[TWEAK] Boost Your 3G Speeds Drastically!!! - Android General

Okay people, so I came across these things when I googled for increasing 3G speeds.
[edit]: this can benefit you of getting 3g speeds on 2g, like me.just you need to switch to 'wcdma only' mode.
Follow ahead :
(This will mostly work for indians. And maybe for you too )
1) download this software called 3g/4g speed optimizer from market
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...DEsInByb3Zpc2lvbi5uZXRzcGVlZC5vcHRpbWl6ZXIiXQ..
2) Download this script manager
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=os.tools.scriptmanager&feature=search_result
3) Download the 3G turbcharger script by zeppelinrox from HERE
NOTE: you might want to compare the speed differences after and then of this tweak. If you, then download the NQ mobile security app from here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nqmobile.antivirus20&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5ucW1vYmlsZS5hbnRpdmlydXMyMCJd and it should give you a small network meter which shows current network speed. download it, start it, and then download something from the play store to see how much speed you are getting. Its going to get increased soon anyway
Now Follow ahead
Start 3g/4g speed optimizer
-choose network speed as 12/28/7-max speed
-check on down speed increase
-now click on apply tweak.
!!!RESTART YOUR DEVICE!!!
Now open script manager
-browse to the downloaded 3g turbocharger text file
-check on superuser icon(N00BS: the android skeleton icon)
-click on run. script will load. wait till it asks to make a selection...
-scroll up and see what setting you need. fast, faster or fastest. I would recommend fastest. enter the option number.
-again enter the option to reboot.
thats it!
After reboot, your 3G speeds should be increased
To check your speeds, again download something from play store, something bigger than 2-3 megabytes would be preferable as it lets you see how far the speeds can get.
NOTE 2: this may not work for everyone, if it doesn't for you, dont blame me, you probably are already getting the max speed from your network operator.
Also I would again like to mention that indian users will be mostly benefited with this tweak. Enjoy, and dont forget to press the button if it works for you

Hey.. thanks for sharing! btw which network are you on? Earlier in docomo i just used to switch to wcdma mode and the ping reduced drastically and the upload speed was very good, only the download speed was of 2g... i think this trick would give me 3G speed at that time but now docomo only gives 3G signal only when you subscribe to a 3G pack...

oh.. BSNl, sorry i was on phone... so you are now getting 3G speed on 2G plan by switching to wcdma mode?

Very helpful for users in india and likes...
Great post Shreyas,
I haven't tried same myself and also since i already have a airtel 3g but i must say that till few months back i was struggling with 2g data speeds and anyone who is still suffering with same can get hugely benefited with this trick.
Would love to see some screenshots of improvements in data transfer speeds if you or anyone else has to share...

Yes bro even I was was on docomo till they stopped the 3g coverage to non 3g subscribers... now I have switched to bsnl, enjoying 500kb+ speeds. but I was more happy on docomo, it used to give 700kb+ speeds.

Yea docomo gives good 3G speed , I'm subscribed to Rs96 for 720MB... speed is above 600KB/s... btw is it true there is no unlimited data plan in bsnl 2G now and which plan are you on?

Rs. 96/- and 750MB 3G...sounds good
Sadly DOCOMO 3G is yet not available in Mumbai. Good for you though H1manshu

what are you waiting for? Activate HSPA! ATT is dumb and disabled HSPA on our phones (no idea why though). But when you activate it, you should be able to get the fastest data speeds off the ATT network, and theoretically up to 7.1 Mbps download and like 2 or 3 upload speeds. You wont get charged extra for using it. I have hspa enabled on the $10 a month unlimited plan for nonpda's and it works great!

ight dude thnx but i have one more question i need to know, since 3G can give u the flexibility to go on the internet while on a phone call, will HSPA do the same thing?? cuz i love that feature, thnx
Yes, with the [H] displayed, you can do both. HSDPA is an extension of 3G.

I acticated this using advanced config. but I don't see an "H" popping up. I only see the 3g. I did do a speed test and noticed twice the speed back after I activated HSDPA. How do I get the "H" to pop up or is it even supposed to pop up.

Perhaps it isn't supported in your area? There is another cab file out there
that makes the setting that advanced config does "stick", because of something at&t did, when you reboot, it goes back to 3G only. Do a search for "fuze H fix". I'm on the laptop, and don't have the file.

there's another registry tweak you can do through advanced config or diamond tweak (might be the latter) that lets you determine whether or not it displays the H icon. Chances are that if you're on 3g, you're on HSPA. let me know if you can't find it and i'll dig it up for you

IIRC HSPA isn't available on T-mobile. Not sure of this however.

2G tweak?

