I have restored my phone back to stock rom.(restored the backup made right afer s off and root and cwm recovery.) I have s off and cwm recovery. I need to send the phone in shortly(I dropped it on a tennis court and really did a number on the screen)Asurion has already replaced my phone for which I paid $130.00 I want to at least get it unrooted and back to stock recovery to help eliminate chances of them trying to gouge me for 269.00 more. I believe the s off could be explained (some were shipped that way). Any and all help is appreciated. If someone could point me to a link for the stock recovery and guidance in how to apply it(what method etc.) and also how to unroot. Also has any others found that they could return it rooted etc and there was no problem with it? I have had one other mention this to me but just want to be sure.

u sure u can send back it for warranty? if u drop it means its customer fault..so ur warranty cant be claimed..and if u want to repair ur screen and u foot the bill of ur screen cost, you no need to worry of ur custom rom, rooted or those crap thing coz u pay them to repair the screen and not do it for free
EDIT: im staying at Asia..but im sure warranty claim is the same for all country..correct me if wrong

Hi is using insurance not warranty.
That would interest me too. I haven't yet s-off, but I intend to. The thing is that I need to send it for warranty repair, but can't do it right now cause I need the phone for the next few weeks. In the meantime I would like to enjoy s-off, can & root, but I wish there was a step by step guide to revert everything.
Actually full guide available here

Would an insurance policy for accidental damage care about the phone software?
It would be funny if eg they refused payment for water damage becuase I was rooted! ;-)
Im sure you are trying to cover all bases to stop them weasling out of paying...

I was doing a odin one click restore from continuum rom, and it went through and said successfull but blackscreen brick on reboot...
so after trying every trick in the book, i got it to come on in download mode using a jig but of course odin didnt see it so i had no choice but to try again..
well after days of trying to get it back into DL mode, i contact samsung, and find out my phone is under warantee. so i send it in, and then a week later get an email saying: "Oh hai we r dun with ur phonez and sendin it bak to u"
of course im thinking sweet my phone will work... nope they put on the work order that my phone was beyond repair, and then put a little purple square piece of paper in the box with it that said "=P warantee void for unauthorized updates"
So unfortunately now i have no choice but to use my stupid iphone

There is a member floating around the forum who might be able to help you out with a JTAG flash for your phone, or you could look into trying your hand at it yourself. Just search for JTAG and I'm sure you'll find some help.

Okay first of all you posted in the wrong section. Next time please post in the Q&A if you have any problems/questions .
Does your phone turn on at all? Like to the Phone+!+PC screen?
my bad it was more of a comment than a question, hence the absence of question marks, I know what needs to be done to fix it, jtag, unless one of these new things theyre discovering with the uart, etc... happens to perform a miracle..
but no its black screen bricked, and that after a "successful" odin flash. The phone does turn on though cuz it gets warm.
Everyone knows flashing voids your warranty. Time to buy a new phone.
yea except for the flash that bricked the phone was a stock rom so i was hoping they wouldnt say it was void because of it
There are a million warnings on this site that flashing voids your warranty and may brick your phone.
When you decided to mess around with flashing you should have known this could happen.
dude im not stupid, i know that flashing voids your warranty. There is also a million people who have gotten new phones from bricks after flashing under warranty replacement.
Trying to get samsung to fix it under warranty is fraud and is illegal. Posting about it on here is evidence of the crime.
If you wanted your phone to have a warranty you shouldn't have flashed it.
I told them i flashed it... as i said, i was flashing it to stock anyway when it died. Either way no fraud was committed, i called them trying to see if i could just buy a new motherboard, theyre the ones that told me the phone was under warranty and to send it in.
So sorry mr lawyerpants for doing what i was told.
Well enjoy your brick just the same.

Why in gods earth would you admit flashing anything?

Personally the fun illegal warranty claim on a bricked phone is to open it up loosen the heatsink and take a soldering iron to the CPU well the phone is stuck on boot...
I of course have never done this as my phones CPU exploded for legitimate reasons... ;-P

Shouldve just said that your were updating to the offical froyo via kies. And kies told you to put you're phone into download mode (It does say that in the instructions somewhere as a second option.) And that you were doing the offical flash and the phone fell off your table and caused the usb to disconnect. Then the phone wouldn't boot...

I would like you to try something for me. I was having an issue very similar to this. remove your battery and then reinsert it without turning the phone on. plug the phone in as if to charge. Leave it on the charger for several hours. Then try to use odin 3 click, and post your results. May be a lost cause but if it has the slightest chance to save your phone, it deserves a shot.
You fail, should have read the instructions correctly on how to flash.

Thats actually what i told them i was flashing, i guess they figured out i was lying since it was the stock odin flash.
or maybe since it was the stock odin flash and we arent supposed to have odin?

