I have Treo 750 running WM6 ATT ROM everything seems great i show E for EDGE I set up internet and mms and all works. I do have one issue, when i test my speeds on dslreports i am only getting about 68k shouldnt i get faster speeds on Edge? I know someone else with T Mobile and he tests his BB Pearl and gets about 300K or so, why am i getting so slow speeds? He is sitting next to me with TMOBILE?

BTW I am connecting through wap.voicestream.com with no user or password, and I have tried internet2.voicestream.com but that one stops connecting after a while! Please help just want better speeds and think I should be getting them.

NOW I lost internet all together it just sits on opening and when I try internet2.voicestream.com it says modem not answered and im using GPRS / G3 setting. I have the T mobile web package for 599. grrr
I only get 106kbit from DSL Reports on my Treo 750 on T-Mobile. I'm in the Dallas, TX area and I have the old 19.99 internet add-on (however, as is frequently discussed, this should make no difference in speed). Also using wap.voicestream.com.

Are you using WM6? I just upgraded to WM6 and love it, but now my internet is not working at all! I am using wap.voicestream.com and i have tried internet2.voicestream.com and neither work, internet2 tells me the connection hung up. wap connects but wont load any websites it just sits on opening. Does anyone have an idea? Also i am leaving user name and password blank should I be putting something in there?

This maybe a silly question, but have you tried to soft reset your TREO and then try to reconnect? I had some issues in the beginning where only a soft reset would bring back internet connectivity. I am in the Silicon Valley area in CA and I get >550Kb/s.

Yea I have pushed the reset button atleast 15 times, are you using WM6? Wow 550KB on Tmobile? Im in Phoenix area and hit Edge but never that fast.
I just want the internet to work now!
there is no way he is using EDGE at that speed. its HSPDA because its over 384kps... so its at&t

Thats what I thought! So any idea on why my internet is not working at all now?
I am in EDGE finally got my internet to work, and exchange to work with T Mobile. I have the total internet pack. My speeds are so slow in the EDGE network on dslreports i only get 38Kbps and that sucks all pages are slow to load, and when i use phone as a modem it is slower than dial up. Is there something I need to do to fix this? im using wap.voicestream.com no user and password. Please let me know this is driving me nutts!

If you're using the T-Zones $5.99 data plan internet2 and vpn APNs won't work for you. You'll need to use the wap APN. And you'll also need to set a proxy.
I have an LG Optimus Quantum, and for some very weird reason, the wifi is very slow. I have daily access to 2 wifi networks, home and work, and the phone behaves the same on both. Generally, in order to watch youtube or any other streaming video, I have to turn the wifi OFF or else the video never loads (or in rare cases where the video is small, it will eventually load).
The phone is not unlocked or anything, and I have had it for 4 months and it has always behaved this way.
My home network gets speeds of 17mb/s on a wifi laptop.
Using 3g right I am getting 120, 224, 224, 130 & 156 kb/s using Speedtest app after doing 5 consecutive tests.
Wifi tests 112, 130, 130, 142 & 130 kb/s using Speedtest app (to perform wifi test, I put the phone into airplane mode, then start wifi connection).
Anyone have any input here?
Could be a problem with the firmware? But I think that must be device specific because I haven't noticed that at all (Samsung Omnia 7).
Guess you'll have to see what fellow Optimus users are experiencing.
EDIT: Actually, I downloaded the Speed Test app and my WiFi download speeds ~300KB/s (apparently). Then did a speed test over my WiFi on my laptop and got ~2Mb/s (eventhough it's supposed to be a lot faster than that). So...?

Same for my HD7. My 3Mb/s DSL WiFi signal averages around 2500Kb/s on my iPhone, HD2 and PC. But on my HD7, the best I can get is around 300Kb/s speed with SpeedTest. It's the same for the data as well. And it isn't anything to do with the carrier.
EDIT - Actually I'm wrong, it's much slower than that. I was paying attention to the bar number and didn't notice the average number upon completion. Mine shows around 200Kb/s. One test was 191Kb/s and another was 212Kb/s.
I noticed this too with the Wifi at work.
At home the wifi is definately faster than 3g but at work the wifi is so slow i just turn it off and use 3g.
Does anyone think that there is a setting in the MFG menu we can adjust that would help?

Weird. I get my full 10Mbit speeds on my home internet, and full speeds at work and everywhere else I get WiFi. Much faster than the 3G, which gets around 2.3Mbit down on average.
I've got an HTC Surround on AT&T.
the speedtest app in the marketplace got horrible reviews, gonna try BandWidth and see how it does. Right now I'm on my mobile hotspot at work so I should be able to get a clean test as I'm the only one on it.
I have used mobilespeedtest.com in the past but heard it can be inaccurate too.
To the OP, I haven't had any wifi issues. Videos start faster on my home wifi (20mbps), than on my hspa+ t-mobile signal.
Ok, the BandWidth app (free in the marketplace) seems pretty accurate. On first run, I got 590 kbps which is consistent with time warner (aka sprint network) 3g mobile hotspot speeds. Really wish I got 3g t-mobile signal in my office....
I really think this free BandWidth app is fairly accurate.
Just did another test, this time using my mobile hotspot on 4g and speeds came back:
2.7 mbps down
0.47 mbps up
This is consistent with the crappy 4g speeds on sprint (what a disappointment wimax has turned out to be, but still much better than sprint 3g...)

It only works on cellular data networks. I'm needing to test the WiFi speed on my WP7. But, of course, I'm just using the trial version. Maybe the retail version works with WiFi.
Visiting tracert.org via IE on Wifi I tested as 6.18 Mbps (about half the 12 Mbps I achieve on my PC). On 3G I scored 1.74 Mbps in my house which doesn't exactly get the best reception.
This is on a US TMobile HD7.
I get 1,80Mbps on Wi-fi, when I get ~13Mbps on PC. It's poor I have to say, comparing my previous phones.

