Ok, maybe its just me.
Theres a lot of complaining about Sense, people on hear who would rather have any sensless rom.
Not wishing to sound like im causing an argument, but why do people who hate Sense, buy HTC phones. And not buy another Android phone, theres loads out there, some better than my Sensation, some worse.
Personally i like sense, running ICS, with Sense 3.5, and love it, but veryone has there own likes.
So why buy an HTC phone, if you dont want Sense?
the only thing i use sense for is for beats audio if it didnt need sense for it please say so then im gonna take an sensless rom don't see the point of sense exept keeping my homescreen to reload when much ram is used and as u know it uses at its own already around 50 mb of ram
I bougth my sensation just because the Sense, otherwise I would bought a Galaxy S2.
I like the sense features, the eye candy look and the widgets.
I recon that Sense is a resource eater, and it is has some bugs. It has been like this since touchFlo3D (predecessor of Sense in Windows mobile). Nothing is for free in this life.
The good thing is that there is a lot of options on this forum to change what we got from HTC.

Agreed.
I just think Sense is the best OEM 'skin' and actually adds some useful features.
I want to like Sense, but I don't like the coloring scheme from 3.5 onwards. I felt black and gray looked better than just flat gray. The slider bar was nicer too, more rounded, not so big. 3.5/3.6 feel like a Step 2 childs toy. That, and it's so heavy. You can feel the lag going from the newest ARHD ICS to Virtuous Quattro, and you can feel it going from ARHD Gingerbread going to CM7. I'll take what makes my phone perform best - and looks best.
I bought a sensation for the specs, not for sense. It was the cheapest alternative.

I picked my sensation xe as an upgrade purely for the 1.5 ghz processor, first thing I did was install aosp rom and custom kernal. Sense seems such a massive drain on the phones resources, so much quicker without it. But I played with sense long enough to see it is very pretty, with a lot of novelty wow factor touches. For me I want performance over looks, my sensation looks identical to my previous rom on my last phone, just a hell of a lot more powerful

Sense is getting better though. Its a brilliant idea.

Sense 3.5 will be coming to the HTC Sensation and with it it will bring much more speed.
What your forgetting, is Gingerbread never had pure dual-core support. Ice Cream Sandwich will bring that pure support and should, in theory, unleash the beast within.
Sense 3.5 was also initially aimed at lower end phones and because of this is much much less of a resource hog. If it can run speedily on the HTC Sensation XL and even on the HTC Explorer, imagine the possibilities on a dual-core phone? I've seen a screenshot of the task manager on a 4.0.3 build of ICS with Sense 3.5 and there was 400MB of RAM left over the measly 100MB were lucky to get whilst running Sense 3.0.
Hopefully somewhere in the near future we will have Sense 4.0. In fact, Sense 4.0 COULD make it into the final build of ICS for the Sensation. Looking at HTC's trend, I wouldn't count on it but I certainly wouldn't completely call it off.
People buy HTC phones because they are beautiful not only on the interface, but on the outside too and in the naming. Your iPhone isn't put together using an aluminum unibody is it? No, it's put together using cheap sheets of glass on top of a piece of plastic that says 'Apple'.
People buy HTC's mainly because they have common sense. HTC have the best build quality, the best support (normally), the best interface, and even sometimes have the quickest update rollouts. The EVO 3D was supposed to get ICS in January. That's a really fast update considering how long it took then to get the Desire HD on Gingerbread!
I love HTC.

Hi Guys
I bought the SGS II but i started to regret this decision after a couple of days
Everyone wants something out of a phone and Sensation might be a perfect fit for one person, while the SGS II for another
I owned the desire HD before and I really appreciated how smooth the interface was, and the number of business widgets readily available with sense (email, calendar, people, friend stream). I also appreciated how social networking is integrated into sense
In all honesty SGS II is a beast when it comes to speed, but it UI is way behind sense. Out of the box it does not offer the widgets i want, and 3rd party widgets are not as good or do not offer functionality or integration with sense
Amazingly, SGS II UI also becomes laggy when you fillout 7 screens with widgets. I had 7 screens of widgets on the DHD and the scrolling was very smooth
SO MY QUESTION IS
is this smoothness retained in sense 3.0. Do they still have the same nice sense widgets integrated with the system and is sense still smooth even after you fill out 7 screens with widgets ?
Thx
Yes everything is integrated very well. So far no lag with filling 7 screens with widgets