So I searched the forums and Didn't find anything. I noticed theres 3g tweaks to make 3g faster but I haven't seen anything for 2G. Most people will say well thats cause everyone has 3g. Well I got stuck with a 2G UK version of the milestone so I can't get 3G. Just wondering if it can be done? or if anyones done it? Thanks

I have 2g on my phone. Even I was frustratd with low speed but after going to cm7, my speeds have increased very much, I only did some changes in toggle 2g/3g settinhgs, since then I am very happy with it.
Hope it helps.

I've tried CM7 and It's pretty laggy on my milestone. Also I accually got worse cell reception and slower net speeds with it :S I'm basically looking for a dev to look into making 2G faster like the 3G tweaks that are out there.

[Q] Upgrading from cm9 to cm10 with 2g connection

I have one simple question about the Upgrade! I use CellularOne for my cell service and currently I have to have a 2g connection. Ya I know its slow as hell but I only pay 45 bucks a month for unlimited everything. CM9 on my unlocked AT&T Skyrocket has worked great on 2g and has the option to mark "2G"only in settings. My question is will 2g work in Jelly Bean? The only reason I'm asking is because right before flashing I read TeamChopsticks CM10 Release Notes one more time. In the Know issues it states that "(AT&T only) "Use only 2G networks" option in Settings does not work". My only concern is that 2g will not work after upgrading. If its simply that the option for 2G only is not there but when I use my phone on CM10 and 2G is the only data signal that it will still function. I hope I worded that so it makes sense for a solid answer but is a huge question before I flash. I hope someone can answer because i'll wait to upgrade but very excited to test out the new JB features. Thanks for your help!
or maybe someone can confirm they can use a 2g signal on CM10 skyrocket
Maybe to make the question a little less technical sounding? Can someone just verify that a 2g signal will work on there upgraded CM10 JellyBean Skyrocket? Just need to know if the 2g/edge is possible! Thanks
It's possible would have to check my sig.
But roughly on:
LTE i get 16mbps/16mbps
3G/HSPA/HSPA+ 7-8mbps/1mbps
2G/Edge 1>mbps/1>mbps???
This is in Jax area so not as insane LTE speeds as some other people in non congested areas.
Awesome! Thanks for letting me know edge works with JB. I will probally go ahead with the upgrade now.

[Q] Low 3g speed on this device (upto 3.6mbps only)

Hello friends
I have purchased my mi4i two days ago.
But i noticed that i m getting very low speed(400_500kbps)on 3g mode.
I m using idea sim. At the same time when i m using the same sim on my Redmi 1s and Samsung galaxy s2, i m getting 800kbps to 1.2mbps download speed. Have anyone else noticed this?
Then i again when to mi india page where top 3g speed is shown as 3.6mbps (ss atteched) thats so pathetic as other devices have 21mbps or 14mbps top speed.
Please correct me if i am the only one who is facing this problem.
Now m feeling checked...
I once used 3g and i got more then 1.5 mbps speed on idea
Sent from my Mi 4i using Tapatalk
Can u please post ur speed test results on 3g mode, as i got this. .
Speed test via OOKLA crosses 3.6 mbps with ease but while using apps that require constant data connection I feel as if its being throttled to 60 kbps - 75 kps. I can't pin point the issue.

What plan are u using 2g or 3g??
Your speed is too low i think u r using 2g plan.
I have noticed this problem too. 3g speeds are almost as slow as the Edge speeds on my old sGS3 --'
4g speeds are good though but the coverage over here is not that great so this really gets annoying :/

I have provided ss, the H + indicates it's on 3G also the speed test 8 mbps +. Check ss
Ohh now i have seen, your ping is good but 599kbps is still slow, plz try to do the same on different phone with the same sim. Then post results.
Coz i still think that it has a bad 3g modem.
Thanku
Same problem here, download speed is under 7 Mbps on H+, the same sim in other regular phone i get ~27Mbps.
Switched to 4G, i get ~35Mbps and in other phone i get ~100 Mbps...
I am using this phone since 2 days ANd yes ! the 3g speed is quite less as compared to speed given by my old phone (moto g1)
Yup @gigiunu and @akshaysalunke13
If u got any proper solution ir reason then please don't forget to share
Think its a Hardware problem (bad Hardware) or can be solved with a Software update ??
same issue
hi i also bought a mi 4i...everything is great except 3g...speed is almost non existent... cant even open facebook... when i used same sim on mu old samsung duos 2 3g works fine... so i had to setup a wifi hotspot from my old phone... now it seems i cant get rid of the phone i replaced...
have you guys tried change to 3G only ?
*#*#4636#*#* > phone * information and change network to WCDMA only.