Thanks, I guess I missed the part in the instructions where i was supposed to click more than one button in odin one click to flash my phone to stock. Ill be sure to read more closely next time.
I dropped my phone this morning and cracked the screen. (this was my fourth one and was perfect)I placed a claim with asurion and a new phone will be out to me tomorrow. My question is since the replacement is coming due to badly cracked screen does Asurion care whether or not the device is rooted and s off and on a custom rom? I have a backup I made right after root and cwm recovery of the stock rom. If I just restore the backup and perhaps flash the stock recovery img will that be good enough? I sure appreciate any and all help and input!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No. Thats only if it becomes bricked and you have to send it back to HTC

Thanks for the reply. It takes a load off of my mind. I will probably restore stock backup I made right after s off and cwm recovery installation. Just want to make sure though-- are you positive about this? I hit the thanks button/
I want to send my phone in for a repair on the prox/amb sensor that never really worked, whats the best thing to do to ensure no problems due to me being rooted and running custom roms. Do they replace the phone straight away at all or do you have to get it sent away for repair.
Should i unroot and reinstall default rom ?

Well they're definitely gonna do some tests on the phone but to be safe, put it back to as stock as how you got it out of the box.
Dumb question.
Rooting still voids warranty here correct?

Can root be obtained on a sumsung device without unlocking?
My tf700 could be rooted, and then unlocked if you wanted. THis would be nice, cause you could root, but if needing to send it in, you could remove the root.

Yes. Samsung devices can usually be fully returned to stock.
The bootloader is fully unlocked, with the exception of the flash counter which tracks how many times you've flashed custom recoveries or kernels in download mode. However, on most other devices it is now known how to reset that counter - fairly sure we'll be able to reset this one as well. It's top of my priorities list.
Officially rooting voids your warranty, but that policy may be illegal in the United States due to the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act.
I'm really liking the looks of this! :good:
So glad I returned my TF700 for this beauty. It's supposed to be here by UPS within the next hour. :fingers-crossed:
Because Samsung devices have Odin you can almost always return to 100% stock unless u really mess something up. If entropy figures out the counter reset for us then we will really be set. Then if you need to go back to stock for a warranty claim you should be OK as long as it powers on and can get to download mode.

And if you really mess something up I've heard that 5 seconds in a microwave oven is enough so that the repair center won't be able to tell if the device have been rooted or not...

Counter reset is a go - I'm going to release tonight since that's a critical feature, although until I fix the wifi derpiness people will probably want to flash back to a stock kernel afterwards. (e.g. flash custom recovery, flash custom kernel, reset counter, flash stock kernel, keep custom recovery.)
After I up rom trickdoid 7.1 for both version of One S, my phone cant log into normal condition. after a few steps unlock and relock the bootloader, my phone cant operate anything else. I send to repair but it not in the warranty.. I keep send to other place to repair but they say no LCD screen to replace. Now I got my phone back like a black brick. I got no idea to have my phone back in normal condition. any recommend will be appreciate to me. I live in Kingsbury 3083 Victoria Australia.
Does your Htc work? You must flash TrickDroid 1.0.0 for your VilleC2

I not clear what you mean? I had hear that the Fonebiz told me that 350$ for new main board. But I dont think that is need for my phone cause at that price I can buy another. If someone have any idea or solution please help me.Cause I wait for the repair nearly 6 weeks from now.. It problem happen on 17/8
I'm not sure what you mean , did this happen as a result of you flashing an s4 Rom or did this happen after it was sent for repair ? You have no warranty , I would figure an Aussie would have better command of English , right mate ?

Yes I just an international student come to Au for study. it is the result I flash rom trick roid version 7.1( say suitable for s3 and s4). After I cannot do anything after the install rom process I try to lock the bootloader to take repair from the services( hope it work but it not) the phone shut down and no more signal to come normal state
Only trickdroid 1.0.0 is compatible with s3 , there is a separate link for that , if you can boot to recovery just flash that rom , if you can't try to boot to fastboot and reflash a compatible s3 recovery , you will need the compatible s3 twrp recovery ....try this

This sounds like your motherboard is dead. If you have warranty, then I suggest you to take the phone to service and just act dumb . You just make something up, like you were talking and the phone frozen, then you've tried to reboot it, and after that the phone just won't start any more. You've got nothing to loose.
thanks for your suggestion. but I have do it and they know that not in the warranty. they say replace the main board need 350$AUD. that why I take my phone back cause I can buy another just 500$ now. I try to find other solution to this issue here

I have encountered a problem before where my battery was totally dead, wouldn't charge nothing. I would plug it into the charger and the orange light would come on to indicate that it was charging but only for a few seconds and then go off again. I'm just wondering if you have the same problem as I know a possible workaround for this.
Thanks for you suggest but I get the problem by bootloader not because the battery( my phone is 1 month new)
Could anyone help me with this problem please
Is there anyone know this??? Please help me
I think it's save to say, that you need a new phone/mainboard for it. I would've read more about the S3 ROMs before flashing anything.
