you can flash a stock recovery and stock ROM with the following directions:
theunlockr DOT com/2011/05/23/how-to-unroot-the-t-mobile-g2x
i don't think the manufacturer's warranty covers cracked screens. unless you have the tmobile warranty for accidental damage and stuff.

I dropped my phone this morning and cracked the screen. (this was my fourth one and was perfect)I placed a claim with asurion and a new phone will be out to me tomorrow. My question is since the replacement is coming due to badly cracked screen does Asurion care whether or not the device is rooted and s off and on a custom rom? I have a backup I made right after root and cwm recovery of the stock rom. If I just restore the backup and perhaps flash the stock recovery img will that be good enough? I sure appreciate any and all help and input!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No. Thats only if it becomes bricked and you have to send it back to HTC

Thanks for the reply. It takes a load off of my mind. I will probably restore stock backup I made right after s off and cwm recovery installation. Just want to make sure though-- are you positive about this? I hit the thanks button/
I have restored my phone back to stock rom.(restored the backup made right afer s off and root and cwm recovery.) I have s off and cwm recovery. I need to send the phone in shortly(I dropped it on a tennis court and really did a number on the screen)Asurion has already replaced my phone for which I paid $130.00 I want to at least get it unrooted and back to stock recovery to help eliminate chances of them trying to gouge me for 269.00 more. I believe the s off could be explained (some were shipped that way). Any and all help is appreciated. If someone could point me to a link for the stock recovery and guidance in how to apply it(what method etc.) and also how to unroot. Also has any others found that they could return it rooted etc and there was no problem with it? I have had one other mention this to me but just want to be sure.

u sure u can send back it for warranty? if u drop it means its customer fault..so ur warranty cant be claimed..and if u want to repair ur screen and u foot the bill of ur screen cost, you no need to worry of ur custom rom, rooted or those crap thing coz u pay them to repair the screen and not do it for free
EDIT: im staying at Asia..but im sure warranty claim is the same for all country..correct me if wrong

Hi is using insurance not warranty.
That would interest me too. I haven't yet s-off, but I intend to. The thing is that I need to send it for warranty repair, but can't do it right now cause I need the phone for the next few weeks. In the meantime I would like to enjoy s-off, can & root, but I wish there was a step by step guide to revert everything.
Actually full guide available here

Would an insurance policy for accidental damage care about the phone software?
It would be funny if eg they refused payment for water damage becuase I was rooted! ;-)
Im sure you are trying to cover all bases to stop them weasling out of paying...
I was flashing back to the stock rom and now Bootlooped, unable to enter download mode or recovery. I'm within in my manufacturer warranty period. If I return it to T-mobile in order to receive an immediate replacement, how likely is it that samsung would consider it Out of Warranty due to rooting and what not?
Not sure how warranty works but you can try it. I've heard that sometimes the download screen doesn't pop up but odin recognizes ot. Try that before anything.
You root you void warrenty. Unless you flashed a different model rom you can most likely bring it back to life.

Follow 1 of many of the boot loader debricking guides. They should work.
I want to send my phone in for a repair on the prox/amb sensor that never really worked, whats the best thing to do to ensure no problems due to me being rooted and running custom roms. Do they replace the phone straight away at all or do you have to get it sent away for repair.
Should i unroot and reinstall default rom ?

Well they're definitely gonna do some tests on the phone but to be safe, put it back to as stock as how you got it out of the box.
Hey guys so i received a warrantied phone trough verizon that came with 4.3, i ended up doing the safestrap root method and got it rooted,After a few days i came to realize that the lock bootloaded to me is a big deal and will be returning the phone they sent out to me over this. The problem im facing is whats the best way to take this phone back to stock/unroot. Should i use ODIN with 4.3 stock images or will that brick the phone?
unlocked bootloaders equal choices!

Boot back into your STOCK ROM slot (you do this from the Safetrap Recovery) then uninstall SafeTrap. You can then do a factory reset and you'll be back to the 4.3 no-root or no Safetrap.
yeah i have a minor crack on my screen, barley noticeable, and don't want to get my phone replaced cuz of that.