Nice! Thanks for the link, mate. My HD7 rang in at 2.61Mb/s. Which is exactly what it should be.
I've noticed this also especially in IE. Xda loads up much faster on my 3G than my WiFi. I also notice that is I turn off the 3G and use edge and WiFi it seems that the speeds should be at where they should be at using a WiFi connection. If I have WiFi and 3G on at the same time the speeds are slower....
Testest Tracert.org on my Focus & my Nexus One.
Focus:
3G: 856kbps download
WiFi: 1.4Mbps
Nexus One:
3G: 1.43Mbps
WiFi: 3.94Mbps

Have you tried to update the phone, even if you just got it but this could be some kind glitch on the software which could easily be fixed by doing an update.

I agree, it could be easily fixed by an update if there was an update with the glitch fixed or any update for the Arc at all. I have since found that the wifi connectivity problem is caused by encryption. The Arc can handle WEP but using WPA or WPA2 the connection is painfully slow with a great loss of packets.
Doing a fix through PC Companion and reloading the whole system however doesn't work.

It has occured since i bought it.
The problem is that when i dont use the phone for browsing, up/downloading and stuff like that which use data, the signal strengh is 3g with all the bars, but when i then goes on the internet it drops to edge with full bars, which off course makes the internet much slower, and it happens also with YouTube and all the other data app's on the phone.
I Hope somebody can tell me what to do.

I'm going to guess that you have exceeded the amount of data allotted for your data plan. When you attempt to actively use your data the throttle that your service provider has placed on your account kicks in and leaves you with only edge service.
The only remedy for this is to wait for your next billing cycle to begin or to go and personally kick the CEO of your mobile phone service provider's ass.

Ok try this...in mobile networks select wcdma as default connection and restart the fone....then try to c if 3g is working fine....if it does then stay on that else u may again choose gsm/wcdma...
If he has indeed hit his cap limit, then you will stuck at 2G speeds. I really have never had to be at 3G in my area. Just 4G and when I hit my cap it's 2G for a while.. But it never shows 2G in the status bar... and that was even on my Tmobile G2

Its going to get increased soon anyway
Now Follow ahead
Start 3g/4g speed optimizer
-choose network speed as 12/28/7-max speed
-check on down speed increase
-now click on apply tweak.
!!!RESTART YOUR DEVICE!!!
Now open script manager
-browse to the downloaded 3g turbocharger text file
-check on superuser icon(N00BS: the android skeleton icon)
-click on run. script will load. wait till it asks to make a selection...
-scroll up and see what setting you need. fast, faster or fastest. I would recommend fastest. enter the option number.
-again enter the option to reboot.
thats it!
After reboot, your 3G speeds should be increased
To check your speeds, again download something from play store, something bigger than 2-3 megabytes would be preferable as it lets you see how far the speeds can get.
NOTE 2: this may not work for everyone, if it doesn't for you, dont blame me, you probably are already getting the max speed from your network operator.
Also I would again like to mention that indian users will be mostly benefited with this tweak. Enjoy, and dont forget to press the button if it works for you

Earlier in docomo i just used to switch to wcdma mode and the ping reduced drastically and the upload speed was very good, only the download speed was of 2g... i think this trick would give me 3G speed at that time but now docomo only gives 3G signal only when you subscribe to a 3G pack...
oh.. BSNl, sorry i was on phone... so you are now getting 3G speed on 2G plan by switching to wcdma mode?

Yes bro even I was was on docomo till they stopped the 3g coverage to non 3g subscribers... now I have switched to bsnl, enjoying 500kb+ speeds. but I was more happy on docomo, it used to give 700kb+ speeds.
Yea docomo gives good 3G speed , I'm subscribed to Rs96 for 720MB... speed is above 600KB/s... btw is it true there is no unlimited data plan in bsnl 2G now and which plan are you on?

I have purchased my mi4i two days ago.
But i noticed that i m getting very low speed(400_500kbps)on 3g mode.
I m using idea sim. At the same time when i m using the same sim on my Redmi 1s and Samsung galaxy s2, i m getting 800kbps to 1.2mbps download speed. Have anyone else noticed this?
Then i again when to mi india page where top 3g speed is shown as 3.6mbps (ss atteched) thats so pathetic as other devices have 21mbps or 14mbps top speed.
Please correct me if i am the only one who is facing this problem.

Speed test via OOKLA crosses 3.6 mbps with ease but while using apps that require constant data connection I feel as if its being throttled to 60 kbps - 75 kps. I can't pin point the issue.

What plan are u using 2g or 3g??
Your speed is too low i think u r using 2g plan.
I have noticed this problem too. 3g speeds are almost as slow as the Edge speeds on my old sGS3 --'
4g speeds are good though but the coverage over here is not that great so this really gets annoying :/

I have provided ss, the H + indicates it's on 3G also the speed test 8 mbps +. Check ss
Ohh now i have seen, your ping is good but 599kbps is still slow, plz try to do the same on different phone with the same sim. Then post results.
Coz i still think that it has a bad 3g modem.

Same problem here, download speed is under 7 Mbps on H+, the same sim in other regular phone i get ~27Mbps.
Switched to 4G, i get ~35Mbps and in other phone i get ~100 Mbps...
I am using this phone since 2 days ANd yes ! the 3g speed is quite less as compared to speed given by my old phone (moto g1)

hi i also bought a mi 4i...everything is great except 3g...speed is almost non existent... cant even open facebook... when i used same sim on mu old samsung duos 2 3g works fine... so i had to setup a wifi hotspot from my old phone... now it seems i cant get rid of the phone i replaced...
