I am running InsertCoin version and it's faster than the stock rom I was running. Although, I am mainly comparing Launcher Pro in stock vs Launcher Pro in XE.
It's just u. Insertcoin is the fastest sense Rom I've used

Yeah but what version of insert coin are you using? Is 2.2.5sse the fastest?

XE is flying with faux's kernels.
Android Revolution HD is running slightly faster than before.

In my sig, I am running InsertCoin 2.5.4 (SSE). They have 2.5.5-1 SSE available now.
Running the revolution hd xe based rom. Its pretty dam fast, not sure about battery life with the faux kernel though. Though am still running in a new battery
ARHD 3.6.0 XE is faster than all the previous versions.. I love it!
+1.

The benchmark scores might be better, but Revolution HD used to be faster in every day usage... It lags on home screens now :\
I tried it on two different Sensations.
I'll try Pyramid3D now.
I've heard that the XE based ROMs have a problem with CPU1 being turned off for most of the time, causing the slow down in performance.
No one has confirmed this yet though, but my benchmarks are really crappy compared to pre-XE based ROMs.
I'm just using the stock rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1262539 by EddyOS
Got bored of using custom roms with the faux kernel as it seems to annihilate the battery and I got bored of having to do battery pulls because the phone would suddenly just not work!
The above rom works fine, stable and fast enough
Cheers for the recommendation
Could be mods for pre-XE ROMs don't work as well but I'm sure that's not it. I've had no issues with mine tho, altho I do use Show's 'Bricked' kernel

You're welcome
I got an anker battery to help with the battery performance, but after flashing ARHD,InsertCoin and CoreDroid, my battery life became worse than the HTC Battery. It was fine prior to the introduction of all these different Kernels.
Now I'm back on stock, it's much better, so thanks again
I have an anker battery and am running ARHD 3.6 and it runs fast, lasts a bit longer than my stock ROM, and is much nicer than stock. I use TMO 4G in the US, and the speeds I get on this rom now are much higher than they ever were on stock.

What we mean is when comparing XE based custom ROMs with pre XE based custom ROMs.
My phone shut down all of a sudden in a call and wouldnt boot unless i removed the batter and retried. Also batter life seems a bit lower with XE ROM ( 3.1.1 vs 3.5.2)
No lie, it does feel slower, and for some reason more bloated. I wish dev's would drop it or make the regular one and the XE rom, then again it's a lot more work but still.
i personally don't benchmark so i'm not sure how xe roms are compared to pre-xe in that department, but from experimental use (give or take a few days on it) the InsertCoin XE rom (using the bricked kernel) was one of the smoothest sense roms i've used, but that's just me.

After flashing several 3.0 and 3.5 ROMS I have to say the Virtuous ROM is very stable. I've had no problems, lags or FCs.
I have not tried any ICS ROMS so can't comment on their stability.

I have three nandroids of Roms that I use, all of which are pretty good:
Virtuous Sensation - has most Sense
HyperNonSense - has a little Sense
RevertedAOSP - zero Sense, stock Android
My daily driver is RevertedAOSP because it is fast, solid, and with a few tweaks does everything I need it to do.
Good stuff.
Thanks guys

Anyways, I'm using webstar1's Ultimite ROM. Very smooth when compared to the other sense based roms. pretty much is AOSP, except for the Dialler/Contacts and camera apps. would recommend, very stable, hadn't had one FC yet. :]

Android Revolution HD (currently im using the 3.6.8 version see my signature) is good. It's stable and it's just like the stock ROM only more tweaked and overclocked to 1.5GHz. Despite that all the battery life is longer than the stock ROM itself while performance improves, so I would recommend you this ROM.
Must say that I haven't tried other ROMS yet (only the ARHD ICS ROM once, but after 30 minutes playing around I was bored so put it back to 2.3 with nandroid backup)
I just flashed Virtuous ICS 1.3.0 today and so far, while certainly beta, looks really stable! Unless something creeps out of the corners, looks like this will be my new daily driver for a while.

