing web, overclocking ur cpu n etc. lag free.......

Can anyone recommend that kind of rom? If you can include the kernel and mods to

Uhmm yes... But thats 2.x.x senseless. I'd like creating folders, better GUI etc....
I want IceCreamSandwich(ICS), That's 4.x.x, senseless.
Bit thanks dor the help so far

well 'best' - Ill have to leave that to you ;-)
I'm now on ARHD 6.0.2 and ICS+ASOP mod to remove Sense and its a good experience...
That after quite some tinkering and fixing (clearing apps datas and multiple fix permissions for non-working or FC'ing apps)
ICS ROMS are clearly new and not trouble free yet - but if you follow instructions to the letter your upgrade should go smoothly and if you dont like you can go back to one of your backups
my two pence

Virtuous Inquisition is by far the best ICS and probably even general rom out for the Sensation right now, I've hahd ARHD 4&6 SEnsaY XE, Virtuous has given me the best battery life of any rom yet, it is very stable, and the only issue i've had is the wifi calling not working.
all this is just my opinion though
Thanks everyone!

I really liked Virtuous Quattro, it's in alpha now, but still very good. Unfortunately no UMS support is a deal-breaker for me, so I'll stick with CM7 for now. (But again, it's just my needs...)
I'm running InsertCoin ICS. Really digging it. Just upgraded to the new 3.24 firmware. It has a lot of the bloatware stripped out, but keeps the Sense lockscreen, launcher, and some widgets.
Like'n Virtuous Inquisition 2.1.0...very cool ICS rom!
Thanks everybody! Now used virtuous inquistion and quattro.... like inquistion if talking about how smooth and problem-less it works.
But the battery of inquistion is not that good... so quattro has got a better battery, in my opinion.
Btw now creating my own rom, blending functions from virtuous, megadroid and other roms to my AOSP based rom...
Let's see how that turns out...

I'm trying to avoid having to read through 50,000 posts because the ARHD thread has gotten a bit unweildy...
I'm currently running ARHD 3.6.5.
As you can tell it's been a while since updating and honestly I was waiting around for a stable ICS remix.
At any rate can anyone clue me in on where the scene is at? I see there's different versions of ICS available for ARHD; are they worth while, daily drivers or should I just update my sense ARHD to the current version?
mike1986 said that the current base used for 6.2.1 XE might be close to final. I'm using 6.2.1 XE as a daily driver, without issues.
If you flash this ROM make sure you also flash the correct firmware.
Thanks for the reply.
Did you install the 1.2 or 1.5Ghz version and/or is there a noticeable difference in performance AND battery life? I'm more interested in battery honestly. I'm not much of a power user and I don't stream or watch videos on this really.
Also, is a Super Wipe necessary?

Definitely if you're coming from Gingerbread.
Battery life on ICS sense is amazing for me compared to GB literaly get almost double the batterylife . It sucks though cuz I feel that sense 3.0 is way smoother and faster so I switched back till a new leak is released. Everyone says that sense 3.6 is faster and smoother than 3.0 though :/

Again with the ROM comparisons, how many times do people have to be told - dont do it, it can be rude and offensive to chefs!
What might be best for someone might not be best for someone else, the only way to find out is to try.
ViperS for me so far, I found the overclocked 1.4.1 kernel made it even smoother!

All of them! Try some and report back...
ViperS for me too!
Even underclocked my SensationXE to 1,18 GHz, normal Sensation frequency. Rom is still very smooth, reacts very well and the battery life is great!
Obviouslly ViperSs 1.0.1
GO FOR IT....Everything's working Butter smooth, No any issue...