Went from Desire HD til Sensation, and I am very pleased.
The form factor of the Sensation, although the difference is not huge on paper, is all in favour of the Sensation. It's much more manageable, and feels better in my hand.
The build quality is better, and to me it feels like an "improved" Desire HD, where all small quirks have been fixed (like battery and Sim card covers, and power/volume buttons)
In short the Sensation feels like a better quality device.
I have always liked Sense, and Sense 3.0 is a very good improvement, with nice new features. (I used Sense 3 addons on my DHD, and I would never go back to Sense 2.1 now)
It is to early for me to conclude battery performance, since the battery only have 2-3 cycles completed, but I have complaints on performance so far.
Speed of dual core is also hard to comment, as my Desire HD ran custom ROM, so it was fast. The Sensation does not feel slow at all, but about the same as the single core 1Ghz DHD. My guess is that when HTC opens the bootloader and custom ROMs are created, it will be noticably faster!
To be fair, I wouldn't be surprised if Sense 3.0 is ported to SGS II and TouchWiz 4.0 is ported to Sensation
I've always said I don't really mind what software the phone is running (as long as it's Android!) because I or another dev can port the software I'd like
i personally hate widgets and sense. So on my sensation I went with launcher pro and like 2 widgets. I dunno its just personal preference i guess everything is.

You should be surprised if that happens, because Sense has never been successfully ported to a non-HTC phone. Mildly functional versions have made it to the original Motorola Droid and some Galaxy S variants, but they have never been daily drivers. There are just too many proprietary HTC bits for developers to reverse engineer.

That was all before HTC opened the DEV Center for Sense, it may get quite a bit easier to work with Sense.

Just thought I shared
I never thought I'd say this about a Samsung device, but I honestly can't wait for this phone. I'd like to think that with Google holding the reigns, the Nexus Prime will not have any of the issues that plagued the Vibrant.
Have to say stock ICS looks absolute pony. Horrid colours, crap looking launcher. Google made a BIG mistake going with Samsung for their flagship phones IMO
Coupled with the fact their putting the launch back makes it a loss in my book
Au contraire, i kinda like that user interface. It's purely the new google style and i hope that we can also have it on our sensation. My whishes are for the CM8, but i also hope the Cyanogen Team will improve the camera in their next release... The actual one is almost crap

Probably the Sense UI is the most good looking among others but i like also the stock android style, it's minimalist and with some fancy touches here and there.. Pretty practical if i can say, where sense sometimes is too exhagerated.. Both the worlds have pro's and cons..
NB: i was talking only about the ui... all the sense apps and integrations are basically perfect. I could not live without HTC camera app and friend stream on my sensation
Google UI is suck !!
We should wait Sense 4.0

I think stock Gingerbread is pretty nice. But they did hire that guy who designed webOS' GUI (it's gorgeous) but I haven't really seen that type of creativity transfer over to Android yet.
Like GingerBread and Icecream sounds yummy!
I think Sense3.5 is more better than ICS UI!!I love HTC!!

I don't like it. HTC must have been high out of their minds to take Sense this far. The animations are unnecessary.
I agree, Im not really liking it. The dockbar, IMO, looks like garbage. All those animations seems like it lags the UI as well
the animation is nice. but i don't like the launcher, sense's 3.xx launcher is better that.
I like the animations. The dock and the actual device are ugly. Sucks. HTC messed up on this one. For sure il be getting the amaze instead now. I rather have sense 3.0 on android 4.0.

i honestly do like thgis sense. i mean sure the launcher is a bit iffy but i like it and if it gets ported to our phone i wont mind using it as a DD
O__o what happened????
Software: it doesn't even look like Sense anymore...
i agree, the animations, while nice, look like they hog a bunch of memory, and aren't necessary... if it lags on a device like that, imagine how it would run on our Glacier..LOL
Hardware: reminds me of the Galaxy Nexus, specially from the side lol
it doesn't look as pro and nice as the Sensation... i mean.. wow.. single LED light? the Sensation has two...
much rather get the Sensation instead.
quite disappointed... hope HTC changes it before the official release.
Eww ugly
I'm a Rom Flip Flopper
I was concerned that Sense 4.0 would look too much like previous versions and not allow enough of ICS' great UI to show through. The leaked video was a pleasant surprise!
I like the new status bar, clock/weather widget, and dockbar. All three are a nice change from previous versions which were pretty close to identical going from the Cupcake version of Sense that came out on the Hero all the way up to Sense 3.5 on the Runnymede and Rezound. Finally something different!
Like most people I did not at all like the needless animation in the Settings window, but I'd still be interested in running 4.0 on the MT4G or any future device.
Not a big fan of Sense in general, but it does seem HTC has gone overboard with this one. The phone itself looks pretty sleek though, wonder how cool it would be running AOSP ICS.
I haven't seen the video yet, I'm throttled, but judging by the comments. It's possible that it's just a beta or something, I'm just guessing.
If I helped, give thanks, if you please.