Well, have flashed twice daily, since I owned the Sensation a couple weeks back, tried every rom in the android forum, a couple of roms i feel are rock solid stable, not force closing once, and a nice amount of battery, they are LeeDroids rom and CoreDroid rom, thats my opinion only, and for you just keep flashing, I also too am not a fan (yet) of ICS roms....... what am I using now???? see my signature
I'm trying to avoid having to read through 50,000 posts because the ARHD thread has gotten a bit unweildy...
I'm currently running ARHD 3.6.5.
As you can tell it's been a while since updating and honestly I was waiting around for a stable ICS remix.
At any rate can anyone clue me in on where the scene is at? I see there's different versions of ICS available for ARHD; are they worth while, daily drivers or should I just update my sense ARHD to the current version?
mike1986 said that the current base used for 6.2.1 XE might be close to final. I'm using 6.2.1 XE as a daily driver, without issues.
If you flash this ROM make sure you also flash the correct firmware.
Thanks for the reply.
Did you install the 1.2 or 1.5Ghz version and/or is there a noticeable difference in performance AND battery life? I'm more interested in battery honestly. I'm not much of a power user and I don't stream or watch videos on this really.
Also, is a Super Wipe necessary?

Battery life on ICS sense is amazing for me compared to GB literaly get almost double the batterylife . It sucks though cuz I feel that sense 3.0 is way smoother and faster so I switched back till a new leak is released. Everyone says that sense 3.6 is faster and smoother than 3.0 though :/

Hit the report button on the right side.
CoreDroid, there are reports of well over 48 hours on light/medium use
Sense-o-Maniac ROMs are working great for me. Or at least the gingerbread versions.
I am still hooked on ENERGY, it is stable, fast and the battery lasts the whole day and that is good because I am a Power User and with stock ROM I was down to 25-30% battery by 11:30 in the morning.
It is Gingerbread, but the Chef is working on ICS now
the ARHD 6.2.1 use 70ma in average in idle (measured with battery monitor)
We could compare the values in idle to start à comparison between roms
its difficult to say,
it depends on your usage of your phone
and its not only the rom, with other kernels and oc/uv deamons you are able to extend the battery life more
for my self, im using elegancia 2.3 and get about 55mA in idle
but thats with set-cpu-profiles and the SebationFM#1 kernel

I'm a bit unimpressed with this phone, (Sensation XE) Sense crashes often when you press the home button and goes through the process of re springing etc, If I hold the phone at the bottom cell signal disappears, if I hold it at the top wifi disappears, battery life is poor, it struggles to last a day and in general use for a phone with 1.5ghz dual core process and 768mb ram it feels sluggish for some reason, RAM is also almost full all the time even when I kill everything. I get the impression is can't handle sense 3.6, My old Desire felt much quicker, and the SGS2 blows this out of the water. I am not rooted or anything at the moment, just running ICS and 3.6, It shipped with ICS so don't know what GB was like on this device. In quadrant I can't even get 2000, most I have seen is 1900, my SGS2 gets 3200+
Would a rom make this phone better or is eBay the best option.
Fot real. Stock ICS is pretty rubbish. Stick an Anker innit and load up ARHD. If u get rid of Sense it will free up RAM. ARHD also have pption when installing to keep Launcher in Memory if RAM is maxed out.
Load up Faux, SebastianFM or, my fav, Bricked kernel to get optimized CPU processing.
This should make ur phone twice better.
Beamed from my Senny..
Stock can be a nightmare sometimes. Let it be known a few things though:
1) A new rom won't help your reception issues. Sorry
2) Quadrant scores do not reflect real-world performance and should be ignored. My Senny's faster than my friend's GNex (AOKP) and my other friend's SGSII (Stock) but the quadrant scores say otherwise.
3) The Sense launcher dying thing is always fixed when installing a custom rom. It comes from carriers (and HTC) bloating up the OS too much and the launcher being killed to keep room for applications open. Most custom roms will force the launcher in the memory, circumventing the issue.
That being said, "root it, flash it, enjoy it".
Yes! My crashing stopped never to return again after I rooted s off and installed custom rom. I am totally convinced that custom Roms can be far more stable than stock Roms! Never have I once had the restarting issue on custom rom. You will see the difference immediately.

i couldn't go back to sense.
I'm going to be the one to go against the grain here...
If you don't like a device to begin with then I don't think a new rom will make you love it. You may find it tolerable, but in the end you will most likely be dissapointed overall.
You're best off finding a device that you really like, and then improving upon it...
Grogg is likely correct, if you don't like it now, you'll probably still be unhappy with whatever you do to it. Best to sell it and get something that makes You happy. Everyone is different with different opinions and tastes . As for me, I LOVE my device and truly enjoy modifying it in different ways. I'm very interested in this kind of thing but others might see that differently.so yes It's best just to find something you like. Good luck and hope you find something your happy with!
Sent from my Sensation 4G using xda premium
Well before selling your device you loose nothing to give it a try a custom rom !
I remember i hated stock gb to death and was a little bit deceived by my purchase but i did flash a custom rom and honestly im keeping this phone until my contract ends...