I just flashed Viper for my first ROM. I am very pleased with it, but I am still waiting for the battery to settle down a little. Burning a little quicker than stock right now, but things should get better.
Hi guys
I'm from the HTC EVO 3D section of the forum and I know this question is usually frowned upon but recently my sister's phone (Sensation XE) has become laggy as hell and very buggy. She's come from an iphone and is not used to this kinda stuff and has no idea about rooting/custom roms, etc. So I have offered to borrow her phone for a day or two and root it/put on a custom ROM for her which will hopefully sort out these problems and give credence to my claim that Android is better than iOS.
The reason I'm asking this question is because I just don't have the time to test out different ROMS. I need to root it and put one on as soon as pos and then give the phone back to her. (She doesn't live with me so I can't be changing ROMS all the time for her, and she needs her phone urgently)
What I am looking for is recommendations on a very fast and stable ROM with good battery life? Preferably Sense 4.0 but if that is too buggy/battery hog, then I'm fine with Sense 3.6. Just need it to be snappy and as stable as possible because I won't be around much to tweak it and sort out loadza problems if they arise in the future.
Thanks in advanced for your help.
Sense 4.0 looks good but it's not very good with battery (i get max 7-8 hours from it). So i'd recommend a Sense 3.6 ROM.
My favourite and the most stable one i know is ARHD

Hi there, It's really best to have your sister try out SEVERAL different roms then make a choice.we have so many great roms to choose from and is really a matter of personal taste as to which one to use .do her a favor and let her experience different ones and choose what she liked best ! I'm running viper right now and I love the customization options, but it's always best to try out SEVERAL then have her choose. Hope this helps. Best wishes to you both I do hope you take this advice. It's really best to form your own personal opinion when it comes to roms.

Vipers 1.1.0 is the best sense 4.0 rom out there. It has great tweaks and it is stable.your sis may not like cm9 or aokp.Go for viper
Viper or a few other sense 4 roms are a good choice...
Cheers for the help guys.. Will be sure to check those roms out.
@ realsis - Cheers for the suggestion, and I know what you mean, but in this case it is extremely unlikely to happen. She doesn't have the time or desire in testing out loadza different roms. This is probably why the iphone is better for most people because you're given a fast and simple OS, and everything just works and is super smooth. Most people are happy with that and rightly so. Personally I'll spend ages looking for the "perfect" rom, but the reality is that most people just don't care.
No pun intended but also lack the experience in flashing rom's and kernel I would suggest a rooted stock Rom for now and let her play around with so she will get used to it and then later on go a little more advanced and then let her take it out for spin to see how she likes it oh keep in mind even on a rooted stock Rom there's no lag like it is on a stock Rom that isn't rooted and for the kernel check out this one for the kernel and there's mod that go's with it as well im running it now and its awesome here's the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432211

The fastest, smoothest ROM is Mike 1887's Android Revolution HD's. She can also have Beats Audio with the ROM.
TouchCream is the best, fastest and smoothest of them all! Just click on the banner in my signature
Word of warning: viperS is a great sense 4 ROM, its wonderful, but install a different kernel. The bricked kernel that comes with the ROM causes it to lag. The viper thread is filled with people suffering lag on it. I suggest seb's (link in Sig) or faux123's. Faux's forces both cpu's online so it may be a bit worse for battery, but I can't make that call, others seem to do well with it.
If you still have doubts, ARHD sense 3.6 will give the best stock appearance without the lag.

May have to go for that one then. Like I said, she has no interest in swapping around and flashing ROMS, so it'll very much likely be a one time job with no testing of others.
As it is your sisters phone and you don't want to constantly be messing with it and her having issues with it. I'd recommend Android Revolution HD. It is the closest thing you can get to the stock ROM. It's fast and smooth.

Just a head's up, guys. ROM comparison threads are not allowed on XDA.
The correct answer to which is better is to try both of them and see which is better FOR YOU. There is no universal 'better'. It all depends on your personal usage. That's the ONLY way to determine what ROM is your best option.

What i can just say, is that Inspiration is better without Bricked Kernel... Sebs or Sultan i test with.. Its not really the same ROM i can say now...
It no drain battery, just after first start.. After that, with battery charged u can use it for a day with stock battery. (Yes mine is stock)