I think it looks pretty good. I definitely like the new launcher. I hated the rosie dock.
I thought it looked pretty cool. Cant wait to see a finished product
I could care less about the lag; it's the UI itself that annoys me. This has resource hog written all over it. And, Sense got uglier. All this resource rape is unnecessary; people have made exact replicas of Sense using images and other widgets, and it uses a ****lot less resources than Sense's framework (not to mention, the framework is modded to hell). HTC is just getting unnecessary now.
I think HTC should of just watered it down, a lot. Keeps beats and add universal support. Animations are nice so keep those, and have HTC Widgets, and apps and that's it. Stock ICS with minor tweaks.

I'm gonna have to disagree with that. Sense has so many little touches are throughout the UI...far too many to list. There's no way to replicate the Sense experience with themes and widgets.
It's sort of like generic cola...it tastes ok and a little like real Coke, but there's no way to duplicate genuine ice-cold Coca-Cola Classic (or Pepsi ).

you're absolutely right.
people may have made "replicas" of it, but nothing beats the real thing.
just like how those people in China make those fake Android phones/iPhones and sell them
Looks great, but I'll always trade the looks of sense for the responsiveness and better battery life I get from an AOSP or CM build.
After looking at this, if sense REALLY turns out to be that way, I'm hoping some smart guy will make a rom for it without all the needless animations and resource hogging things.
I was really dissapointed that Touchwiz phones were more popular than Sense phones for 2011. I thought HTC would learn from that, but it seems they've gotten worse. I've been kind of excited for a Sense 4.0 rom but now im just probably gonna use my core droid 3.5 rom til my contract is up. If a nexus phone doesnt come to T-mobile... I will be forced to buy the only thing i see good enough....... a galaxy S 3 phone.
btw: I just saw this video today so im late XD.
...want Sense 3.6 to be the final Sense version that we get for the Sensation? I mean, I love it. It's great. Obviously a more polished version makes sense, however, I think this sense version is pretty great. (I've had tons of Sense phones and have used many roms.) Sense 4.0 looks so... Blah... to me. That plain grey, I like it on AOSP and in the menus on Sense 3.6... but for it to be the launcher bar on the bottom... I dunno. I feel like they are doing away with the glassy gloss of Sense that made me love it.
Anyone else agree?
Yes, I would love to see sense die, but it seems to be popular enough to some that it keeps HTC making it. These custom skins also give a layer of distinction between manufacturers. I know my next phone will be a Nexus phone or a phone that active and successful AOSP based roms. I don't like how HTC doesn't open up the source for the sensation making it harder for devs to cook up fully functional roms.

They do open the kernel source up, but IIRC it's only after a phone or update with that version of the kernel is shipped this occurs.
So my guess is once they push out the ICS update they will make the kernel source available here: http://htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads

I think 3.6 is kinda ugly. Those grays are very real in Sense 3.6 but they have a bluish tint to them. I just wish the current releases weren't so laggy. Sure, they're stable and the lag is tolerable, but nothing beats AOSP 4.0
Personally I can't stand sense, but thats just a personal preference. I didn't realize how much I disliked it until I received a sense device. I used to think it was just a skin and a different launcher would fix it.
It would be great if HTC offered factory baked AOSP roms as an option. So those who want a regular android experience will continue to buy HTC phones and can do so without voiding their warranty. I get why people like sense, even more when you take it back to windows mobile 6.x (touchflo), but as long as sense is a part of HTC phones for the future, I will no longer buy phones from them. Except for 9 months on blackberry I have had only HTC phones for at least 6 years.

You can't really complain about Sense 4.0 when no one has even used it.
All you've seen so far are leaked videos and pictures. It could still change before it's released.
Hey guys I'm on Virtuous Inquisition 4.0 & I really love how smooth it is and its clean feel. Loved it enough to get rid of my gs2 as it makes my sensation so much more functional. It's probably stick to Sense 3.6 ROM's for now if you need your phone to work.
Most of the hardware seems to be working in Sense 4.0 ROM's but I have read (haven't tried for myself) that they're still quite rough around the edges.

Stay with Sense 3.6. If you need your phone for business. None of the 4.0 roms are close to ready. They function, but performance across the board is low. There's only so much devs can do, and those roms are not ready to go yet.