Ok thought I would update this, I spent the weekend making it S-OFF and installing ORDroid 9.
The phone still feels like its struggling, Quadrant only shows slightly over 2000, the Desire HD gets higher and its single core.
WiFi reception now seems a bit better, but cell reception is still very poor, No signal most of the time at home, most other phones I've had give 2 bars min.
And battery life is still shockingly bad, 10% per hour in stand by, and in 10 mins setting it up etc I lost 10%.
Not sure what to try now, I think Sense 3.6/4 may be a factor here. The phone struggles with it.
Strange because here is my last quardent test on ordroid as you can see its in the 4,000's what kernel are you running? I'm using same Rom and look at my score? You say you scored a 2,000? Don't know what Kernel I have, I didn't change anything so just whatever came with Ordroid as standard
During installation we had choices on the Aroma installer also it asked what your goal is like performance, battery saver, ext.next time during install pay close attention to what Aroma is asking you because. It gives the ability to under or over clock ext. I just used default but I choose "bad ass " bricked kernel
Aroma gives lots of options during install and you can focus on performance if you like. Hope this helps out. If you want to reinstall you can really look at the options closely and change it to help the performance. Best of luck! Have a great day!

Hi guys
I'm from the HTC EVO 3D section of the forum and I know this question is usually frowned upon but recently my sister's phone (Sensation XE) has become laggy as hell and very buggy. She's come from an iphone and is not used to this kinda stuff and has no idea about rooting/custom roms, etc. So I have offered to borrow her phone for a day or two and root it/put on a custom ROM for her which will hopefully sort out these problems and give credence to my claim that Android is better than iOS.
The reason I'm asking this question is because I just don't have the time to test out different ROMS. I need to root it and put one on as soon as pos and then give the phone back to her. (She doesn't live with me so I can't be changing ROMS all the time for her, and she needs her phone urgently)
What I am looking for is recommendations on a very fast and stable ROM with good battery life? Preferably Sense 4.0 but if that is too buggy/battery hog, then I'm fine with Sense 3.6. Just need it to be snappy and as stable as possible because I won't be around much to tweak it and sort out loadza problems if they arise in the future.
Thanks in advanced for your help.
Sense 4.0 looks good but it's not very good with battery (i get max 7-8 hours from it). So i'd recommend a Sense 3.6 ROM.
My favourite and the most stable one i know is ARHD

Hi there, It's really best to have your sister try out SEVERAL different roms then make a choice.we have so many great roms to choose from and is really a matter of personal taste as to which one to use .do her a favor and let her experience different ones and choose what she liked best ! I'm running viper right now and I love the customization options, but it's always best to try out SEVERAL then have her choose. Hope this helps. Best wishes to you both I do hope you take this advice. It's really best to form your own personal opinion when it comes to roms.

Vipers 1.1.0 is the best sense 4.0 rom out there. It has great tweaks and it is stable.your sis may not like cm9 or aokp.Go for viper
Viper or a few other sense 4 roms are a good choice...
Cheers for the help guys.. Will be sure to check those roms out.
@ realsis - Cheers for the suggestion, and I know what you mean, but in this case it is extremely unlikely to happen. She doesn't have the time or desire in testing out loadza different roms. This is probably why the iphone is better for most people because you're given a fast and simple OS, and everything just works and is super smooth. Most people are happy with that and rightly so. Personally I'll spend ages looking for the "perfect" rom, but the reality is that most people just don't care.
No pun intended but also lack the experience in flashing rom's and kernel I would suggest a rooted stock Rom for now and let her play around with so she will get used to it and then later on go a little more advanced and then let her take it out for spin to see how she likes it oh keep in mind even on a rooted stock Rom there's no lag like it is on a stock Rom that isn't rooted and for the kernel check out this one for the kernel and there's mod that go's with it as well im running it now and its awesome here's the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432211

Word of warning: viperS is a great sense 4 ROM, its wonderful, but install a different kernel. The bricked kernel that comes with the ROM causes it to lag. The viper thread is filled with people suffering lag on it. I suggest seb's (link in Sig) or faux123's. Faux's forces both cpu's online so it may be a bit worse for battery, but I can't make that call, others seem to do well with it.
If you still have doubts, ARHD sense 3.6 will give the best stock appearance without the lag.

May have to go for that one then. Like I said, she has no interest in swapping around and flashing ROMS, so it'll very much likely be a one time job with no testing of others.
