Reboots after small drops - HTC Sensation

I just got my sensation and am loving it!
Unfortunately I discovered the phone is very sensitive to shocks / dropping. I've dropped it from my laptop which is just a few centimeters, after some other small drops it reboots itself.
Is it just my phone or is it a common problem?

Not on mine... I dropped mine 24 inches high but no reset... Dropped a couple of times... Just make sure the battery is secure in its place.... If the battery is loose that might be the problem. Make sure the back cover is not loose too...

I tried to reproduce it and it seems to happen when it lands flat on the screen. Dropped from 3cm / 1 inch so loose battery seems unlikely.

If batt is loose u can use paper and fold it to pinch it between the body and the battery. I had a sidekick years ago where the spring inside the sd card holder broke. Glued paper to the case and it held it in place.

Just exchange it while its still early.... Must be the parts inside...

yeah probably something wrong with your phone, I hate to say this.. but I'd exchange incase. I've dropped mine (only once ever) about 5 feet high

Ive never dropped a phone (will today since im saying this) except a mytouch 4g white on launch day walking out of tmobile. Screen shattered. They replaced it thank god.

Effects of water getting in USB port / headphone jack?

Hi all,
What are the effects of water getting in USB port, headphone jack.
Any noticeable symptoms?

Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App

it'll probably be disastrous, after all electronics & water don't mix
liquid ingress
Main things I've noticed is that wen you press home 'Burton's it brings up clock lol, worked its way out after a while! Lol
Hope it helped
x
I'm note sure but i have always heard that you have to put wet devices in dry rice to get better chances that they dry out ok, you can always check Google for it but i think i read it on lifehacker some time ago

[Q] LCD Ghosting?

Hi all, I moved form galaxy s to sensation and been wondering about screen ghosting. Is every sensation have this ghosting when circle through the screen and scrolling? This is not happen in galaxy s at all. Sensation is great (fast, stable, love sense 3.0) but this bug me a little.
I have this issue. Its really annoying, some users call it tearing..dont know proper word. It can be clearly seen when scrolling white text on black background. Black text on white background is not so bad but overall screen is low quality by my opinion. Terrible viewing angles also. My old desire has alslo slcd but its much better quality. Another issue can be seen when browsing xda forums trough browser..when scrolling whole screen is changing colors, blinking slightly..Will wait for new nexus and then I will sell it..
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
Its called screen tearing yes, the pixel response time from a color change or screen movement causes this effect. The sensation has different screens but from my observation all have the ghosting effect, but its only noticeable with black pixel change, some colors can be harder to change rapidly against other colors and it seems to be the case with the sensation screen.
hmm ... I've been using my sensation for 3 months now, ... never had screen tearing. Maybe you can ask for a replacement?

I certainly do not have this problem. Even when scrolling a white text on a black background (like in settings), the text is still very sharp and clear
AFAIK, Sensations' LCDs are manufactured by few different companies.
There are "good batch" and "poor batch" sensations, similar to any other htc's smartphones (eg: HD7)
I have read about few people having this problem in this forum. Try getting a replacement, Hopefully, that one wont be having this issue anymore
I have used 6 Sensations. Four of them had this problem and all four displays were the one made by Acer. It was very noticeable in the settings menu. The two Sharp panels my wife and I have do not do this.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
Is this definitely hardware issue? Not a smallest chance it can be fixed with some update? anyway htc sucks producing "good" and "bad" batches..

It's hardware. not really an "Issue" .... just lower quality displays compared to other ones.

My Sharp panel has this problem. Just pointing this out so that people won't think getting a Sharp screen will automatically solve the issue.

Every screen does to certain extent even my iPad ips panel has some ghosting. The acer panel on the sensation definitely shows it more than the sharp though

never got that in sgs which is last year model. that's y i am a bit annoyed as i upgrade not downgrade.
my cousin's sensation has this ghosting its really bad, the screen response time is very low anything higher then 30FPS will revel bad ghosting
my desire Hd has very slight ghosting
my old classic desire SLCD/Amoled screen had non of this
sensation XL has an amazing IPS screen with very high response time
so i dont know, lets hope HTC learned how bad this is, ICS is 60fps GPU accelerated UI, low response screens are not welcome
hard to believe we are discussing LCD response times in this time and age, i wanted to buy my cousin's sensation but now i stopped
oh and by the way the HD2 4.3" have non of the ghosting or pattern issues what the hell?!

This... just took apart a defective LCD I got from China. It's an Acer brand unit that looks fuzzy as if there's a film on the screen.
I had a Sensation when they first came out (Sharp screen) and knew I had a new faulty LCD the minute I turned this one on. Needless to say is going back and I'm in the hunt for a Sharp unit. Not worried about dust as I'm going seal it up real good when i finish the repair
Lol I've opened this phone up so many times in the last couple days i can swap screens perfectly in less than 20 mins from start to finish
Yes i can agree i have never had this problem either

squeaking noise

Hi all,
I've just got my sensation and love it but when I press the screen a bit harder then usual it makes a squeaking noise. It feels very cheap especially for a high end new phone, do others have this experience or is it just my phone?
Jason.
My phone does this now too. But only because I've pulled the backing off so many times. Due to hanging and when I first started to get to the bootloader. Which I no longer have to due because of the ROM.

Nice to know I am not the only one! I thought mine was because I have the 1900mah Anker battery which is a bit wider..
I get this also, and it also happened after i took the back off multiple times. This problem seems to come and go though, and is fixed when i put on my tpu case, probably because it squeezes the body to the phone better.
I feel like the left bottom corner of my sensation can be pushed down as if it wasn't securely fitted.
My senny started to get all the issue problem like others get. Dust below screen, power button issue & soon i believe the squeaking noise!!
:'(

hmm its a pity I'm not the only one, do you think this is an issue that will be addressed by htc when I confront them with it. I to have a loads of dust under the casing within a day, use pressured air to blast it out.
Before my sensation I owned a legend which seemed to be of better building quality

This actually has to do with the case of the phone but a question about the software that the connections on the case are used for. I know the htc sensation case that is for the over seas version with the beats audio symbol on the back is not the same as the U.S htc sensation 4g, but fits the U.S htc sensation 4g though is missing the what i think is a grounding connection for what some say may be a gps type of signal for the phone. Does anyone know what that missing connection actually is. I was also wondering if i use very precise materials to cut out the connection on my old phone case and bond it to the new case beats case, will this supply enough of whatever connection the phone needs from that goldish colored substance that the phones prongs connect to. The beats audio case even has a square mark the exact same size as the piece it is missing that is on the U.S version of the phone.

Well the missing connection will be the 4g antenna. But I'm not sure as I have a white xe cover for my normal sensation and it has an extra antenna built into it.

Not true. I have the XE cover on my 4G and I get 5 to 8 mbits whereas before I got 5 to 8 mbits.
The extra antenna on the Sensation 4G is for A-GPS and doesn't actually effect GPS aside from it locking maybe ten seconds slower.
Ohhhh thanks for clearing that up.

Hi. Did you drop your fon? If yes, remove the batti, put fon in a water tight container and freeze overnight. Careful to let fon warm up before you reinserting batti. The shape of the mark will change, YMMV. Then wait 5-7 weeks, marks will fade.
If no, deal it quick!

I got same looking defect my Sensation's screen after i dropped it. Lines like that started spreading over half of screen for a few days and then all of that just dissapeared. That happened more than a 1.5 years ago and same screen stills works flawlessly.
